“You defined happiness for me, Adelaide. You gave me a reason to live and to survive through this war because on the other side of this storm was the sun—was you . Without you, I have lost all purpose in my life.”

I’ll admit the first 120 pages were hard to get through

I didn’t like Christian at times but he slowly grew on me and their budding romance was so sweet in the end

This was such an emotional book

“For the rest of my life, I will continue begging for you on my knees, if that’s what it takes to have you.”

Also, the smut was so perfect 😭

“What are you doing here?” Cold and lifeless, Christian stood in front of me like he had no care in the world.
“We’re married,” is what I came up with.
In the corner, near one of the largest overlooking windows was his kitchen. “What does that have to do with you being here?” He walked over to the island and poured himself a glass of water.
It’s like he forgot all about yesterday.
Glass met marble and the sound bounced off each corner of his penthouse.
“Go back to the hospital, Adelaide.”
Why’s he being mean?
“Not without knowing the truth,” I walked out of the living space to stand a couple of feet away from him.
He stiffened, “What truth?”
Cool. He wanted to play it the hard way.
I wouldn’t take it. Not today.
No more beating around the bush.
“Why’d you run for me?”
He shut his eyes.
“Why’d I wake up in the middle of the night to your sobs?”
Nostrils flared and fingers tightened around the marble top.
Desperation ripped out of me. “Why don’t you let me in—”
“Why don’t you take care of yourself?” He strutted towards me. Eyes glazed with rage. “Why didn’t you tell me about your fucking health issues?”
Face to face, chest to chest, heart to heart.
Nevertheless, we couldn’t be further apart.
“Why do I always have to be the one solving your problems?”
He hurled the question with so much venom it repulsed me.
Did I imagine his softness? His care?
Hushed and inaudible. I asked, “My health is a problem for you?”
“You are a problem for me.” His muscles tensed as he turned his back to me.
Anger untied itself from the tips of my hair and dragged me down to the pits of hell where I couldn’t care less about love and its crappy feelings. There was only so much I could take before I’d hurt again.
This was stupid—I was an idiot for coming here.
Christian didn’t care about me.
Here I was, planning to plant my feelings at his feet and expecting him to water them.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Did me fainting ruin your damn reputation?”
The glare did nothing but make him snap.
“You ruined the whole fucking plan with your stunt.”
“Stunt?” My legs moved on their own accord to stand in front of him. “You think I wanted to faint and embarrass myself in front of all those people?”
“No, I think you wanted to embarrass me in front of them.” He folded an arm over his chest.
I didn’t recognise the man in front of me.
The one who glanced out through the window and barely met my gaze.
The one whose eyes hid all the secrets I wanted the key too.
“Why would I do that?”
He shrugged. “As payback for that morning.”
“I’m not some petty girl who’ll take revenge because of something you said.”
“Congrats, want me to plan a fucking celebration?”
“What’s wrong with you? You were fine yesterday, we got married, you smiled, we smiled at each other. Now you’re being a…”
A mocking smirk. “A dick. Say it, sweet Adelaide.”
“Stop it,” I hissed.
“Stop what?”
“Being like this. You’re acting different.”
“Because of you and your little act.”
It was like a slap to my face. He couldn’t mean it. There was nothing in it for me to pretend. If I wanted to, I would’ve done it the moment I started walking down that aisle.
We were husband and wife, married, and together.
Blaming me entirely for the pain I never sought—the pain that began with the heartbreak he caused—was utterly selfish.
“It wasn’t an act.” The tear fell down my cheek before it allowed me to wipe it away. “Do you know what that felt like for me? I was in pain, Christian. In severe, blood-curling pain. I held it in, so I didn’t humiliate the both of us.”
“I doubt it even hurt as bad as you made it seem.”
My insides felt like they were biting at each other when it happened. I tried to stay upright, I tried to talk to Harry and flirt with him. My body was at war with itself, stress and anxiety fought each other, and it exploded in an enigmatic fire with me right in the middle.
“Excuse me?”
“It’s the truth, isn’t it? PCOA or whatever the fuck it’s called—the doctor’s said it’s never anything serious. You were acting to get out of your fucking panic attacks.” He dismissed my pain with a menacing wave. “Even if it hurts, it’s on you for not taking care of yourself.”
“There was a cyst in my ovaries that ruptured, and you think I was faking the pain.”
“Can’t be too bad if you’re here right now.”

