it's just too damn long, I'm a fast reader and I still have over 4 hours of reading to finish this book. the problem is I'm bored, it's just wash, rinse n repeat.

this is a classic example of an author who doesn't know when to stop and doesn't have a professional editor.

such a shame, it was a great story n characters but at 702 pages it's way too long, should have been half that long.

and now it's put me off reading her next books ffs

Riveting

Great character development with action, magic, love and family bonds. Easy read but not the same old story. Fantastic female lead. A little too much misdirection between the leads but it all ends well.

Bentornate Fenici!

Senza troncature o cose lasciate in sospeso.

Contradictions

Okay Jax was really obnoxious in a lot of this book but what really got me was the constant contradictions. Like the Mother was on her way to the pack on ones page and two pages later she was staying home to guard the fort. That's just one of a lot of minor detail contradictions made within pages of each other. It happened so often that I felt like I was constantly going back to reread passages to see if I misunderstood stuff. The content editor on this one really wasn't paying attention and while the prose is clean enough you can tell Iris used a real editor and put work into making her story professional whoever was supposed to be editing to avoid those ripped her off.

Overall this is an amazingly well developed world and I loved the way Iris took the time to humanize every villain, to prove no one was all good or evil and how our paths so dramatically shape us as people. Not one bad guy in this series really seemed to start off bad. They weren't born evil. And the fact that this was done proves Iris is an incredibly talented writer who really put a lot of effort into creating extremely fleshed out worlds and well developed characters.

Though I think the book could use another edit, I would definitely recommend the series.

Bound to the Alpha King

Jax, London and Elonzo unite to fight off Maeve's attempt at gaining control of the mountain and all the packs. To do this she must sacrifice a daughter, Anna and Anna's kin. She's worked on this for decades but in the end she is defeated and her son Finn kills her to end her tyranny. Jax and Anna live happily ever after. Great story, hard to put down.

This was a good conclusion to the duology. Inwill say I did think for 700 pages it needed a little quicker pacing. I'll also say the synopsis is a little deceiving but all that said tbe plot was good. I took aome starts off because the conflict with Jax and Anna was redundant and was dragged out longer than necessary.

I love these

A sometimes brutal story, it grabbed me from page one. Someone in a Facebook group raved about the books and now I have to go back and find a group and to thank that person. So glad I read them. If you want a great story, with a shot of darkness, that is steamy, then this series is for you.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/5

A review of Books One and Two: An Alpha Story Anna and Jax

It is my first book by this author, and I have read both. The plot is well-written, and the main characters mature and grow. The first book was okay. I was unsure if I wanted to continue. I must say that I was not a fan of Jax initially; however, he slowly grew. I felt the first book was repetitive, with chapter after chapter focusing on Anna's feelings about the mating and Jax’s willingness to accept the mating bond. It was a continuous back-and-forth of should I leave or is the best solution that I die? Does he love me or not? Only the wolf accepts the mating bond, and how will I survive without killing the pack? However, I appreciate the background of Anna and how she survived her father’s atrocities. The plot is slowly unraveled in book two, and the reader learns about the five-year-old Anna's previous life. It was a happy family life until it was not. Again, Anna's life is in danger. Jax and Anna have accepted their mating bond. But evil is lurking close to the pack, trying to destroy the pack and the mating bond to gain power from Anna's abilities as a ternary. Book two unravels an old prophecy that surrounds Anna's ability. The author's writing is good, and questions are answered as the writer unfolds the plot. The author did an excellent job on book two. I would recommend reading it.

An Outstanding Duet. ** NO SPOILERS **

What a story!

The FMC Anna has had the roughest of rough lives, living with her father both as rogues she’d stopped believing in ‘Happily Ever Afters’. Her father was a monster, nothing less than a serial killer. He was full on crazy but that wasn’t an excuse. He’d wanted to build his own pack and be an Alpha so he kidnapped other shifters and tried to build it from the ground up. His daughter was tortured alongside his other captives beaten down, tortured scarred and timid.

Until the day the Alpha of the Black Diamond pack attacked and killed him for killing one of his she wolves. The ‘mate bond’ clicked into place when they looked at each other, was this it then? Did she have the genuine love of her mate?

Believing her complicit with her father’s murderous acts he despised Anna and rejected her. She wasn’t an ordinary shifter though, Anna is a null untouched and unconstrained by magic. There’s a lot more to Anna and Jax’s story, over the course of the duet secrets and lies emerge from the most unlikely places. They do eventually get physically intimate with each other and whilst there are plenty of spicy scenes it’s not used to try and mask a poor storyline. Far from it this series has genuine depth and it left me with plenty of questions about the wider world it’s set in. Definitely well worth reading.

