Black Claw Dragons: The Complete Series

Rate this book
Black Claw Dragons is the bundled collection of Roxie Ray’s Six possessive Dragons and their stories as each of them finds their fated mate and does anything to keep her safe. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone but for the best reading experience, the author suggests you read them in order.

Her Dragon Daddy

Mav disappeared before I could ever tell him about the child I carried…

I’ve had years to get over him, and I’ve tried. But the second I see him again my heart lurches and it’s like all that time evaporates. I still burn for him, even though I know it’s a bad idea. I try to remind myself about the bad his possessiveness, his quick temper...but he’s different now. More mature. Protective. Settled. But he’s hiding something. Something bigger than the child we share.

Her Dragon Protector

Can I really trust a dragon with my heart?

When I show up in Black Claw with bruises on my face and a split lip, I’m not looking for another man - I’ve made enough bad choices in that department. I’m ready to lie low with my best friend and pray to god that my ex doesn’t come to find me. But Axel isn’t like any of the guys I’ve been drawn to before, and when I find out his secret, I’m not sure I can stand the heat. If my human ex was terrible, could a dragon be any better? But when danger comes knocking, I know Axel’s the one I need to protect me.

Her Dragon Lover

He shot me down…why can’t I forget about him?

I gathered my nerve to approach Stefan, only for him to reject me. Months later, I still can't stop thinking about him, and fate keeps throwing us together. He’s protected me, fixed my car, and his heated looks make my heart race. Yet, Stefan won’t make a move—until a stranger arrives, digging into my past. Now, Stefan is determined to protect me, and I'm not complaining about the kisses. But when a family secret shakes me, I learn Stefan has a fire breathing secret of his own. Can I truly be the mate of a dragon?

Her Dragon Hero

He hates me … how can he be my fated mate?

I know I screwed up and should stay away from those I hurt, but I can't stop thinking about Jury. Despite hearing him say he hates me, I can't keep away when he finds me again. He's only interested because his inner dragon refuses to shift, not because he wants me. And with his reputation, I doubt one woman could satisfy him. But Jury is determined to win me over, showing he's ready to leave his party days behind and claim me as his mate. As danger looms, Jury promises to protect me. But am I ready to be the mate of a dragon?

Her Dragon Destiny

No guy is worth risking my heart until Maddox gets close …

Finding a partner as a single mom is tough, but then I met Madd. He's younger and not settled, but he makes me feel safe. However, the Black Claw dragons offer little privacy, and Maddox is considering finishing his law degree out of state. When we meet, he realizes I'm his fated mate and wants to make me his. But I don't know about dragons, and Madd worries if I'll accept both parts of him. Can he convince me that his heart beats only for me?

Her Dragon Rebel

Is he more than a spoiled playboy?

I'm the only female handyman in town, and I need people to take me seriously for my business to thrive. But the town's men won't listen.

4 stars**

The story revolves around alpha dragons who are discovering their fated mates, which have traditionally been human females. However, humans are unaware of the dragons' existence and do not feel a bond with them. Thus, dragons can only reveal themselves if they are certain that the woman is the one their fate intended for them.

As these women learn about the new world around them and what it means to be fated, the narrative becomes rich with tension. Each woman also grapples with her own personal challenges, and the dragons will do anything to keep their mates safe.

Emotions run high as the characters confront their circumstances, navigating conflicting feelings of fear, hope, and longing. The presence of strong alpha males adds another layer of complexity to the story.

Amid these challenges, there is an undercurrent of playful interactions. Overall, the narrative is a captivating blend of love, action, and adventure that keeps readers engaged from beginning to end.

Loved this series!!

I absolutely loved this series! It wasn't overdone sexual encounters but enough to keep it exciting, and of all the reactions from the mates, my favorite was Kara!! I'm only sad that the series is over. ❤️

Her Dragon Protector
 -Didn't read. Sue me.

Her Dragon Lover
 - Didn't read.

Her Dragon Hero
 - Was enjoying until she forgave him immediately every time he said something hurtful to her. Zero grovel because this FMC is so lonely she forgives before he's even apologized, in fact.
Spends more time showing the MMC searching for the fuckup MMC of a later story than it spends on the relationship of the MMCs of this story.

