Holy Snowballs! Cancel everything because this one is unputdownable! I devoured this in one sitting and so will you.
Perfectly executed, super duper suspenseful and cleverly written psychological domestic thriller that slapped me in the face with shocking twist after wicked twist that left my jaw on the ground. Super easy read, fast paced, phenomenally entertaining and will keep you on your toes guessing while you’re glued to the pages.
This book has left me shook. Highly recommend!

I received an advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book is an absolute page-turner! I was hooked from the very first page and couldn’t put it down. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, the author delivered a plot twist so unexpected it left me reeling. The pacing was perfect, the characters were incredibly compelling, and the suspense never let up. If you’re looking for a gripping read that will keep you guessing until the very end, this one is a must. Highly recommend!

I have mixed opinions about this book, not sure where I land. I thought it was obvious at first and then it didn’t at all go in the direction I thought so that’s good. But by the end of the book, looking back the beginning ‘Audrey’ chapters didn’t really make sense, like it’s one thing if she was confused in real like but she wasn’t so why wrote the chapters for readers to make it seems like she was?

also no spoilers but i haaaate a happy wife happy life happily ever after ending

E.L. Faire I’m agog by this story , it’s perfectly written , in this genre I’m smitten. Excellent! I could NOT put this thriller of a read down.Blake Wallace can’t wait to spend time with friends in the mountain cabin . Then snow traps her in with her boyfriend before the others could join them . But as the snowy blizzard continues and their supplies deplete , there’s a feeling they’re certainly NOT alone in the woods…. Deceit or something worse is coming at them thick and sure . I’m glad I’m not alone reading anymore… A brilliant , suspenseful story that captured and enraptured me to read to conclusion with lots of twist turns and, aqà illusion of dread . Well this was ME not going to bed. Blown away with this thrilling story , read at one go , I’ll have you knowing , I’m just glad outside it wasn’t snowing … Bravo Etta your stories they really are better than most. The suspense was absolutely on point and perfect.

I picked this book up on a whim during a snow storm and I really enjoyed it. It kept a good pace and held my attention and one of the many twists really shocked me. The pie felt really unnecessary though, like really, why?

Wow.

I received a complimentary copy of If I Disappear through LibraryThing’s Early Reviewers program; my review is voluntary.

This book. Is. So good.

I, like most readers likely will, thought it would be predictable and that I had it all figured out from the beginning, but I still enjoyed the writing and the suspense of the getting-there. I was fully invested even though I thought I’d cracked it.

I *love* when a thriller has me fooled and I get it all wrong. This one got me. Well played.

If you enjoy suspense and thrillers, read this; you won’t be disappointed. So grateful I had the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. I can’t wait for more from E.L. Faire!

Two things stand out to me in this book. One is what a pleasure it is to read a dual-strand narrative where the protagonist of each strand feels distinct from the other, and the second is that the writer has done wonders with a tiny cast of characters and an isolated setting.

Our current-day protagonist, Blake, goes on a snow trip with her boyfriend to a “friend of a friend’s” snow cabin where everything that can go wrong does. There’s a snowstorm, the cabin has no supplies, there is no phone or internet reception, and her boyfriend’s friends don’t make it to the trip. I had an expectation that a cast of two might make for too tight of a story, but that was not the case. The story is expanded in several threads; through our second protagonist, Audrey, and the events that lead to her disappearance a handful of years before; through Blake and Audrey’s respective flashbacks; and through the clues Audrey left for anyone who might care to put together the truth of her disappearance.

If I Disappear is one of those twisty thrillers that is utterly satisfying when it all clicks together. The plot lines, the clues, the revelations – every moment of the story coming together pays off without feeling like it twisted just for the sake of being unpredictable or shocking. All of the clues were there with just the right number of red herrings done subtly enough to lead me as a reader exactly where the writer wanted me. It was nice to be cleverly deceived, to be lead to one understanding of Audrey’s events and how they relate to Blake’s position, only to be left with just enough uncertainty to doubt my own deductions.

