Fenella Carrington is a billionaire. Silas is a small-town barista. After yet another public blowout, with yet another unsuitable boyfriend threatening to break the internet, the promised job with the family company is in jeopardy. Fenella is told to consciously uncouple from her celebrity lifestyle because she’ll never be taken seriously if her antics keep making headlines.
When Fenella is offered a hiding spot to wait out the backlash – in a castle no less – she jumps on a private jet and prepares to spend the fall in Laandia.
Only she never expected just how quiet the country would be.
Home of her ex-Prince Gunnar, Laandia is a tiny country on the edge of the Atlantic. And Battle Harbour is a small fishing town with limited shopping, no parties and no one to influence. When Fenella isn’t hiding out in the castle, the socializing is done in the local coffee shop, where the barista, Silas is as sweet as a cinnamon roll.
Silas thinks he knows the type of woman Fenella is—the kind that will hit his town like a storm, and leave everyone, himself included, to pick up the pieces.
That might be so, but Silas might be the one who changes everything for Fenella. Or she might add some (pumpkin) spice to his life.
Coffee Break with the Billionaire is a closed-door, friends-to-lovers sweet romcom, with pub crawls and pumpkin carving and a sky full of stars.

Book 7 of the Cinnamon Rolls & Pumpkin Spice series is a sweet, cozy romance that's perfect for fall. Fenella, the daughter of a billionaire, finds herself laying low in a small town after some bad press. She frequents Silas's coffee shop, where a connection quickly forms between them. Silas introduces Fenella to the charm of small-town life-stargazing, cooking together, carving pumpkins, and even helping her grocery shop.
After publicly dumping her rockstar fiancé for cheating, Fenella's father sends her on a "retreat" to the Canadian countryside, where she reconnects with Silas. Though they come from vastly different worlds, their chemistry is undeniable. Over the course of the story, Fenella begins to shed her "billionaire brat" image and discovers a simpler, more fulfilling side to life. Silas, a kind and steady "golden retriever" type, slowly lets down his guard after years of hurt, but he can't help questioning whether Fenella's life is too big for someone like him.
As Fenella and Silas spend more time together-whether it's grocery shopping, cooking, or just enjoying each other's company-their friendship deepens into something more. Fenella begins to see the beauty of the quiet life, while Silas comes to realize that maybe, just maybe, they could have a future together.
This fast, heartwarming read is full of cozy fall vibes, from pumpkin carving to stargazing. While it's a clean romance with no spice, the sweet moments between Fenella and Silas are more than enough to keep you hooked. The lighthearted writing style and the emphasis on the small joys of life make it easy to fall in love with this charming story.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for this ARC read!
I am totally in love with this fluffy romance read. It was cute and soft all throughout the book, and I really love how it had little to no angst. It was such a perfect, relaxing read.
Silas is the cutest cinnamon roll MMC, and I love his pairing with Fenella. Plus, Fenella's growth as a person in Laandia was such a good thing for her. I just loved them, and I loved Laandia and the people around them, too.
Overall, I highly recommend this read if you're looking for something fluffy, romantic, and slow burn ❤️ So worth the read!
Coffee Break With The Billionaire is part of the Cinnamon Roll and Pumpkin Spice series but it can totally be read as a standalone book. It features Fenella and Silas who both have completely different backgrounds. It features some on my favourite tropes friends to lovers, work place romance all set in a small town and is a wholesome cozy read. It was an enjoyable story full of fall vibes and cast of charming characters. I received a complementary copy from the author.
Fenella is a billionaire influencer who needs a place to lay low after her very public breakup so she can hopefully get the promised job in her father’s company. She decides to hide out in a small Atlantic country where another ex is one of 4 prince’s now a good friend.
Silas owns the local coffee shop that Fenella visits. He is happy in his small country with his coffee shop and family. He is afraid to get to close as Fenella will leave, why would someone like her stay. Instead they become good friends. Silus teaches Fenella many firsts as she has never had a chance to do them as her parents always had staff to do it all.
If you would like to know what they are you will have to read the book. If you want to know if they become more than friends again you have to read the book. Does she get the promised job in her dad’s company…..read the book.
