A fantastic new magical dino-tastic adventure series from children's TV superstar Andy Day, paired with illustration powerhouse Steven Lenton!
What if YOUR dad could change into a dinosaur?
Hi, I'm Ruby! And I've got a big secret . . . everyone thinks my dad is an amazing dinosaur expert at our local museum. And he totally is! But he's also . . . a POOPA! And so am I!
What's a POOPA? Well, it means he's a Protector Of Our Prehistoric Allies. When me and Dad touch his special, magic ammonite shell, we travel to an incredible island, full of dinosaurs who live just like us humans do. And when we go there, we turn into dinosaurs too!
We have so many amazing adventures . . . and I can't wait for you to join us!
A hilarious and brilliantly illustrated easy-to-read story peppered with real dino facts - perfect for any young dinosaur-lover!
Make sure you read Ruby's second dino-tastic adventure - Dino Ice Age - and look out for the next book, Dino Big School Talent Show, out in February 2025.
Here's what real readers are saying about Dino Dad!
“My son loves both dinosaurs and Andy, so this book was an absolute hit with him”
“A great way to help children transition into chapter books with beloved TV star Andy”
“The story is fun and engaging, with just the right amount of humour to keep them giggling”
“Great book for kids aged 5-8 years old. The artwork is great, the story is fun and there’s also a learning element to it”
“A delightful and engaging story that’s perfect for young Andy Day or dinosaur fans”
The first chapter book with my 6 year old son, who is dino mad and adores Andy! We loved this, it was so funny and was full of dinosaur names (most of which my son recognised!) and facts. We got this on loan from our local library and I have purchased the series in paperback as we enjoyed it so much. Thanks Andy, keep them coming please!
I bought this book to read to my 5 year old son, who is a massive fan of the many, many shows Andy does on the BBC. He really enjoyed the story, and the illustrations . So I’ll definitely be looking out for the next book
Pleasant nonsense, as a girl loses her sister in a game of hide and seek, but gains knowledge that the family have a secret magic way to go to a place of dinosaurs – where, for some slightly dubious reason, they become walking, talking, not-eating-each-other dinosaurs themselves. This first book is clearly troubled with setting the whole franchise up, as opposed to giving us a full-length story, but the fact the younger sister still needs to be caught does drive the narrative along and proves the very young age this is aimed at. It's full of brio and U-certificate drama, and I suppose the slapstick and bum-wiggling, head-bashing silliness would appeal, too. A very generous four stars.
