The Charming Irish Series by Kaylene Winter is an interconnected series following the McGloghlin Brothers. Each book can be read as a standalone as each of the brothers find their HEAs. This is Brennan McGloughlin and Astrid Gustafsson's story.

Brennan and Astrid went to school together, and he had the biggest crush on her, so much so that he was a tad stalkerish, but once you understand his personality, you get it. Anyway, Astrid hopes to get Brennan to help her with their High School Reunion, and things get heated along the way.

If you’re looking for a book with spicy spice but a well thought out plot and storyline, stop now, you have found your next read! Before you even hit chapter one, you are drawn in by the prologue! Kaylene starts this angsty story with a huge bomb drop and you’re left, mouth gaping and screaming in your head, what’s next?! Talk about a hook!

Astrid always looked perfect on the outside but inside she’s so full of insecurities and feelings of not belonging. When a chance meeting happens between them, a kinship forms that grows and matures. But all through the friendship sparks are flying. They both keep things platonic and never make a move thinking the other wants it that way until finally fall into their desires for each other and ignite the pages! Along the way comes all sorts of chaos, challenges, secrets and misunderstandings that our hero and heroine will need to overcome. But you have to read for yourself to find out what happens! Daring Destiny: Brennan and Astrid (Charming Irish Book 2) by Kaylene Winter is a romance between former high school classmates of in-demand high-end realtor Astrid and tech CEO Brennan. When Astrid sold Brennan’s brother Conner’s family an exclusive home, she reached out to Conner to relay to Brennan that she had something of his that she needed to return and wanted to talk to him. Once Brennan contacts Astrid, he learns she has an idea for a new technological app that could be used for their high school reunion a few years before the actual reunion. Over time, their friendship turns into a slow-burn romance that goes from simmering to red hot boiling-over as they obliterate the friendship line to being involved. Brennan’s brilliance allows him to build a successful company due to his ability to hyperfocus, which is a part of being neurodivergent. Yet, his hyper-focusing also causes issues as he can be so tunnel-visioned that he neglects all relationships, including Astrid. Despite Astrid’s apparent success as a local top realtor, she didn’t feel passionate about her work. Due to how her parents and family treat her throughout her life, she never thought she was “good enough,” so she has emotional baggage weighing her down that she brings to the relationship that develops between her and Brennan. Brennan engages in a legal battle with his board member investors in his company, Cognify AI, which consumes all his time and focus. Soon, he only wants to be rid of his company, which has evolved from his original concept to reaching worldwide success but is no longer recognizable as what Brennan originally developed and wanted to be the acting CEO of. Brennan and Astrid have issues with their family: one good, one lacking, and hurtful. This is besides the internal emotional scars each carries into their relationship. Kaylene Winter can bring two unlikely people together to find forever love regardless of their flaws and imperfections. The Charming Irish series by Kaylene Winter are books that tug at the heart and give the reader a book to ponder long after closing the story's last page.

In Daring Destiny we met Astrid and really get to know Brennan. The billionaire tech genius that no one looked at in high school and the high profile real estate agent that was the popular cheerleader reconnect to help plan their high school reunion, which ended up with them partnering up together. With all the time together, their relationship evolved. but secrets were kept and heartache happened. Their story is definitely a slow burn that has numerous obstacles that get in the way. Once that fire is lit though, that spice level is kicked up, have that fan handy!!! This is definitely a must read!!!

Daring Destiny by Kaylene Winter is the story of Brennan and Astrid. He was always the quiet, nerdy guy that everyone made fun of. He’s loved her since high school and thinks she’s never even seen him. Now, he’s a wildly successful entrepreneur and she’s a hugely successful Real Estate agent. When she reaches out to him via his brother…things will never be the same…for either of them!!

Sweet read! I loved Brennan and his grit, determination, and understanding. Astrid is hesitant, wary, and distant. When they work together on their high school reunion, they start to see that neither is what the other thought back then!!

This is the second book in this impressive series and this is Brennan and Astrid’s journey.
Brennan had a crush on Astrid in high school, and he is surprised almost a decade later, when she approaches him about collaborating on a secret project.
This is a well written easy to read, slow burn story, with family, friendships, emotions, friends / lovers, opposites attract, undeniable chemistry, a life changing twist, challenges, tension, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining, spicy, and captivating addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Brennan is the tech guru of the family. When he’s approached by his high school crush he’s skeptical about what Astrid could possibly want. They reconnect and work on a project for their 15 year reunion. What starts building as a friendship turns into so much more. Brennan is neurodivergent and sometimes is oblivious to things around him. This causes issues that these two have figure ways to handle.

