Meet Chantal Morgan, femme fatale of all industry chicks and arch nemesis of Tyler Blake, in this scintillating sequel to Dirty Little Secrets
Tyler Blake is off to Hollywood, the newest starlet of Tinsel Town, with a wonderful man by her side. Unfortunately that man is married, and she once again crosses paths with controlling T-Roc. When Tyler thinks her life can't get any more complicated, she falls in love with Andre Jackson. He has it all--money, fame, movie star looks, and the bad boy reputation that Tyler vowed to avoid. But more than that, Andre has Chantal Morgan, long term girlfriend and mother of his child, who is determined to go from hooker to housewife. Has Tyler finally met her match?
The saga just keeps getting better. In this book we are introduce to Chantal Morgan, the video vixen/baby mama. This chick was beyond scandalous. She was beautiful and wasn't above using what she had to get what she wanted. What she didn't count on was the competition. Tyler Blake is back and she is a rising movie star. She has matured, since the first book. She moved to Hollywood with her married director/boyfriend and is currently working on her first starring role. Andre is Chantal's baby's daddy and the object of her obsession. He's a playboy with no intentions of making Chantal his wife. He is knocked off his feet when he first meets Tyler. They try to avoid the mutual attraction, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Andre and Tyler fall in love and decide they want to get married, but Chantal, William and T-Roc have other plans. The measures that Chantal and T-Roc stoop to in order to keep them apart will have you shaking your head, but ultimately she gets what she wants or so she thinks. With everybody conspiring to keep them apart, Tyler and Andre break up. In a fit of anger Andre proposes to Chantal, but comes to his senses and leaves her at the altar. Chantal has a black out moment, when she sees Andre and Tyler together right after being jilted. In a midst of her blackout/fit of rage moment, Chantal resorts to deadly measures. I was glued to this book until I finished it. It was drama packed.
This book was really 2.5 stars for me. Chantal is a self absorbed gold digger who has a child with hip hop mogul Andre. She doesn't do anything but spend his money and party. She also turns a blind eye to his constant cheating. They delve a little into her past/childhood. The book opens when she is 17. But, Andre's youth is more explored. Andre films a movie and (very quickly) falls on love with starlet Tyler. Scheming, and plotting ensues. None of the characters had much depth. None of them were likable. So you don't care what happens. Chantal is absolutely pathetic. The ending is open. Leaving room for a sequel. I would read it if the characters had more substance the next go around. It was nothing if not entertaining though.
The synopsis makes it sound like this book will be about Tyler Blake, but it seemed so much more about Chantal Morgan. It's a short book, so there really wasn't much time to get to know the characters, other than gold digging, Chantal; and Andre the hip hop player. The ending was one of the scenarios I had expected, but it would've been better if there were more depth to it. I'm not a big fan of open-endings.
I'm torn on this one. It was kind of a 3.5 for me, but mostly because the synopsis makes it seem like the book is about Tyler, when it really is more about Chantal. I was interested the entire read, but that ending left me annoyed. Anyway, I liked the author's writing style but this book was missing some things for me to give it any more stars.
This isn't my typical genre, but I've taken a new role and in order to do adequate readers advisory, I gotta read what the people want. This wasn't bad actually. I actually found myself rooting for our unlikable main character, Chantal at some parts and being enraged at her at others.
Didn’t like the protagonist. Her mindset was too childish for me to care about what happened. The narrative was painfully annoying. I usually love books by this author but this one wasn’t for me
I read this before Dirty Little Secrets- not so sure why I do that all the time, it may be just my lack of a good memory but it's something done on the regular with me. This can be read alone though- I didn't feel at all like I was missing anything and if there were any references to DLS then I missed them. I don't think I did. The first few pages occur when Chantal was living at home with her parents and I got a good enough, although slight, glimpse of them that I wanted more but they were never mentioned again. We hear about Andre's parents but not Chantal's. I think a great part of the book could have been the relationship Chantal has with her mom and dad after leaving- after all, her lifesytle choice isn't exactly something a parent wishes for her daughter. The book really got going for me a little more than halfway through- that's not to say the first half is bad though- just that the second half has much more going on. I think the ending was rushed- almost like the time ran out or something. It's left open for a third book but we all could have guessed that one right? Basically, Chantal thinks she's above the entire world and only the biggest man on top will do to fulfill her dreams...of being a rich mans wife. She sets her sights on someone, lures him in, and is strung along with getting wifed. Along the way major and minor things happen and that's what takes this book on the ride IMO. I'm going to read DLS but not right now. One other thing, the description seems to portray that Tyler Black is the main character- she's not. She's a fairly large character in the second half of the book but that's it. I don't remember her being mentioned in the first half. Whoever put the description together could have done a much better job by concentrating on Chantal and Andre with a little droplet of Tyler to bring up some mystery.

"Hooker to Housewife" introduces Chantal Morgan, long term girlfriend and baby momma of Andre Jackson. Andre is a talented musician and has it all. Chantal did what most people thought was impossible; she used her body to get her to the top and landed Andre. But after five years, all she got was a ring with nothing behind it.
Tyler Blake is getting her big break in Hollywood and it's all thanks to her new, older, married director boyfriend. Trying to find her leading man for the movie, she ends up crossing paths with T-Roc. The role ends up going to Andre and before you know it, they fall in love. But in the background there are two people determined to break this love triangle up.
I enjoyed reading all the drama in this book. I think Joy King did an excellent job following up from "Dirty Little Secrets." I thought that Tyler Blake was over the drama, but she definitely encountered more in this sequel. Chantal Morgan's character was very interesting as well because you saw so many sides to her. She was the ruthless gold digger, the insecure girlfriend, and then you saw a sensitive side to her. This was a great read from beginning to end.
Oh, dang, this is "book two"?!?! If you're in the mood for hot and sleazy, this is the quick read for you. The main character, Chantal, is so far removed from who I am as a person I could just not relate. But the plotline still swept me up and I felt obliged to finish. Lawsy, what a ride. The opening scene (at the breakfast table on the morning of Chantal's high school graduation) and her father's naivety at what a pedicure is proved hilarious and actually is what hooked me into reading this. :)
Another good one. Cliffhanger ending. I have Superstar waiting in the wings to reveal to me what happened after Chantal tries to hit Andre and Tyler. I don't like Andre though. If you know you don't like Chantal. Just quit messing with her. Instead he proposes to Chantal to make Tyler jealous. Whatever. He is immature. Either way this book is a page turner from beginning to end.