A sweet rom com that gives all the Fall feels, who doesn’t like pumpkin spice?! Well, Silas clearly, but Pumpkin spice lover Fenella is about to tornado into his small town life and mix things up a little. Silas is the handsome cinnamon roll hero who runs a successful coffee shop and knows everyone around town. Fenella is the billionaire socialite ‘exiled’ to said small town following a media scandal to lie low. An opposites attract standalone with a HEA and part of the Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series.
I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own.
this was a cute installment in the cinnamon roll and pumpkin spice series - but it felt like it had a different vibe than the others in the series. I didn’t feel like I was in the small town. Regardless of that, It was a cute story, and the two MCs were quite lovable.
It is a cinnamon roll, small town romance that focused more on the simple joys in life - friendships, working, independence, etc.
I enjoyed the story overall, but it felt a bit hard for me to get into. It felt more like a billionaire romance than a fall, cinnamon roll/cozy romance.
Overall, i would recommend reading it if you’re working through the series, but it is def my least favorite of the collection.
I enjoyed Fenella and Silas's story! Two opposites who have a spark of chemistry that draws them together even though they both have some hesitancy on starting a relationship. But the more they come to know each other, the more they fall.
They were both great characters and I loved watching them bring their strengths and weaknesses together to help and lift each other. They both grew and it was a refreshing story seeing them not have drama in their relationship. Two adults who talked and just wanted to help those around them.
It was a sweet love story that unfolded. And I loved their sweet friendship that built into more. They trusted each other and that created a great foundation for a sweet love to grow between them. And for them to let go of hurts from their pasts and to let real love help them know who they were as individuals and as a couple.
Content: Nothing more than kisses. There is mention of alcohol as there are a couple of scenes at a bar and at a night club.
I received a copy from the publisher, Three Birds Press, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
First off, the fact that we have a female billionaire instead of a male one is extremely refreshing. However, there was no power play going on here, Fenella was extremely lovable and relatable from the start. Being in the public eye, the world witnesses her embarrassing breakup and is forced to hide out in the (fictitious) country of Laandia.
Enter Silas who has lived in Laandia all of his life, giving up the chance to study the stars at University to take over his parent's coffee shop when his parents have to bring up his nephew. However, he is not bitter or sad, in fact, I have never met a nicer, more devoted, more determined book boyfriend before.
The chemistry between Fenella and Silas is great. He’s pretty much smitten from the start having met her briefly during her last visit. She thinks he’s sweet and helps him out by getting rid of a problematic employee when Silas is too nice to fire her. Add to that, she even steps in to help him out in the coffee shop herself, despite never having a proper job before.
With both reluctant to give in to their feelings because Fenella’s time in the country is running out, they continue the charade of just friends as long as they can, although it’s clear to everyone just how keen they are on each other.
I simply adored the Laandia Royal Family, so down to earth, with no airs and graces and the King dancing in the local bar with townsfolk was wonderful. There is a danger in trying to make them relatable to make them unrealistic but the author found the perfect blend of believable and relatable here.
Fenella is a billionaire socialite that can't quite find her place in the world. She has big aspirations, but little direction. When her most recent relationship goes up in smoke, she retreats to Battle Harbor to stay with her friends (the royal family) to stay out of the press. But the small town is kinda boring. She visits the local coffee shop often for her pumpkin spice fix and her daily dose of the hottie that owns the place. Silas has been burned by women before. As much as he tries to keep his distance from Fenella, he finds himself drawn to her like a moth to a flame.
I just loved this. Silas is my favorite type of book boyfriend. He's kind, thoughtful, smart, and devoted to the people he loves. He reminds me a lot of Bo from Out on a Limb. Bo may be my favorite cinnamon roll book BF of all time and Silas would be a close second. It's such a cozy fall romance.
