Not Fine: The Hidden Cost of Caring

Rate this book
When asked if everything is OK? How many times have you replied with the

I'm fine.

When you have been anything but fine?

Not fine is a book that aims to help open this crucial conversation. It is the raw and brave story of Donna Davis. A New Zealand Police Officer who stood in the frontline to keep us safe. What Donna didn't know, was the lasting impact of the trauma, grief and hidden costs of caring that can come with such essential work.

Like many aspects of mental wellbeing this is still a taboo topic. The roots of trauma are often set in motion long before any visible signs. Donna believes it doesn't need to be this way. She also firmly believes many frontline workers may be able to manage such impacts so they are not left with the heartbreaking decision to leave a job they have dedicated their lives to.

Together with the voices of other frontline workers, Donna's words provide solace and a powerful call for change.

Not Fine is a must read for all and is set to forever change lives ... well beyond the blue.

Written by a very dear friend of mine.

Details the cost that carers in our community pay. Police, nurses, midwives and how to deal with the trauma these occupations are exposed to.

Written with a positive, not heavy focus. Her podcast is exceptional as well.
