This book is both informative and disturbing. It’s a high-level summary of the proposals/arguments set forth in Project 2025, with commentary/criticism to frame each. Many of the priorities are recognizable from actions taken by the current administration in the first 100 days - which begs the question of what’s coming next?

The focus is Project 2025's push to centralize executive authority and reduce regulatory oversight risks, with the author arguing that these efforts will present a stark choice: act to preserve democratic institutions or risk sliding into authoritarianism.

Not an enjoyable read, but the information is valuable.

DISCLAIMER: I did not actually read this particular book; it was the closest to what I read-the actual Project 2025 Leadership Mandate. The mandate is tough to read. It has its good points; it has its bad points. It refers to the next CONSERVATIVE president at times and the NEXT president at others. Claims against the Democrats are mentioned. Abolishing/reinstating standards are mentioned. The mandate was actually created back in 1979 with Ronald Reagan (who implemented 50%) and gets updated every 4 years. Trump has implemented 64% of it during his presidency. Overall, it looks to take us back to the 1950’s era or before. It appears that ANY president can use this reference, but it is promoted as being conservative. Some of our rights have already been taken away. More could be taken away if fully implemented.

A chilling read
"Project 2025: A Mandate for Authoritarian Leadership" is a chilling read that left me deeply unsettled. I think Simon Pierce does an excellent job dissecting the Heritage Foundation’s blueprint, revealing a vision that feels straight out of a dystopian novel. The prospect of a Christian Nationalist autocratic state is terrifying, and Pierce’s analysis is both thorough and alarming. The detailed breakdown of proposed policy changes made me realize how vulnerable our democracy is. This book is a wake up call for anyone who values civil rights and democratic principles. In my opinion, it's a must read to understand the potential future under a second Trump administration. I couldn’t put it down.

Biased Review

I was very disappointed on the highly visible bias by the author. I wanted to learn about Project 2025 and instead I got to read all the progressive view points and reasons why the liberal progressives hate conservatives and the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights

Covers a LOT of material

This book is a synopsis of the 1000 page Project 2025 by the Heritage Foundation . The 2025 project is a blueprint of how the Republican Party plans to shape our country's future. The plan rolls back many of the guide rails that protect "the many from the avarice of the few" (eg. large corporations and the uber wealthy) Say goodbye to climate change, public education, medical care, equal opportunity, woman and minority rights etc. Government organizations (eg. Dept of Human and Health Services) should be run by political appointees (eg Robert F. Kennedy) rather than people that are knowledgeable. Most government positions should be filled by folks from the Conservative Heritage Foundation. Pack the judiciary with ultra conservative judges. The president should have almost unlimited powers. Gerrymander voting districts. Take us back to the early 1950's prior to woman's choice rights and LBGTQ. The USA should be isolationist and stop engaging with the world. The religious right is using Trump as a puppet to make this happen.

This book exposes the dystopian world the right and religious extremists are trying to create. It may give you nightmares.

This so called project is disturbing. It undermines the human spirit. sIt' beyond disturbing. Trying to control what you didn't create (MAN) is ASININE. Forcing another individual to think as you do is just plain ignorant. No one person has a right to tell another how to live, think or breathe. This so called project undermines "checks and balances". This is dangerous, an exaggeration of those who think they because they have some power that they have the right to control others they deem to be beneath them. Every thing written in this hurts people more than it helps. Those who contributed to this thing have zero meaning of accountability, zero understanding of human rights, human decency, zero understanding or any care about anything other than what benefits them. This thing is self serving and a complete misrepresentation of what doing the RIGHT THING is all about. Reading this has made me even more determined to continue to treat others in the manner I want to be treat. Human decency is truly being lost.

Simon Pierce’s "Project 2025" is certainly an eye opener. I liked that the book meticulously unpacks the Heritage Foundation’s plan for a second Trump administration, and I must say that the picture it paints is frightening. The author's comprehensive analysis of each chapter shows a systematic dismantling of protections we take for granted. The sections on civil rights and environmental safeguards particularly struck a chord with me. It's hard not to feel a sense of urgency after reading this. I think this work is a crucial read for anyone who cares about the direction our country is heading. This book left me both informed and deeply concerned. Recommended.

A book I liked reading

This is an essential but deeply troubling read. The book’s detailed analysis is eye-opening. Pierce lays out the potential impact on civil rights, healthcare, and the environment in a way that is both accessible and alarming. In my opinion, this book is a crucial reminder of the importance of staying informed and vigilant. The writer has provided a valuable resource for anyone concerned about the future of our democracy. It's a stark warning that should not be ignored.

Educate Yourself

Don't vote blind. Let this book and others like it guide you with needed information to make a reasoned and critical decision. Believe me, you don't want the proponents of Project 2025 anywhere near our democracy. It is all our responsibility and civic duty to protect each other from these autocrats and theocrats. I wish all citizens well. Educate yourselves. Don't vote blind. It's a long read, but it's worth the investment. For out democracy.

The title of this book is deceptive. It is a rather anonymous author’s interpretation of Project 2025 (“we read all 900 pages so you don’t have to “) with a definite bias. If you want to learn about the program from its authors you will need to get the original. This one should be titled “Project 2025 for Dummies “.

To say I “finished” this book is not necessarily the case. This book sits near me during the day. It is the framework of our administration and I honestly question how people are surprised at the shutdown. It’s been in place since the Heritage Foundation created it. Everyone needs a copy of this. It’s happening.

A sobering experience

Reading "Project 2025" by Simon Pierce was a sobering experience. I believe Pierce’s analysis is clear and precise, making it easy to understand the potential consequences of these policies. The idea of an autocratic state dismantling civil rights and worker protections is something I never thought I’d have to worry about. This book is a stark reminder of how quickly things can change. The author has done a commendable job highlighting the stakes. It's a must-read for anyone who cares about democracy

Full disclosure - I did nit read this word for word. I skimmed and gained context. Written prior to the 2024 election, it summarizes, with some analysis, Project 2025. Much of what is happening in the current Presidential administration is outlined here.

I gave it a no rating. It was informative and if you want the government to be VERY INVOLVED in your personal life, which I do not. They are already doing too much. Actually it took me so long to read because it made me feel physically ill to my stomach and heaven help us if the people who wrote this get any power to enforce it
