He was my nightmare…

From the moment we met, Jackson Champion made my life a living hell. He was my enemy, tormentor, and the source of my greatest anxiety. I thought I’d gotten away from him, but he found me and now he has me where he wants me. He wants to become the one thing I must my lover.

She was my dream come true…

From the second I laid eyes on her sweet curves, I was determined to make Zora Knight mine. Just the thought of her being with anyone else filled me with a burning rage. I would do anything to have her, even if it meant destroying everything around her in the process. No matter where she goes or whom she runs to, I intend to be her endgame.

When being excited to read a book goes wrong and so now you hate this book and don’t want to think about it ever again.

Reading this was a bit… difficult yet that didn’t stop me from trying to finish it. Anyway, I don’t have much else to say about the book and the characters are average. I felt nothing for them. This author definitely needs to go over this book since there are lots of grammatical errors. I had to reread what the fuck I was even trying to piece together.

2.5 rounded up.

A final edit would have made a world of difference! There were a lot of grammatical/style edits, some which made the sentences hard to understand. Also, a good edit could have improved the pacing; I skimmed a big chunk of the beginning and middle. The plot didn't really kick in until the final 30 percent.

All that said, the story itself reminded me of the recently closed Harlequin Desire line, which was my favorite Harlequin line. So, brownie points for that.

Also, the cover is kinda cringe. Half-naked torso covers aren't my thing, but this one — some headless dude flashing his titty — seems extra silly.

good

I gave it 3 stars, because Jackson’s aggression was ridiculous. I thought he would physically abuse Zora. I see what his problem is, his mother is a piece of work.

Eve Vaughn is an author I've been reading from for over a decade but her last fee books have not been hitting for me. This newest one being no different. The book had promise in the beginning but quickly fell apart after the time skip. The issues I had is 1. The book is too short. It's 190 pages. It should've been longer by another 100 pages then it would've felt like a fleshed out story. 2. The many grammatical and punctuation errors.

Eve has been writing too long to not have an editor at this point in her career. 3. The insecure fat girl trope. I don't know how many times readers have to say we're sick of seeing bigger women written hating their bodies. Yes, a lot of women have insecurities about the way they look but there are also many women who embrace their curves. The cliche insecure big girl trope does nothing but reinforce negative stereotypes that all big women hate themselves. Enough already! Also Zora was too damn weepy for me. To each their own but I can't stand a crybaby FMC. Suck that shit up and handle business.

It might be time for me to take a break from this author because her last few releases have been lackluster as hell. This book could've been great if she made it longer and fleshed out the relationship between Jackson and Zora more. Alas, she didn't and the book suffered because of that.

Typical plot line of I always wanted you but couldn’t have you and a little bully romance thrown in for a fresh approach. As is this author’s talent, we get a very jealous hero in Jackson who’s obsessed with his full-figured girl. Mine mine mine.

Zara is sweet but strong while Jackson is clearly obsessed with Zora but not a jerk.

A hint of a slow burn but fast read , great pace. The plot wasn’t necessarily innovative — blackmail due to a debt owed — but an overall enjoyable read. It was very obvious Jackson loved Zara. I really liked the creative twist of young adult bully plot and thought that could have been explored more for a fuller read. Also, it would have been in line with other storylines and the dub con had Jackson claimed her first.

Lots of editing errors, which were a little distracting, and I am not a fan of my a holes apologizing or third-act break ups. Still, those who like a possessive, adoring guy who apologizes and works on his faults will like this one. I am a true unapologetic, anti-hero fan of very dark romance, but Jackson is a hero contemporary romance readers would like. A very happy ending.

Enjoyed!

I enjoyed the storyline and the main two characters. Langston was a selfish Bastard and Jackson mother was no better. I couldn't connect with the word baby doll. I got this book as an ARC for my honest review. The title of this book is the right word for Jackson.

Conflicting thoughts.
In the beginning, Jackson genuinely acted like a villain. In HS, he caused her to be a social pariah by threatening any male who got near her. His added attention made his horrible, racist friend group pick on her. I get he did it to save her from his mom but if he just completely ignored her, her experience wouldn't have been as bad.
He was ridiculously jealous(as we see from the title). His way of letting out his anger caused her to lower her self-esteem.
The writing in the beginning genuinely read like it came out of a low budget coming of age film filled with clichés.

The tone got better as the story progressed but still...

I'd say about 75% of the spicy scenes in this book entailed dubious consent. The "I'm saying no but my body is saying yes". At times, she held genuine fear that he'd hurt her so I can definitely see this book being triggering.