Her Dragon Destiny
 - MMC says a bunch of rude and stupid things (though honestly not as rude as the last MMC), and the FMC finally says 1 semi-rude thing back, and the the MMC and even the FMC's friends are shocked and offended at her. The MMC decides she's not who he thought she was, calls her a bitch in his head, and goes on about how sad it is that his dragon chose her as his mate. Then they fall in love literal days later. 😭
Got the ick in this one because multiple people in his family (all the MMCs of the previous stories) tell him that even though he's found his fated mate in the FMC, he should go and do what he needs to do to grow up and come back for her later. This is because he wants to be a lawyer and she's got a kid that would tie him down. His mother also worries because the kid would tie him down, despite knowing they're fated mates. So they all support him in planning to leave for a few years before going after her, but not before ensuring him that now that they've met, she would never find another man while he's gone because of the bond... Mind you, this woman has been dating because she wants a relationship with someone. And of course later in the book he's still feeling resentful that now that they've met he can't be with other other women either. 🙄
And to top it all off, the FMC completely overreacts when he reveals his dragon to her. Like girl please don't make me feel bad for a man.

Her Dragon Rebel
 - Oh the FMC is a woman in what is typically a man's field, so of course she's gotta be written as hyper-reactive to anyone possibly looking down on her for that or doubting her for that, but also to anyone trying to treat her like a gentleman would, like how dare the MMC (her assistant) try to open a door for her lmao. And of course literally everyone she interacts with in the story has an extreme opinion on her job or the way she dresses for it, making her reactions therefore valid. 🙄
She rightfully gets upset with the MMC for borderline sexist comments he makes at the beginning, but then moments later she's either treating him as completely inept or being shocked when he's actually competent at the most normal things, which is just as bad imo.
I had to laugh though because she was testing him to see if he watched the instruction videos she sent him so she tells him, "now, hand me the tape measure and pliers," and is shocked when he picks them out easily. Miss ma'am, those are the most basic ass tools in existence, anyone having previously worked in his uncle's garage would know what those things are. And also what the fuck are you using a tape measure for to fix a leak under a sink before you've even checked it out? If you want to measure a part, you have to know what part needs to be replaced lmao. Should have asked for a wrench.

Okay the wedding a la seven brides for seven brothers style actually got me. That was cute. And she quietly included his dragon in her vows 😭

Shout out to the dragons in the story though. They were all top tier mates, if only their human attachments hadn't been so dumb.

Fluff

I had hopes for this series. Truly. I had been on a “love the villain” with highly detailed world building, plot twists, and “why choose” with lots of naughty binge for over a year and wanted to try something different.

This was not it. After book 1, I thought maybe it was me. After book 2, I realized it’s not me. The plots were boring and/or nonexistent. The women are WEAK and just not very bright. I know they were trying to be written as strong, but it did not come across as anything other than weak. Also, I’m all for a strong male lead, but these men just fell flat. Zero personality, whether it was a main character or a side character. Add to that the whole “fated mates are so rare that what we have is special”, yet ALL 5 books center around shifters in the same area who ALL happen to find their fated was just nonsensical to me. Absolutely nothing made me think “I want to see what happens next”

Boring. No plot. Zero personality. Sad attempts at naughty with zero chemistry. No connection with character. No world or character building. Unrealistic men and women.

While I applaud the author for writing the entire series, as I know it’s no east feat, this just wasn’t for me.

I should start by saying I’ve read this entire series before, one book at a time. I was prompted to reread it by a book I read prior to this that was so like the first in this series I’m actually shocked there was no plagiarism lawsuit (it was Alpha’s Second Chance Mate by Sadie Sears, if you’re interested). Perhaps the authors don’t know about each other, I don’t know.

Anyway, I LOVE this series about the Black Claw dragons and their lives, loves and adventures. If you read all the books one after another, you might be irritated by the timeline messing up and ages of characters changing and minor past events not lining up accurately with what happened in previous books, but overall it’s unimportant - although it’s the reason there are only 4 stars for this review instead of 5. I fell for each and every MMC in the books, except for Stefan, who I liked but didn’t feel the same pull towards. Honestly, I wish Roxie Ray would write another book about Black Claw; perhaps one about Uncle Perry?

