Maeve is dumber now than she was at the first book, when she didn't know anything about the supernatural world. I don't understand how this could be possible. I'm still reading this series because I really really like Andrei and Tobias, they are the best written characters in the story.
The author broke her cliffhanger run. Unfortunately this book just didn't have such a great ending. It was still interesting though to find out exactly who Maive is. It was nice to get some chapters from Tobias' point of view. The Blackwood family is definitely crazy, and showed us a different side of magic. And finally we found Amelia. It was a good story. I'm looking forward to the final book.
2020 52 Book Challenge - 46) By An Author Used In An Earlier Category
I feel quite conflicted about this book, because yes it did move the plot forward quite a bit, but the pace was not fantastic. It felt like everything was happening for the first half, and then Maeve was rescued and it all slowed down again for 3/4 of the second half of the book up to the end, where for once, this series does not end on a cliffhanger.
Character wise, I don't think that Maeve was a great character in this book. How is it that this is book 5 and she seems to know less about the world now than she did at the beginning of book 1? We're told constantly that she's a really powerful witch, so powerful that everybody in the world wants to control her for her power - yet she can't do basic witch things and she has to be walked through nearly everything she does.
The other characters are shown well, especially Andrei and Tobias. I did particularly like seeing more development for Tobias.
Also, Amelia finally reappeared to basically get written out of the series.
This is a clean reverse harem story. WTF! That is like saying carob is just as good as chocolate, if not better. Nope! It definitely is not!
The plot is weak at best, confusing most of the time, and haphazard all the time.
The MC is supposed to be this strong uber powerful game changing witch. I wish she was. I would like to read about that character. What she is, is a confused, whiny, dim-witted, fearful, weak person.
For example, the MC needs rescuing (like always), so the hand-holding mates decide to rescue her. They find something to help and just go. Don’t bother packing anything that’ll help or preparing in any way. They meet up with a group that says hey we’ll help in a potentially dangerous rescue mission and everyone is like great. First off, why would random people help? Why would they just be, great we’ll totally accept your help. In fact why don’t you a group of strangers take over and heck why not do the rescue mission 30 minutes after meeting us. I mean it’s close to dawn and the vampire will die from the sun soon. No biggie.
I think by book 5 the hottest action has been 1st base says so much. I’m out! What is the point in reading this series. There is no though out plot, storyline and no sex. I’m just pissed I didn’t stop after book 1.

I loved it! It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This series is a slow-burn sweet why choose romance. Perfect for lovers of books with a strong magical heroine who grows into her powers, swoon-worthy guys who love and protect her, and a supernatural world filled with magic, romance, and mystery. Welcome to Nightworld Academy (Ravenwood Academy to the outside world). At this academy, that is attended by witches, shifters, and vampires, one student's bloodline will be their salvation or a curse. One night with the Blackwood witches changes everything. The Blackwood family and their magic have edged our lives since Jamie discovered the pendant and now they've found Mauve, and she’s in more danger than ever. Trapped with Tobias inside the Blackwood estate, she’s subjected to the family's chilling magic and she meets their disturbing associates. Andrei, Jamie and Ash take a dangerous risk in their attempt to rescue her from an unknown fate and only succeed with the help from an unexpected source. Are there others they can rely on to help beat the threat against them or do these people have a different agenda? She struggles to cope with the after-effects of events at the Blackwoods, and her reality and visions start to blur. What is it that she hears inside the academy and why is it that nobody else can? Is this connected to Jamie's discovery about the building's history? She’s closer to Ash after last term's difficulties, and Jamie opens up more. Her romance with Andrei becomes more intense, and her relationship with Tobias reaches a whole new level of "it's complicated." One things for sure, whoever tried to break them up hasn't succeeded, because the five of them are closer than ever. The guys are determined to protect her and will do whatever they need to help strengthen her magic. They’ll need that strength and unity because they're facing something bigger than a war between Confederacy and Dominion forces. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I highly recommend to everyone.
3.5 ✨ ⚠️ SPOILER ALERT ⚠️ ✅PRO: WOW! This book made me go through a thousand states. The plot intensifies, nonstop action and unexpected twists. I love how we get more into Tobias' personality and how his relationship with Maeve seems so intense and amazing, beautifully outlined. I really like Andrei's evolution, although I wish we could have learned more about each character's personality. I really like this author because she knows how to create questionable characters or the bad guys.
❌CON: the way of writing and expression that has not improved, and this volume also had a lot of grammatical errors. Something that annoys me the most in books is when the author does not keep track of her own details in the book (ex: in the Prequel Maeve hit Tyler to save Danny, but in another volume she says she hit Danny, at first she says the academy lasts 4 years, then changes that the program only lasts two years, then four again, or even the actions of the characters who are now sitting on the chair and in the second volume they are suddenly by the window, etc.). The relationship between all the characters is also strange to me, especially the 4 of them with her, but for those who are fans of this kind of thing... go for it.
