Christmas off Script: A Friends to Lovers, Steamy Romantic Comedy

Rate this book
Leo Foxbrooke is Ella Chamberlain’s best friend, her rock, and the one person who is absolutely, 100% off-limits.

Kind, charming, and unfairly gorgeous, he’s the heart of Foxbrooke Manor. Meanwhile, she’s the girl who just got dumped, lost her apartment, and landed on his doorstep days before Christmas, looking like the ghost of bad decisions past.

Moving into his family’s fairytale home is supposed to be her chance to regroup, not lose her heart. But then she ends up in the room right next to his and somehow gets roped into the town Christmas play as his Cinderella. Those ‘practice kisses’ on stage? They’re setting her world on fire.

Leo’s always been her steady, unshakable constant. The one person she can count on, no matter what. But risking everything to follow the spark growing between them? That could cost her the one thing she can’t live without – him.

Christmas off Script is a messy, magical, and oh-so-steamy story of risking it all for love. If you’re looking for festive fun, fiery chemistry, and a guaranteed happy ending, this standalone romcom is the perfect holiday escape!

This was such a fresh, fun, friends to lovers Cinderella inspired British holiday romance that revolves around a Christmas panto production.

Full of tons of sweet, spicy and swoony moments and great on audio narrated by the author herself. It’s a perfect choice for people looking for something different this holiday season. (And available for free on the Hoopla app).

While this is part of the Foxbrooke series it can easily be read as a standalone.

Are you ready for the swooniest Christmas book you’ll ever read? I am sooo in love with this story! Ella and Leo are 😍😍😍 from start to finish, and I know you’ll adore them! I always wanted to write a book set around a Christmas panto, and using Cinderella gave me the chance to write a modern fairytale with the Duke of Somerset’s son Leo, and his best friend from the other side of the tracks, Ella.

“I absolutely loved this Cinderella retelling. It was definitely unique and different from any version I have seen or read. The family aspect in this book is not only lovable but adds just the right amount of laughter to the storyline. The Foxbrooke family are all out in force which was an absolute joy. I guarantee you will enjoy reading this one and will have pain from laughing so much but also swoon at the end!”

“Oh. My. Goodness. 🎄 "Christmas Off Script" by Evie Alexander is an absolute festive gem, and I'm completely in love with it! 😍 I've adored all of Evie's books, but this one? Am I allowed to have faves? Because I think this is it. Evie has totally nailed it with this friends-to-lovers story. 💕 Usually, I'm a bit hesitant when it comes to that trope, but Evie has worked her magic again! ✨ I fell head over heels for Leo and Ella.
And, oh my, the chemistry between them is just *chef’s kiss* 😘! I loved how their relationship unfolded. It felt so real, so natural, and I was rooting so hard for them. 🙌
This book is Christmas perfection and will leave you with the biggest smile on your face!! 😁 I can’t recommend it enough! Buy it and read it ASAP! 📚✨”

“A Christmas themed book by one of my favourite authors? It doesn’t get any better than this! This book was everything I hoped it would be and more! It was an absolute joy from start to finish. I was laughing and smiling so much! An instant mood booster and such a sweet escape!

As with all of Evie’s books, her writing is so vivid and lively that I could see every scene playing out in my mind. There is so much spice and lots of laughs too! The ending was perfect! It gave me chills and I couldn’t stop smiling!”

“Absolutely delightful Christmas romp! It is official. I love Foxbrooke and the entire Foxbrooke family. Book 5 of the series gives us Leo Foxbrooke's story. His friends-to-lovers tale with BFF(FFFFF) Ella was absolutely delightful. They are both sweet and gorgeous characters with a long lasting special friendship and an intense love of all things Christmas. Set prior to Christmas, amidst rehearsals for the pantomime 'Cinderella', Evie milks Christmas for all it is worth, and I loved every minute of it. There is plenty of angst, hilarity, swoon and spice, with over the top characters (both delightful and despicable), ridiculous situations, festive puns a plenty, and a whole lot of FUN. I loved that it all takes place in and around Foxbrooke Manor, where I could wallow in all the Foxbrooke eccentricity and sweetness, and the happily ever after was perfection. My new 'must-read' festive favourite.”
Sarah

“This is such a fun book, very enjoyable. The baddy, the ex and the always there best friend, a love story written in the stars, she finds her happy ending has been right under her nose all the time. I fully recommend this book to others. If I could have given it more than 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I would, that’s how much I enjoyed reading it!”