If you like dragon shifters, well written plots and characters not being able to avoid the pull of true love, I can’t recommend this series enough.

Black Claw Dragons is a fun, fast-paced shifter romance series that totally hits the spot if you’re craving protective dragon alphas, fierce heroines, and a good dose of supernatural drama.

Each book brings a new couple into the spotlight, and Roxie Ray does a great job balancing steamy romance with the overarching danger and pack dynamics. The worldbuilding is solid without getting too heavy, and the chemistry between the leads? Chef’s kiss. Expect fated mates, fiery passion, and plenty of twists that keep you turning the page.

It’s got a bit of everything—action, heat, loyalty, and found family vibes. Perfect for fans of paranormal romance who love dragon shifters with big hearts (and even bigger muscles).

The series is BRILLIANT with the exception of 1 book!

I can definitely tell there was more than 1 writer especially on book 5. SO MANY MISTAKES. CONTRADICTIONS LEFT AND RIGHT. Whomever wrote it should have at least READ the previous books. I was so waiting for that books storyline but was very disappointed. The writing was amazing, the actual content, not so much. There were a few things in the series storylines that left unfinished or unexplained Some of the problem may have been with me. I read the "Bluewater Dragons Series" first so I just assumed this series would be just as good. I advise readers to read Black Claw Series first! Overall, I loved the series!! A MUST READ!

Complete Black Claw series.

Each book is very good. They're well written. The books flow nicely. Mostly they're well edited but there's a spot in the last book where each client was mistakenly written as having the same name and that is something that should have been caught in the final draft by the proof reading editor if not before then.
I really liked that if you took the " supernatural " elements out there is still a very good story with believable situations and characters.
I especially liked that it was not " instant " love and each couple had issues to work through before they could commit to their relationship.
Each book is a complete stand alone book with no cliff hanger. I wish there was more humor in the books. It's a very enjoyable romance series.

Great box set but needs a little editing

These stories are amazing! But there is some editing that should be done. Nothing that will make you stop reading though so you should definitely read this. Just little things I found in Jury's book, like Hailey being Maverick's little sister but is actually his daughter and a few others. That being said, run and buy this now!

I love the way this author wrote each story and how they overcame their struggles. Her interesting take on the dragon shifters was new to me with how they were one person but yet not. The human had one name and the dragon another and it was wonderful to read this take on dragon shifters.

Beautifully written; excellent world building

This is a beautifully written, character-driven escape into a world in which you'll want to stay. Each individual book could stand alone, but they're delightfully interconnected, too, giving a continuity that ties each book together well. There's a warmth to the relationships between main characters and their supporting cast that will make you wish you were part of their clan -- even those who are struggling are just plain nice. As an editor, I did find a few missed errors, but they were minor and didn't particularly distract. I would highly recommend taking a walk in this world for a lovely lift to your day.

Black Claw Dragons

This was a complete series where the men in their dragon clan find their true mates. I liked some of the stories, but some I didn’t. Bethany can kick grass. Just had to say that. Although this romance series is pretty tame, it still showed a lot of love and passion. I love protective romance. There was also some mistakes in the writing. Names were wrong in some parts, and sometimes it felt rushed where some parts dragged on with unnecessary details. Over a nice paranormalish romance. Rate 2 on the spice.

This review is for the first two books only.

Book 1
Dragon Daddy
4 Stars
I really appreciated the fact he had a son he didn’t know about wasn’t dragged out for too long.

First love and unknown child while a typical trope was anything but that in this book. We get the typical male dumb decision to keep something from his mate to keep her safe and it backfires.

The book had a great storyline and characters.

Book 2
Dragon Protector
4 Stars

The storyline flowed well and the couple were very likable.

Great Stories

Great storylines and characters, but need some editing for inconsistencies. The one that bugged me the most was in Maddox and Beth’s story. Everyone, including his grandfather, referred to Jury as Maddox’s cousin instead of his uncle. Yes, he’s only a year older, but still his uncle. There were also the occasional name mix up. And while I really liked Rico’s story, I missed the involvement of the other characters. I was surprised Beth wasn’t in one scene with Kara, her supposed best friend.

