Much to Cale's chagrin, Prince Albert has tasked him with traversing a treacherous desert in search of the dark elves. Yet what he discovers in the ill-rumored crimson wasteland is unlike anything he's ever imagined! Later, after a brief respite for a festival back home, he treks onward to the Ten Finger Mountains. Among the peaks, another band of elves is locked in a fierce battle against an all-too-familiar foe. With Ancient Powers, masterful allies, and a mighty dragon on his side, there's no harm in Cale joining the fray--or is there?
Entertaining as usual! Lots of adventures and new characters. Above all, Raon and Cale’s interaction is so much fun to read. The way the dragon has learned to recognize Cale’s scheming smirk got me laughing.
‹Why’re you smiling like you do with the crown prince, human? Are you scamming someone?›
I love that we also get to see heartwarming moments between them. When Raon finally got his revenge, Cale was right by his side, consoling the dragon. And when Cale was injured, Raon was beside himself with fury and worry.
I’m looking forward to the next books! I got a feeling that this might become one of my favorite series.
This was definitely my favorite volume so far, it was very action packed! Cale is such an unreliable narrator acting like he doesnt care when everything he does helps someone out. His whole group being in awe of him and wanting to protect him because they care for him T_T found family Also raon is sooo cute… his little telepathic messages to cale are so cute and funny, he rlly is just a 5 year old little guy. Im excited to finally meet the gold dragon; hes so pretty in the manwha… This series is fun and a nice palette cleanser, its easy to understand but also has adorable moments especially when Cale interacts with roan, ohn, and hong. also choi han is so funny bc just a silly guy whose incredibly strong
High Fantasy, Transmigration, Found Family, Adventure, Comedy, Dragons! Chapters 84~122 of the web serialisation. This volume was a rollercoaster. We start with the heavy theme of Raon's revenge😢, then we get sweet Mary🥰, we swindle some gold as usual, we mess up with Arm, then we swindle more gold, and finally we end on a high note: Eruhaben!! I'm hyped!! Sorry but I can't help fan-girling when Eruhaben shows up!!
Arcs included: 1-Raon's Revenge Part II 2-The Battle of Hais Island 3-The City of Death & The Dark Elves 4-The Festival in Rain City 5-The Fire of Destruction & The Battle of The Elf Village 6-The Destruction of The Magic Tower 7-The Ancient Dragon
PS: The fact that Eruhaben is the Korean prononciation of Erhaven 😂😭 Also, it has been almost a year since Kim-Roksu transmigrated into the novel, as Cale gets 19 years old during the Fesrival.
the action parts are finally here, and cale is almost done collecting his family (and ancient powers) 🤭🤩 so excited to meet more of goldie gramps in the next volume, and i believe it also covers one of my fave battles in the series!!
Lots of fun stuff in this novel & I am getting excited now that we are getting into the territory beyond what the manhwa has covered. Surprisingly I found Tunka adorable in this novel 😂 (Tunka is the warmonger barbarian)
Note: As a reader of the web novel, spoilers refer to future events that have not yet occurred in the translated volumes. View them at your own discretion.
Gah, this was so much fun! Literally so much happens in this volume, LOL.
We're entering "I don't remember the specifics" territory here - the first two volumes are perhaps the portions I've re-read the most times, whereas from vol.3 onward it's mostly what I have read that first time I devoured this mammoth of a series. For example, I certainly didn't remember that a year goes by before Cale gets the crazy fire!
It definitely feels different to read this knowing what's ahead - I have been noticing more and more seemingly innocuous comments that are in fact foreshadowing for things far, far down the road (as in, hundreds of chapters down the road), such as: It's also somewhat amusing seeing Cale act without realizing that his actions will prevent what he believes will happen from happening.
Moreover, this is the volume in which Mary, my beloved, is introduced!! In my head, this was both something that happens later on and something that has already happened, so when I realized we were heading to the City of the Dead, I nearly jumped out of my metaphorical chair in joy. And then to end this volume on ?! Be still my beating heart!
As for the translation, I am really enjoying it - although how desperately I wish they wouldn't translate honorifics like Eonni (or at the very least, provide a footnote explanation)... Not only does "big sis" sound really weird in English, but I also think it would look very unusual to people who have no familiarity with Korean culture.
- i've read the webtoon equivalent of the third light novel. goodreads does not have a way to track that you've read a webtoon, so i am cheating and using the novel books to track it instead. i have not read the light novels, only the webtoon, and my rating is based on that.
-Cale buys the abandoned magical tower. he helps the jungle people put out a fire. with some help, the little dragon gets his revenge on the person who tortured him for 4 years before Cale freed him. they battle against the dark magician, and try to save Ron. lots more wheels are set in motion.
--volume 3 of the light novel - chapters 84-122 (84 is split) [or season three = chapters 93-134 depending on which source is correct, i am unsure.]
-it seems perhaps the chapters of the light novel don't quite match the chapters of the webtoon? that light novel chapter 112/113 = webtoon chapter 134? again, unsure.
i have currently read up through chapter 134 of the webtoon, so i should start at 135 when more are released.
awaiting volume 4 of the light novel - which either starts at chapter 123 - or at chapter 135 depending. release date june 3 2025. the prince sends Cale and his people on a mission to the dark elves. Cale acquires another ancient power.
134 chapters is all that website currently has for free. (5-6-25) season four on the website will start at chapter 135, possibly mid october? - index for the free webtoon - https://mangatoto.com/title/81878-lou...