Overall, you could tell he loved her. He shed actually tears for her when he thought she slept with another man. Even when he was not in her life, he still had a PI on her. He made all her bf's leave her when he thought things were getting serious. He made sure he was the one she came for help with her while brother issue.

3 stars because I was still entertained.

something else to note: lots of grammatical errors, needs heavy editing but you are still able to understand.

Unfinished

Okay, I am going to dump on this book. This has a very promising storyline, but the book was published before it was polished into the story it could be. There are so many errors. Simply errors that just reading through the book once could have easily been seen and fixed. The story was rushed in so many places, and in others parts, we only go surface storytelling instead of a flushed out mechanism to move the story forward. I felt like I was reading one of those series you find on an app instead of a book. Characters are introduced for a moment , and then they are never developed, and it makes little sense to why they were introduced other than to move the plot forward. The villains in the story are one - or two-dimensional and they feel trite.

The reader has a great outline but failed to deliver, and I am annoyed and disappointed because I really wanted to fall into this story. The writer could be great if only they put more effort into writing a better story. I do not get to read about as many plus-size or lead black female leads in stories as I like to, so it really makes me sad the story was so unfinished and flawed.

Please do better because I really want to be able to enjoy the journey your stories could take me.

Jealousy started off interesting until it just became repetitive and unnecessarily long (ikk despite it being a short story). I started to feel sorry for Zora until I couldn’t because after a while when she got older and had the opportunity to confront Jackson, instead of acting like a therapist and being calm she was always being ungrateful for his help.

Yes it was all Jackson’s fault but they worked through their differences and he was able to get help, but I felt it was a little too late. It would’ve been nice to see him change earlier in the story when there wasn’t like 10 pages left. Towards the end it just felt rushed and the time lapses didn’t help, because I was left wondering how we got here, cause it was too weird. Jackson went to therapy for his obsession and anger and even though there was a drastic change, Zora needed help herself, but I digress.

It was an easy-ish read if you don’t mind the constant repetition but in the end I understand why Jackson did what he did, but he could’ve explained himself sooner.

I absolutely loved this book! I have been searching a while for a book that will draw me in with angst and a love/hate relationship! I must say Eve checked every box and left me wanting nothing. Reading thru Jackson and Zora’s journey was a wild ride of angst, miscommunication, love, hate and especially jealousy. If these tropes are on your list I definitely recommend it, you won’t be disappointed!

Editing issues made a solid story, meh.

I like the story but there could have been more character development. It seemed a little rushed. The editing errors were a serious issue.

Entertaining read but...

First off, I want to express my appreciation for books featuring dark-skinned women. I also enjoy this author’s work because they know how to craft angsty and engaging scenes.

The steamy moments in the book were indeed steamy (the dubcon ones). However, the author could have provided a more convincing motivation for the female main character (FMC) to agree to sleep with the male main character (MMC). Instead of a lukewarm diatribe, a stronger rationale would have enhanced the story. In addition, phrases like "my body betrays me" or "traitorous kitty" do not adequately justify a reason to ignore the MMC toxic behavior. And besides the FMC could have explored various avenues to help her father out of financial trouble, but she seemed to give up too easily. Nevertheless, the intensity of the intimate scenes was enough for me to overlook her lack of proactive solutions.

Another thing I noticed is a recurring pattern in the author's books: the FMC's lack of backbone when it comes to family members who are in the wrong (or try to do the right thing kn the detriment of the lead), as well as the toxic traits exhibited by the male lead. The characters' portrayals often did not align with their actions, and there was a general lack of research and explanation regarding jobs/careers and socioeconomic hierarchies. Inconsistencies were also present; for example, Lea had twins, yet they were referred to as Jason and Katherine (the MMC's mother's hair color). Also, the expository dialogue and narration were excessive, with repeated mentions of how Lea met Buck and their relationship.

Speaking of Lea, the FMC's best friend, came across as unsupportive, making their friendship feel unrealistic and toxic. The MMC's best friend, Gavin, also trivialized serious issues like murder and physical assault, which felt dismissive. The FMC's father, after hearing about the MMC's actions, described them as typical of people in love, perpetuating a "boys will be boys" mentality. The supporting characters were largely one-dimensional and seemed to exist solely to downplay the MMC's actions and frame them as romantic.

While I enjoy dark and bully romances, this one didn’t meet all the criteria and left me feeling more annoyed than invested in the love story between Zora and Jackson. Especially, the lack luster climax.

Despite these issues, I persevered through the narrative. But the typos, formatting problems, and grammatical errors after the third/fourth chapters made it very difficult. Every page contained errors, which disrupted the reading flow.