The Black Claw Dragons tells all about the Kingston Family starting with HER DRAGON DADDY—Ava and Maverick; HER DRAGON PROTECTOR—Axel and Charlotte; HER DRAGON LOVER—Stefan and Harley; HER DRAGON HERO—Jury and Abby; HER DRAGON DESTINY—Maddox and Bethany; and HER DRAGON REBEL—Rico and Kara. This family is very protective of what is theirs and that can lead to lots of adventures. Sometimes not so good ones. But the way they show their love is phenomenal! So get ready for some fun and also frustration along the way. You will not be disappointed!

Trite and in need of a re-edit, but an amusing paranormal summer read

6 books in one Kindle Unlimited bundle that i tore through in 4 days. The editing is terrible in all of them. Sadly, all 6 had basically the same enemies-to-lovers, fated-mate, something-is-threatening-my-mate-and-they-must-die-so-I-can-protect-them tropes. I could get past all that, though -- it is a paranormal fantasy romance series, after all, so my expectations were low. But for a free book bundle that Facebook ads recommended, I'm not sad I read it. 2.5 stars.

Nice easy read for a rainy fall weekend

The first “book” almost put me off but it’s worth it to stick to it and continue with the interlocking stories. Decently written, just enough character development to be engaging without dragging the story down. Nice easy reading with a decidedly steamy romance element. So if you are looking for something on a rainy fall weekend this is an excellent pick. Happy reading

Such a great read! I read the bear shifters first and this is my second by Roxie Ray, I loved this and ended up really enjoying the characters and their mates! She did great with the details of the characters and getting the different personality and spunk of the women and shifters! Will be reading more of her books for sure! I enjoy reading the whole series as well and the have a great spice and romantic level too! Well done author!

What a special group of characters with their own stories and situations to conquer and get through to be able to realize their fate and love , I’m sure hoping Roxie Ray will find a way to add to this family’s adventures and lives in their dragon world

Not What I Expected

I love dragons so when this came across I decided to give it a read. Truly mesmerizing of each couple's story. The fact the Dragon picked the mate was astonishing. It had the perfect spice and great story lines. I highly recommend giving these books a try. So worth it.

Way too much graphic sex

This is the second group of books I’ve read from this author. I thought the stories were fairly compelling, but it seems that each book in this particular series gets more and more graphic. I’m not against all mention of sex, but these books are basically pornography. I got tired of flipping through the many sex scenes. I’m done.

The Clan

The Kingston family or Clan is one everyone wants to be a part of. Made me want my own dragon as well. Enjoyed reading about the women the dragon's fell in love with. My favorite dragon was Maddox, he actually made me want to know more about him.
Thank you Rosie Ray for sharing your book with me.

Dragons forever

A great series of books. I truly enjoyed each one individually and at the same time was excited for the next one. Now that I have finished the last one I have to confess to a surprise that there wasn’t another. This is one of those series that I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye to.

Wonderful family

These books are very much about a family - an extended, loving family! The hijinks that happen to each separate couple are engaging, loving and very sweet! If you are looking for this kind of relationships and you love dragon shifters, this is the series for you! Thanks, Roxie, for writing the series!

kinda repetitive but okay

It took me forever to read this. I kept getting sooooo bored! Each story was so similar and the women were so annoying! I just had to finish what I started though. The dragon shifter guys were okay but they just didn’t have enough fire and passion for my taste. And the ladies… yikes on bikes, I couldn’t stand them!

There's nothing like family

I always love shifter stories and these were all so good! Family means so much to all of them. Each book focused on a different family member and how they came to become mates. Some mystery or problem in each, but all quickly fixed for the happy ending. Loved all the stories.

Amazing and captivating

I truly don't know how this book ended up on my kindle but it was exactly what I needed to get out of reading slump. The characters were relatable and I loved each couple's story. I could say by the end of almost each book I figured out who the next mates would be but a couple times I was surprised.

So out of the 6 stories in comparison to the bear shifter series..(read the bears first instead of Dragons, thankfully, doesn't ruin anything). the 1st felt to similar to the other story... that being said I enjoyed it for what it was itself... 2 stories did make me almost DNF but the last one, for me personally brought it back especially the Princess Bride line lol