“Every time I'm lucky enough to get my hands on a new book by Evie, I know that I'm in for a treat! This is the fifth book in the Foxbrooke series and I've read and loved all of the others so far.....but oh my word! I didn't think I could love any one book more than the others, but combining the usual inimitable style that I've come to love with a Christmas theme just made this the best one ever!!
Evie's books are always packed with humour but I honestly didn't stop giggling throughout this one. Cheesy cracker jokes, Christmas puns, hilarious panto lines and props (yes Arthur, I'm looking at you here!) are just some of the gifts in store.
Mirroring the panto story with Ella's real life backstory was just genius and I just couldn't help falling in love with her and root for things to come good in the end.
With the usual inclusion of pitfalls and super spicy scenes along the way - you'll have to read to find out how things develop!?
I could not put this book down and devoured it in just 2 sittings. I'm actually so upset it's ended and honestly cannot wait to get hold of the next book.
In the meantime, I'm definitely going to be re-reading this one again and again!
I'm obsessed!”

Christmas Off-Script by @eviealexanderauthor is a festive love story with all the feels! 🎄❤️

Blurb: ’Tis the season to fall in love…

Best friends Leo Foxbrooke and Ella Chamberlain love Christmas and each other—in a strictly platonic way, of course. The only secret they've ever kept from each other is a mutual crush they had when teenagers. But the timing was never right.

Until now…

Dumped by her boyfriend, Ella’s facing Christmas homeless and alone. The only ray of sunshine in her life is Leo and his family, who welcome her into Foxbrooke Manor. Staying in the bedroom next to Leo’s is a luxury and means more time together prepping for the Christmas pantomime.

Leo always plays a side role, and Ella paints the sets. But as the clock ticks down to Christmas, they find themselves center stage playing Cinderella and Prince Charming. Rehearsal kisses between best friends should be easy. Right? So why do they feel so real?

Ella can’t risk losing Leo when she’s already lost so much. But as the Christmas countdown heats up, hearts melt, and practice kisses turn into much more. With Leo and Ella falling for each other faster than the snow outside, maybe this Christmas, they can finally rewrite their friendship and unwrap true love…

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Christmas Off-Script is my favorite entry in the Foxbrooke Series thus far!!! Leo has my entire heart, as he is the sweetest fictional man in existence. I. Love. Him. So. Much!!! His dedication to Ella and the holidays was endearing and beautiful. Their relationship was so pure and I LIVED for the ever-present Christmas puns!!! Friends-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and Evie writes it excellently here. Overall, Christmas Off-Script is a jolly good read with sexy moments that are sizzling hot! ❄️🔥💙✨

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read/review this ARC! 🤩📚

I do love a Christmas romcom and Evie mixing Cinderella and the Foxbrooke clan is a cracker of a combination. How gorgeous is this cover.

Leo and Ella have been BFFs since childhood with neither of them realising their true feelings for one another. Ella is dumped and made homeless so who steps in to help, Leo, of course. She moves into Foxbrooke Manor and finds herself not only enveloped in the bosom of the family but being roped into playing Cinderella in the annual panto.

Ella has not had the easiest of lives so far and I love that it mirrors the Cinderella story. Leo is the fantastic, fexy, fabulous friend that everyone needs. Sexy, sweet and incredibly loyal.

With the story being set around the panto, it's brilliant having the whole Foxbrooke clan back together again. With Arthur around, there is never a dull moment and I've never laughed so much at his antics.

This is such a sweet, best friends to lovers story with Evie's usual spice. But with the addition of Ella's family and an ex friend from the past, it touches on other more serious topics including drugs, emotional manipulation and mental health.

Although I've loved all the books in the series (I did have a favourite), this one beats them all for me.

If you love a best friends to lovers, forced proximity, small town romance then I highly recommend this one to you.

Thank you so much Evie for the opportunity to read an ARC copy. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series.