This book is assuredly worth a read, though I have one minor gripe. Though I loved the development of Blake’s character, I found her a little irritating in the beginning chapters. She’s been with her boyfriend for seven months and found an engagement ring in his backpack a month ago and is happily setting off on this cabin trip in the belief that she is getting engaged. However, her opinions of her boyfriend aren’t stellar. Our first description of him is his “irritated face”, that he snaps at Blake, that she expects him to lecture her, and that he gets annoyed when she doesn’t do what he tells her. In turn, she gets annoyed when he goes through her duffel bag or when he expects her to do things for him, like… grab him a snack from the gas station? Soon after, she hates how he belittles her, then describes him as “so thoughtful”, that he really is a keeper, and then just as soon she hates how he trivialises her feelings, then he always knows exactly what to say to make her feel better. Blake, come on, girl, I know we’re in a twisty thriller here and things aren’t adding up, but at least try and convince me you like your boyfriend, especially if you’re excited to be engaged soon.

If I Disappear: A Domestic Thriller
by E. L. Faire

I received a complimentary copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

" If I Disappear" by E.L. Faire is an enthralling and action-packed novel from start to finish. The story introduces us to Blake and Corbin, a young couple who plan to spend a weekend away in a mountain cabin with friends. However, things don't go to plan from the beginning. Blake notices odd noises in the cabin, misplaced items, and Corbin acting differently. She concludes that she must face dangerous adversaries, including a questionable boyfriend. This book takes readers on a roller-coaster ride filled with intrigue and unexpected twists.

One of the standout features of "If I Disappear" is the exceptional storytelling prowess. The author seamlessly creates a gripping narrative that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. The well-balanced plot brims with excitement and suspense, offering an adrenaline-pumping reading experience. E.L. Faire's descriptive writing style shines, particularly during the action scenes, immersing readers in the heart-pounding moments as they unfold. Moreover, the author's skilful character development allows us to form a genuine connection with the protagonists, especially Audrey and Blake. This emotional depth adds a layer of authenticity and a delightful read.

"If I Disappear" is a captivating and well-crafted novel, earning a commendable 5 out of 5 stars. The story shifts between Audrey's past and present-day Blake; it is not confusing as the name of the focused character appears clearly at the beginning of each chapter.

This book will resonate with a broad spectrum of readers. Fans of crime thrillers will find themselves engrossed in this captivating book. However, some scenes touch on violence, child abuse, and sexual content, so sensitive readers should be aware. For those intrigued by a tale of mystery and intrigue, it is a must-read.

"If I Disappear" by E. L. Faire is a gripping psychological thriller that I couldn't put down. The Prologue, told in Audrey's tone of voice, really sets the tone for the novel and ends on a cliff hanger that pulls you into the book. In chapter 1, the tone of voice of the novel belongs to Blake who goes to a cabin in the mountains with her boyfriend Corbin expecting a cozy weekend of skiing & fun. Instead, they get snowed in & Blake discovers that the cabin is hiding a sinister secret when she stumbles on an old guest book. The guest book hides a clue to the mystery of a missing girl & Blake is determined to solve it. Can Blake solve the mystery of the missing girl before it's too late or will she "disappear" just like the previous girl who was at the cabin? The novel seamlessly switches between Blake's & Audrey's point of view with twists & turns around every corner until it ends in a shocking conclusion you'll never see coming.

WOW! What a book! I could not put this book down! It was gripping and suspenseful! I was engrossed in Blake’s story for the entire book! E. L. Faire does an excellent job of developing her characters into people you can relate to. Her prowess for writing a captivating and compelling plot is unparalleled.

Blake finds herself caught in an untimely snowstorm with her boyfriend who is taking them to a cabin he knows well for one final weekend adventure. Blake stumbles on the cabin’s secrets and, at that point, I was so hooked that I couldn’t read fast enough.

