Horror author C. Dennis Moore returns to his dark fantasy Aftermath series. In “Glutton”, Stacy woke up one morning to find her husband and son gone. When she went in search of them, she discovered everyone in her neighborhood was missing as well.
Now in the follow-up, “War”, Stacy and company have discovered what happened and they’re coming to terms with the results, both what it means for the world and what it means for them personally. As they set off the next day in search of more survivors, though, Stacy is suddenly plagued by visions of another world where there’s a constant battle raging on and on. Can Stacy reconcile these visions with what happened to her family and friends? In one vision, she sees her husband, passed out and unresponsive. Then, just as quickly, he’s gone again, replaced by a scared woman with a gun, and it’s pointed right at Stacy.
“War” is 5100 words of angst and heartbreak, coupled with huge doses of fear as Stacy wonders what the visions mean as she navigates this terrifying new world of uncertainty. As she’s coming to learn, the only thing she can really count on is herself. But is she strong enough to handle that task?

To date I'd only read Moore's Invasion Agents serial, then I found this. I have to admit this serial has me hooked. Well written & thought-provoking. I look forward to the next episode and can't wait to read it.