I am an absolute sucker for a Christmas romcom, and this ticks absolutely all my boxes!
Firstly, how cute is that cover art? This would definitely demand my attention on a bookshelf, and it just completely embodies this story!
Panto season - the peak for us Brits at Christmas - though I have to disagree with the information at the start saying it's only a Christmastime treat, we have an Easter and summer panto up here too! My teenager always loves them breaking character and the dames making rude jokes - so he would love to go to the Foxbrooke panto!
I adore all of the Foxbrooke family. They are bally brilliant - to pinch a phrase from Arthur. The way they rally round each other and those they love is so special. It's truly a family to be proud to be part of, and in reading this series, I feel a small part of it.
There are so many absolutely outrageous laugh-out-loud moments in this, mostly at Arthur's expense, but I also particularly enjoyed Dervlas rendition of the Bonnie Tyler classic!
There's also hard-hitting themes, Evie never shies away from rough topics. Included here is cheating, mental health, crime, drugs, emotional manipulation, and abuse. I loved how sweetly Ella was able to overcome her struggles with the love and support of her found family.
It, of course, would not be a book of Evie's without a hefty dose of spice! Seeing Leo's sweetness during these scenes made them so much hotter.
This is an absolutely beautiful, friends to lovers tale, featuring the fexiest, most fantastic, fandsome-est Foxbrooke (yet).
I read this in a couple of sittings over the course of one day. I absolutely could not put it down.
There's a beautiful epilogue which I loved, it just so perfectly drew the curtains on their sweet story.
With another few siblings to go, I can't wait to read on in this series.

Love, love, love this author! She never disappoints! Love these zany characters from Foxbrooke manor and can’t get enough of them. Leo and Ella’s story will immediately suck you in and won’t let you go until you’ve devoured the entire book. Forever BFFFFFFFF’s, lol, finally get their eyes opened to the fact that they love love each other. Everyone else has seen it for years. But neither was ready to push the friendship boundaries quite that far for fear of losing their bff status. Fate, thankfully, wasn’t going to let them off the hook though. After some breakups and mishaps and the entertaining Christmas traditions Ella decides to dive in head first and enjoy everything Leo Foxbrooke has to offer for as long as he’s willing to offer it. And boy can he offer it! Thank you for the introduction to the Christmas tradition of pantomimes. Attending a production, especially a production by Foxbrooke manor (I wish), has been added to my bucket list! Put this one at the top of your Christmas reading list for a truly fun loving, laugh out loud, wild ride time. Can’t wait for more books from Evie! I finished Christmas Off Script just in time for the new year. I listened to the audiobook narrated by the author; she did a wonderful job. I found this British Christmas romance to be refreshing and fun. The friends-to-lovers trope between Ella and Leo was sweet but also steamy. I enjoyed the Christmas panto part the best because it was a modern and hilarious retelling of Cinderella.

Thank you to the author for my complimentary copy.

Highly entairtaining, with inspired dialogue, deep emotions and a satisfying ending, this is a clever double-faced Cinderella re-interpretation, both in the plot and in the pantomime - and at Christmas time, no less.

I was certainly astounded by Ella's goodness, and Leo is truly Prince Charming, but the atmosphere at the Manor and the interaction of the characters truly is an astoundingly successful framework to the story.

I enjoyed this immensely!!!!

Every time I'm lucky enough to get my hands on a new book by Evie, I know that I'm in for a treat!

This is the fifth book in the Foxbrooke series and I've read and loved all of the others so far.....but oh my word!
I didn't think I could love any one book more than the others, but combining the usual inimitable style that I've come to love with a Christmas theme just made this the best one ever!!

Back in Foxbrooke, we follow the story of best friends, Leo and Ella.
We've met both characters before in previous books (only briefly during the other storylines) but I instantly knew that I was going to love this one.
Ella is just the sweetest and the strong connection the pair already had, having been best friends since school days, was just adorable to see.
It was pretty obvious where this story would lead, but what an amazing journey we had.

The Foxbrooke family are all out in force which was an absolute joy.
Preparing for Christmas and planning the panto made for the perfect festive backdrop to Ella and Leo's story.