This is book 7 of the Cinnamon Rolls & Pumpkin Spice series
Fenella is a billionaire’s daughter who has to go to a small town to lay low after some bad press. She frequents Silas’s coffee shop and forms a connection with him. Silas shows Fenella how great life can be in a small town. They look at the stars together, cook, and carve pumpkins. She even helps him at his coffee shop. I enjoyed this sweet romantic comedy. It was full of fall vibes. There was also a bit of a celebrity/ royal aspect to the story that I enjoyed. I loved Silas and Fenella’s connection, I just wanted more of them once they were together!
Sigh! So stinking cute! These two are characters I have desperately wanted to know more about. To discover that they’re each other’s ‘one’ made me so deliriously happy. It broke my heart to learn about all the things that had shaped Silas into the man he had become, but I loved watching Fenella become the woman she wanted to be. She learned to grow roots while showing Silas he could fly. I am so in love with all of Laandia and I already can’t wait to come back for my next visit. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
Back to Laandia we go! This time we get to follow two side characters from the Love in Laandia series. We have seen Fenella in the previous stories but I’m so glad we got to see her get her HEA. I adore the energy she brings and love how she doesn’t let anyone underestimate her. Silas is such a sweet soul and bringing these two together made such a beautiful heartwarming story.
This is part of a multi author series but can be read as a stand alone novel. It is connected to the Love in Laandia series. This is a clean, dual pov romance.
A cozy, closed-door friends-to-lovers romance featuring a billionaire and a barista, along with some royals that know how to have a fun. Silas is patient and steady and all sorts of nice when it comes to Fenella-helping her discover herself and true good qualities without the power of her money. A fall read full of sweet and enduring moments between the characters. This book is part of the Cinnamon Roll and Pumpkin Spice series-eight stand alone, autumn based novels.
I wasn't a big fan of Fenella in previous stories but getting to know her while she's hiding in Laandia was fun. Seeing the other side of a billionaire who comes over as a spoilt brat most times until she starts to fall in love with Battle Harbour.
Without spoiling I can't say much else but be prepared for her brilliant ideas. I'm already curious what else her future holds in the next book.
Great Fall Read! Such a fun Fall read with lovable characters and excellent growth. Love the Newfoundland references. This has a place on my shelf for sure!
Coffee Break with the Billionaire is the seventh book in the Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series. This is a multi-author series and all books can be enjoyed as standalones or in any order. This story does also feature characters from the author's Love in Laandia series. I had not personally read the books in this series and again found I was able to enjoy nonetheless.
This was another fun addition to the Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series... with a female billionaire, a flannel wearing barista and all the fall vibes. Silas was a wonderful character that drew me in right away... he was the sweetest in the way he put his family first and definitely felt like he could have walked off the screen of a Hallmark movie. Admittedly though, it took me a bit longer to come around to Fenella! In those first few chapters, she definitely came across as the spoiled rich girl... and in some ways, she was... but I liked getting to see her beyond that as the story went on. By the end of the story, she had won me over and I enjoyed seeing these two together. It was definitely very much a slow burn, but I enjoyed seeing their relationship progress throughout the story.
Coffee Break with the Billionaire is a closed-door romance with kisses only. The author does a great job of breaking down reader expectations, so definitely check that out to decide if it's a good fit for you!
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review Spice: 0, unless you think kissing is spice, then…0.3 out of 10 on the spice level. Lol
Fenella is the daughter of a billionaire. She is an influencer with bad taste in men and moonlights as a model on occasion. Silas is the owner of a small-town café shop, helping raise his nephew and not interested in dating, till Fenella lands in his town. Cheated on by her fiancé, Fenella’s break-up starts trending and her father orders her away until the hype calms down. Why not spend it in a castle in the tiny country of Laandia (aka a fictional country taking up a chunk of Newfoundland)?
What I Thought So, I didn’t realize this is actually part of a series when I asked for this. I just saw a cute story about two people falling in love. BUT it’s okay. You can totally read this as a standalone and, in my case, it will probably motivate you to seek out other books from the series, though I don’t think they are all written by the same person. At first, I was super excited because FINALLY a financially successful woman in search for love. I was mistaken. She’s basically an heiress. Like Paris Hilton. Darn. Hopes dashed. But at least she’s a nice person. It’s hard not to like Fenella simply for who she is. Once she settles into Laandia a little bit her kind, exuberant personality really shines. It’s refreshing that she’s not at all afraid of a bit of hard work in order to achieve the goals she wants. Goals that usually would be achieved by servants, no less. And the fact that she takes a genuine interest in other people and wants to help them out on occasion, super refreshing.
