Very Sweet!
Fred’s world is turned upside down when she has to deal with the arrival of PR executive, Ruby, on her development and construction project. Despite their personal clash, a chemistry between them leads to undeniable attraction, but working together makes it tricky to navigate, especially when things don’t go to plan.
Such a great story, packed with drama, lots of tension, and a ton of emotion. Ruby was already sceptical about her assignment, and I don’t think Fred’s initial frostiness at her being on site helped, but when they developed an understanding and started working together it allowed them to explore feelings further. There attraction to one another seemed to take them both by surprise, but I loved how well they got on, when they were so very different. Ruby really tried hard to respect the safety of the site and follow Fred’s rules, but I felt for her so much, as when her colleagues had ideas or visited, no matter how hard she tried, they didn’t have that respect and it was often Ruby who took the brunt of Fred’s annoyance at the actions.
When they weren’t on site, and they started exploring the history of families who had lived there in the past, they really got a chance to connect. Fred and Ruby got to see real sides to one another, rather than professional personas and they clicked. I was so happy for them, and loved each and every moment they had after that, even those laced with tension. When things took a much unexpected turn though, and Fred got hurt, my heart broke for them and I worried they’d lost everything they’d worked for. I tried to have hope, and willed Ruby to try harder to get her side of things across to Fred and hopefully get back on track.
I loved this! They were joined by a whole cast of different characters, some who really infuriated me and I hoped Ruby and Fred wouldn’t allow them to have an effect on their future together. A great romance, that was most enjoyable, and something a little bit different.