But despite all of this it was an entertaining read that I binged in less than 24 hours. Because like I mentioned I love a book with a dark-skinned FMC and will always give them a read.

What a rollercoaster this has been. I literally had the biggest belly laughs reading this book. It was just too funny. And not in the sense that there were that many jokes in it, but that it was so over the top I had to laugh. The bullies and antagonists are so cartoonishly evil sometimes I was literally crying laughing.

The book is not that good, but i had such a fun time reading it, I couldn’t rate it any lower. Jackson is kind of a pos, but he did redeem himself in the end so I’m willing to forgive A LOT of the VERY questionable and borderline abusive things this man did. Zora is freaking hilarious, like her dialogue would always crack me up. I definitely like that she made Jackson work for her forgiveness cause that man needed some serious psycho help. Overall just a silly fun read I read in a day, and had a blast.

**SPOILERS**

Some dialogue gems I loved that had me belly laughing:

😂“Because her head is so far up Jackson’s ass she probably knows when he has to take a shit even before he does.”

🥲“I can’t believe she found a dress big enough to fit her. She looks like a big mustard stain.”

🤣 “When I tell you to strip and climb on my dick, you’d better ride me like you’re trying to win the Kentucky Derby.”

💀“Funny you mention my ass when your son loves eating it. Since he never visits you, I’ll make sure to send your regards the next time I’m sitting on his face.”

“You disgusting cow!” She screams, completely red-faced.

“Moooo.” “I push past her forcefully knocking her aside with my shoulder.”

Jackson Champion makes high school hell for Zora Knight. Their encounter at his high school graduation party leaves an indelible mark on her life. When they meet 12 years later, it's because of Jackson's machinations in Zora's life. Jackson offers a way to help Zora and her father and when Zora realizes she's out of options, she agrees to Jackson's terms. Things don't go as planned and their past is an ongoing issue that Zora finds difficult to get past. When a crisis of conscious hits, they both have to examine the past to determine if they can get to the other side to happiness—together. Highly Recommended: Read It!

SIDEBAR
: I'm an Eve Vaughn fan and have read most of her stories which are always highly entertaining. She is a great storyteller BUT I've never read an error-free story from this author. Her storytelling is too good for the continual errors that could easily be caught if she would let a friend, a family member or a professional read it. One major gaffe was forgetting that Zora's best friend Lea had three kids, not two. Overall, these errors did distract from this story when I found myself having to read a sentence more than once. Still, I highly recommend reading her books because Eve Vaughn always delivers a good story.

A Great Read!

When Zora Knight last saw Jackson Champion, it was graduation night. What should have been a night to remember quickly became a night she’d unsuccessfully tried to put behind her for more than one reason.
Fast forward twelve years later and though inwardly scarred by events of the past Zora is now a therapist, determined to make a life free from the town of Champion and her handsome bully. But he's back, still as handsome as ever, larger than life and making her an offer she couldn't refuse. Why her? Why now and more importantly, why not?
Jealousy was a tense, erotic and sometimes harrowing read that had me reading till the early hours of the morning and I relished every bit of it.
I liked that Zora was feisty and a fighter that gave as good as she got even when she came up against the likes of the filthy rich Jackson and his groupies. As for Jackson, even though he behaved like a complete lunatic at times I could see that he had a heart and that there was a method to his madness. Intimate scenes throughout the book were detailed and scorching hot and actually very fitting for this couple.
I absolutely enjoyed this book and would recommend it as a satisfying read.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

3.25 Stars. (BW/WM). Kindle Edition $3.99/200 page eBook.
SETTING: Contemporary Virginia, New York and California.
TROPE: Bullying. Secret desire. Distrust to love. Obsession. Shaming body type.
MAIN CHARACTERS:
1. Zora Knight, female lead, is ashamed of her size but is smart and earns a doctorate in psychology.
2. Jackson Champion, male lead, is a handsome, popular rich kid determined to achieve prosperity without his family's money. He is the CEO of a lucrative business that exceeds his family's wealth.
3. Gavin Choi is Jackson's best friend who later becomes the COO of the business he and Jackson start.
4. Langston Knight is Zora's gambling addicted munching brother.
5. Lea is Zora's only friend.
6. Owen is Zora's boss.

There grammatical errors in this book but they weren't as noticeable because I listened to it being read by Seri. I enjoyed the storyline. I liked Jackson. He is a rambunctious hot headed character with impulse control issues but he is also driven, consistent, kind, and and caring. He didn't bully Zora he did touch her without consent . Zora blames her phobia about her body on Jackson but I think that came from her view of beauty and what she thought of as attractive. I was pleased with their road to their HEA.