Something I noticed a lot of people complain about, Maeve in this book was much more clueless about her new world and helpless than she was at the beginning of the series. At first she was much more headstrong and independent, but in this book I felt like she couldn't cope at all without someone helping her or doing something for her.
Story becoming somewhat convoluted. I assume its to create spin-offs for connected series. That said, the harem feels forced and it’s asif each book is in an effort to gain insight to each of them (so we like them more and have an interest), but instead it’s alienating others. The story right now is just too far-fetched. And for such a powerful witch she doesn’t seem to be doing much. Its all about feelings and thinking and not enough moving the plot along. The intrigues of side-characters (Sophie/ Yvette/ Katherine/ Theodora/ Clive/ Remi) are just fillers. Towards end of the book suddenly she could do a witch light. Are you for real? Where did she learn that? In spell class? Never said anything of the sort! Things are a little just too convenient (team of witches helping out) and the whole curse on Tobias (boring!); we are slowly losing the whole plot here as the reader gets dragged along with no sense of where this is really going. I am reconsidering reading book 6 and I see there’s a book 7 coming also - this feels forced with no ending in sight or anything to make proper sense - it’s just a false sense of conclusion and keeping the reader in constant anticipation of the pieces falling into place. Also, for an academy series this feels more like high-school with the bullying and pranks and other interactions. MC has become whiny and I can hardly stand her. Right now I don’t know if I want to continue
WARNING! Cliffhanger! It’s about a 3/5 on my trauma scale, more book-hook than anything else.
NOTE: Amelia and Matt’s story intertwines with Maeve’s here- and there are a couple of spoilers if you haven’t read it (very minor). Their book (Blackwood Magic), therefore, sits just before this story chronologically, in case you wondered.
Maeve and Tobias find themselves at the mercy of the Blackwood witches, but fortunately for them, Ash, Jamie and Andrei taking a dangerous risk helps to set them free. Nothing is the same though, as Maeve struggles to come to terms with what she experienced there, and the visions she has been having since then.
Another longer story, this covers a lot of ground, and ends with some big revelations. Maeve is getting closer to her mates, but there are complications, in addition to numerous traumatic events going on. It makes for an engaging, if a little exhausting read, filled with events that keep you guessing. As with the books that come before it (yes you have to read them, no you can’t skip any) it’s an enjoyable story, filled with action, adventures and magic; and I’d recommend it for the RH fantasy enthusiasts out there.
Intense, Scary, Twisted & Creepy!!😲🙈😱👀😵 (Read using Kindle Unlimited) Nightworld Academy: Term Five
Well this was the book I've been waiting for from this series.😍 It finally started to show us the road map connecting the 4 guys & Maeve. We also, at long last, got introduced to the 'big bad's' we've heard so much about!!😲🙈 They are dark & evil beings, not pleasant at all!😱😭
Maeve, I think, is in love with all four men & has fully connected with 2 now and emotionally is as connected with the others.🔥💘🔥 I'm not sure if, even if they all live through this, the relationships can survive some of the hurdles they face ahead!!💔😭
This is creepy & scary in parts, Sweet & romantic, frantic & nerve wracking in others!😲 I really enjoyed it. I'm unsure how book #6 can wrap up this entire series fully & in a satisfactory manor, I just have to have faith that the Author has it in hand. 👍🙏😇
This series just keeps getting better and better - definately one of the best Academy storey lines around, Brilliantly written as a series and when you think teh last book was so good and cant be topped Lisa comes out and slaps you with this - Bigger and better than before building to hopefully a wonderful climax in the next book. Tobias oh Tobias be still my beating heart - if you thought things were intense with Andrei this takes it up another notch - Just brilliant! Plus i love that Maeve gets time with each of her men in this book - sizzle level increases in this book which is definateley a plus point as i think we have all been wanting things to heat up a bit. Love this storey and cant rave enough about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just Brilliant.
The Blackwoods have Maeve and Tobias. But is the professor with his students or his old associates? Is he an ally or enemy? And can the others find a way to rescue Maeve before the Blackwoods can bring out a darkness in Maeve's magic?
Twists and turns, one step forward, one back, three sideways. Simply put, Maeve's life is complicated. Tobias, Ash, Jamie, and Andrei capture more of my heart each term but Tobias, sigh. This man. The risk. Makes him even more desirable. So much happened, so many revelations, so many more secrets and questions remain. Everything is just "more". More relationship development, more sexy times. The suspense increases, the tension escalates, the intensity skyrockets. Then came that ending. Wow! What now??
The series is kinda long for the amount of information we truly don’t know.
There are so many angles to the story, to these visions. Things happen but we barely ever use Maeve’s future sight abilities. Honestly it’s kinda weird. She went from having to prevent visions and stave them off to not having them, not attempting to use them and doing nothing to strengthen them. This is what annoyed me in the book. A lot of bad crap happens and rather than use the abilities open to her they dilly dally and putter about. A lot of meetings, a lot of sex, a lot of angst and not enough info. Not enough crumbs.
