There was some good info in here, but it also read very much like a long essay (even down to the in-text citations). I have a strong hunch that this might have been someone's thesis turned into a self-help book, and that's fine if so, but it wasn't a super entertaining or exciting read. There were also a LOT of tips that promoted what I like to call "doom boxes" ("Just throw everything in a bin and deal with it later!" ... only 'later' never comes for most of us, lol), which feels supremely counterintuitive for a lot of neurodivergent folks IMO. That said, the writing was kind and enthusiastic about self-compassion, which I appreciated, and I learned some fun facts about the physical signs of ADHD in brain matter and chemistry.

Thank you to the publisher for the gifted copy! All thoughts are honest and my own.

To rate this book is very subjective, too much so for my liking. Let me elaborate...

I've suffered from clinically diagnosed, debilitating ADHD for my entire adult life (likely before then too, undiagnosed). You could hand me the perfect, holy grail of ADHD books and if I'm not medicated - it's useless. I'm not a doctor, but my personal experience of vs this book's framing of ADHD are very different. I am in no way saying I don't believe that the author has good intentions and the things outlined will never help; some of these ideas will be implemented into my own routine as early as tomorrow. But again, without medication long enough to get the ball rolling on these changes (at the VERY least) - they're useless.
I don't think authors' underestimation of ADHD is unique to this workbook either, just the idea of the slew of ADHD workbooks out there is ridiculous to me. My struggle with cleaning and organizing is a direct result of the ADHD. So this feels like the ADHD equivalent of telling someone with depression to "just be happy!"

The science is interesting and Ch 2 Identifying Your Kryptonite: ADHD Symptoms and Struggles with Executive Functioning would be helpful for those who didn't already have that knowledge. However, the majority of Ch 4's list of 101 Organizing Hacks weren't new or innovative.

If you already know you're someone who can benefit from these kinds of workbooks, more power to ya. If you're hoping this may be "the things that changes it all", it's not.

{Thank you bunches to NetGalley, Marlowe Stone and publisher for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!}

Stone’s The Ultimate ADHD Workbook merges neuroscience with practical advice, offering a groundbreaking guide for individuals with ADHD. Recognizing that traditional organization methods often miss the mark for this population, Stone provides actionable strategies tailored to the unique challenges of ADHD. Rather than viewing executive functioning difficulties as setbacks, she celebrates the distinctive brain wiring of individuals with ADHD, turning struggles into opportunities for growth.

The workbook is packed with 101 inventive tips that make decluttering more manageable, emphasizing simplicity and practicality. Techniques like visual cues, color-coding, and creating designated areas help minimize distractions and establish productive environments, effectively reducing the chaos often associated with ADHD.

Stone introduces the MAGIC Method, a clear approach to decluttering, alongside the “Dopamenu” reward system, which adds motivation and makes organization enjoyable while reinforcing positive habits. Chapters on auditory tools and tech solutions further enhance focus and productivity, and a final section on self-compassion fosters a positive mindset.

Stone’s prose is crisp and her clear and accessible language simplifies complex concepts, making them relatable and practical. This is a game-changing resource, empowering individuals with ADHD to harness their strengths and conquer disorganization with effective, straightforward strategies. Simple yet powerful, it’s a must-read for anyone looking to create order amidst the chaos of ADHD.

I received a copy from NetGalley and I'm willingly leaving a review
The author explains in details how the ADHD brain works; I'm not sure if this is necessary since you would already know this, having been diagnosed. Sometimes I felt like Stone was talking to children, not adults. In many parts of the book, I could identify myself or one of my children. I wished the author would have also pointed out what others have to go through when we show either our kryptonite or our superpowers. Point in fact, I just saw my husband pick up all the grocery bags around the kitchen after I emptied them (it's usually the opposite, but he just had surgery). I really like using creative ways to organize. I was happy to see that I was already doing many of the ideas found in the multiple lists in the book and noted a few new ones I wanted to try. The Humor Hero was really weird to me and I won't commit to this (LOL). I think everyone should have an extra set of sheets in case of emergency; it happens at all ages. Also, those sheets need to cool down before you make the bed. The Post-It idea on mirrors is too loud for me (overload). Many suggestions from chapters 4 and 7 could easily all be contained in the TickTick app; it does all that and more - check it out. In the 101 list of hacks, many are repeated as a variation; for ex. Pomodoro (25/5) is the same as the 20/10 Method - just change the numbers. There is something for everyone in here.