Daring Destiny by new to me author Kaylene Winter is the second book in her Charming Irish series, which can be read as a Standalone, seeing as it is was also my first read from the series.
In this Friends to Lovers, Opposites Attract, Slow Burn, Billionaire Romance, we follow the story of Brennan McGloughlin and Astrid Gustafsson through the telling of their dual perspective.

When it came to the overall story, author Kaylene did deliver on giving great characters that allowed for an in-depth development of Brennan and Astrid. Both emotionally and mentally, given the lives they led, adding to the overall narrative, since it played into their story with bringing them together.
All the whilst laying down a developmental plot to go alongside them, with the inclusion of the usual drama, that also came from family. Suspense due to the mystery of the secrets kept, that were alluded to at times. And some surprises, as well as some unexpected twists, that was shocking to say the least.

When it came to Brennan and Astrid, they led you through an emotional journey.
From all the feelings and emotions they faced, endured and sometimes suffered, you couldn't help but get into the feels alongside them.
It helped that author Kaylene always ensured the characters themselves made it known loud and clear in their POV chapters, hearing their inner monologue express those emotions.
Ultimately showcasing the depth of both Brennan and Astrid’s characters, given the ups and downs and highs and lows which led to it. Mostly in part to what they were dealing with at times, given the situations and events they found themselves in and apart of, leading to back and forth, whilst simultaneously pushing and pulling within their growing relationship. Given the changes of their flourishing relationship that took them from Friend to Lovers.
Whilst some was due to their personal lives, given their backgrounds we were presented with. Bringing forth friends and family as secondary characters from the parts they played in the overall story.

Although Daring Destiny did have its good moments, unfortunately there were some cons that just couldn't be ignored.
The first being the many time jumps. Whether it was a couple of days, a week or a few months, it was just too much, stated at the beginning of nearly every chapter. And it was something I couldn’t comprehend as to why.
The story feel a little rushed with the constant time past, which although was summarised, it felt like it was a way to cut corners. And in my personal opinion, it would've been nicer to read about it in detail sometimes.
The other issue for me was the narrative felt a little repetitive, going from a piece of the plot to then finishing it off with a spicy scene. Only to do it all over again, going from plot to spice, plot to spice, plot to spice.
Although it wasn’t a bad thing per se, it just made a story fall apart little flat for me. Mostly since it led to a somewhat even level flow with hardly any ripples or waves I had been hoping for.

With Daring Destiny being my first read from Kaylene Winter, she still did a good job with Brennan and Astrid’s story that was delivered. Making for a pleasant read with being a sweet, warm and cute story overall.

Daring Destiny is the second book in the Charming Irish series by Kaylene Winter. It is a steamy billionaire, opposites attract, friends to lovers, contemporary romance with an unexpected twist. Before founding an AI company in college, Brennan McLaughlin spent his high school years pining for Astrid Gustafsson. A decade later, he was surprised when she wanted to collaborate on a project together. Over time they became friends and then lovers, taking the leap into hoping for a future. But Brennan’s mistakes threaten to smother their flames. When fate intervenes, Brennan and Astrid have to make the choice whether to embrace their destiny. This book had the characteristic incendiary chemistry, heavy on the spice, and the emotional ups and downs I have come to expect of a Kaylene Winter novel. She does an excellent job at creating real life relationship challenges for her couples and, in this case, that included the challenges of neurodiversity and childhood trauma and how they can impact someone’s participation and perception in a relationship. Both Brennan and Astrid had their own baggage which impacted the way they reacted in a given circumstance, and their ability to ultimately negotiate these challenges was admirable. I enjoyed the story, which was definitely on the high frequency spice side of an open door romance. I love the way Kaylene’s characters are interconnected with all of her previous novels, especially as Brennan’s brother, Connor was one of the members of Less Than Zero. I definitely recommend this novel for readers who enjoy spicy contemporary romance novels. So, if this interests you, pick up your release day copy today.

I would like to thank Kaylene Winter for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

These McGloughlin boys are gonna be the death of us... Our hearts can't take it!!!
Kaylene brings us the 2nd tale in the Charming Irish series... This  time up it is Brennan's story. The third oldest McGloughlin brother, sensitive reclusive tech genius. I just love him he is charming thoughtful, sensitive and kind.

