Kaitlyn Simons is not like other girls. She has a secret. A heartbreaking secret. And now it’s all she can do to just get through the day, acting and behaving just like a normal girl. It’s been a year and a half since Kaitlyn was first hospitalized for a life-threatening eating disorder. And just when she thinks her life is back on track, she’s thrown for another loop. A devastating loop.
Elaine Babich currently lives in Southern California with her husband and three children. For more about Elaine and her books, please find her on Facebook.
I did not like this book as much as the first one - Kaitlyn is almost 15 yet she narrates in the same style as a 13yr old child. I had really hoped that she would have grown up a bit. She is also still very narrow-minded and mean about other people's weight which annoyed me - after all, shouldn't she by now understand more about weight issues? Despite the minor annoyances I enjoyed the second part of the journey with her enough to read the next book. Looking forward to it.
I have a Monday Review for you!! Relatively Normal, By Elaine Babich is the second in the "Kaitlyn" Series The first Being 'You Never Called Me Princess. (Which I LOVED) These books are told in the First Person, Kaitlyn who is 15 years old and from a, well lets face it we say dysfunctional but I believe its getting to be more the norm, family. We pick up where Kaitlyn left off in the first book after a struggle with Anorexia/ Bulimia that almost killed her. She has this better under control, she is back in school, Her sister Brenda has a baby boy , and her other sister Victoria is doing well and they all live in the home with Mom and Dad. Then MY heart sped up as I started reading symptoms that Kaitlyn started having that were EXACTLY the same as my teenage son. I had to put the book down for a minute to catch my breath and wipe my tears, it was like reading my child's story from this past year. I'm not gonna give a spoiler but if you know me then , you know what happens. As she is dealing with this new diagnosis, she also has to deal with being a teenager, boys, jealous, bullying girls, grades AND helping with her nephew. I Love the way this book is written like I'm sneaking a peek at Kaitlyn's journal. I don't want to give too much away, This is just such a great honest look into what a teen deals with in today's world. I give this book 5 high Fives for a job well done!!
Relatively Normal... who is actually normal? I know I am not, not even close. But it seems we all want to be normal. Can you imagine being a High school student with a eating disorder and then finding out you have a serious case of epilespy? Poor Kaitlyn can't seem to find any normal for herself or her family. I liked this book a lot and I have to say I have yet to be bored with this character or Elaine Babich's writing style. I got a 5 series pack of her books and now I am on book 3, looking forward to book 4. Most times I get bored reading the same author again and again without a break. So, far so good.

Good read , well written. Great book for anyone suffering from an eatting disorder , also great for loved ones . These books so far talk about it from the patient sick with the disorder and from friends and families view point. Read falling again and will reviewing that one next. Starting last book in this series this evening. I think " Jumping Down " is last book of this series if not I will keep Reading till the very last book/pages :)
