It's all hands on deck when a teenager visiting Maui disappears one night, and all signs point toward wrongdoing.
With Charlie and Jake working together for once, they're going to have to put aside their feelings for each other if it means getting to the bottom of this case. And things get even more intense when it turns out there's a connection to someone they know.
With time ticking away, Charlie is all too aware that every minute counts if they want to find the teenager safely. But she and Jake are in more danger than they realize.
Will Charlie bring the victim back home safely before the Kihei Kidnapper becomes the Kihei Killer?
The story line was entertaining, but. Charlie's whole character has gotten so unbelievable. She runs roughshod over the FBI and local police but is excused, every single time, because she's smarter than EVERYONE ELSE, no matter their training or expertise. In the real world she'd have been chunked into jail and left there.
This particular book has so many holes, it's almost laughable. The bad guy even manages, to put the attention on his wife, to shoot himself in the back. Yep. In the back. Dude must have seriously long and flexible body parts to do that. At one point, his shooting is referred to as a murder even though he hadn't died. There are totally unnecessary characters introduced that have no intrinsic value to the story. The "years" Addie begged to go with her friend to Hawaii before her mom relented boils down to first ask as a sixth grader, then she gets to go as a ninth grader. So two years it's a no. Two. Insult to injury, the ending sucks. It just ends.
Horrible editing. I won't bother continuing to read this series.
I’ve read all the other books in this series, and really loved them. I was excited to catch up on this one. Buttttt the entire story was off. The books starts out kinda in the middle of an investigation with a weird wrap up. Starts off with Jake immediately on a case, nice change of pace, and Dot and Rosie falling into the story with zero pretext. The locations were normal, usually there are better interactions with the locals. There is no way she was near the bread truck and didn’t get some. I know we got the killer, but the ending was vey abrupt, as in missing the last 1-2 chapters as the rap up. I am willing to go out on a limb and wonder if maybe it’s just this kindle version? Maybe I can hire Charlie to find out for us
Charlie is hired to find a kidnapped teen and figure out who did it. This book moved fast. The only error I found was on page 65 where the character ‘s last name was wrong. Charlie’s mom suspects her new boyfriend is cheating on her. Rosie and Dot are on the case and the FBI looks like clowns again! I laughed out loud!
Charlie is smart, funny, crazy, and determined. She is backed up by Rosie and Dot a great duo. Jake her detective boyfriend is supportive and she has the support of her best friend Zoe!! What more than she ask for besides not getting tasered! Onto book 13!!
As usual... I really enjoyed this engaging, fast-pace story with some twists and turns. Charlie's elder sleuthing "partners" are awesome. I love how together, they get the "bad guy" before the stubborn, haughty FBI.
Lots of spelling errors and story errors. Calling Henry Newhart Henry Newman at one point. Saying Amanda was born and raised in Denver then a few lines later mention she moved to Colorado for college
I love all of Jasmine Webbs books. They never disappoint. Her characters and plot lines just keep getting better. Take your pick, Charlotte Gibson, Poppy Perkins, and MacKenzie Owens. Better yet, pick them all, and you won't regret it.
Super fast read, I love these books when I just want something quick and light to read. This one wasn’t my favorite, the ending was rushed and it didn’t seem to lead into anything else. Still love this series, and can’t wait to read the next one! Who knows what Charlie is going to get into next!
Charlie gets involved in a case of mistaken identity and she and the gang try to solve not one but two mysteries when a family comes to Maui for vacation
I’ve always enjoyed Jasmine Webb’s Charlotte Gibson series, despite subtle promotion of her liberal stance (but that’s her right to “free speech”) and I believe we all a right to our views despite being different. Charlotte Gibson series including this one is fun and light with enough twists to be enjoyable. The ending of this book however seemed flat and abrupt. A few things felt unfinished, very disappointing ending.