I' m always willing to review a book with all my favorite tropes together in one book- slow burn, opposites attract..
Astrid and Brennan went to high school together and  she was always his dream girl just out of his reach. In the years since high school they both have built successful  careers and businesses respectively. Brennan has always held a torch for Astrid and when she gets in touch for a secret project for their high school reunion there was no way he wasn't going to take the opportunity to get to know her better! The chemistry between them was slow but so electric!!! This  love story set among GLIMPSES  OF our favorite cast of Irish brothers is a slow burn of intense proportions.
So many surprises along they way that I won't give away here. You jusut need to read it.

A beautiful friendship develops between Brennan and Astrid even when the pull towards more complicates both of their lives. They are both resistant to take that next step. Our Brennan is convinced he can't be a billionaire whiz kid and a decent boyfriend, Astrid is a certified workaholic who has scars deep from family trauma. I love the connection they share, both so driven but so willing to compromise with one another.
Check out this story if you love a  power couple vibe, slow burn intensity and a deep love connection.

I really enjoy Kaylene Winter's books; they offer something a little beyond your usual romance. Having read all of her Less than Zero books and then the following spin-off series, I knew that I was going to enjoy Daring Destiny, and I wasn't disappointed.

This is an old friend reconnecting and then becoming something more romantic. It also has the added level of featuring a character who is neurodiverse. This gives him a different way of looking at life and also makes him a very different but still very desirable romance hero. In many ways, he is perfect for Astrid, and the two of them make for a perfect balance.

I really enjoyed this romance and couldn't put it down, getting through it in just over a day. I loved the different levels that Kaylene Winter brings to her stories; this is no exception. All of her books are interconnected, but you don't need to read any of the others to enjoy this one (I recommend that you do though) you don't even need to have read the first in this series.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the Charming Irish series, which I think will feature younger brother Seamus.

First, let me say that I love how all of Kaylene's books are connected in the same world. I love how often all my favorites from other books (or even series) can pop up at any given time.

This is book 2 in the Charming Irish series featuring the McGloughlin brothers. Connor McGloughlin's story was part of the Less Than Zero series. The mains in this book are Brennan McGloughlin and Astrid Gustafsson.

This was such a sweet read. But, I say that about all of Kaylene's books. I feel as if I am a distant cousin to all of her characters so I eagerly leap into their stories. With such interconnected series as these are, it easily feels like spending time with family. These characters are well written and keep me interested in their stories. It's easy to root for this couple. The story is well developed and paced. You're not left with boring sections or confusing sections. Kaylene has hit it out of the park again with this book.

I'm a huge fan of anything Kaylene writes so was looking forward to this book, and wasn't disappointed.

Brennan McGloughlin is the 'techy' brother and has his own AI firm, which as it gets bigger and more successful seems to bring more corporate angst that he wants.
Astrid Gustafsson is the realtor who sold Connor, the older McGoughlin brother, his house.
These two were at high school together and Brennan secretly had a crush on her. When they are brought back into each others orbits he finds he still has a crush on her and it appears that she's not immune to him either.
A friends to lovers story with great plotlines and characters.

The book incorporates, as it should, previous characters, and this would be my only niggle, but I suspect it is only me! I felt that some of the conversations and situations between Cillian and Brennan didn't follow through into this book and I thought they would have from a continuity point of view.

I'm so excited to read this! It was everything I hoped and more!!!! Astrid and Brennan are an amazingly hot couple.

Brennan and Astrid went to high school together and they meet again. They become friends and I love their friendship. As the months grow, their friendship blossoms.

Brennan is a dirty talking man and oh my dog, is it getting 🔥 🔥 🔥 in here. Heaven help me!!! Astrid is independent and gorgeous… I love her to pieces. They complement one another so well. As they struggle to juggle life along with a relationship, they have to figure out how to heal and communicate as a couple.

This book is divine, a breath of fresh air. This love story is about healing, grace, and the willingness to feel again. Plus it's absolutely steamy! I loved it!!!

This was cute.

Brennan and Astrid went to high school together and complete opposites. She was the popular girl, he was nerdy loner.

When opportunity strikes Astrid reaches out for a favour. She did not expect to fall in love.

This story takes place over a three year period. It starts with a “cliffhanger” and then goes to the beginning of the relationship. By the end of the book you understand why the prologue read the way it did.