Story pacing was way too slow. 2.5 stars

This book picks up where Rejected by the Alpha King left off. Unfortunately, things haven’t improved much from the last book. Honestly, with a bit of good editing, this story could have been told in a single book. There was too much filler and I found myself struggling at times to remain interested. I won’t say it’s a horrible book, but it could have been better.

The plot was good, and there were some plot twists that did give me a WTF moment. I just feel like the author took too long to get to some of the pivotal moments. And yes, there were some eye rolling things that I figured out in the first couple of chapters that the characters couldn’t seem to see, if it was tattooed on the back of their hand, until nearly the end of the book. And, like the last book, the two main characters completely suck at communication. It was maddening to read.

While the main plot of the book was resolved by the end here, there were a couple of sub-plots that were rather left hanging. Two secondary characters, Finn and London, both alphas of neighboring packs, both found their mates - but one didn’t want a mate, and other’s mate didn’t want him. But there was enough sexual tension there that I really hope this series circles back around to them. I’d like to see them get their happy ending.

The complexity of Anna and Jax’s journey is crazy intense in this continuing series novel. Poor Anna still seems to keep getting the short end of the stick, but keeps coming back stronger! She is a great example of a strong, but emotionally appropriate character without being whiny.
Jax kind of comes off as a jerk for some (a bit) of the book. He has his alpha tendencies , but he takes it a bit farther.
We do see the other alpha again and they are great side characters. There are other side characters that add a lot to the story like Saul, Amelia, and Kenzi. There are some spicy scenes and darker scenes. Please read the author’s trigger warning at the beginning of the book.
So many twists and turns in the novel, which keeps you on your toes. You think the novel will go one way, then the story drifts another way. It’s done well. I would like to see the writing to be a bit more concise or break the novel up into two novels because it was kind of long at over 500 pages for this kind novel for my taste.
Overall, this is a quality novel for those like spicy paranormal romance novels!.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a great world and a very good story for this duology. That being said, though, these two books were just so freaking long. Not to mention, there were some minor inconsistencies everywhere. This book needed a good editor and some better pacing.

The world was good, and I wish that there are more stories in this world. I want to know what happens with Finn and Amelia, for example. I just hope that it doesn't stretch out as long as these books did. These could have been cut down a whole lot.
There was so much reptition with certain things, too. If Jax would just talk to Anna, so much would be fine.

I will move on to the next book. Amazon is showing this is the start of a 40 book series with multiple authors, so I doubt these are in the same world, but one can only hope.
I don't think I would read them again, though. It would take too long.

great book

A lot going on in this book. Fmc has been through a lot. Mmc is very cold. Now both characters grow a bit. She kinda becomes bratty and he seems to do what he always does and runs away. I wish there was a little more growth between them. I think there should have been more chapters bc of this. I mean the steam was good but they can’t communicate very well even at the end. There was just so much going on that the actual characters never really progressed. After the end of the book it asks if u want to read more about the couple to click below but it takes u the third book. Idk what’s up with that but idk if I’m going to read it.

Better than book 1…

I don’t know what to say about this other than I liked it more than the first book. I think it’s because the hatred was toned down and the relationship building was more important. Not just the one between Jax and Anna, but the relationships with other wolves, other packs, and the witches. It got very complex but it was very interesting to see. Digging up the huge conspiracy was really interesting and it got very intense in my opinion.

The characters seemed to grow and Jax did finally understand his feelings for Anna made him stronger. There was still some betrayal that surprised me but the right characters worked together and overcame it. And I figured out the Big Bad with no problem because it was really obvious.

I liked this one and recommend it for shifter lovers. KU read…

I’m glad I read book 2.

I definitely liked that some of the characters showed growth in this book. I think that if you continue reading the series, some of the other characters will have interesting stories also.
Here is a minor spoiler so you might want to stop reading this review:
There is a prophecy given fairly early in this book. The meaning was obvious to me and I read fiction to escape, so I don’t over analyze things, but Jax was too stupid to figure it out even though the truth was a clearly stated goal by one of the characters. It cost the book a star on my rating.

author had to ruin it

Less than 1/4 of the way in and I’m completely annoyed. I already don’t like cliff hangers to try and goad more money out of a people for what could have been one book. The only redemption was you were warned about it first. But now….We are right back to Anna not knowing how Jax feels and her wanting to leave. Blah blah. Didn’t we end the first book with her never wanting to leave him again and him being crazy without her. Can’t we come up with another story line? I could just end it here and pretend she was rescued and the bad guy is gone. I have only a certain amount of time on this planet and think I’m going to pass on book 2.

