A Tense and Thrilling Adventure Through Dublin's Shadows
After the tragic death of her mother in a car accident and the ending of a coercive relationship with fiancé Donal, a new city and a new job offer Eimear Martin a fresh start – an opportunity for healing and renewal.
At first, her new life in Dublin seems perfect, but her fragile peace is shattered when unsettling and bewildering events begin to occur.
A threatening letter and damage to her property are only the start of the dark web closing in. Her life and sanity are in danger.
Someone is determined to isolate her. Someone who is a master manipulator. Everywhere she turns, she encounters dead ends and rejection – even from those she considered friends.
Terrified by the malignant presence pursuing her, Eimear is forced to find new allies and fight back.
Another riveting read from Florence. This book is just a great thriller. Florence’s books are never what they seem and this one was certainly one of those. I thought I knew what was going on but this was one big twist and turns of a book. I read it in a day. Would highly recommend it. Looking forward to her next one.
Read this in a day. Really pacy, convincing characters. Appreciated the feminist overtones and (without giving spoilers) the setting within our recent shameful history. Highly recommend!
I loved Florence Gillan's previous two novels, really loved them. Unfortunately, this one didn't hit the spot. Granted, there is a decent twist and is well written, but I found the main character, Eimear, really hard work and difficult to engage with. Definitely worth a read though.
Unfortunately I didn't enjoy Tangled Web as much as 'Let them lie', the author's first book. I found the first half of the book a bit boring and not very engaging, but it picked up a bit in the second half. Not a bad book, but not a fantastic one either.
I did not expect how this went, and really enjoyed the twist and characters. The thriller gripped and unnerved me as it developed and I just had to finish it! I loved the ending.