I absolutely cannot do this book justice in my meagre words but all I can say is that if you haven't already read this series - go grab them all now!
You will not be sorry!!

I could not put this book down and devoured it in just 2 sittings.
I'm actually so upset it's ended and honestly cannot wait to get hold of the next book.
In the meantime, I'm definitely going to be re-reading this one again and again!

4.5 ⭐️

This was my first time reading a book by Evie Alexander, and I was not disappointed. This was such a great Christmas romance, and I loved the panto aspect throughout. Leo's family seems so chill and laid back, and I need to read the rest of this series. I want to know more about the Foxbrooke's.

This book is the 5th instalment in an interconnected series, and it was a best friend to lovers romance. There was a bit of a slow burn at the start, but once it kicked off, there was no stopping it! Ella seems to have the worst luck and is a huge people pleaser. I can't understand why anyone would treat her so badly as she is an angel! Not to worry though, as her BFFFFFFF (that might not be enough F's), Leo is there to help her when she is in a tough spot.
Their friendship is so wholesome and is just general BFF goals, to be honest. The banter between them is so good, and the fire that sparks between them is even better. This book had me smiling and kicking my feet. Leo and Ella were so freaking cute and I couldn't get enough of them.

I don't normally enjoy a book that is Christmas orientated, but there was so much humour, drama, and mischief that it was hard to put it down. The Christmas Panto was so funny, and it really put me in the Christmas spirit (which is unusual for me in November). I would pay to see Arthur in a Panto. I don't care what anyone else says. He was the star of the show!

This book is perfect for readers who love
- best friends to lovers
- close proximity
- He falls first and hard
- Found Family
- Spice
- Christmas
- Pantomime

Thank you so much to the author for allowing me to read an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait to read about the rest of this family!

I think you’ll really enjoy this new book by Evie Alexander, if you want to read about Christmas, Pantomimes, crazy family members at Christmas and best friends who actually love each other.

This is Ella and Leo’s story, involving a Christmas Pantomime about Cinderella, but Ella actually deals with her own evil step-mother & rude step-sisters. Ella and Leo have been best friends since they were young, Leo has always looked out for Ella and when Ella gets unexpectedly dumped and kicked out of her flat, in the span of a day, Leo steps in and offers her a room at the Foxbrooke Manor.

As Ella is heavily involved in the latest Christmas Pantomime, being held at the Manor, she agrees to stay there until Christmas. It doesn’t hurt that Ella has secretly always had a serious crush on Leo but she has never acted on it. Of course Leo has always liked/loved his best friend, but he never understood how deep his feelings ran. Elle gets pushed to play the lead in the pantomime, and of course Leo offers to play the prince, after Ella’s ex unexpectedly returns and literally breaks a leg.

The pantomime they work on is hilariously funny, Leo’s father who has been in every book in this series, doesn’t disappoint with all of his crazy ideas. Past characters include Henry, his wife Libby, Leo’s sisters Estelle and Summer and of course Leo’s father is in the thick of it, and in my opinion he steals the show!

If you want to read a delightful Christmas romp with quick banter and a laugh out loud love story than definitely read this book, better yet read this series. All the books in the Foxbrooke series are interesting, funny & interwoven with love.

A perfect Christmas romance — just the right amount of sweetness (that would probably be too much in a normal romance), lots of family drama that resolves in a sugar drop of warm feelings, and holiday traditions that I wish my family could adopt. I loved returning to Foxbrooke and seeing cameos from previous couples in the series. The story was also so amazingly English that I was ready to expatriate. Oh, and the spice? TOP NOTCH. Adding this to my holiday re-read list!

If you’re looking for a book that gives ALL the festive feels, offers humour in abundance and serves up enough spice to make a gingerbread latte jealous, then look no further than this book. Ella and Leo are quite possibly the cutest potential couple ever and their fast-paced, Christmas-obsessed banter endeared them to my silly old heart from the off. This is the first book in the Foxbrooke series that I’ve read and if the others are anywhere near as debaucherously (yes I just made up a word - this book DESERVES it) funny then I’m all in. Go read it.

Christmas Off Script by Evie Alexander
This is the 5th book in the Foxbrooke Series. It can be read as a standalone, but you will miss all of the shenanigans.

