Chrissie Hubb is an Author from Blackburn, Lancashire in the UK. She writes Children's Books and Short Adult Fiction. Chrissie was employed in Children's Education for over twenty years. During the first lock down, she wrote three Children's books for the children in her class to keep their spirits up in the dark times. Chrissie has written stories since she was a teenager, but it is only now that she has had the time to share them with the rest of the world!
This charming and hopeful sci-fi story by Chrissie Hubb is incredibly thought-provoking. I can't say too much about the plot as I don't want to spoil it for other readers, but I would certainly recommend this for teenagers and school-aged children.
One scene, in particular, stood out to me—the charming moment with the dogs. It really hit home and connected with me, being a dog lover myself. I must admit it brought a tear to my eye, in the best possible way.
I read this book in two sittings and found it easy to read. This is the second book I have read by this author, and I am keen to explore more of her work. Chrissie Hubb has a way of weaving together heartfelt moments and imaginative storytelling that keeps readers engaged from start to finish.
Set on a planet far from earth, devoid of any joy or pleasure, Shelley and Tom are Messiah type figures that reinstall purpose in the lives of the residents of saparide. Drawing on past mistakes, they seek to repair the devastation. it is evident throughout the story that society on earth could also suffer a similar fate if compassion and empathy become forgotten traits. The underlying moral and premise is incredibly thought-provoking and i would love to see this as a must read book in every high school in every country. It's a message, that if instilled in the younger generation, then the world has a chance of being the kind and loving society that it has potential of becoming.
I liked how this book explains human nature to an alien civilization and shows how those ideas can hurt and help make the world better. Tom and Shelly work together as a strong team, and their cooperation and shared outpost make the adventure engaging and meaningful. It’s a thoughtful sci-fi story with a positing message and what it means to be human.
