Is God good when life is not? Does His goodness change like our circumstances do? Is seeing God’s goodness a choice? Scripture says so, but do we actually believe it deep in our souls? It’s one thing to believe God is good when times are good, but what about when they’re bad, hard, ordinary, or silent? As Good As It Gets looks at the complexities of faith, trials, joy, and the profound goodness of God while exploring the age-old questions of suffering and divine goodness and how it can be reconciled to God’s promises and His unchanging character.
As we navigate the range of seasons in our lives, we're reminded that God's promises are steadfast, His love unwavering, and His redemptive power unparalleled. Whether you're grappling with the age-old question of suffering or seeking solace in the middle of life's storms, this book serves as a reminder of hope, pointing to the enduring truth that in the reality of His goodness, we find a shift in our perspective towards His strength, healing, and the ultimate Good News. With a combination of personal stories alongside scriptural context, As Good As It Gets takes a real and honest, sometimes funny, and (most importantly) biblical approach to seeking God’s goodness every season, which unveils more of His unchanging and trustworthy nature to us through the process.
Erin makes such a compelling case for the goodness of God no matter our current circumstances. It's such a hard topic to tackle with grace and understanding of people's suffering and very real heartache. She did such an excellent job at tapping into God's love for His children, His heartbreak over our pain and also His promise of joy and peace that surpasses understanding. Loved loved loved this book and will definetely read it again !
