Barwell Hollings is a retired engineer who has started a new career as a writer of fiction, science fiction and fantasy novels. His novel series include Surfers, Zombies and Aliens, Abri’s Quest, Space Cat and Henry’s Challenge.

He has also written several short story collections. Stories From An Ordinary Life and Once Upon A Time At The Races are both entertaining collections of personal memoirs. It's an odd short story a police inspector in the Bronx and has uncovered 4 murders of men who were at a certain school in 1965, and that the style of all these killings was that of a professional hit man, a soldier most likely who had some bad connection to them, it reads a bit like a school project and the ending is saying that even men who commit murder can expect to get off scot free.

I read this book to about 7% according to KU. The way the author introduced the protagonist was so in my face that I just felt the conflict was being forced. No subtelty. It was to the point where I didn't want to know what happened because it seemed too contrived.

This was a quick read with amusing and interesting stories. He’s sure done a lot in his life. The Rat story was my favorite. I think it will stick in my memory for a long time!
