Madness. Magic. Malice. That is my life now. And it’s about to ruin us all.
The madman has risen. Constantine Vale is a monster beyond all others. He’s got his sights set on us. He calls us his heirs. Cursed, is what we are.
We’re forced into a war we’d been trying to prevent. His manipulations haunt us. But that’s the least of it when other secrets come to light. After how far we’ve come together, it might all be for nothing now. It might break us into pieces.
Leia writes edgy and emotional stories in Dark Reverse Harem Romance. She enjoys crafting flawed heroes with a dark side and strong women who hold their own.
While I know some people may have found this book to be exciting, I absolutely hated it. No matter what excuse was given for how Alena left, or what the excuse was for her being sexually intimate with Constantine, I can't accept it as ok. Mind you, I am not triggered by rape scenes. However, I also don't want details about the rape. In this book the author makes you believe Alena is allowing it of her own free will. Later you find out that Constantine's black magic manipulated her. What really bothered me though was that Alena couldn't get out of any of the situations. She's supposedly this powerful being, but couldn't do anything? Then, in the ending to this craziness, Abigail says that only an angel's magic can get rid of black magic? Why the hell couldn't Alena do anything then? It makes absolutely no sense. Anyway, I really struggled to get through this book. I DO like the plot, but I don't see why any of the rape stuff had to happen. It made the story drag out as she dealt with the emotional side of being raped (not to be taken as me not understanding that rape is traumatic). I just felt like the story shouldn't have gone that direction because it added nothing to the story except assuring us that Constantine is truly evil.
By the way, this is a personal opinion and I'm not saying the writing itself was bad. It wasn't. I just didn't care for the direction this book took and barely made it through it.
DNF at 39% I really hate rhis book, I usually try tô finish a series to see if it gets better but this one Washington terrible. A lot of scenes just to shock the reader.
DNF - I wasn’t sure if I would continue the series after the first book. It was okay but not something I felt I NEEDED to finish. The thing with the professor just gave me the ick. Then this one with the r*pey vibes with Constantine. Decided not to continue with the book or finishing the series.
I can not express how I am feeling right now...this book has me in a chokehold. I thought I knew what was happening but I was wrong and now I feel broken. This had all the emotions. For me this felt freeing, I know it might sound weird to most but this book is DARK, DARK and I feel like it freed some of my own darkness that I don't like to talk about. The way Leia wrote each scene, each character and many other attributes to this story had me feeling vindicated. Speechless is more like it.
Alena has gone through so much in this and I feel for her deeply. But seeing her strength is giving me strength to move on from my own trauma. (You have to read this to understand) Best female character of hers yet.
Xavier, oh my heart. He is so swoony worthy but so tragic. I was balling my eyes out at that certain moment. So worth it and seeing how he comes out stronger than ever way just wow. Love him.
Orpheus, he is to perfect for his own good. The way he moves his strategies and plans around flawlessly is mesmerizing. I would stand by his side willingly. He is worth it.
Talon, oh my sweet Talon. He is stronger than what he thinks he is. I would never abandon him. I just want to snuggle him. Best Phoenix character ever, hands down.
If you like dark paranormal romance with twist and turns and add on 3 hot has sin morally grey men and stronger than she thinks female lead than this is the book for you.
Highly recommend this book series and the author!!
Honestly still a great series but I didn’t like how unresolved the issue was with Orpheus and Cornwell. Yeah, Alena beat him back when he was trying yet again but I would have been pissed at Orpheus too for continuing when they should have been exclusive at this point. As well, why wasn’t there any remorse from Xavier for breaking up with Alena. I know he was going through a dark time but seriously not even an I’m sorry for breaking up with you, you know I didn’t mean it in that state?! Maybe I’m being hypercritical…

I was enjoying this series until the unnecessary detailed non consensual abuse came into it. There is dark fantasy and then there are some who throw everything but the kitchen sink into a story believing that is what the reader wants. Perhaps some do but it is not for me.
I gave 3 stars for the quality of writing and story building because this had the potential to be an amazing story. I took 1 off for the non consensual abuse and 1 off for my disappointment at not being able to complete the series because of that.
I will admit that I liked this book less than the first. That was probably because it felt over top or dragged out more than necessary. The number of times the characters did something or were forced to do something was mind-boggling. I said, "Don't do that," a lot. Anyway, it was still pretty great. I love our characters and the magical world so much. I'm overly ready for them to finally kick some trash and be done with this never dying cockroach.
When I say choke hold I mean it in all ways!! The fmc is so strong given the challenges she’s had to face them boys of hers definitely give her a whirlwind, the way this book had me all over the place with what’s going to happen next to I hate you for putting me through this all good of course I had gotten to the point where I had forgotten the real world existed! I wanna go back! Can’t wait for the next book and I am deeply honored to be apart of her arc team as well 💜💜
Very graphic! I cannot be easily shocked or put off but some of the content was just plain gross and seemingly for shock value only. I've read plenty of books with lots of different trigger warnings, but this one definitely needs them!! I'll finish the series because I've started it, but I'm not loving it and don't recommend if you are easily grossed out.
Couldn’t put it down! Lots of action and suspense, with the odd bit of spice thrown in, this is one book you won’t want to finish. Can’t wait for the final book!
WOW just imagine having to go thru what these guys did. A love that you hold dear can conquer all except loss. This book shows the trials and tribulations of the characters and what it cost them.
Alright so this is a dark book and I know there have been comments about the non consensual acts which were a bit of an unwelcome part. However, more character development, more world building and a total cliffhanger has me hooked.
I love these characters! They are all so perfect! There are some twists i did not see coming in this one. And some sad points as well. Ready for book 3 now!
Read my book review of Leia King’s Wicked Heirs, book two in the Electi Academy. This is a reverse harem paranormal romance, with Nephilim, Fae, Phoenix, and a Vampire Sorcerer hybrid.