“I’m not blaming you,” she continued. “My anxiety stemmed from many situations, but the breakup was the main one. It sucks. It really sucks because the only time my brain shuts up is when I’m with you. So please, stop. Can’t we just go back to having a good time?”
My heart did a fucking skip and wanted to forget about this. About whatever lividity or thoughts were lurking and attaching themselves to my existence.
Instead, being the horrible bastard I was, all that came out of my fucking month was, “I’ll think about it if you get down on your knees and beg.”

Luego de eso él le dice que así es como demuestra su amor:

“That’s how my love is!” His aggression whipped me around. If I thought his gaze held devastation, I was wrong. His body tensed and invalidated against him, working to break him, to create a disaster not him nor I could recover from.

Y esta es la respuesta de ella:

I couldn’t do it.
All this composure.
All this waiting and overthinking.
I just couldn’t do it anymore.
What was the point of holding in this much vexation when all I wanted was for us to go home together?
Thunder echoed into the sky, still without the barrier of clouds.
Chests pranced, blissfully following the specific tune of people like me who couldn’t give in.
Christian wasn’t good at showing his love. He hid it beneath his empty stares, his vicious banter, his useful hands. But I should have known that each action was a proclamation of love.
I wasn’t mad at him for loving me.
I was mad at myself for noticing too late.
He wasn’t making a fool out of me.
I was making a fool out of myself, and it hurt.
It hurts because I would love him until my last breath screamed to live in order to love him more.
He was the air I breathed, the circumference of the earth that equaled to infinity. I wanted him like I wanted nothing else.
I could lose everything in the next second but if I lost him, I’d die.
Sobs broke through my thoughts, falling at his very feet. “I love you, Christian.”

I swear, this book had me questioning everything when it said she was so beautiful, even a dead man's D would wake up. Like, what?! The dialogue was so cringe, I had secondhand embarrassment flipping each page. I got fooled by the pretty cover, but the writing and story? Not so much.

Thank you to Izza Malik for the ARC copy of her book! I really enjoyed it! Below is my review! Minor Spoliers!!!

Nothing Without You is such a fantastic book that covers many favorite book tropes. You will fall in love with the characters, the story, the twists, and the representation within it. When reading this book, Adelaide was a character that I could relate to on so many levels. She shyness, her struggle with anxiety and confidence and the fear of never being heard when you speak. Christian, boy, where can I get one? I love the way he worked so hard to fight for his love for her as well as finding the tight path to love her.

I did feel like some parts of the story were a little confusing because I was unsure of the timeline. I also felt like some parts were overlooked and rushed. But I really did enjoy the trip that this book took me on. I didn't want to get off!

I look forward to reading more from Izza!

Dual POV

I am forever grateful for receiving this arc from this author, this read was my most anticipated of the year. Once I saw this book, I instantly knew I would fall in love with this book. Let me tell you it did not disappoint at all!! I loved every single page and second of this book. It gave all the chemistry you needed from a second chance point of view.

Adelaide Mikael was precious, Ambitious, and beautiful. I loved seeing her character play out throughout this story. She was feisty and would put off a good little rumble with Christian( the banter and fighting were everything!) Adelaide was caring and soft-hearted to those around her, especially little Yunus! The hunger to have her man in her arms literally showed in so many moments of this story. Adelaide showed so much care and compassion towards Christian, to let him know how much he meant to her ( this did not go unnoticed girl!!)

Christian Hayes is charming, brave, and a softie at heart for his girl. THIS MAN was just perfect omg. The way he did anything for Adelaide was literally everything to see and watch from him. The past that haunts him for letting his sunshine go shows so much throughout the story. He is willing to break necks and arms to protect and love Adelaide. I couldn't get enough of that hehe! I loved Christian's character build-up, opening up his old womb and letting her back into his heart, where she belonged.

READ THIS BOOK ASAP!! the amount of laughter, tears, and screams that were shared while reading this book is unexplainable. I literally can not put into words how much this book changed my life and soul. This book not only has a CHOKEHOLD on me but I'm barely breathing at this point. This book will go down as my number one, and this is saying a lot because I have so many favorites lol. Do not skip out on this read you will not only be jumping out of your seat but your heart will be filled with overwhelmed joy of the spirit this book can do to you.

