However, with her struggle to trust again in the way of her having an actual relationship with a man, Tove’s mindset has her thinking she’s tainted forever. Will her not so subtle savior change her mind? Or is their love story destined for tragedy? Jahi is the baby of a Tanzanian family and has never heard no in his life. (3.5⭐️) My heart really went out to Tove from page one. The things she endured because of her father’s decisions were heartbreaking, and I admired the ways she found to survive them. Her resilience and strength shined throughout the story.

While I eventually grew to enjoy Jahi and Tove as a couple, their initial interactions had me side-eyeing him. He came across as aloof and didn’t always handle her with the care I felt she deserved, so I wasn’t immediately sold on the romance. Over time, though, the small moments and gestures helped me see the foundation of their love story take shape. He was definitely an acts-of-service king and fiercely protective of her.

One thing Neyrey consistently delivers is good banter and side characters who steal the show. Khari was an absolute mess and I loved the way he and Tove stayed roasting each other. Outside of the sibling bickering, he consistently showed up for her and reminded her that she was that girl.

Overall, this was a good read. My biggest wish is that Tove had more time between situations. While she was able to grow and thrive with Jahi, I find stories like hers more rewarding when the FMC gets the freedom to choose the life and love she wants rather than being pushed toward it by circumstance.

AMAZING

ALL I CAN SAY IS THIS BOOK IS DEFINITELY WORTH READING. I DON'T DO SPOILERS. BUT THIS IS MY FIRST READ FROM THIS AUTHOR AND I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. READING THE DESCRIPTION I WASN'T SURE WHAT TO REALLY EXPECT IT. BUT I'M GLAD I DECIDED TO READ IT ANYWAYS. I HAVE ALREADY RECOMMENDED IT TO MY CLOSE FRIENDS WHO LOVE TO READ. GREAT JOB NEY, I CAN'T WAIT TO READ MORE FROM YOU!!

Neyrey has done it AGAIN!!!

Let me just say, she has quickly become my favorite author and she’s not even 10 books in. I loved everything about this story. I was so glad to see Tove get her happy ending with Jahi. Cutest book couple ever. Their story made me so emotional and the writing is out of this world. This is how you do a stand-alone. Neyrey, girl thank you for this!! I’m excited to see what’s next.

This book definitely deserves 5 stars. When I tell you this story was not what I expected. It was not. Tove definitely experienced a life that was tough. It wasn’t the typical life either. The way NeyRey wrote Jahi’s character had me intrigued because of his background . He was African and his mannerism was just different. Khari was definitely an addition that needed to be apart of this storyline because his role played an important part. Try the book out . You definitely won’t be disappointed.

4.5⭐️ I enjoyed this one! Tove, Jahi, and Khari were likable and funny characters, and I loved watching their relationships develop. Despite it being just 200 pages, it managed to pack in a good amount of plot, character development, and spice. It easily could have been longer to let a few major moments shine even more, but overall, it was a good read.

First Book by the author but not the last!

I’ve been looking for a good book for over a month and could not get into any. My friend told me about this one and I must say it was just what I needed. A good fresh love story. I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Great story.

Omg this was so good. After everything Tove went through with Slim, she deserved all the love from Jahi and his family. Slim got exactly what he deserved and I’m glad Tove was the one who dished out his karma. Khari was my favorite, I love how he had everyone fooled.

What an amazing story! Poor Tove really had a traumatic childhood, at the hands of her father no less! He was just lowdown, to just hand her to another man, who he knew had ill intentions. Tove is one of the strongest characters I have seen in a long time. To be able to handle what she had to deal with physically, mentally and emotionally at the hands of Slim; and keep her sanity intact! By keeping quiet, and reading to keep her mind stimulated gave her power and control; when she had it no other way. JAHI! When he laid eyes on Tove, you knew that something phenomenal was going to happen. The way he went about getting Tove was a bit extreme, but his heart was in the right place. He wanted to protect her and care for her, but he was too pushy and demanding. Tove was not having that! He had to learn to soften up, and treat her like a person, not an object that he could have at his whim. Their friendship that grew to love was just beautiful! The way he loved her, and defied his family and heritage to be with her, was just everything! No one deserved to be loved and cared for more than Tove. Khari was a whole mess! Hysterical! Loved his bold personality and wit. You almost took me out, with that ending; but thankfully it was not as it seemed. Excellent read!