Overall I do like the series I just wish it wasn’t so slow in giving the audience some answers.
So the first two books were really good, the third was ok, the fourth started doing off with the engagement of the plot, but i figured id give the 5th book a chance. I was slowly disappointed. There is suspense trees, but it was widely resolved by a group of kids that somehow over take the most powerful witches in this world. Not believable. It just goes downhill from there. I think the author tried to keep up the mystery, but she dumped so many plus in this book it was too much to keep track of and i started to lose interest I the characters. I will not be getting the next book.
Not as much filler in this one. But still just ok. Nothing stellar about this. I do have to say the relationship between Maeve and Tobias is getting on my nerves. Pick a lane and stay in it. Yes this latest revelation affects it but only mildly. Because Maeve does not seem out off by him. So seriously get on with the story and quit calling the books terms since you are still in term two but the next book is term 6. This author drew me to the characters tears in book one enough that I keep sticking around but I can tell you 7 and 8 are not books I’m planning to read after this mess.
Term Five was the best book in this series so far!!! I absolutely loved it. So many secrets are finally revealed and relationships have grown so much between Maeve and her guys. At points, this book was really suspenseful and at others, the romance was turned up a notch. I loved everything about this book and can’t wait for more in Term Six! I’m excited to finally find out all the rest of the secrets and for Maeve and her guys to truly solidify their bond together! Great read and highly recommended!!!
Things really get interesting in this one. It starts right where the last one stopped, stupid cliffhangers! Maeve and Tobias have been taken by a Blackwood witch and now Jamie, Ash, and Andrei have to figure out how to get them back without getting killed in the process. It will take some blood magic and some help from an old friend, and a few new ones, to free them. Now the group has even more questions, and more secrets, to unravel. The ending will, once again, make you scream and pull out your hair. Yep, cliffhanger.
Can life get any more messed up for our beloved heroine? The things she goes through are rough and it continues to stir up her harem. This series has been fantastic and I wait on pins and needles for term six. Will we find out what’s below, who’s giving away secrets and who can they trust. Are they ready to face their biggest challenge yet...because we all can feel something big is coming!! Good luck Maeve and her team of temptations!! Can’t wait to find out!
Term 4 left us on a cliffhanger and boy, term 5 does not disappoint. We finally meet characters that had only been referred to previously - Andrei's mother for one (and she is a nasty piece of work). Amelia makes a welcome return and as for Maeve's relationship with Tobias, well no spoilers here, but a great twist. The storyline is gripping, the action ramps up a bit and the character depth keep getting better and better. Bring on term 6!
Just WOW! This term had sooooo many twists and turns, and a few MASSIVE shockers! You definitely need to have read all previous books in this series of risk being confused. Trust me it's well worth it!! This book is filled to the brim with adventure, secrets, romance, supernatural craziness and a group of people willing to do darn near anything to protect each other. I couldn't out this book down. I highly recommend reading this❤.
I like that this book starts tying together the paths in which the various characters have found themselves during the series. The storyline is interesting and a nice approach to academy books. The only thing I didn’t really like is the way the main character’s romantic life has developed, but that’s just me. Overall, I’m excited to see how the finale of the series plays out.
🙌🙌🙌🙌 OMG... I can’t put this book down, I love ❤️ love ❤️ love ❤️ this series.... And it doesn’t get any better than this, definitely a page turner, nail biting, can’t put the book down type.... I have to read the Term 6 ... I can’t wait, another month before it’s out...I hope I’m not up all night again. 😂 lol 😂
This has been the most exciting book of the series and had some excellent twists and surprises in store. From start to finish the plot stepped up its game and there was never a dull moment. The book does finish with a huge cliffhanger and as I am listening to it, I have to wait for the next audiobook to be released. While my opinion hasn't changed much on the narration, I think the main character voices have become more noticeably different.
you did it again ! action packed all the way through, i like that each boy gets his moment with Meave in this book. The book is absolutely amazing each one gets better (i know i have said this after each book but its true!) i adore all the guys but for me Tobias is just awesome. i am going to cry ugly tears when this is series is over! CONGRATS ON ANOTHER GREAT BOOK X
This book has so many twists and turns that it sucks you in and has you wanting more when it is over. I devoured it in a single day because I couldn’t put it down! I am starting to really love Tobias, but Andrei still has my heart. I love how strong Maeve is and though she and Tobias do not see eye to eye, I love how they work together to get things done. I cannot wait to see what happens next!
Oh man! Some very crazy and interesting things happen in this book! Thar definitely felt like a rollercoaster ride with the ups and downs going on in the story! Maeve and her guys keep dealing with twists and turns who know where this will end! It was nice to see Amelia again even briefly. I'm super excited for Term six for sure!
