As young Elias shepherds his flock among the hills of Bethlehem, he enjoys contemplating the words of the prophets he once studied at the synagogue. But when a new star appears in the sky over the field, the scriptures are illuminated as never before. The Savior, born in humble circumstances, becomes a touchstone throughout Elias’s life as he records every account of Jesus of Nazareth. Perhaps no one will read the words of a lowly shepherd, but Elias does not seek recognition—his personal witness of the miraculous life and legacy of the Good Shepherd is enough.

‘There. There it was again. A new star burning steady and bright.’
Anytime @authorhbmoore releases a scriptural based story I know I’m going to do everything I can to read it. One of my favorite things about Heather’s writing, especially when it is a book based on a true story, is that I know I’m going to get a new look into history and see things from a different perspective.
That was certainly the case with Shepherd’s Seeking. If you are a fan of The Chosen, I think you’d really enjoy picking this one up!
We see glimpses of the Savior’s mortal journey through the eyes of a shepherd boy. First, at the Savior’s birth; then 12 years later when the shepherd watches the Savior teaching, and then one last time 24 years later when the Savior has been crucified and resurrected.
This is a perfect booklet to read as we enter into the season of celebrating the birth of our Savior and how He shares His light for us each day of our lives.
I loved this one!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I love this beautiful story that features a young shepherd boy named Elias. I loved watching the connections between the Savior's birth and a few other important moments in his mortal life, and Elias's life.
I loved the thoughts it provoked in my own heart and mind and to think of my relationship with Jesus Christ as the Savior, Redeemer and Shepherd of this world. The knowledge that He blesses me with as I read His teachings in the scriptures and listen and ponder and study. I'm so grateful for His loving guidance and greatest example of serving, loving and truly taking time to see and help those around us.
This story was such a beautiful illustration of that. Thank you to H. B. Moore for taking the time to write this tender story to help us all in our journeys, no matter what part of it we are at, in becoming closer to the One True Shepherd!
I'm excited to read this during the Christmas season with my family to help us take time to look inward at who we are and who we can become through Christ's love and guidance!
Content: Clean, Christian elements.
I received a copy from the author via the publisher. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
A review of significant events in the Savior’s life as witnessed through the eyes of a shepherd. Elias is a young boy at the time of the Lord’s birth in Bethlehem. He witnesses the angels appearance bringing the news. As the years go by he happens to meet the Savior many more times. He records his thoughts and experiences.
An interesting and introspective account that gives us opportunity to contemplate Christ and the Gift he is.
~As young Elias shepherds his flock among the hills of Bethlehem, he enjoys contemplating the words of the prophets he once studied at the synagogue. But when a new star appears in the sky over the field, the scriptures are illuminated as never before...
“Come.” Follow Me.”
-Shepherds Seeking, is a beautiful account of Elias, a shepherd. When a new star appeared in the sky over the field where the flock were at night, the scriptures were brought to life as never before, as the Savior, was born in humble circumstances. This moment becomes a touchstone throughout Elias’s life as he records every account of Jesus of Nazareth from that remarkable night and onward. I was impressed that even if no one but Elias’s brothers read his words, Elias continued to record his thoughts and insights, and that not once does Elias ever seek for any recognition. I loved that Elias’s personal witness of the miraculous life and legacy of the Good Shepherd was simply enough. I was uplifted with how Elias recognized that his writings and observations were important but, also how his actions towards others would be more significant!
“Rise. Come and see.”
I was gently reminded again with the example of Elias, and how he vowed to share the teachings of Jesus until the end of his earthy days. The beautiful details and imagery, are precisely weaved into this dear booklet. The peace and joy I felt as I read, touched in my heartstrings. I loved the message from this booklet that, we too can be like shepherds and still be seeking today is of great worth! Serving with love to our families and to our neighbors has great significance. This wonderful booklet, is worth reading.🙌🏻📚✨
“Serving as a shepherd to his loved ones and his neighbors would be the best way to emulate the Good Shepherd and Savior of the World.

