The Poor Little Waif

This is a very short fiction children's story about a poor little orphan girl who befriends a lost puppy. It begins to snow. She and the puppy are very hungry and cold. She finds some food, gives it to the puppy, and gets only a few crumbs for herself. She is happy that the puppy looks stronger. The puppy saves her from being killed by a speeding car. She and the puppy go to a vacant lot to sleep.