Main Characters:
Alpha Jax & Anna

Review:
I liked the first book, but I didn't understand why this duology was solved in the very beginning of the second book. Then there was like 600 more pages of just more and more. I did enjoy it, but I just thought there was so much more then there needed to be.

Tropes:
-Enemies to Lovers
-Fae
-Magic
-Mates
-Shifters
-Smut
-Witches
-Wolf

Quotes:
"Jax is going to be so pissed if I’m a mermaid when he gets home.” “I have no doubt that he’ll build you a very nice pond.”

“Do not let the darkness take away from your joy, or you will fall to it no matter how hard you fight”

An interesting story but. . .

There were too many typos, wrong words, and a plot error (she changed the name of Emerson's pack from what it was in the first book). I like the premise, but have to admit that my lack of appreciation for how the first book didn't let you know that it was a cliffhanger colored how I felt about this series overall. In either case the story was imaginative and if it weren't for all of the typos I could have sunk into it a bit better but still enjoyed it.

Pregnant with Alpha Jax's pup and hunted by a vengeful alpha? Yeah, life's complicated for Anna in Bound to the Alpha King. With her pack's survival at risk, she faces impossible choices: run, fight, or sacrifice herself. Cue high-stakes drama, sizzling romance, and enough tension to keep you glued to the pages!

The chemistry between her and Jax is off the charts and the action? Non-stop. If you love fierce heroines, dangerous enemies, and alpha males who don't know when to quit, this book is for you.

A lot going on in this 2nd book. I feel like it was longer than necessary. There were times I felt that there were parts of the story weren't needed while there was a lot that was needed. Same for some characters. I really felt that the conflict between Jax and Anna didn't make sense for the second book. I felt that it was solved during the first but it kept coming up throughout the 2nd and it took away from the plot. But I still enjoyed the book and the world the author created. I think better editing would have made a huge difference.

This had a great story concept and I easily read the page heavy duet in a couple of days. However, the constant inconsistencies and continuity issues took me out of it. I will read more of this series because I am interested in the other characters and hoping the holes were more carefully paid attention to with more time and books. An entire child was erased from one book to the other in this one for just an example.

good read but…

Author didn’t take into account Cindy’s toddler? And also the thing about there being 5 packs? Also did I miss a conversation about the mountain being isolated from a King?
Like how Anna mentioned she would get arrested if she left the Mountain but young pack wolves had left for university?

ok read some what hard to read in certain areas

I enjoyed the story line and how it ended but it took me several chapters to get in to the book. The content leaves a lot of room for world building and expansion into different plots

However, the typos were frequent and it started to take away from the flow of the book.

The first book was a 4 star read for me. This one only gets 3. It’s not that it was a bad book, but it was messy. The author was trying to weave too much together, there were too many threads to pull before the end. I usually read a book like this in 2 days or so. I worked through this one over 6 freaking days. I didn’t want to DNF it, but I was frustrated with how it dragged so often.

Good read

This is one of the better paranormal wolf shifter books I have read recently. The plot was well paced, the characters were well developed, and the storytelling was engaging. Even though I figured out a critical plot twist much earlier in the book, I still enjoyed the drive towards the ending.
Well done!

Death of the Mountain or a Witch Wolf?

So much happened in this follow up book. Anna and Jax finally found their mate bond but fall apart in this sequel. Witches and wolves die. The enemy is stronger and more cunning. A prophecy becomes two. Is the mountain going to die with the darkness, or will Anna be sacrificed for the good of all?

Null but not void

What a hard life! So much pain, anger, treachery and betrayal but balanced by trust and love. Anna and Jax have fought so hard to finally have their happy ending and it was gratifying to read it. This book had everything that makes a fulfilling story.

Great story! I just kept going until I'd read the series! Very addictive.

Has some obvious grammar/proofreading errors but the story is good enough I could look over that.

Great read

Like I said I truly enjoyed reading the whole series and I definitely do recommend it. The story is very intriguing but I do hope this isn't the end. Hopefully there will be more run offs from this. I really do hope to see more from this series!