Silas, well, who the heck couldn’t like Silas? He truly is a cinnamon roll of a man. Kind, thoughtful, putting the people he cares about first, and unable to fire even the most terrible of employees. Lol His love of flannel and plaid is refreshing as well as all the healthy relationships he has with friends, family and townsfolk. He’s not at all bitter about giving up his dreams in order to be there for his remaining family when they need him most. I’m actually super glad that Fenella took interest in him. She regularly acknowledges his sacrifices and feels compelled to tr and make his dream(s) come true towards the end.
The short of it is, they are a green flag couple…once they become a couple. It takes almost the whole book for them to get there, which I think is a really good thing because the book only takes place across 2 weeks. I really enjoyed how the author went about it. No insta-love, no rushed unrealistic relationship steps to tie up the ending with a pretty little bow. Deep respect and appreciation to the author for tha!
Conclusion? Super cute fluff read that I could easily read every lunch break without getting lost. It’s a clean romance with no real red flag inducing behaviors and no rush to tie the whole relationship up with a pretty little ring. Very refreshing.
Before I begin, I would like to thank Holly Kerr for allowing me to read her upcoming book, Coffee Break with a Billionaire, which is part of the multi-author Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series and will be available on Amazon on October 22nd, 2024.
After many people witness her newest breakup and it goes viral, Fenella is ordered to hide from the spotlight until the internet’s obsession dies down. So, like any person, Fenella goes to stay at her friend’s castle in the small country of Laandia. Whenever she’s exploring the country, she makes sure to stop by Silas’ coffee shop. Silas assumes he knows from social media how Fenella operates. She’s going to charm him and his town, perhaps get into a couple of situations, and then leave him and everyone else to pick up after she leaves. But he still serves her coffee anyway. Can Silas muster the courage to take some risks? Will Fenella’s current experience in Laandia change her perspective, and perhaps help her find what she’s been looking for all along?
I adored this book. You have Fenella, a charming, honest, and beautiful billionaire who grew up in an extremely wealthy family and has had a few mishaps due to romance. You have Silas, a sweet young man that runs a coffee shop and does his best to take care of his loved ones and community. The banter between Fenella and Silas was fantastic, and I loved seeing Fenella try new things and build relationships with the people of Laandia. Both of the main characters had to work through their hurts from their pasts, and I enjoyed seeing their character growth throughout the story. I loved how determined Fenella was to get what she wanted and didn’t hesitate to do the work to make it happen. Overall, if you like fabulous clothes and cars, found family, humor, stars, delicious cinnamon rolls, and sweet small-village billionaire/local business owner romance with low amounts of spice, then I would highly recommend this book. Coffee Break With The Billionaire is part of the Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series, 8 books by 8 authors. This sweet romance features two characters you may recognize if you've read Kerr's Love In Laandia series: Fenella Carrington and Silas Bell.
Fenella is the daughter of a billionaire. She is known for being known. She has a substantial following on social media, has graced the covers of many magazines and her life is frequently a topic of conversation. After publicly breaking up with her cheating fiancé, her father instructs her to keep a low profile. She quickly accepts Prince Gunnar's invitation to come spend time in Laandia.
Laandia is a beautiful country, but it is very small. Fenella quickly finds herself without anything to do. Silas, the owner of Coffee for the Sole, quickly changes that for her. Fenella is surprised to find that she is not only attracted to him but drawn to him. Silas, who has had a crush on Fenella for awhile, is quite happy to spend time with the gorgeous influencer, and show her the beauty of his home. Knowing she is only there temporarily makes him reluctant to open his heart to more than friendship for fear of being hurt. But could she be worth the risk?
This is a really sweet, spice-free, love story with a delightful ending for all. I love how Fenella feels safe to show her true self to Silas, and how we all see that she is so much more than what the public perceives. She is smart and savvy, fierce and feisty, determined and driven, and is not afraid of hard work. Silas is a perfect cinnamon roll character. He is sweet and caring and kind and downright lovable.