I enjoyed Brennan and Astrid’s love story and have them 4 🦋

Wow, just wow! Astrid and Brennan make my heart soar. There was a spark when they first reunited, but it took them so long to confront their feelings. Amazon / B&N / Apple / Google / Kobo

When Brennan's contacted by his old high school acquaintance, he's surprised but not ready to engage. Back then he had a huge crush on her, but his baggage and their opposite natures kept him from ever telling her. Knowing she only wants to connect regarding their upcoming high school reunion, and finding out she has an idea for an app though, has them starting a slow burn relationship that ends up as much more than two old high school acquaintances. But that baggage they both have could mean they're not meant to be.

This pair of opposites had their work cut out for them to get to the happy ever after I was rooting them onto. Not only were Brennan and Astrid complete opposites in personality, they had baggage up the wazoo - his neurodivergence and hyperfocusing on his career, her insecurities brought about her horrible home life, but their professional lives intersected in ways that could have easily been too much to surmount. But their journey, though emotional and at times hard to read, turned out to be heartfelt and sweet. Their emotional connection is so solid, I just knew they'd make it, and they did! I love this couple, and am looking forward to more of the McGloughlin clan falling in love.

Daring Destiny is the second book in the Charming Irish series by Kaylene Winter. Each book can be read as a standalone in the series, but as always, I recommend reading them in order to get the most out of the characters. If you are a slow burn, friends to lovers fan, this spicy read will be just right for you.

In this book we welcome back Brennan McLoughlin, the founder to a big time AL tech company and all around techie. When happenstance brings Brennan’s crush from high to his door asking for a favor for their high school reunion, who is he to say no. Afterall, this is Astrid. Astrid the prettiest and most popular girl from their school, the one who he spent all his time thinking about and crushing on during his four years of high school. She was the popular cheerleader and he was the nerdy boy, they weren’t in the same circles back then.

Now it’s different though.

I love a good underdog story, and while Brennan certainly isn’t one, he views himself as well. Years later, when these two meet again, they are different people with different lives and different experiences. Each of them have had challenges that they have had to face, problems they have had to work out, views of themselves and how the world sees them to deal with. High school was a long time ago for both of them. Brennan and Astrid start as friends and build off of that which I think is perfect for these two, while they do know each other from school, they both are so unsure about themselves that starting anything other than friends just felt off. They learn more and more about each other, and the attraction between them naturally grows, making the best kind of slow romance read.

While Daring Destiny is filled with emotional growth, giggles, and swoony nerds, it also has a nice level of spice and an ending that left me smiling.

I just finished reading Daring Destiny, and I have to say, it was a delightful experience! This book is the second installment in the Charming Irish series, and while it can stand alone, I found that having some background on the characters really enhanced my enjoyment.

The story follows Brennan and Astrid, whose slow-burn romance unfolds amidst billionaire intrigue and unexpected twists. I loved the opposites-attract dynamic between them; Brennan's wealthy lifestyle contrasts sharply with Astrid's grounded nature. Watching their relationship evolve from friends to lovers was captivating, and the build-up kept me invested throughout.

Winter does a fantastic job with character development. I felt a deep connection to Astrid—her resilience and empathy made her relatable and likable. Brennan's complexities added depth to his character, and I appreciated how their struggles intertwined. It was easy to root for their happiness as they navigated their feelings for each other.

The writing style is engaging and filled with snappy dialogue that kept the pacing brisk. I enjoyed the modern pop-culture references sprinkled throughout; they added a fun touch to the narrative. The balance between sweet moments and steamy scenes was just right, making it an enjoyable read for anyone who loves contemporary romance.

Overall, Daring Destiny is a sweet and spicy read that delivers on both romance and character growth. Kaylene Winter has crafted a story that resonates with themes of love, friendship, and personal growth. I’m giving this book a solid 4-star rating for its engaging plot and well-developed characters, and I can't wait to see where the series goes next!