Ohhhh, I loved this.

This book cover won in my online groups weekly cover category, but it wasn't until someone in the group started reading it and gave it a shout out (thanks Cleo). I'm so glad that she did. Although this book touches on some sad and uncomfortable subjects, I absolutely enjoyed every page. Jahi and Tove were so perfect together. He came into her life just in time, and according to him, she did the same. He was the unconditional love and strength she should have had before everything went wrong in her life. Better late than never though. And he more than made up for time passed. From beginning to end, this story and the characters, good and bad, was pure page turning entertainment. Slims love was almost sad, when it wasn't stomach turning. Jahi's parents tried it, unsuccessfully, and Khari, he should have his own book. His presence was a necessary lightness that everyone needed. The Wal-Mart part alone had me in tears. I've never read anything by this author before, but I'm so glad the cover caught my groups attention. I loved it from start to finish.

So good!

I just love Jahi! 🥰😩from the sypnosis, I was intrigued with this storyline. This was a VERY unorthodox relationship. I mean Tove was dealt such a bad hand and it was like bad things just happened to her for no reason. After being sold for drugs by her father, Tove endured years of being with Slim. Her way of dealing with the traumatic experience was by not talking and taking whatever Slim was giving her. My heart was breaking for Tove. I was so happy when Jahi came along, I was like, “yesssss, get yo woman!!” The transition from Slim to Jahi wasn’t easy but Tove was finally able to experience a love that SHE consented to and I enjoyed reading about her. This book was so jammed packed with so many things but for every time I was sad, I easily found myself laughing at something that Jahi or Khari did. These characters were so memorable and so lovable. I so loved this book!!!

This book was everything ❤️❤️❤️❤️! The cover blew me away but that was only the beginning. This was such a great story. Tove really was a beautiful thunder and Jahi is a true king. He was literally Tove’s knight in shining armour. We all need a Jahi. Tove and Jahi’s love story was everything. My heart nearly stopped and the tear started to form when reading the first page of the epilogue but the epilogue, epilogued lol.

Khari needs his own book. He kept me laughing throughout was his dirty mouth.

This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I was not disappointed. Don’t wait, just go ahead and read this book. There were some grammatical errors at the start, with far too many commas, but once you get past that it’s a throughly engaging and enjoyable read.

Nothing ordinary about this story.

Tove needed love. There is no other way to describe the depths of compassion I had for this character. The emotional rollercoaster this story took me on had to be the highest level to praise I can give this story. Tove's struggles began at a young age, to no fault of her doing yet; she survived the turmoil to come out whole. Jahi had a multifaceted side in his persona. He showed most people in his life one side, and he displayed his real side with Tove. Jahi's brother Khari was my favorite character. He was fun and made Jahi lighten up and not be so stiff. The way some parts of the story evolved, you will enjoy the outcome. Give this one a try; it a great story.

Good read

While there were a couple confusing parts to this story for me, it was still a good story. I believe this is the last book that I haven’t read from this author. I hope she change her female characters in her future work, don’t get me wrong she’s a strong author and I’ve definitely seen the growth in her work, but all of her female characters are the same. The all need saving in some form or another. It’s like an overwhelming feeling to make write about damsels in distress for her. Although I love all of her male characters I just wish there was a balance with her female characters as well. This story was good though.

Read this book

This was my first read from this author and I was surprised at how much i got into this book! I wouldn't normally finish a book with heavy topics such as $ex trafficking or r@pe but this book drew me in and kept me entertained. No lulls and the plot kept moving forward.

📚💭: Tove had been through hell and back! I was rooting for her the whole book. I was so glad when Jahi and Khari came into her life. She needed both of them, a friend and love. Khari was pure comedy!! That daddy was the epitome of SAN ( hope yall know what that is). And Slim got what he deserved but i wanted him to suffer more!