I quite enjoyed this book and I'm wondering if Kerr might be planning a Laandian love story for Fenella's twin brother Ashton. I hope so! Until then, I'm waiting for Royal Reluctance's release, the fourth book in the Love In Laandia series. If you haven't checked them out, and enjoy a sweet love story, they are sure to leave a smile on your face.
This was a refreshing romance where the female main character is the billionaire, as most books showcase the male main character as the billionaire. This book was so much different than I thought it would be, and I mean that in a good way. I enjoyed the direction the author took in this story.
Fenella is the very definition of a spoiled brat. She was raised by wealthy parents, and now she has built her own dynasty by modeling and becoming a worldwide social media influencer. After a very public breakup with her ex, her father has suggested (or should I say demanded) that she disappear for a little while. This is how she ends up in Laandia staying at the castle with her ex-prince boyfriend and their family.
Silas is a barista who works hard for everything he has. But there is more to him than meets the eye, even though he is definitely eye candy in his flannel shirts. Fenella loves his pumpkin spice drinks and comes in every day to visit. Even though these two come very different worlds, you can feel the chemistry between them.
Fenella is spoiled, but as her character is built, I soon realized that she is spoiled, but some of her actions are just because that is the way everything has always been for her. She actually has a wonderful disposition and cares for others, so she slowly grew on me. The poor girl always had terrible taste in men, which was one of her problems.
Silas, on the other hand, stole my heart from the beginning. He truly cares for others, especially his family. He works hard and does not mind doing so. Both of them end up learning something from the other one as they get to know one another better. I enjoy a slow burn romance and opposites attract. Stargazing, fast cars and learning to make coffee drinks were just a few plus marks in this appealing book.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Coffee Break with the Billionaire by Holly Kerr is a charming romantic comedy that revolves around two main characters: Fenella, a wealthy and gorgeous billionaire social media celebrity and Silas, an ordinary guy who works as a barista at his family-owned café.
After a very public breakup with her rockstar fiancé Tiger, Fenella has been asked by her father to keep a low profile till the viral video of her break-up subsides. Having no option but to fulfil her father’s request, Fenella flies to Laandia (a fictional country). During her stay there she meets the local barista Silas, who makes her favourite Pumpkin Spice Latte, with two pumps and an extra of vanilla, oat milk and unicorn froth. With nothing to do, Fenella decides to work in Silas’s café, as they start spending more time together, their connection deepens. Silas is hesitant at first about getting involved with Fenella, knowing how complicated relationships can become when a billionaire is involved. Fenella, on the other hand, struggles with her own set of expectations and the baggage that comes with being a wealthy, public figure. Throughout the novel, both characters challenge each other’s perceptions of love, trust, and what really matters in a relationship.
My favourite part was when Silas takes Fenella for stargazing! (It was so dreamy and perfect!!!) Along the way Silas teaches Fenella a lot about living a normal life. They do things which Fenella had never done in her life, simple things like grocery shopping, cooking, pumpkin carving!
Overall, Coffee Break with the Billionaire is a heartwarming and fun romance that plays with the classic "rags-to-riches" trope, but it also subverts the usual narrative. It’s about two people learning to meet in the middle, overcoming their fears, and discovering that love can bridge even the widest divides. The witty dialogue, charming characters, and emotional growth make it an enjoyable and satisfying read for fans of contemporary romance.
Holly Kerr has done an amazing job and this story has won a place in my heart. I absolutely love Silas and Fenella’s story. The longing. The pining. The SLOW BURN!!!!
Fenella Carrington is a billionaire socialite whose father (and the board of Carrington Toys) thinks it would be best for her to lay low for awhile after a very public breakup. What better place than Laandia, a country near Canada where she knows the entire royal family (and even dated one or two of them!). Silas Bell is the owner of Coffee for the Sole in Laandia. He has always had a bit of a crush on Fenella from a distance when she has visited. Now they are thrown together for an extended period of time and all he can do is pine for her. He knows her presence is temporary and he cannot bear another heartbreak. Fenella is learning what it is truly like to be on her own for the first time in her life and she doesn’t hate the freedom she has found. She just has to decide if love is worth making a permanent change to her lifestyle. Silas has to decide if he is willing to risk it all to love someone again.
