Louise Simonson (born Mary Louise Alexander and formerly credited as Louise Jones, when married to artist Jeff Jones) is an American comic book writer and editor. She is best known for her work on comic book titles such as Power Pack, X-Factor, New Mutants, Superman, and Steel. She is sometimes referred to by the nickname "Weezie".

Since 1980 she is married to comic book writer and artist Walter Simonson

This book collects the last part of Chris Claremont’s run on The New Mutants before he handed the reigns over to Louise Simonson and the New Mutants-adjacent Fallen Angels limited series, which I’ve been wanting to read for years as I just couldn’t find it here in the UK back in the day.

Re-reading the New Mutants stuff was great; a really nice trip down memory lane. The Fallen Angels mini was pretty good too but I did find it started to drag a little towards the end (six issues would have been a better length than eight) and it suffered a bit from constantly changing artists.

I didn't find myself really drawn to this book, though it wasn't bad either. I thought the stuff with warlocks dad was cool, but honestly everything else felt fairly forgettable.

The first arc handles multiple plot lines of Magus, alternate futures, Illyanas limbo takeover and Charles in space. Too much was cramped together and these alternate futures stories took the hit of it all. The futures and older versions of the characters weren't that interesting, but all the rest was pretty good (always found Magus annoying tho).

A really great Alan Davis Annual follows, very witty and fun.

Fallen angels is stupid and can be skipped if you're not feeling it.

And the last two Claremont new Mutants issues are great. Too bad New Mutants War Children wasn't included because it looks great (it is included in the omnibus).

Overall solid arc!!
Seeing the alt futures was fun, and all the magik stuff was a treat (as always).

Skipped fallen angels and annual 3, because i wanted to :P