In Christmas Off Script we get
Cinderella
Best Friends to Lovers
Christmas

Leo is the Perfect Cinnamon Roll/Golden Retriever hero. He is so wonderful! Kind, thoughtful, empathetic. He is so swoony!

I'm going to be honest, Ella starts out as a total doormat. And I've written so many times about how I just can't abide women characters that are doormats. I had a hard time with this story simply because of Ella's core character. However, the character of Cinderella is a total doormat and needs to find her spine. Ella's backstory provides absolute truth as to why she is a doormat. I don't know many characters who have gone through what she has gone through and not escaped the doormat portion of the trope. She eventually finds her spine and gets her happily ever after!

I adored the Christmas Miracle! It was such a surprise and an absolute treat!

Oh, my goodness… Evie just made my day so much brighter with Leo Foxbrooke antics, every woman on this planet deserves a Prince Charming like Leo in their life. I absolutely adored Leo in this story with his sweet antics and patience but reliable dedications. I loved, loved this interpretation of Cinderela, Ella was the perfect double-faced retelling of Cinderela both in her real life and on stage in the pantomime Christmas show. Leo and Ella start out as friends both secretly in love with the other once, he was her rock as the world around her crashed, she was his world, he would take whatever she gave him..., always there when she needed him in whatever capacity, WOW! The way they interacted, complimented the other and relied on the other was so genuine and sweet. I swooned each time I loved every second of this book and devoured it. Their story will bring happiness, fun, a little sadness but most of all pull you into the amazing world of the Foxbrookes that is always so much fun to read with their crazy antics. I love reading about all the Foxbrookes, their mammy and mom and their hilariously funny dad, Arthur and his antics. But Leo and Ella story has been my favorite so far and I plan to read it over and over as I have done with the others. The pantomime had me in stitches laughing, wanting to be part of one of those silly shows and wanting more. I absolutely loved the ending. If I could give this book more than a five I would, thank you Evie for another Amazingly brilliant story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I simply loved this book

The relationship between Ella and Leo off the wall absolutely hilarious 😆 made me laugh how I wish for a relationship like that

What a sad time Ella had but what a heart

Leo’s family on another planet too funny and quirky I don’t know that I’d cope with them

How loving they were though just accepting of Ella as their own

The pantomime was hysterical the ideas popping up were off the wall so British 😆

A truly moving BFF to lovers awesome or should I say BFFFFFF very sexy too

loved it thank you

Foxbrooke does Christmas! The latest addition to this excellent series concentrates on two people from very different backgrounds who have assiduously friend-zoned each other - until circumstances and feelings contrive to send them in another direction. Ella's life has more than a few parallels to the character she ends up playing in the local pantomime, and maybe her own Prince Charming isn't as far away as she thinks?
Leo and Ella's relationship is pure sugar and spice: their friendship is incredibly sweet with its festive traditions and the way they're so attuned to each other. Then they finally cross that line and whoa, who steamed up the kindle? I loved how they overcome their obstacles and have such care for each other, all against the backdrop of a pantomime production that provides plenty of comic relief. It's also great fun to be back in the bosom of the Foxbrooke family (and what a bling-encrusted, artificially enhanced bosom it is too, because if ever there's an ideal dramatic vehicle for Arthur Foxbrooke, it's a panto). I heartily recommend - well, the entire series, to be honest, but this particular book should definitely bag a prime spot on any Christmas-themed reading list.
Thanks to the author and Booksirens for the advance review copy. All opinions are my own.

A massive thank you to the beautiful Evie for letting me be an arc reader! Such an honour!🖤

This book is a warm hug I think everyone needs, our main female character Ella is a beautiful, strong and caring woman who honestly does everything for everyone else. Living a real life Cinderella situation with the most unbearable step mother as well as step sisters, Ella finds herself out of her home after a harsh break up.

The story includes some of the funniest lines I have ever read, honestly I was howling! Are you joking with some parts of this book? A pantomime was everything I have ever needed in a romance book. As always Arthur was a star in this book and just gave it so much life and humor. Leo’s character was a heartfelt man who just truly was in absolute love with Ella from the start. Childhood friends to lovers is a new favourite trope!

