Note that this book was written by Claire Saxby and illustrated by Christina Booth. This is another fascinating and informative information book for young readers in the Walker Nature Storybook series.As with other titles, it combines a lyrical narrative that tells the story of a male and female eagle, their mating, nest building and nurturing of two chicks. This is extended with fascinating factual information about Australia’s largest raptor. Further information and a glossary are included at the end. Booth's illustrations are wonderful - capturing the majesty of these giant birds, their grace in the air, their ferocity whilst hunting and gentleness when caring for the chicks. This silhouette endpapers and examples within the story are particularly haunting.