A MUST READ

I absolutely loved this standalone. The chemistry between Tove and Jahi was ignited at first sight. This definitely wasn't no ordinary love and I love everything about this book. Tove, endured so much, but you couldn't do anything but have love for her. Everything I thought I'd read it all, an unexpected twist happened that captured me all over again. I so loved Khari, between his personality and his antics I'd love more of his story. Highly recommend this well written beautiful love story. Job well done Neyrey.

Love

This was a great book. Its sad what a parent would do to get their next fix and for him to never look back was very sad. I am glad that she was able to get rescued from that situation and found herself in something better . I child should never have to spend her life they way that Tove did before Jahi come to save her. I thank him for being the man he was and changing her life for the better. They both deserved happiness and Slim, her dad and those girls deserved what they all got as well.

This was different from all of the author's other books and I loved it for that! It isn't your average love story yet and still had me swooning. Tove endured a lot and still made you love her. Even down to her name. There was such a variety of characters and the book drew you in from beginning to end. I also enjoyed that there were unexpected turns in the story. Neyrey hasn't disappointed yet and I'm looking forward to what's next.

Excellent Read

This book was beautifully written. I felt the emotions of Tove from the very first page to the last. My heart was overwhelmed with the pain and suffering of her but it also smiled as she began to heal through love and friendship. The twist at the end had me in my feelings initially but was relieved at the outcome. You will not regret reading this standalone. Excellent work.

Great standalone

I enjoyed this story Tove had been through so much at the hands of slim and having her father sale her to a pimp. Jahi was her knight and shining armor who captured her from the big bad wolf and up graded her life to a princess. First time reading this AUTHOR and definitely won't be the last. Please read this book you will be glued to the pages until it says The End.

Kudos to o NeyRey!!!

Wow, such a good book! This book is 🔥 🔥🔥. From the beginning to the end, I was enthralled. Jahi’s and Tove’s love story was beautiful. NeyRey did an excellent job of taking us on a journey where we laughed, cried, and explored all of our emotions while getting to know these characters. Khari was too funny! I am looking forward to reading more books from her.

The love in this story was everything ❤️

I have never read a book by this author. After reading this I will definitely check out some of her other books. This book was not your standard boy meets girl and they have the fairytale ending. For 7 years Tove went through HELL. It was nice to see that even with the hell she inured she found happiness. I don’t want to give away the story, but this standalone is a must read!

Absolutely in love with Tove and Jahi

This was the best book!! The universe captured it's sights on Tove and delivered her. I can not go into a full review without telling too much, but Slim is slime and Khari is the best thing since sliced bread. You will cry hard but laugh even harder at the layers pulled back. I can't wait for you too meet Lovie. Please grab this book up and read it because I'm absolutely in love with Tove and Jahi.

OMG!

This author is new to me! And I wish I could give six stars. The pace and the story unfolds and you’re swept into an amazing story of strength, love, passion, and healing. Tove was incredible. Her life started with such trauma and then she slowly involves into this beautiful being! Mkuu was the right pairing for Tove. His love grew but I think it was instant, Alpha love! Well done!

Loved it

This was really good. Like the title entails it was no ordinary love. Khari was funny and he was truly the life of the party. His personality was everything. Tove was such a dope character especially as her character emerged once she was in a safe place. Jahi was a true alpha. I enjoyed the Swahili language and African aspect of the story.

Tove and Jahi forever

Man Tove had a rough start is an understatement. Her father really gave her to a pedofile who really thought she would love him in the end. It is sad that some do have this experience and may never get free. Glad Tove find her happy ever after and freedom to live life on her own terms

Awesome read🔥🔥🔥

This was such a great read. Tove really went through a lot, I felt so bad for her. I can’t believe Slim called his self being in love with her. I’m glad Jahi and Khari was able to help her. Khari had me dying laughing, he was a straight mess. I’m so happy that everything worked out in the end. You won’t be disappointed with this book, I promise.
