My boss is a jerk. All day long he works me hard and then keeps me late, as if my life revolves around pleasing him. One night, in a moment of sheer exasperation, I explode in anger, and we end up yelling at each other. One minute we’re arguing, the next we’re kissing, and then we do much more.
He says we should get our attraction out of our system, and I agree. He’s irresistible to me. I can’t seem to stop, and that’s not my only problem.
Sonia Bolden excels in creating cute and fiery stories with some element of cheating in the storyline. In her most recent book from the Cheating Hearts series, After Hours, we get Rachel’s story. Rachel is connected to the previous stories as she is friends with Luna and Belinda. Rachel has a great job working for a not-so-great boss. Clint is demanding, commanding and often has her stay extremely late at work. These long work hours are just another issue that affects her relationship with her unemployed boyfriend. Clint hates the fact that Rachel goes home to someone else and tries to keep her at the office as much as possible. One night, Rachel refuses to work late and all their pent-up emotions explode. The outcome is incendiary, and they move into the realm of cheating. Will their actions be a one-time occurrence, or have they gone too far to turn back? Rachel continued in her relationship with her boyfriend mostly out of poor self-esteem and even suspects her boyfriend of cheating on her. The situation soon becomes very complicated and messy. But as their relationship grew, Clint was supportive in his own fashion and allowed her to feel safe and valued. https://theretiredreader.com/f/after-...
I don’t approve of cheating however this was an interesting storyline where the female character, Rachel, was not only cheating (with her boss, Clint) but was also being cheated on and accepted it because she had self esteem issues.
The ending was a bit rushed. This appears to be the theme in this author’s books however as her books are interconnected, so far, you’re able to follow up on the couples from other books. I’m hoping the same will apply with this couple - Clint and Rachel as I believe there’s a Sebastian (Clint’s brother) book coming.
I loved this book. Racheal is like every woman staying with the boyfriend they think is going to change. Then there is Clint the hot boss who like his admin assistant. Racheal realizes something is going on with Timothy and the landlady but don't want to believe until the day she knows things have to end. love it 5 Stars
Just as great as the first two, love how they friends were in each series gave you a glimpse that each one was doing all right. But this was a sexual story, was surprised that it seems like Sebastian may be getting a story, I hope. But I love that Clint stood up to Rachel‘s ex, he deserved it, truthfully, he deserved a beat down.
I have read all three in the series, I loved the characters, the honesty and self reflection the women had on looking at their lives and saying NO I want more for myself. A good easy read.