“Elias knew he’d never forget this moment. Not even when he was an old man with a lifetime of memories.”
This beautiful short story is a wondrous reminder of the reason for the season. Following the experiences of Elias, a shepherd, and his experiences with Jesus, it’s touching to see how he holds on to those snippets of time.
As a young boy, he devoured the words and teachings and watched for a new star to appear. His brief encounters only solidified his desire to learn all he could and to share these stories with his family and all around him.
HB Moore always does such a great job of bringing the Bible to life in a way that makes it so easy to visualize.
*Many thanks to the author and publisher for the review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were voluntarily given*
What a beautiful and thought-provoking sweet read for the Christmas season! Fans of the Chosen and readers of other H.B. Moore scriptural-inspired books will definitely want to pick this one up.
I loved following Elias's story, beginning with his time as a young shepherd and the pivotal moment in which he is invited to know the Savior of the World intimately and personally. There were so many great moments in which Elias's interaction with Christ caused me to reflect on what it must've been like to live during Jesus' time. For me, that's what makes a good religious historical fiction- I feel like I am able to insert myself into the narrative and use it as a springboard to more deeply understand the biblical text.
I found myself caught up in story, and I read it all in one sitting. I will probably do another reread this Christmas season (that's how impactful and meaningful it was for me). Content wise, it's a perfectly clean read, appealing to a general Christian audience, with just a hint of romance. It's the perfect thing to buy in bulk for a group gift or for that friend that already has everything. Overall, this was a great read!
I enjoyed reading this little booklet. I liked how it took us into the life of a shepherd who was there when the angels sang announcing the birth of Christ. I liked how it showed other times that this shepherd saw or heard Christ and how that changed his life. I thought this story was perfect for reminding us not only at Christmas, but to always seek Christ and that he knows and loves us.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
I felt my Saviors love while reading this story. It brought tears to my eyes as it effortlessly went through the different events in the saviors life seen through the eyes of Elias. The significance of the lamb was touching to say the least.
I have a renewed conviction to write the feelings impressed upon my heart, and write the day to day happenings along with the treasured moments and blessings. Even though Elias felt he was a lowly shepherd, his personal witness of the Good Shepherd made a difference to his family. And I know our own witness of Christ can make a difference in the lives of those we come in contact with.
If you need to take a moment on a Sunday or throughout your week to feel the tender love of our Savior, this story will do the trick. The power and truth Heather depicted in 25 pages warmed my heart. Thank you for this treasure!
This was such a lovely read to get into the Christmas spirit!
It’s a sweet, short pamphlet-style story following a shepherd experiencing various events in the Savior’s life. Elias sees the new Star and the angels announcing Christ’s birth as a young boy, sees the baby Jesus, hears Jesus preach in the temple in Jerusalem, and meets Jesus on the road to Jerusalem for His final Passover. I love the way Moore keeps to the facts of what we know of Jesus’s life while also adding to the story a bit through Elias’s (realistic but fictional) experiences. Experiencing these events alongside Elias humanizes the people in Israel during Jesus’s life and makes it feel more real in that magical way fiction has.
Thank you to H.B. Moore for the gifted copy! All opinions are my own.

Shepherds Seeking is a beautiful short story by Heather Brown Moore that captures the life of the Savior through the eyes of a humble shepherd.
Elias was a young boy tending sheep with his brother when he saw the star & witnessed angels proclaiming Jesus’ birth. Longing to see the Christ child, he unfortunately has to stay behind to watch the sheep. Just when he thinks hope is lost, he’s able to see the holy babe. In the coming years he encounters Jesus a few more times with each one leaving a lasting impression which he records.
It’s a gorgeously written short story of only 25 pages but contains so much. There’s even a hint of romance. I loved reading each encounter with the Savior & Elias’ impressions of each one. I enjoyed the symbolism & the retelling of Jesus’ life through Elias’ eyes.
In our home, we’ve had a tradition of reading or watching a Christmas story on Christmas Eve about Jesus’ life. This is definitely one story I’ll enjoy sharing with my family. It would also make a nice gift for neighbors or friends.
Highly recommend! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.
“There. There it was again. A new star burning steady and bright.”
This simple but beautiful story follows the life of Elias the Shepard as he witnesses the birth of Christ that fateful night so long ago. I enjoyed how it brought in scripture from both the Old and New Testament. It was also neat to read the Christmas story through the eyes of a Shepard boy. In some ways it reminded me of a favorite tv show of mine, The Chosen.
The booklet is a quick 25 pages long. It would be perfect for a family reading or a gift for a child or teen. I personally plan on adding this book to our holiday book collection that my family loves to read through during the holidays.