I really appreciate Ms. Malik for sharing and allowing me to read and get excited about this romance release. This book will always have a special place in my heart. THESE TWO CHARACTERS will always be on my mind, and definitely want more of these two!!!

Topics throughout the book are:
🧡 marriage of convenience
✨ forced proximity
🧡 Dual POV and Dual Timeline
✨ first love
🧡 second chance
✨ mental health

Summary🧡✨:
“The beautiful day turned into an ugly one and in the middle of it all was a moronic woman, who thought loving someone would be enough to make her happy.” Adelaide Mikael recently became CEO of Starlight, a family owned company, however, with the worst scandal out in  public, her morals being questioned, and the board members who believe she would fail, Adelaide has no choice but to step down from her title temporarily to help maintain the integrity of the company. Unexpected help from her ex-boyfriend Christian Hayes, who was her first love, is one way to keep the gossip from spreading, while not knowing that his main goal is to get revenge by destroying the company. What could possibly go wrong? Read to find out.

Izza is a young writer, book enthusiast who wrote this debut novel about marriage of convenience but there was also a mystery side to it, like almost an investigation in the past which kept you intrigued enough to find out what would happen! What I loved most about this book is how she portrays the mental health side and someone who suffers with anxiety,I was able to understand and connect with Adelaide. If you are looking for a marriage of convenience book with a side of mystery, then this book is for you.

Many thanks to Izza for providing me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you Izza Malik and Book Funnel for giving me an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review!

Nothing Without You follows our main protagonist Adelaide as she is transitioning into her role as CEO of her late parent’s company. Shortly after becoming CEO she gets accused of being apart of a sexual assault scandal involving her company, and the only way to save her reputation is to marry another partnering CEO, Christian Hayes

The only issue is Christian and Adelaide were each other’s first love, and they haven’t spoken in seven years.

First off I loved Izzy’s writing as it was poetic but engaging. I loved the subplot of the scandal during the book and it was an unexpected element. The best way to describe Christian and Adelaide’s love is passionate, but they don’t know how to allow themselves to be happy without hurting each other.

I think while I did enjoy my experience reading this book and am very glad I read it, my main complaint would be the constant miscommunication and complete change of character in how they spoke to each other when they were angry, and pushing vital information until the end.

Christian is the definition of boy obsessed, so if you love that trope along with marriage of convenience, childhood friends to lovers and second chance I think you would really enjoy this book!

Adelaide also has anxiety and PCOS which I loved seeing how it affected her.

Content Warnings: Graphic Emotional Abuse, Anxiety Attacks, Blood, Medical Content, Mention of Parent Death, Sexual Assault and minor depiction of rape. Infidelity, Gaslighting

~ Arc reader ~

First off, I would like to say thank you Izza for giving me the opportunity to reading your book. I am so happy I did because this book will have a special place in my heart ❤️. Also, thank you Izza for letting me spam you on dm about my opinions and emotions on some scenes in the book 😅.

Christian and Adelaide are such a cute couple especially Christian himself (this boy has rizz 🙈). They have a rocky start in their relationship but I am so happy they got to receive a happy ending.

Christian is just undeniably beautiful and amazing and has set the standards high oh my. Does anyone know where I can find him? Or where I can buy him? 😭🙈.

I love the other characters in this book such as Umaima (Addie’s best friend), Hasan (Umaima’s brother), Yunus (Hasan’s son) and Osman (Christian’s friend and the funny one in the group). Their friendship is something to cherish, they are so cute and love them so much.

It is nice to read about South Asian representation in books as we do not get much recognition in them. Also, one thing that caught my eye in this book is how we get to imagine the MMC as Rowoon (may have seen him in ‘Extraordinary You’ and ‘Destined with You’). Love, love, love the kdrama representation in the book as well ahh I love everything about it haha.

Things to consider when reading:
* Mentions of sexual assault (not between the main leads)
* Mentions of PCOS

This book comes out on August 2nd so go preorder it now, trust me it is so worth it 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽.