DNF at 19%. Reasons I did not finish, are listed below.

This book needs editing!!
Also there is a time jump from chapter 5. But it's not noted in the chapter header. Time period isn't indicated at all. You just have to continue reading to find out. 🤷‍♀️ Chapter 4 was high school graduation night then chapter 5 she's a professional. (Counsellor or Psychiatrist) 🤷‍♀️

Secondly, this book needs a Trigger Warning included or at least incl a link to one.

It mentions bullying, has attempted SA by hero, violence, racism from secondary character, body shaming. I only finished up to beginning of Chapter 5, so there'd be a few other triggers.

About this book:
Interracial Romance with dark themes. (heroine - BIPOC) / hero is a rich Jealous asshole who had a long history of bullying the heroine & has secretly crushed on the heroine for years.

Great read

Now let me say in real life this is not a couple I would root for because he was so toxic! But in this story I loved every bit of it! Jackson and Zora are in high school together but he is one of her many bullies. She is just a regular girl and he is from the family that town is named after so they lead very different lives. Fast forward 12 years after graduation and they’ve run in too each other again. The rest of the story is amazing! I will say there quite a few grammatical errors. They weren’t huge it was more like a word missing here or the wrong word used there. It didn’t take away from the story though so if you like Eve Vaughn books or aggressive jealous men then you will love this book!

Jealousy!!! GREAT STORY ❤️🔥

Eve Vaughn killed it with Jealousy! There are characters that even I wanted to fight in the story. I couldn't get enough of this storyline or characters. Jackson and Zora had me cheering them on. I vested in this book from start to finish. Jackson's mom was loony, just cruel and she mentally abused him! I loved that there so many examples of jealousy throughout the story with different characters. It's a sickness. I ❤️ Jackson and Zora. It's really thought-provoking. Check it out . Ty Eve Vaughn

I've read a few and own a few of this authors books from back when IR was rare and pretty much only printed (tradeback), so I was excited to be able to read this Kindle Unlimited offering. If I remember correctly, the writing style was steamy, intense and a little edgy. I was fully engaged in Jealously, made it to Chapter 23 out of 27, didn't finish this chapter, it crossed the line for me. Yes this is fiction, this romantic killjoy has no rebound even if this is considered to have dark/edgy elements, just my personal opinion.

Snagged my heart

The female lead is fast like me. Not a brick house. Instead, a woman with a stomach that hangs over. When I read that detail, I was won over. Without that detail, this is still a great book. Yet I connected with Zora. Jackson is a lovable mess. You see where his chaos comes from. I also loved that he got therapy. He worked on himself to be a better man for Zora. His obsession did not change. It just got healthy. The passion between the two is hot. The only negative is the need for re-editing.

good, but…

The story was great. It may seem strange but I like the main characters did not cuss every other word like many alphahole books do. Definitely made the book more palatable because when there was cussing it added to what was going on. The cussing wasn’t meaningless or excessive. After a while the typos started to get on my nerves, but the story was strong enough that I did not down grade the rating.

A different type of twisted bully love story but I liked that everything is not what it seems, and it is more of a traditional love story then you think. Jackson is super intense, but his heart is in the right place he just does not know how to express himself and it is funny how he and Zora have a completely different view of their strange past and love story. I enjoyed this but it is dark -may not be for everyone.

Remembering the past

Zora can't seem to get over how she was treated in high school. Jackson can't forget how seeing her everyday at school made him feel. Fast forward and their paths cross. Is it by chance or planned? Read it to find out how the author spins their story. Enjoy.

Another great book from Eve Vaughn

I loved this book. The storyline and the characters. It’s really 5* but it dropped a star due to too many grammatical errors e.g Lea had twin boys and a little girl but later on in the book it was one boy and one girl. If not for these errors it would have been 5* but still worth a read.

So much potential…..

I first want to say that I am a huge Eve Vaughn fan. I completely enjoyed this book, but the amount of typos, spelling, repetition…. It took away from the flow of the story. Hopefully some much needed editing gets done. But other than that I enjoyed reading about Zora and “Jealous Jackson” story lol.

Cute

Awww I'm a suckered for a adorable love story. Especially when the main characters are likable. I loved the dad he was a sweetheart and was a great father to his kids. That mother of Jackson's was something else, wasn't she?!?! Mmmmh child. Over all great read. I have read a book yet of Vaughn I didn't enjoy.

good read

I enjoyed returning to this author. She writes a nice story with just enough angst and sensation. A few typos that can throw the story off but all and all enjoyable read.