-also known as "Trash of the Count's Family"
-has 776 chapters in Korean and is ongoing. not all are officially translated to english yet, and not all are available online for free yet. not published as a print manga in english yet, only as the light novel.
Armed with knowledge of the novel series he’s been transported into, Kim Roksu, now Cale Henituse, is moving forward with his plans to ready for impending war. However, the changes he’s already made have altered the original story’s course, and he finds himself dealing with challenges both anticipated and not. From torture and scamming to helping elves and magical beasts — plus the mysterious terrorist organization known as Arm — Cale and his entourage have their work cut out for them. But he’s nearing the last of his knowledge about what happens in this world, meaning he'll be flying blind soon. Will his schemes be enough to prepare for what's the come?
Starting off this third novel with torture was a bit of a rough start for me, but once that's over, the tone becomes lighter, more what I'm used to, as Cale and company get on with his next set of plans. The group travels extensively in this novel, from the Kingdom of the Whipper and the village of Harris to the dark elves' settlement in the desert and the Ten Finger Mountains. Throughout, Cale either manipulates people to further his own plans or deals with unexpected troubles that arise and comes out the unlikely hero (except in the eyes of his entourage, who believe him to be a saint in wolf's clothing). There's little in the way of character development, but the cast itself is so diverse and well portrayed that I didn't feel like the story fell flat. This was yet another fun read in the "Lout of Count's Family" series, and I look forward to more in the next book.
Cale has one final promise to fulfill to Raon: revenge. And now that they have a little bit of a break, it's the perfect time to pull things off. After that, though, Albert has errands for him to run, to pick up an item from the dark elves. Between dark elves, regular elves, necromancers, and more, Cale's not living a very quiet life . . .
This is the volume where Cale and Albert start getting more of a chance to talk to one another. Which is usually fun because they're so alike they can't stand each other, but somehow even in the course of this book it's easy to tell they're becoming friends. For Albert, Cale is unlike most of the nobility with his carefree, troublemaking life. For Cale, Albert is a useful person to dump all the annoying things onto. After all, SOMEONE has to handle the fine details of all the plots Cale is hatching.
It's also fun to see more new fantasy races pop in. Dark elves here have a lore rather different than usual, but Cale isn't terribly fond of either of them, because he's traveling with a dragon and ALL elves worship dragons. And that sounds like too much trouble for the lazy noble.
But for all the plans Cale's made to deal with the war he knows is coming, this book is also where things start going outside of what he knows in a big way. He's coming to the end of his foreknowledge, and soon he'll be left to operate on guesses and not certainties.
Overall this is another strong volume. Highly Recommended.
This was definitely a really fun installment of this light novel/webnovel book (whatever you want to call it). I love the progression of the fight against the Secret Organisation, the implications that we are fast coming to the end of Cale's foreknowledge, and the ending where we find . I'm sad that the fourth volume isn't easily available for me (I might have to go back to the wentoon for it) because I can't wait to see how that meeting is handled.
I enjoyed Cale finding having some more major consequences of his liking to throw himself at the problem with his Ancient Powers (and everyone's reactions were perfect), as well as how he is quite obviously parenting the baby dragon (teaching him how to save while he's young!). The group dynamics were really fun in this one and as always, I have new sympathy for the Prince who has to deal with Cale all the time.
As a webnovel reader and with LCF being one of my favourite stories, I'm absolutely loving these!! So far, at some point the story may have felt kinda uneventful but trust me the plot's just starting to thicken and this volume is so lighthearted and wholesome. Mary and Eruhaben are finally here, no doubt they'd be everyone's favourite at some point ❤️ The whole found family troupe, Cale's unachievable dream of slacker life, the comedy, Raon, the kittens, Choi Han's terrible attempts at acting and everyone's dynamic, I just love them all.
Another fantastic volume of Lout of Count's Family. This series fits my humour, fantasy, and found family tastes perfectly. Cale's oblivion to the vengeful protection of his surrounding clan is hilarious in this. A fun, yet unique, main character, side-characters that are loveable and, despite how many of them there are, you can keep track easily, and a hero that wins so much that no anxiety is experienced, just an epic and enjoyable adventure!
With each book in the series I find them harder and harder to put down. Luckily when I picked up the series, books 1 through 4 had already been released and book 5 was due any day. While this book and the previous one have more of the same basic ideas from the first one, nothing feels stale or played out. Each new twist and turn feels refreshing and enjoyable. Couldnt wait to read more.
This was my favorite volume so far, and there was quite a lot I enjoyed! Seeing Cale use a strong power and immediately get hurt and faint? Yeth please, and seeing the scene afterwards was delicious. I love my family moments that happen throughout this series. I’m excited for where this is going to go with how this volume ended.
I wish they elaborated more on Raon's revenge mostly because, he really deserves to die and four days just feels too little for four years of pain. Otherwise, I love this series, its so easy to read I plowed through it.
Again, a lot happened in this book, and the plot is finally moving past the point that our protagonist has foreknowledge about. Not always understanding what Cale is thinking or planning, but it’s entertaining.
all the action and collecting happened, super exciting!! I enjoyed seeing Cale and his squad show off their strength whilst Raon is just a silly 4, or now 5 year old dragon flexing his strength ... oughh raon my child
Ughhh I love it… I’ve been in love with Cale and I’m getting more in love with him as the novel goes on. The best part of this volume will be Cale’s interaction with Albert… so good