[ARC REVIEW] Firstly, thank you to the author for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC. It was absolutely amazing; I was hooked immediately, and I have so many highlights, but I don’t want to spoil anything. Anyways, I love a good second chance, marriage of convenience trope, and this one was perfect. The slow burn had me on the edge of my seat, thinking, “Whennnnnn are they gonna confess?” The plot with Starlight and Christian’s revenge was so well done; I was captivated the whole time, wondering what would happen next and how everything would conclude. The plot twists were crazy.
Adelaide is such a queen. Without going into spoilers, she has been through and is dealing with so much, but she’s still fighting. She’s brave, she’s beautiful, she’s smart, Christian better treat her right. Speaking of him, he was so infuriating at times that I wanted to throw something at him, but then he would say some cheesy one-liner or think about how much he loves her, and it would make me melt. Then I’d go back to thinking, “Okay, so when is it my turn?” He’s so obsessed with her, and attentive, and thoughtful, and I LOVE it. I was reminded again about why I think men need to read romance novels.
The side characters Umaima, Hassan, Osama, and baby Yunus were so funny; I loved their banter, and this story would’ve been so incomplete without them. Also, can I please be besties with Adelaide and Umaima, pleaseeee?
In conclusion: Read the book; it’s a 5/5.

Can I start off by saying I am completely obsessed with the cover, it is too cute!

What I appreciated about this book was that the past was talked about early on during present time. How they still thought of each other and what not just because sometimes it takes forever for us to figure out what happened between the love interest.

The book did jump right on in and it took me about two to three chapters to figure out what was going on. There were a bunch of side characters who were introduced early on and it did take me some time to remember who was who too.

The pace of the book was fast but their love story was slow. I mostly felt the hurt Adelaide went through but I’m not going to lie and say I didn’t feel their love because I did. I just hated Christian’s path to revenge and the hurtful things he’d say and do. It was hard because his internal thoughts said one thing but sometimes his actions and words said another. But like I said, I believed in their love.

Maybe because I’m not rich lol but I was appalled at the fact that someone would spend millions of dollars on a dress and ring.

It’s super minor but I know the author is Canadian and the story was based out of New York. I think I would have preferred it if the temperature degrees were in Fahrenheit instead of Celsius when they talked about the weather.

Thank you Izza for providing me with this arc for my honest review. I can’t wait to read what you write next.

Firstly, thank you so much for sending me this ARC and gifting me the pleasure of reading such a masterpiece.🥰🥰🥰

My actual rating is 4.5 stars but there is no half star!

Anyway I devoured this book like there was no return because OH MY… like Christian was giving ideal man with miscommunication issues but I was here for it all. Don’t even forget about our side characters and their banter as well! The writing style, the storyline, the characters, the banter.. everything was so good! I was captured by this book from the start. In some parts I was laughing so hard and then in some parts I was shedding tears.

For me the writing style of books matters a lot because that’s what determines if I’m in the mood for the book but damn was the writing so flowy that I was in to it since the first chapter.

If your wondering why I cut and half mark off was because the miscommunication was getting to me at some point of the book. Like.. my boy was like the ocean all wishy washy. He could have told her everything from the start and she would have probs even agreed to help but then again I understand that he might have thought she might not believe him or even try to stop him. So that’s pretty understandable.

Overall : 100% recommend!!! 🫶🫶🫶

Christian and Adeliade they date when they were younger in their Teens years sadly after Christian’s mom passed away and he found out a dark secret and true he made it his goal to get revenge but all that came with hurting the love of his life Adeliade. Like Adeliade says in the book “Christian you are giving me whiplash” this happened to me yes there are part where you want to tell Christian TELL HER ALREADY but it what made the book soo good because you didn’t know what he would do next. There is a lot of groveling from Christian part and Adeliade i relate so much to especially as someone who has PCOS and does take Birth control to help with my irregular period luckily it has helped but I did go through that part where there were months you went by with out a period. Also well with the panic attacks those are the worst and the overthinking I never felt soo seen by a character in a book.

