The baron’s daughter, Alessandra Barrett, has worn a mask from a young age due to an injury. Many say if you were to see the face behind the mask, you would be cursed and die soon afterward. She is seen as a ghost, avoided by all who visit the baron's home until she becomes the duke’s wife.
No one could understand why the duke would pick such a wife. Did he wish to die?
What would become of the girl who once hid in the shadows but now had the spotlight on her as the duke’s masked wife?
What would everyone say if they were to learn the truth that she was in a contracted marriage with the duke?
Just finished all the books. The story line was excellent as were the characters development. But the books seem to have a problem with grammar. Incorrect use of tense. Frequently using incorrect pronouns like he when should have been his. Writing his instead of hers, sentence structure. I felt like a spell check was done but spell check recognizes correct spelling even when a word is incorrect. I think the books would benefit from proof reading. The errors are many and distract reading
Alessandra and the Duke remain my favorite characters but there are many others who make the story more interesting. This one was just as good as the rest, if not better.
I enjoyed the story itself, but found it extremely annoying that it was divided into 19 short books, each costing around €5.00.
Moreover, who ever edited the books did a very poor job of it, as the books are riddled with spelling mistakes and grammatical mistakes. Almost every page had spelling mistakes. This lowered the quality of the series greatly. Also, as I got to the last part of the last book, there are a few chapters added that are pure "fluff". It was not needed and lowered the quality of the book series even more.
However, my rating of four stars is based on the actual story, which I really enjoyed.