As always Evie delivered the steamiest spicy scenes with so much love and passion. One of my favourite things about Evie’s writing is the realism used there is no super crazy expectations in bed! It feels so real, like I’m gossiping with Ella and she’s telling me all about it! Evie’s writing never fails to impact my life in every way possible this book does not disappoint, as someone who really is not a Christmas girlie this was fantastic and my new staple of a Christmas book to read each year! Wow what a fantastic instalment in the foxbrooke series!

🚨SPOILERS LOOK AWAY🚨

OH MY GOODNESS, the picture he still has that Ella made him when they were younger this part of the book genuinely hit my heart so much I was bawling my eyes out it was such a pure moment! My heart was just so full at this point and I think for me that’s when I was like wow they are potentially my new favourite couple! (I can’t pick a fave they’re all so special to me in each way!)🖤

Back to Foxbroke for the Christmas panto & a Cinderella retelling. Christmas Off Script was so deliciously christmassy. If you're looking for a new festive favourite, you should give this a shot.

I must start by saying I'm not usually a huge fan of friends-to-Lovers, but I am a massive fan of @evie & the Foxbroke family, so there was no way I was missing out.

Leo & Ella are softer characters than Evie's previous leading pairs, there's a shyness as they both come to realise their feelings for each other, but don't worry, Evie still manages to keep things spicy which she does so well.

One of my other favourite things about Evie's writing is her sense of humour & it turns out a panto is the perfect setting to let this roam free. Arthur is his usual hilarious self, but magnified & utterly incorrigible in his role as ugly sister. It was also great to spend time back in Foxbroke Manor with the other characters we've got to know throughout the series.

Thank you, Evie, for my copy. I will always recommend this series if you're looking for good stories, with spice & humour. This series is for life, not just for Christmas (though it might make a great present 😉).

I received a digital ARC of this book. I love Evie and I’ve read all the previous books in this series (which I recommend reading in order). This one was a little different because it not only has things specific to the UK, which Evie includes a letter explaining it to those of us not in the UK, but the story itself is similar to Cinderella. You have the wicked stepmom and 2 nasty stepsisters who treat Ella horribly. So it took a little slower start for me than her previous books. However, once I got all the characters and storyline mapped out in my head, I loved it just like her other books. If you haven’t read Evie before her books are steamy, and this one was no different. I love the character development and growth of Ella as she develops her backbone toward all the different characters who have been horrible to her, all in different ways. The guy bff Leo, who rescues her over and over and helps get her confidence back every time. No spoilers on exact storyline, you’ll have to read it for yourself!

I loved the whole Foxbrooke series, but this is my favourite. Leo and Ella's story. Loved the quirky characters especially Leo's family. The author did a great job in dealing with the abuse in Ella's family.
Ella has no place to live and since they are BFF's Leo invites her to stay at his family home. They find a way to tell each other how they feel eventually. Great story

Absolutely delightful Christmas romp.

My new 'must-read' festive favourite.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A Sweet Christmas Themed Romance

Leo and Ella's story was a best friend romance where the two are unaware of their feelings for each other. Reading this story at the start was a bit challenging. I found Ella's character irked me. She wants to be so good and struggles to put herself first. She will continually do things for others even when she doesn't want to. She is a complete juxtaposition from Estelle who I really resonated with. Ella is often timid, quiet and while I wanted to feel badly for her I struggled to find sympathy. I think the reason her character bothered me so much is because I'm a recovering people pleaser. I often said yes to things I didn't want to do because I didn't want to disappoint people around me. I feared failure and wanted to make my family proud. Even though my family was never horrid to me and always supported me. Which Ella does not get to experience and that is why her character bothered me.

There were many instances where if she just communicated many concerns could have been avoided. Within the first few chapters her entire life has fallen into pieces around her. Her long term relationship suddenly ends and she has no where to turn. It was a very cute concept to have Ella's life mimic Cinderella.