Heather B. Moore is absolutely amazing at taking true stories from the Bible and combining them with fictional characters in a way that creates a deeply moving story that always touches the heart! Seeing the Savior's birth and like through Elias' perspective, is so special, and the beautiful symbolism of the lamb is especially powerful. This book inspired me to reflect on my own faith and the importance of cherishing both ordinary and extraordinary moments. Elias, though just a shepherd, made a meaningful impact on his family through his witness of Christ. It reminded me that our own testimony can influence those around us as well. If you're seeking a moment of peace and connection with the Savior, this story will offer just that! Heather beautifully conveys profound truths that will stay with you long after reading. This short story is a must read for every Christmas season.
Following the life of the shepherd, Elias, Shepherds Seeking takes readers through the Savior’s birth, key moments of His life, and finally, His death and resurrection. Each of these moments is shared through Elias’ view. His respect and love for His Savior is woven through each encounter. Each moment with Jesus is also a moment of teaching and learning for Elias and readers.
While this is a fictitious account of real events, the author does a wonderful job of sharing the life of Jesus Christ with reverence and love. Her own love is evident throughout this short story, and adding to its message.
I loved Shepherds Seeking by H.B. Moore. Only twenty-five pages, this short story has a powerful message that is perfect for the Christmas season and always.
I received a complimentary copy. A positive review was not required.
Shepherds Seeking is a tender fictional tale of Elias, a lowly shepherd who is knowledgeable in scholarly and religious topics. He volunteers to stay behind when the shepherds go to visit the Christ child after the Angel's visitation. Two lambs are born that night, one in Elias's flock and the other the Lamb of God. Moore weaves a beautiful story together where Elias gets to see and talk to and be witness to the Savior several times throughout his life. There is also a touch of romance between him and the woman who becomes his wife. This is the perfect short heartwarming story to remember the Reason for this Christmas season.
I received a copy of the book from the author and the publisher. Thank you! All thoughts are my own.

It follows a young shepherd boy named Elias who witnesses the angel declare glad tidings of the Savior’s birth. And then we follow him a time or two throughout his life.
It’s a little gem that had my heart bursting full with the true meaning of Christmas. The heartfelt message of hope and worshipping in our own quiet ways is a perfect way to pause this season. I’m looking forward to reading this aloud with my family. Does one little shepherd’s words matter?
Every shepherd matters. Every sheep will be found. Even one can make a difference. Because the Good Shepherd knows His sheep.
This inspiring tale weaves the biblical narrative with a fictional account of a young shepherd boy named Elias, whose journey begins when the miraculous star leads him to witness the Savior's birth. This moment is the foundation for a lifelong quest to document Jesus's ministry. This booklet beautifully captures Elias’s deep faith and unyielding commitment to preserving his experiences and testimony of Jesus.

This beautiful short story features a young shepherd named Elias. He is there as a witness for key moments in the Savior’s life. Although short, this sweet story captured my heart and directed my own thoughts to the birth, ministry, and resurrection of Christ.
I loved how Elias was able to see Jesus in those special ways and how those meetings influenced the already great person Elias was and would continue to be as he grew older and had his own family. The ending of the story was especially meaningful to me.
This book would be a great gift for family and friends for the holiday season.
I received a copy from the publisher. All views are my own.
“I’m here, and I’ll help you.” When the small helpless lamb was born, Elias’s heart sang with the success of the lambs birth, and for how the entire world had changed tonight with the birth of another lamb— the Lamb of God.”
A young scholar turned shepherd loves to contemplate the teachings of the prophets while in the fields. When a new star appears one night, his life is changed forever.
This booklet really touched my heart. It is the perfect way to start the season and bring the events of the birth of the Savior to life in your mind and your heart.
This is one of those Christmas stories that you want to pull out every year to read and reread.
I loved Elias’ journey and his interactions with the Christ Child. I loved his tie to the Shepherd and how His impact was woven throughout Elias’ life.
I certainly shed a few tears as I pondered on the absolute blessing of Jesus Christ in my life and to the world.
Merry Christmas and may we always remember the reason for the season.
Thank you to the author for the early copy. All opinions are my own.
Shepherds Seeking is a Christmas pamphlet. It's the story of Elias. Elias was a shepherd. He happened to be in the fields with his flocks on the first Christmas Eve. But he was chosen to stay behind with the sheep, instead of being able to meet the Holy Child. I loved his journey of belief and faith in this one. It's super short, but well worth the read.
This was a short story about the life of Christ from the perspective of a Shepherd. I loved how it simply taught about Christ and how we much continually seek to follow him. This was the perfect book to help me remember that Christ should be the focus of Christmas.
A young shepherd boy sees the star. The older shepherds leave the one behind while they go to see the new baby . All through the boys life he records what he hears about life of the Savior. He tries to live as the Savior and hopes other people will too from his writings.
Based on a fictional shepherd who saw the Angel. This little book brings the idea that we are all seeking the Saviour and grasping any bits of information we can receive and learn from.
This short story tells of a shepherd boy who after being visited in the fields by angels went to see the baby Jesus. Listened as Jesus, a young boy of twelve, taught in the temple. And was there during the final week of Christ's life.
I love how in just this short story of a shepherd looking for Christ, we can feel how important it is to look toward the Savior. I love how Elias was able to see that being a shepherd wasn't a lowly thing, but could perhaps be considered a noble profession. And that as we watch over and care for others we are doing what Jesus would do.
Thanks to the author and Covenant Communications for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