[arc review]

i feel like i have emotional whiplash. yk know who else gave me emotional whiplash? hardin and tessa. adelaide and christian felt like hardin and tessa to me because of how on and off they are. there were definitely points where i was screaming at them to make up their damn minds.

other than the emotional whiplash, this book is hard to put down. it’s been a minute since i’ve felt that way about a book. i got a little confused with who’s who in the beginning since this book does have a larger cast than i’m used to but they each had a key role in the book and it got easier for me to remember.

both christian and adelaide still have a lot of growing and healing to do and THATS OKAY! i love when authors write imperfect relationships because not everything can always be rainbows and unicorns. i really do hope they rebuild their trust in each other and love becomes a little less scary for them. they’ve both been through so much, they deserve the world.

AND THIS BOOK TAKES PLACE IN DUMBO. as a new yorker, i liked that. dumbo is a bit of a tourist attraction but nothing beats the view there.

Really cute cover and a pretty decent plot/plot twist. I rated this at a 2.25 for a number of reasons. Editing was desperately needed and it felt like the author just used the thesaurus function on Word for at least two words in every paragraph for the first 30% of the book. There was quite a bit of info/character dumping in the beginning and readers had to connect the dots on their own (i.e., Christian's mom's name wasn't mentioned in the early chapters and then bam, a name was said in one of Adelaide's POVs without stating who she was and I thought she was a new character until the name was mentioned with Christian's name). Also, I still haven't got a clue what kind of companies both MCs run; it was never explained and the names aren't self-explanatory (I can only tell that Christian's company has a restaurant involved, unsure if it's a chain or just a smaller venture for a larger company).

[ARC Review] This book is amazing. The romance, the plot, the characters. Everything comes full circle. I love Christian and Adelaide’s story and how much they overcome. I love the love Christian has for Adelaide. Makes me wanna get married lol. The side characters have so much humor too. It’s so funny with some scenes that I lived for it. The plot twists had me up at night just ready to continue reading. THERES SO MUCH THAT HAPPENS. I don’t think you can even imagine what’s gonna happen next. Every detail is well thought out. I loved the writing too because I usually skim read books but with this book, I was reading every single line with how captivating it was. The development of the characters is evident and u love it for them. If you love romance, funny remarks, revenge, plot twists, and amazing fmc and mmc, I definitely recommend this book because it was GIVING.

( ARC REVIEW ) i love the representation within this book—in terms of cultures, languages, and religion. i also appreciate the representation for pcos because i rarely see it in books. i loved our girl umaima bc she is THE definition of a girl’s girl. the plot twist was one that i did not rly see coming so make sure to take note of the listed trigger warnings. i went between liking and disliking christian quite often bc his intentions were blurred esp in the beginning and i do wish we got to see more of the early stages of christian & adelaide’s relationship like from when they were younger :’) but i did like seeing how their romance re-blossomed it made me feel so single 🥲 ALSO WHEN THE COVER FINALLY CLICKED IT WAS SUCH A SURREAL MOMENT I LOVED IT 🥹

finally, thank you to Izza Malik and BookFunnel for the ARC in exchange for an honest review ! <33

Thanks to author for sending me an ARC. This book felt like watching a Kdrama with Male character inspired by "Jang Shin Yu" from "Destined with You" ( I am obsessed with Rowon🔥).
Story was fast paced, character development was fine although it felt at some point story lacked some perspective especially in revenge part. Overall the main characters were amazing and their chemistry was topping on the charts. Adelaide was a realistic character, a girl going through alot and facing and fighting situations along with dealing with her health and personal life, this represents many women all over the world and Christian you need to stop using "F" word and better treat our girl better because she deserves whole world 💜💜. JK!!!! I know he loves adelaide and I also love him ❤ ❤.

Thank you so much, Izza Malik, for the opportunity to read the ARC!

I will say that for a bit it was super hard to like Christian, but after a while you learn that Adelaide is truly his whole heart. Behind all of his walls, you see that if there’s one person he has a soft spot for, it’s her, even when at times it feels as if he is against her.

I ate up every scene with Adelaide and Christian—THE TENSION!!! Izza has written a romance masterpiece with this one.

And the side characters—I absolutely loved them. I really hope we get to see more of Osama, Hasan and Umaima in the future!

4.5⭐️

Goodies:

“My wife”

[ARC Review]

I want to preface this by saying thank you so much Izza Malik for providing me with an ARC! I was so excited to find this book on TikTok and the small snippets interested me immediately! So getting an ARC really saved me, I don't have any patience!