This is the 2nd story in the Charming Irish Series. I did not read the 1st story and did not find myself confused reading this beautiful love story of Brennan and Astrid who went to high school together where Brennan was considered a nerd who had a crush on Astrid the beauty everyone wanted to know and date. Years later Brennan has a successful tech company that’s been his life and Astrid is a successful realtor to high end clients. When Astrid sells a secluded mansion to Brennan’s brother and sister-in-law she mentions knowing him and that she has something of his. After some time Brennan agrees to meet Astrid, she asks Brennan if he’d like to help develop an interactive program for their High School Reunion. Brennan jumps in and joins forces with Astrid that brings enjoyment back into his creativity especially when it’s got nothing to do with his AI company. This friendship becomes something that both cherish so when it becomes more they find what’s been missing in their lives and enjoy life. They have struggles, secrets and families that influence who they are. They each have emotional issues that factor into their lives and have them questioning their life decisions. Brennan is something special that his family treats as an equal and Astrid has a family that treats her as an outsider. Brennan’s Board of Directors are out to make his life miserable and take over his company from him and Astrid gives him what’s needed to fight for himself and their new venture. When secrets are revealed Brennan and Astrid’s relationship is tested and how they deal with the fallout will break your heart and rebuild it a solid foundation of Love!

Brennan and Astrid emerged as another remarkable couple in this ongoing series. It appears that the men in this series choose smart, strong, successful women who come with complexities, not necessarily negative, but their busy lives and other priorities lead them in different directions, making forming and sustaining a relationship with them challenging.

Witnessing Brennan and Astrid together was heartwarming. Astrid was everything Brennan needed, perfect for him in every way. She showed Brennan that there was more to life than just work.

Astrid was a vibrant character, outspoken and protective of what was hers, yet carrying emotional scars. We enjoyed her witty banter with Brennan; their conversations brought lightness and carefreeness to both of them. Their explosive chemistry was captivating, and we rooted for them as a couple despite the challenges they faced, including obstacles, distance, and setbacks.

Brennan's family played a significant role in his journey, offering unconditional love and support without judgment. In contrast, Astrid's family dynamics were different. This story was filled with emotion, heartbreak, and challenges, as the couple navigated through a learning curve together. The obstacles they encountered tested their relationship, but their love was resilient. Brennan, while not as swoonworthy as his brothers, was a sexy, lovable man with expertise in the bedroom. Oh, my heart! Brennan and Astrid were so much more than I was expecting! The prologue — set in present day — hooked me right away. The story then begins two years ago, and Brennan and Astrid's slow-burn romance unfolds in the most delicious way.

My heart ached for both of these characters at times. Neurodivergent Brennan and his vulnerabilities, how he still feels like the geek from high school even though he's one of the most successful tech giants in Seattle. Astrid is one of the most successful realtors in the area, but she always feels less-than around her family. Both of them put on a mask to the world, yet when they are with one another, they both feel like they can be their authentic self. I loved that they had that connection, and how their relationship had a strong foundation of friendship before things turned romantic.

And wow, gotta appreciate the dirty mouth on sweet Brennan. This book mixes the spicy spice with family drama (there's an overlapping timeline with Cillian's book, Tender Temptation, and there's also lots of drama with Astrid's folks), sweet and vulnerable moments, and several plot twists.

Daring Destiny is definitely worth checking out! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Daring Destiny second book in the charming Irish. If Billionaire, slow-burn, close proximity, friends to lovers a surprise pregnancy. If those are you jam this book is for you.

You follow Brennan and Astrid story. The man had a huge crush on her for all high-school even if he never talked to her but despite being from different world he suspected the real Astrid the one nobody knew...because she was the it girl of course and him the cute nerdy guy.

Astrid asked Brennan for help with the school reunion...things changed well she's still the it girl but now a successful real estate agent and Brannon The tech CEO.
They do reconnect and work together at the reunion and of course when 2 people are attracted to each other spark flies things happen but it start start with friendship but it does evolve to something deeper but you know there's always some kind of drama so be prepared but of course it was sweet, swoony, spicy and everything in between. It is a standalone story and can be read without reading the first book but for best enjoyment I recommend to read Tender Temptation (Cillian &Ivy) story.

“Real connections for someone like me are rare. This is one I shouldn’t let slip away.”

Daring Destiny was a heartwarming story of love, acceptance and healing. Brennan had had a crush on Astrid in high school, but he was the nerdy boy who was too much in his head and she was the popular cheerleader. When they cross paths again years later, Brennan has never forgotten Astrid and is stunned to learn that the connection he feels is mutual. These two certainly have to overcome many obstacles on their way to a HEA, but the journey is so fulfilling.

“In his arms, the world fades away, and I feel whole—safe, cared for, and completely loved.”

Both Astrid and Brennan face challenges in life that have made them question their worth. Together, they are able to see themselves differently and to begin a path toward self-awareness and healing that helps them deal with their issues. While they truly understand each other, it is not an easy path and their story is a roller coaster ride of emotions, but it’s beautifully told and will give you all the feels.