Marlowe Stone’s The Ultimate ADHD Workbook for Cleaning and Organizing is a transformative resource for those struggling to maintain order while navigating the complexities of ADHD. This comprehensive guide offers practical strategies tailored to the ADHD brain, making it a valuable tool for fostering sustainable habits and a more organized lifestyle.

What sets this workbook apart is its focus on empowerment and self-compassion. Rather than simply providing a rigid set of rules, it equips readers with adaptable methods that acknowledge the challenges of ADHD while helping them build realistic and achievable routines. It encourages progress over perfection and meets readers where they are in their journey.

Reading this book with my daughter and watching her implement its strategies into her daily life has been inspiring. The workbook’s practicality, functionality, and approachability are standout features, making it practical and enjoyable. While it is specifically designed for individuals with ADHD, I believe its strategies can benefit many others—busy parents, time-pressed professionals, or anyone looking to bring more structure and calm into their lives.

Thank you to NetGalley and BookBuzz.net for providing me with an e-book in exchange for my honest review. I appreciate this thoughtful resource and highly recommend it to anyone looking for practical solutions to improve their organization and productivity.

The Ultimate ADHD Workbook for Cleaning and Organization allows individuals with ADHD to discover their “ADHD Superpowers,” identify their unique challenges, and learn numerous strategies/tips to improve their quality of life.

Let me preface my review with two things: 1) I do not have ADHD and 2) I am a clinical psychologist who frequently conducts neuropsychological evaluations (3-4 per week). Initially, I was losing focus during the first few chapters because it’s all of the “boring textbook stuff.” When you finally get to the tips, there’s a severe lack of pictures or anything visually appealing. I can imagine that someone with ADHD will also be incredibly bored reading this book and would have just preferred to have the list without all the other pages. In the technology chapter, I loved the list of different apps, but I wish the author provided some pictures of the apps or the interface of the apps. This would grab my attention and make me more likely to use a product rather than just reading about it and forgetting it. This book also uses lots of metaphors and analogies, which can be helpful for some people. Overall, many of the tips suggested are things I’m already recommending to my patients so it was not as helpful for me, but I could see how this could be beneficial for someone with ADHD.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an Advanced Reader’s Copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

The Ultimate ADHD Workbook for Cleaning and Organizing, and can recommend it for anyone with ADHD stuggling to get in top of everyday tasks. My favorite part was Chapter 6, which is all about sound, including brown noise and binaural beats.
The section titled Auditory Allies: Using Music and Sound for ADHD Support, breaks down how different sounds can help focus and energize the ADHD brain. It gave me ideas on how to incorporate music and use it as a tool in wveryday activities to help me ficus better.

As the kitchen is a pain point for me some helpful tips included using a “dish bin for couch eaters (tip 11)”, “The Dishes solution (tip 44) ” (havei g only one set of dishes per family memeber - very useful when you dont have a lot of space) and saying goodbye to oven scrubbing (tip 52) (using oven liners as shields - great idea saving so much time). Another great tip was tip 86 the use it or lose it law which really will help with decluttering if you are able to get rid of stuff.

Bonus resources included downloadable checklists which is helpful for staying organized a lot easier.

The description of The Ultimate ADHD Workbook for Cleaning and Organizing by Marlowe Stone states it contains over 100 hacks and strategies that work with your brain, not against it.

The book provides an online resources area with an “ADHD Superpowers Quiz”. After you take the quiz it tells you what it has identified as your strengths (Superpowers) and as your weaknesses (Kryptonite).

There are also monthly challenges charts, checklists and other materials available there.

I think this book would be best for someone that needs help both in identifying what their strengths/weaknesses are and in learning some methods that may make organization/cleaning easier.

you netgalley for an advanced ARC of this non fiction self help book.