As for the review, the suspenseful plot kept me up and I just had to figure out what was going on, I kept flipping the pages trying to figure out what was going on alongside Adelaide! so excited for everyone to read.

I also really liked the fun relationship between Osama, Hasan and Umaima! The dynamics were so fun to read. I want to talk about specifics but I don't want to spoil😭

Happy readings everyone! :)

Thank you Izza Malik for the ARC opportunity!

The storyline was very intriguing and was unlike anything I've read before, which was very refreshing :) It had me flipping the pages, however I really didn't like the constant miscommunication between the MCs. There were sudden and jarring shifts in how they interacted, and they felt very hot-and-cold. It was frustrating and made it difficult for me to connect with their relationship. Furthermore, their relationship felt very insta-lovey. I would have loved a more gradual build-up, which could have made the romantic aspects more compelling and realistic.

⭐️4/5
🌶️- 3/5

I had the pleasure of reading “Nothing without you” prior to its release and this was such a lovely read.

I am a sucker for a slow burn, second chance romance and this book did not disappoint. I loved the characters and their stories, and I absolutely loved the banter, tension and spice between the MMC and MFC. The use of the F bomb was a little much and I was really happy with how the story ended.

I do love a good plot and this plot was really well thought out with spice sprinkled throughout. Overall I really enjoyed this book and her next book releases next year!

This book is yet to be released but I'm already very excited for this one!
You must be wondering why. So lemme give you the reasons bestie: Second chance romance? Marriage of convenience? One bed? Forced proximity? Childhood friends to lovers? And dual POVs? Ahhhhhhhhhhh, this book has all of my favourite tropes in one. All of them in one, so tell me how could I not be excited to get my hand on this book😭❤️‍🔥

I loved how the marriage of convenience trope was portrayed. The unexpected plot twists and the humorous dialogues keep the story exciting, and the flashback scenes of Adelaide and Christian are just perfect.🤌 This book is a must-read for anyone who loves romantic comedies, offering a delightful and satisfying experience.

Adelaide's character gets a bit too much like why is she dictating what love is supposed to be like? Christian can only love her the way he knows how. People love differently based on what they are used to, what they know, what feels right to them. It doesn't mean they didn't love at full capacity. Adelaide, most of the time, keep wasting time.

I just want to start by saying that the cover is so beautiful. The colors are so nice and all meshed up together. We can’t forget the bomb playlist! All the songs were so good!

I’m not Muslim but I’m Arab so I appreciated the references and the Arab culture and names. It was nice to read something with a somewhat similar background

The book had my full attention from the very start. I wasn’t able to stop reading it. I finished this book early on. Very gripping. You can easily finish it one day!

This second chance romance was so riveting. I’m not a huge second chance romance girly, but this book definitely made up for it. The characters were very well acquainted. This book was the literal definition of “to be known is to be loved”

There was a bit of backstabbing and betrayals going on but it was all for a cause. I’m not excusing it but I understand the reasons behind the faithlessness

Adelaide (beautiful name btw) is such a powerful empowered woman. She’s feisty yet soft hearted. She’s ambitious and she knows exactly what she wants which was really nice to follow her journey. I really enjoyed books with commanding and influential women

Christian was so swoony. He’s also very potent. He’s the formidable opponent. He has such a harsh and hard exterior but actually he’s so in love and smitten about Adelaide. Just the way he looks at her and the way he talks about her and the way he can’t stand anyone else but himself being by her side was captivating to read

I really liked the friendships in this book. Especially Christian and Osama’s friendship. They’re a hilarious duo. They get each other and they have one of these really cute bromances. Even the respect projected between Osama and Adelaide was delightful

There’s just something about Izza Malik’s writing that’s so delicate yet entertaining. Soft yet fire. I was literally laughing and on my toes and giggling the whole time. I really liked how she phrased things and how she got her thoughts across

Really good book, highly recommended!!🧡

(ARC REVIEW)

The tension between Adelaide and Christian is amazing. I’m normally not one that likes a marriage of convenience trope but Izza made the plot work so well and I could not stop reading this book. The book was very unique to me and had my emotions mixed from being giddy to shedding a couple of tears.

They cannot wait for more people to read this book!
