Racing for Love: A Lesbian Sports Romance

Rate this book
It took a trip to Paris for these two women to learn to like each other, but will their race for the gold shatter their budding romance?

Paula
After two years of training with Deena Lovelace, one thing is she doesn’t like me. That’s okay, I’m not too fond of her either. But when our coach assigns us to be roommates at the International Games in Paris, I’m surprised to learn that our team Ice Queen has a warm side. I’m also surprised to realize that I’m falling in love with her.

Deena
I’ve never understood why Paula Martinez hates me, but when we’re assigned to stay in the same room at the Games, we unexpectedly become friends. My social anxiety and neurodivergence tends to keep people at a distance but with Paula, all I want to do is get closer. Once she gets to know the real me, I start thinking that we could have a future together, maybe even one of those fairytale sports romances. At least until our big marathon, when everything falls apart…

They play for the same team, but they’re also competitors. Will their desire to win at all costs make these athletes lose at the game of love?

“Racing for Love” is part of the “Playing to Win” lesbian sports romance series. Each romantic comedy is a standalone story centered around sapphic athletes who find love during the most important competition of their careers. If you like snarky enemies-to-lovers banter, competitive spirits, loving queer relationships, and a sweet happily ever after, download these WLW stories today.

I only had around 40 pages left but I just don't care about finishing it.
The writing and characters are really cringe, they remind me of 14 year olds.
I can't believe in their love when Paula hated Deena at the start and suddenly after one nice conversation is apparently in love with her.
I could relate to Deena and her social anxiety but it wasn't written very well imo

Wasn’t expecting much from this sports novella, because I never expect much from any short story. There just isn’t enough time to really get your feet wet. But WOW! There is spice. Yay! But that isn’t what gave this novella (which I truly despise) four stars. The message at the end is so important and I was impressed that the author went there in a short story. In my opinion everyone needs to read the end of this romance, for the message alone. Not for the love story (although cute), but a reminder that love isn’t about you and only you. Love involves so much more and demands so much more us. And others? They don’t care if you’re in love. If you’re there to do a job, that has to take precedence at times. Life is a juggling act, and if you’re not willing to throw your plates in the air, step back and evaluate why. I’m an old lady and I needed to be reminded of this message, making it all the more profound for me.

I enjoyed the story of Deena and and Paula as I have the rest of the books in this series. I liked how the author gave just enough detail to make the sports aspect believable without bogging down the storyline. The depiction of Deena and Paula's characters was interesting and relatable. I recommend this to anyone who likes sports related romance with a bit of spice.

2 stars. Much like book one I really hated the characters in this one. Both were incredibly annoying and the drama in this was just so boring. No chemistry between the mains which means the romance didn't land for me. IDK, this series is definitely not the best from Bale and I'm pretty sure there's one more book after this but I have no interest in it.

I actually really enjoyed this book. im not much of a sports romance kinda girl, but this one, for some reason, was so easy to get into, and it was super fast paced it didn't linger on or ramble on about nonsense. it was straight to the point. I loved the amount of smut it had. and overall, I rate it a 5 star.