Leo, while confident and capable, is as bad at communicating as Ella is. Many issues arise from the lack of open and honest conversation. I found it incredibly frustrating. I wanted to shout at the both of them. Given chaos that becomes her life, Ella moves into Foxbrooke Manor and ends up playing in the Panto. Between old partners returning, bad family relations, Ella gets treated with terrible regard. I wish at times, she had had a moment of rage and let out her inner feelings. Though I know this isn't real life and often people will suffer in silence.

The story really ramps up closer to the end and I found myself cheering for the love of Leo and Ella. The miscommunications and accidental misunderstandings were still quite prevalent. But we saw a light at the end of the tunnel. As with all Evie books this one does end in an HEA and we get there in the end.

My thoughts on the story overall, I always commend an author that can make me feel strong emotions about a character. Be it positive or negative feelings that illustrates excellent work by the author. Evie definitely made me feel things with these two characters. I wanted to shake them both but they truly found a place in my heart. I think because the two of them are so different from anyone in my life it was challenging to empathize but I really did enjoy their story and their finding happiness together. There was incredible growth and development for both Leo and Ella. I am looking forward to more in this world and I hope we get to see some Summer and Finn action. Additionally, I love the spice index that Evie is credited for coining. It makes finding our favourite parts very easy. I love Evie books because I know they are feel good and they allow for a different narrative than my usual morally grey books. These ones are fun, hilarious and bring a different perspective. I have been a fan since Highland Games and will continue to be for eternity because no one makes me laugh quite like she does! Great work and I cannot wait for more.

Oh my goodness this was so funny, feel good ,laugh out loud and I was in a crowd hilariously laughing . Precarious too if her love life was anything to go on and of course her haters loved her downfall. Ellie big for her boots Chamberlain and a guy of Oliver Fitzcannon’s stature. She had it coming they said when fate reared its ugly head . Her father Ronnie is getting out the big house early , lord help her. Oh no he isn’t you say ,well I’m afraid oh yes he is… Too early? Ok I’ll move on. So Ella of course has a lazy good for nothing stepmother and two daughters who do nothing that but put poor Ella down . Her one best friend is Leo and he’s asked her to play Cinderella in Pantomime! Won’t that be a blast . Stuff the upperclass twerp Oliver she has her friend on which to depend! When she’s out on her ear from all she holds dear ,well her family at least. Though her father’s a beast. Leo Foxbrooke, her best friend comes to the rescue and moves her into Foxbrooke Manor ,thanks to his mother and father. He’s nobility the Duke of Somerset no less and it shines through. Ella is thankful too. Panto rehearsal is easy to plan with Ella living at Foxbrooke .They soon get to rehearsals and show they mean business. She is set to paint the sets and help out with props and Leo always takes on a minimal role maybe a footman he would’ve suited or coach driver even ? But things look a bit lean and there’s a mad dash to fulfil the top bills. So without further ado ,what can they do but step in. They know their lines ,it’s a tale as old as time…Wait! Wrong Pantomime! Where was I ? Oh yes Cinderella that’s the one with the Pumpkin coach , mice and Prince Charming. Well rehearsals are neat but should they pack this much heat in scenes between friends and all. She’s rehearsing the scene and she’s having a Ball , and he doesn’t want to stop at all. Well it seems the Christmas magic is shining through everything they do and see, as the snow falls so do they . Isn’t it sweet? I say yay! Well what do you think of that boys and girls ? Didn’t they do well? Prince Charming and his Belle. Wait!! No don’t get your knickers in a knot I’m not wrong this time I didn’t mean the name I meant she was the belle of the Ball our Cinderella and her fella so swell. So back off sister else things could turn ugly ,ya can tell that to ya sister as well. Where was I ? Oh yeah…And off script too with these two besties turned more . I think that deserves an almighty encore from the rest of the cast, because Ella and her fella called Lee have had a blast and are extremely happy with their lot and although matinee was nice ,it was great to do that reprise. Off script or on Stage the stage was set by Evie Alexander . Always a safe bet. Her storytelling prowess and writing too are second to none I’m telling you. Perfect prose and steamy as all heck , wasn’t it nice when he kissed her neck? Heaven in a handcart hot and full of heart . Take a bow and curtesy too. Because off the stage and Christmas Off Script was a brilliant show playing out in our heads before we lay down in our beds . Bravo! Encore ! More ! Once more take a bow. 👏🏻 Chow.

🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

This audiobook was an absolute dream to listen to! I am a huge lover of a British accent and being able to hear Evie voice the whole audiobook was an absolute dream!!

I loved how she made each character their own in her own way. I loved this so much I can't wait to hear more of her audiobooks from her backlog!

Ella and Leo stole my heart from the very beginning of the story. I am a huge lover of all things Christmas, so they were already at the front of the line in my book. I am not British so learning about a Pantomime was so much fun! I loved being able to see how they pulled everything together for the panto along it everything else going on in their lives.

Ella truly love that life of Cinderella except with a huge twist that I never really saw coming. I thought okay this is a huge bummer but then it was like WHAM!!! I felt for Ella and all that she had to endure, I kept hoping that she would truly speak up for herself. But I also understand why she felt that she couldn't. She was literally stuck between a rock and a hard place. I loved Ella for who she truly was, because she was a true and genuine person. She wasnt the rude, nasty skin deep people that her stepmom and sisters were. She genuinely cared for her stepmom even when she didn't deserve it.

I truly fell for the love that Leo and Ella had for each other. It all starts as a fleeting glance and a I dont think of them like that and it literally snowballs. I love that these two embraced it and took it to that next level with each other, even though they were scared. Love is scary sometimes, but y0u just have to take the leap!

Leo was definitely one of my favorite characters besides Ella within the character heavy story. I love that these books are so character heavy because you get to see all of the characters from previous books. These characters are definitely the ones that you want to see over and over. Leo wasn't the biggest character that I can remember from the previous books but I am so glad that this was his book! He was the best friend who was more than willing to kick some behind for the one person who truly made him the happiest. I think it was a bit of a shock to his system when he finally realized that Ella was the one for him and always has been. He just needed the nudge to see it and take that extra step.

🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

Ella and Leo had so much chemistry between them and not just socially but also physically! They had exactly what it took to make it work in the bedroom! I would definitely say that they would make the bedroom an interesting place where there would be plenty of games!

Thank you so much to Evie for the free review copy! All opinions are my own, honest, and voluntary.

You can read all of my reviews at Nerd Girl Loves Books.

This is book 5 in the Foxbrooke book series and it's time for Leo to fall in love. It's a fun and sexy friends-to-lovers contemporary romance. Leo and Ella have been best friends since they were teenagers - but they are both secretly in love with the other. When Ella's long-term boyfriend suddenly breaks up with her - by phone, no less - and kicks her out of their shared home, Leo comes to her rescue and takes her to his home at Foxbrooke Manor.

Leo's family embrace Ella and Leo's father, who is begging to become a grandfather, puts her in the room right next to Leo. The family is in the midst of preparing the yearly Christmas pantomime (Christmas Pageant/Play for those not in the UK) put on by the Manor. Normally Leo and Ella take on rolls behind the scenes, but when a series of unfortunate events occurs knocking out both the male and female lead, the duo are volun-told to take on the lead parts of Cinderella and Prince Charming. Nervous about playing romantic leads, they decide to practice kissing - which, of course, leads them down the road to sexytown. Deciding to be friends with benefits, they begin a hot and steamy affair while they try to sort out their feelings.

It took me awhile to warm to Ella because she was so meek and had so little self-esteem at the beginning of the book, it was hard to read about her. She definitely had a rough life and was treated badly by her family and ex-boyfriend, but it was still hard to understand how she couldn't stand up for herself in even the simplest ways. But, that's my problem, not a problem with how the story was written. I loved it when Ella started to feel better about herself and started to have a voice. With Leo, she was able to come into her own in the safe place he made for her. For his part, Leo played the "playboy" role well, but had deeper feelings and more talent than he'd let anyone, even his family, know. But again, with Ella, he could be himself.

I loved reading short scenarios about the entire Foxbrooke family, especially Leo's father. The father cracked me up, especially when he and another character played the ugly step-sisters in the Christmas pantomime. I actually laughed out loud several times.

If you're looking for a funny, sexy romcom with wonderful, quirky characters this book (and entire series) are for you. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up right away.

I received a complimentary e-copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own.