I habe recently.been diagnosed with ADHD and I have been researching into.it more.since I am a person who believes the more information you know, the more you can understand how to handle and also do the best you can with what you have.

This book was a really good read and helped Me when it come to what I find hard to do when it comes to keep myself motivated to clean and organise, I put the steps into motion over a period of time and documented how they were for me and did it help (keeping myself accountable) and it helped allot and my cleaning habits now for my home have changed a bit and for the better.

I see this as a helpful book and I definitely will be buying this book to add to my self help library for myself.

i don’t know what to say about this one.
i think there’s some good that can be found in the book but a lot of it relies on almost a toxic positivity version of events. there’s wording like “superpower” which i HATE in reference to neurodivergent behaviors.
i think some may find decent information and it kind of glazes over really good stuff like glimmers, but it’s diluted with things like “listen to music, what about binaural beats?”
it wasn’t for me and i wouldn’t necessarily suggest this to my neurodivergent audience as my first pick for neurodivergent self help books.
all the same, thank you netgalley, and the author marlowe stone for a digital copy in exchange for a review.

ARC Review - Excellent and easy to digest content with ways to implement each idea in your daily life. I will be using the MAGIC method to tackle tasks that I have been putting off for far too long.

The author also provided many valuable app suggestions to help the reader utilize available technology in conjunction with the advice provided in the workbook. I plan to use the timer apps and body doubling apps she recommended!

The chapter about overstimulation and noise was very insightful! I was able to relate to the author’s experience and will try her suggested use of brown noise in the future.

Great book!

As someone with ADHD who heavily struggles with executive dysfunction, I'm not a stranger to reading self-help books that imply or promise to teach you the secrets to overcoming your ADHD. So I was surprised when Stone's take was almost completely opposite: instead of overcoming your ADHD, learn to thrive by embracing it. I really appreciated the unique perspective, and while I didn't always relate to the examples given, the bulk of the book was full of suggestions and hacks I could actually see myself using, and benefitting from.

Thank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy of this book. My review represents my honest and true thoughts.

Kudos to the author!
I always felt clutter was my friend but after reading the book I realize it was my foe.
Seems that I need to live in a more minimalist space.
Thank you Marlowe for helping me define that I identify most with being easily distracted. The clutter and hyperfocus truly have reigned my world but now I have tools to try and take back control.
But I must say hands down one of the best parts was discovering Isochronic Tones. I've always loved music and found it to be my "happy place" but when I turned on some of the Isochronic Tones I found my peace.
Thanks Marlow The Ultimate ADHD Workbook is AWESOME!!

I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley but I ended up buying this book so I can refer back to it. It’s full of really useful tips for ADHD so you can take steps to manage your home and clutter, simplifying it.

The format of this book is really clear and there is an explanation at the beginning of what the ADHD experience looks like so it’s really useful for both those diagnosed and undiagnosed. I prefer the physical copy for ease of reference.

The tips and techniques can be adapted to suit your own home environment and this book will help you get on track to actually enjoy your life instead of being paralysed by overwhelm and drowning in chores and clutter

I actually thought this book was really informative and useful. I must admit I skimmed through but I did screenshot some useful sections. In terms of organisation, I’ve got that down but instead of cleaning my house I’ve been sitting in the bath for an hour reading a book. I think to someone starting the journey of working with instead of against their ADHD will really like this book.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read and review

This book is full of helpful strategies for organizing that would benefit anyone, not just those with ADHD. The quiz, printables, and checklists are extra bonuses to complement the workbook. I appreciated the metaphors that clarified the concepts about how the ADHD brain functions, how to capitalize on your strengths, and how to be compassionate with yourself.

There is a real need for workbooks like this right now. There are a lot of adults who didn't get the opportunity to learn how to deal with ADHD as children, for a lot of reasons. I wasn't diagnosed early because I had other families that seemed more extreme.
This book is helpful because it has strategies and actions I can take that are actually useful. Some of them don't work for me because of bad habits I already have, but there are a lot I can make use of right away.

I thought this one was ok. It goes for a little about the ADHD brain, which if you’re like me and picked this up because you read everything on ADHD was nothing new. I also do most of these cleaning tips already so I didn’t gain as much out of this as others might.
