This was nice, short read. I thought the lack of really seeing the backstory of these two characters sort of hindered things. Like others have said, it almost feels too short for what this book wants to be. If we're gonna touch on more taboo subjects and topics and really bite down into a D/s dynamic, we need a bit more meat to the story. I felt as though things moved too quickly and the time skip we got really hindered the progression of the story. We didn't see any of the struggles that came with the journey our characters were on. I really wish this book would've taken that time to dive into a nonsexual D/s dynamic - that would've been very interesting to look at but we skipped over that to get to the sexual aspects again. Which, is fine. It's an erotica novella. I get it. It just would've been an interesting route to take instead of just skipping back over things. I also agree that our characters seemed pretty whiny and immature throughout the book which was a bit irritating.
Well written, full of drugs, lies, booze, steam, spankings and emotions. Sadie's life has hit the bottom of the barrel. She's dancing at a club and trading whatever to get her needs satisfied. Elijah is a Dom who runs a successful business. He feels Sadie lied to him and broke up with her. After seeing her dance, he now wants to help her again. Together they work to make it better until he demands the truth and she tells him. Now he has to figure out what really is the truth. Keeps you wanting more. Would recommend to others.

This book was okay. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t good it just was. I liked the characters but their story felt a little too rushed. I know that this was a short book but it was almost too short for me. This also read a little more taboo than small town romance. It was a D/s scenario which is fine but felt more like father issues than “sexy daddy”. The spicy scenes were written well and left me wanting more. Overall I would recommend this for someone looking for a short spicy taboo-ish romance.
What a great book! I started and finished the book in one day. The storyline grabbed my attention and held it throughout the book. The characters (Elijah and Sadie) are well developed and have a great connection. I was cheering them on to get through the hard times. I don't want to spoil this book for anyone so I won't go into details. The book blurb provides a good amount of information about the book. I recommend reading this book. I hope you enjoy it!
Interesting book. Sadie has hit bottom and runs into her ex, who broke up with her the year before. As her Dom she lied to him, so he was done. Fast forward a year and they see each other. He pulls her up from the bottom and the "lie" from the year before is revealed. Interesting short read. I totally enjoyed this book.
i love that we got Elijah's story. after reading fighter i needed to know about him and Sadie. i did not expect Sadie to be in such a bad way. it hinted at her drug problems in the fighter but she was gone in this one. luckily Elijah finds her and helps her in the only way he knows how. again this book was very short but oh so good and i loved that Jacob and his girl make appearances
I personally feel some of the tropes that were promised here fell flat. And that we started in the middle of a story.
Sadie was once in a relationship with Elijah but due to her withholding the truth, they broke up. Now a year later, her life has spiraled out of control and she bumped into him at her job. only to lose her job later for her side work and disagreeing with a customer. Elijah had rules if they were going to be together again and Saide did her best to follow them until Elijah demanded the truth of what happened a year ago. And he doesn't like the truth when he hears it.
Elijah and Sadie get their happy ending in this standalone novella.
It was never established how old these characters were but they were really whiny and almost seemed just out of college. Or there was a bit of an age gap between the two main characters as well as the MMC and his brother. I do wonder if the result would have been the same if Sadie told Elijah the truth at the beginning, or if it would have saved her from a second spiral.
