A woman finds herself alone in the middle of an overgrown park in a town she doesn’t recognize. Finding the one occupied house in this dead world, she discovers a bitter, cautious man who will offer her something to eat, but no more. As the two sit down at the table, truths are revealed, old wounds reopened and past sins are paid up.

After the explosive finale to the previous installment, “Despair”, what could possibly come next in horror author C. Dennis Moore’s dark fantasy Aftermath series? Only by telling a slow, somber story in close quarters with stakes this high can anything possibly compare.

Emotions run high in this 3400-word story, setting the stage for the conclusion of this epic tale, and asking the question, When does love become a sin?

To date I'd only read Moore's Invasion Agents serial, then I found this. I have to admit this serial has me hooked. Well written & thought-provoking. I look forward to the next episode and can't wait to read it.