I loved how these two characters figured themselves out. Fenella has wanted for nothing her entire life, but finds that it really just means that she hasn’t really had anything to call her own. Silas is the master of longing. He wants Fenella but doesn’t know how to make it work when he has such a set life that he absolutely loves that seems so opposite of what Fenella wants. I loved watching him invite her into his world of stars and planets and how she found peace in a world so different than the one she has always known.
This small town, friends to lovers, billionaire romance is the 7th installment in the multi-author Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series with tie-ins to the Love in Laandia series from Holly Kerr.
Battle Harbour, a small fishing village in the country of Laandia, serves as the perfect place for Fenella Carrington, a disgraced billionaire, to hide out. After learning her fiancé was cheating on her, she created some less than favorable media buzz. No stranger to Laandia or its royal family, Fenella has been keeping a low profile. But when she begins to experience cabin fever she ventures out into town. Will Fenella’s adventures land her in more hot water, or will it open her eyes to the world?
Coffee Break with a Billionaire by Holly Kerr is the seventh book in the multi-author series Cinnamon Roll and Pumpkin Spice. The entire collection of novels are written as standalone books that can be enjoyed all together, in any order, or simply on their own. I have been slowly making my way through the entire series and recommend reading all eight books. Not only have they been highly entertaining, they offer all the fall feels while remaining clean and closed door.
One of the biggest perks of reading this series is it has introduced me to a handful of new-to-me authors. I am ashamed to say that this is my first book by the talented Holly Kerr. I loved my time with this book and look forward to reading more from her in the near future.
The highlight of the book for me was Silas. I loved reading about the sweet, astronomy obsessed, family man. Not only was he dedicated to serving his town, he made the perfect love interest for Fenella. He was patient, kind, and demonstrated selfless love. Witnessing him put aside his hopes and dreams for his nephew was not only beautiful, but unique. It is rare that men posses paternal instincts at a young age and without being a father.
Special thanks to Netgalley, Three Birds Press, and Holy Kerr for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is book seven of the Cinnamon Rolls & Pumpkin Spice series!
Also who doesn’t like pumpkin spice?! Silas—we must change this immediately!
Fenella, a daughter of a billionaire just dumped her rockstar fiancé because he cheated and she did it publically, causing her father to send her on a “retreat” in a Canadian country where she has an ex as a prince. Don’t worry, they’re just good friends now! But she meets Silas (again) at his coffee shop he owns and immediately is drawn to the nice and kind boy. Throughout the book she discovers herself in a new light. Shes not just the billionaire brat that everyone views her as. And Silas learns this about her too.
Fenella discovers that there’s more to the quiet life than meets the eye. She learns to love the “boring” country and decides to make changes to it too. She also falls in love with a type she’s never tried before. Nice guy. Golden retriever guy. Silas.
Silas has had his own hurt throughout the years with people leaving him behind. Once he meets Fenella and they become friends it’s harder to deny his attraction towards her. But he knows she’s just another girl who has a WAY better life than being with a poor man. He tries his hardest to keep away from Fenella. But he might cave.. He shows Fenella what life could be like if she stayed here. They stargaze together, carve pumpkins (how cute) and he even helps her grocery shop and learn how to cook.
This book was a fast read but the most cozy read. It has no spice, but the book is written so cute that I still loved every moment of it.
I received this as an ARC from NetGalley. The opinions I expressed are my own.
Coffee Break with the Billionaire is a cozy, heartwarming romance that delivers all the fall vibes! As the seventh installment in the Cinnamon Rolls & Pumpkin Spice series, this book works perfectly as a standalone, but longtime readers will appreciate the familiar characters and charm that the series is known for.