The story is told in alternating viewpoints by Blake and Audrey. Both of their stories will have you quickly turning page after page and leave you breathless by the end of the book.

This is E. L. Faire’s first venture into the genre of psychological thrillers. I certainly hope she will write many more! I can’t wait for her next book to come out!

I was given an advanced reading copy of this book. My review is my own.

I have never read anything by E.L. Faire before, OMG this was fantastic. I could not put this down, this was a super page turner. There are small clips of Blake from a child and Audrey. We have lots of twists and turns. Blake can't wait to spend the weekend away from it all in a secluded snowy cabin in the mountains with her boyfriend Corbin and his friends. It turns out to be a blizzard. They stop a a small mini mart and Blake picks up a little food. She sees a sign of a missing girl Audrey Randall, who disappeared from this area. Blake hears noises in the cabin, things seem to be missing, and Corbin seems to be acting strangely. Is the cabin hiding secrets? Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from E.L. Faire!!!

I haven't read a thriller in a long time, and I'm so glad I gave this one a chance. Although I shouldn't have started it right before bed, lol. I could not put it down. I had to know what happened next. I thought I knew how this was going to end, but boy was I surprised. Full of twists and turns you will not see coming, along with a surprise ending that blew my mind. Full of mystery, intrigue and suspense, this book is very well written, and had me hanging on the edge of my seat. I'm very much looking forward to reading more thrillers by this author.

I received a free ARC from the author, and this is my honest opinion.

I'm impressed with E. L. Faire. This is their first book, and I was entertained from beginning to end. It was a lot of what you want in a thriller but with some unique twists. While it might not be the next great American novel, it was a very fun read that kept my complete attention. (Not easy to accomplish lately)I will definitely be following this author for more future stories. I also feel like this would make a great movie. Some of the books I would compare it to would be "Intensity" by Dean Koontz, "No Exit" by Taylor Adams, and "Hunted" by Darcy Coates. They aren't similar stories, just exciting, edge of your seat thrillers.

I thought this book was really good. It grabbed my attention right from the start, was really hard to put down, and had lots of plot twists that kept me guessing right up to the end.
There are two different story lines, Audrey from 3 years ago and Blake in the present, but I thought it worked well and I didn’t get lost or confused when it switched between the two. There were enough plot twists that it really kept me guessing, but I was able to keep track of what was going on. It kept me guessing right up to the end and there were a couple good plot twists that I never saw coming.

I read this thrilling, twisted, twisting tale in a couple of hours. I couldn't put it down! It is a mystery within a mystery that in part lets you know who is bad and who is worse, yet never lets you know which one actually did the dirty deed until almost the end.
If you want to read a real whodunit this is the book for you. Let me know if you figure it out before the ending because I didn't.

What an outstanding, well written thriller this was. So many things that did not seem to gel all did in the end... and what an ending. It is so common place to say "never saw this coming", but this ending, wow, never saw it coming. Such an awesome, brilliant conclusion. What a great movie this would make.

I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller ~ I found it a stimulating story that was easy to follow, with well written characters. I always enjoy trying to 'figure' out the plot twists....but I only figured out 1...so that was a nice surprise in a sense because I really hadn't expected the ending...
I don't think you'd be disappointed.

THE PLOT TWIST

Finished this book in two days, it was so hard to put down! I love a good cabin thriller book and this one is absolutely one of my favorites!! YOU THINK you know how it’s going to end but I promise you, you don’t! (Also) the back and forth with Audrey’s life is important, it ties together beautifully with the ending of the book!!

This book somewhere surprised me. I thought it would be more predictable than it was, but the twists were actually great. I enjoyed the dual timelines, but I liked the Blake story a lot more than Audrey's past story. I found some of the past timelines a little boring, I still really liked the story and look forward to reading more books by E.L. Faire.
