From the bestselling author of Christmas in Snow Falls comes a heartwarming read that's perfect for fans of Jenny Hale, Sheila Roberts, Debbie Macomber, and Jill Shalvis.
When Chelsea decides to play matchmaker for her unlucky-in-love brother Hunter, star forward of the Boston Blizzard, she never expects to find herself offside. But a chance encounter with Liam Eriksson, the dashing captain of the rival team, the New York Nordics, changes everything.
As the hockey season heats up, so does the chemistry between Chelsea and Liam. Suddenly, she's caught in a face-off between her loyalty to her brother and her growing feelings for the enemy. With the championship on the line and tensions rising both on and off the ice, Chelsea must decide if love is worth the penalty.
Will Chelsea's well-meaning meddling lead to heartbreak, or can she score the ultimate goal – happiness for both her brother and herself?
It wasn't horrible however, everything felt rushed and the build up to the climax just was lacking. It wasn't enough for me. However, I enjoyed the FMC.
Oh the melodrama! The stakes were not believable. They could have been with more build-up and background. This might be for you if you’re looking for a short hockey romance to get you out of a slump.
This book was a quick read. Way too many plot holes and areas that the story could have expanded but did not. The main characters feel a connection after little to no interaction. Any interactions between them are skipped over. A rivalry keeps being mentioned but other than the mentioning, there is nothing to show that a rivalry even exists. FMC seems to be in constant inner turmoil that honestly is a little bit extra. Her antics at the start of the book have nothing to do with the connection to the love interest. Not my style of plot development so not a book I would read again. Good story idea but just wish it would have expanded more to allow us to see the growth and interactions between characters in a way that felt natural.
I got this book free on Stuff your Kindle day. I love hockey romances and get them every time I see one. But this one is not making the favorites list. The MCs relationship with her brother is just too much for me. I mean I’ve heard of twins being super close, but she was just way too involved in his personal life. That was my biggest issue with it. And her relationship with Liam was lacking so much. I had no idea going into this book that it was so short so I realize that the author had to fit a lot into just a few pages. I definitely would not recommend this to someone for their first look into hockey romance. Honestly, I’m not sure that I would recommend it at all unless someone was needing something that’s a super quick read to fill their reading goal list.
I would give you a zero, but that's not possible... so I give you a one
Why? Just why?
She was a real egocentric and her relationship with her brother was honestly disturbing, on the verge of incest. And also tell me why this is a romance book when they literally had more cups of tea (five) than they had kissed. Overall I understand that it was only 127 pages, BUT the plot was too rushed and they "fell in love" while speaking in total like in 3 scenes (in one of them the brother is there and it's really cringe)
This is a hard review to write. It was a short read, the overall story was great. I felt at parts I was getting whiplash. It was like a movie montage bouncing back and forth between characters. A girl whose brother is a captain and star hockey player. She makes a secret dating profile for him, and in turn she falls for the rivals hockey captain. While trying to hide and live a double life so to speak everything explodes when her brother finds out. 🎄sports romance/ hockey 🏒 🎄 short read 🎄HEA 🎄brothers rival 🎄 clean romance
To be honest I read this book because it was like 200 pages or so and I am going through a reading slump, but I feel like there were so many plot holes which could have been expanded but were not. Since it is so short, it is also predictable, meaning that although the ending is short, it feels so dragged out and hard to read. There were many cliches?cliques?clichees?(dont come for me, english is not my first language) and scenes where the writing was just bad, but the beginning and the very end were cute so I guess you ll enjoy it!
Also in the very last pages the author wrote that she actually reads every review and would appreciate it if we left one so Im sorry if I said anything that makes you feel bad🥹
There's no explicit content, it's hockey related and I enjoyed the quick read. I would have preferred more details about the characters to put more flesh on the bones of the story and make me feel more invested. Yet, this was still a nice break from my longer books.
2.5 I know it was only a short book but there were too many time skips. Also it is written in third person which is not really mine. There wasn't any plot twists in the Book. It just randomly went to other people. The Chapters were pretty long.
I liked the characters, but I felt they could have been developed more. Everything felt very rushed, and the time jumps happened without really defining the time. It was a cute story but could have used a little more details
This was a very fast read. I liked the characters, Hunter acted like a spoiled brat in my opinion. I felt they could have been developed more. Everything felt very rushed, and the time jumps happened without really defining the time. It was a cute story but could have used a little more.
This was just….bad. Did not enjoy. The couple say 2 words to each other and then there’s magically sparks. The main drama of the book is so dumb. They act like it’s the end of the universe over nothing and there’s so many plot holes
Cute but no real substance. To much time jumping in plot each chapter. it reads like cotton candy dissolving in water. It’s there but vanishes as you sink into it
Short easy to read hockey romance. Forbidden love- brothers hockey rivalry team. This book was all about Chelsea and her brother Hunter- no depth/ dull plot. Chelsea and Liam’s romance was just not there at all. I received this from a stuff your kindle event.
Everything in this book is WAY to dramatic. - the sudden spark between Liam and Chealse - her brothers reaction - how “awful” the situation was. IT IS REALLY NOT A BIG DEEEAALL.