Fenella, a billionaire influencer, is sent to the quiet Canadian countryside after a very public breakup with her cheating rockstar fiancé. Here, she reconnects with Silas, a small-town coffee shop owner who is as kind and steady as they come. Despite their different worlds, sparks fly, but Silas wonders if he could ever fit into Fenella's high-profile life.
I loved watching Fenella's transformation throughout the story. She begins as the classic "spoiled rich girl" but slowly grows into someone who appreciates the beauty of a simpler, quieter life. Silas, on the other hand, is the perfect "golden retriever" hero—a sweet and grounded guy who shows Fenella what life could be like if she embraced small-town living. Their slow-burn romance is full of sweet, tender moments, from pumpkin carving to stargazing, and the emphasis on small joys was heartwarming.
This is a closed-door romance, but the chemistry between Fenella and Silas was undeniable, and I found myself rooting for them throughout. The book is a fast, cozy read, perfect for fall and anyone who loves an endearing, clean romance.
Thank you to NetGalley, Holly Kerr, and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this delightful book. All opinions are my own.
Have you been reading any of the new fall releases? I have been reading new ones and rereading old ones too. I love this time of the year, so I’ve loving all the fall reads. The last book I finished was Coffee Break with the Billionaire by Holly Kerr. I enjoyed every minute of it.
The story focuses on Fenella Carrington, a billionaire socialite, whose latest scandal causes her to hide out in the small country of Laandia. As Fenella acclimates to quiet small town life in Laandia, she starts to befriend the locals, specifically Silas Bell, the hunky owner of the local coffee shop. The story that follows is full of fall vibes, interesting supporting characters, humor, banter, and swoony kisses.
Fenella had a great character arc. I loved seeing Fenella’s growth throughout the story. She was sassy and fun, but she was also so kind, loyal, and giving. It was so fun to see her interactions with the locals. I loved how she grew and learned who she was and what she wanted over the course of the story.
Silas was a cinnamon roll dream. He was so loyal and selfless. His interactions with Fenella were so good. He was such a good guy.
This story was such a fun read. I loved the color and character of Laandia and its locals. Fenella and Silas were so cute together. The slow burn was so worth it in the end. Coffee Break with the Billionaire is a perfect read for fall.
Fenella is a billionaire influencer. After a very public breakup with her cheating rockstar fiancé, her father sends her to a quiet Canadian countryside. Hoping to get her out of the spotlight for a while for his business deal. This is where she meets Silas. He owns a small coffee shop in town and is such a good guy, something Fenella isn’t used to. Despite their different upbringings, sparks fly, and Silas wonders if he could ever fit into Fanella‘s world.
This is the seventh book in the Cinnamon Rolls & Pumpkin Spice series, but can be read as a standalone. It is a closed-door romance with a dual point of view. I loved all the fall vibes and how the main character loves her pumpkin spice lattes and how he hates them lol. This is a slow burn romance but I enjoyed getting to see them fall in love with each other. I didn’t like Fenella’s character at first cause she had a “spoiled rich girl” vibe but during the book she realizes it isn’t all about the material things. I like how Silas helped her see that. Overall, this was a sweet romance that easy to read and perfect for a cozy fall read.
This book will release on October 22, 2024. Thank you to offer Holly Kerr for my advanced readers copy. This is my honest and voluntary opinion.
I love the idea of an "opposites attract" romance, especially if the characters turn out to not be so opposite after all, and their strengths blend well together. This is what happens in this sweet romcom where socialite, Fenella, finds solace in the country of Laandia while trying to wait out a scandal. She ends up briefing local coffee shop owner, Silas, and their friendship quickly tries to turn to more. But Fenella is never meant to stay, and Silas will always stay.
The title is a bit deceiving because a Fenella isn't actually a billionaire (love the idea of a female billionaire though!), but the daughter of one. Money isn't an issue, though, but she rolls more like a spoiled child than a self-made woman for quite some time. That's where Laandia is good for her, and the story becomes most enjoyable. With the MCs being worlds apart, they dance around their attraction for a very long time, so I was a little disappointed how little page time of them we actually get together after all the lead up. I like solid closure, so that is more of a personal preference for me.
Overall, it was a cute story to continue the Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series.
