Boba’s on the menu. So far, the Demon World has shown Arthur nothing but love. Now? It’s time for him to reciprocate.
Arthur’s finally finding his place in the demon world. ****He has his own tea shop in a city that accepts him and a family that he’s beginning to call his own. But when Milo’s father sends word that he’s returned from his latest expedition, Arthur is faced with an impossible choice.
He could stay in the city and live his peaceful life, or he could go with Milo to the edges of the known world.
There are plenty of reasons to stay. There’s Lily, the stubborn owl-child who loves Arthur. There’s Mizu, the water elemental who’s becoming more comfortable with the world around her. But there’s also a very good reason to go. Arthur’s best friend and adoptive brother needs help and Arthur’s in a position to give back.
The second volume in a delightful cozy fantasy series, Demon World Boba Shop is a soothing balm for those who need a break from the chaos of everyday life. Even the smallest acts of kindness ripple outward in magical ways and in this world, everyone belongs, and happiness is always on the menu.
Arthur and his tea shop are back with this delightful sequel. In this story, Arthur explores the vast world outside of his city. Big changes create new challenges as he navigates his place in the world. Friendship and kindness abound in this wonderful continuation of Arthur's story.
While there is considerably less boba tea and somewhat less coziness present in this book, it is still a very nice and pleasant read. If only our world was as kind and thoughtful as this one! I'm excited to see how Arthur's new adventures play out in Book 3.
Ohhhh man RC Joshua really pulled out all the stops when writing bk2 and it's truly the best cozy litRPG yet! As Arthur and his pack of friends make their mark on the world and system! You're gonna hafta grab this book ta see what I mean 'cause, you know, how can a Boba Tea Shop make any significant difference! And for some reason I hear Captain Kirk saying... Explore a New Frontier and Colonize It. I know the words are tweaked a little. 😉😆 🙃
Here's a few quotes that I found amusing:
"...and ran towards Milo’s shack, bursting through the door like an anthropomorphic pitcher of fruit punch busting through a wall."
“See, Milo? They’re so nice. Why can’t we be nice like that?” “Because it’s we, Rhodia. We’d both have to be nice. At the same time.”
"...both of them were blushing so hard they looked like the flag of Liechtenstein."
"She wasn’t just hanging on every word, she was swinging from them like a trapeze artist."
“I like his cakes. They look like funny little mistakes.” Mizu smiled. “Like a cave-in you can eat.”
I asked myself as I started this book if it could get more wholesome and nice. Like there is a height you simply can't go past, right? A level of credible niceness that no one could go over for fear of feeling less than genuine...
Well it did. Boba slinging Arthur finds his footing even more solid in this outing. All of his friends are awesome. He even gets to go on a little non-adventure. All in all a tale well told with just a little bit of. All of the characters maintain their consistent feel and voice and we even make some new friends along the way.
If you liked the first one, I'm sure you already picked this up. It was a smart move and I don't think it will disappoint. Everyone's friendships evolve in a good way with more complexity as the friend group expands.
If you didn't like the first one, this continues on a lot in the same way.
If you're new here.. its the second book in the series so maybe go read the first and come back to this one.
This book is not as good as the first in the series, but I enjoyed it for many of the same reasons. Much like a good video game is most thrilling in the beginning when you’re always achieving but still fun, this book is just not as fresh and new, but I know the characters and I know the setting and I liked both.
The plot was fairly predictable once it settled in, but that did not make it less enjoyable. Arthur, Milo, Mizu, Lily, and all make for nice characters that are like reading a cozy game.
I'm a sucker for low-stakes fantasy adventures, and the first book in the series hit all the right buttons for me, so I was very excited to see where the story would go from here.
Needless to say, I'm hooked! The story's commentary on the ever-changing world and in turn the lives of those in this world is a theme that carries throughout the book from the first chapter to the last, concluding with a satisfying ending, and a massive story element that lines up perfectly for the subject of the next book!
I wouldn't say I liked this one as much as the first book, however, I'm not going to say that it was bad! it felt slower than the first book to me (which the first one was also slow but endearing enough to keep me going) I just didn't feel as interested
But it still stands that these books are really comfortable, like an old friend! I can always appreciate that! I'm unsure if I'm going to continue with book 3, but it took me a minute to read the second one too, so who knows 🙂
Again mostly the same as the first one. It feels like the cozy is semi self imposed and that the author can’t help but make the main character super important to the world and setting.
However decent writing and a good cast of characters make it a fun read. Just not the coziest of stories
The second in the coziest, happiest series ive read. All the characters are cute and have happy lives. The author weaves injust enough conflict to create growth and action, but never so much it takes away from the overall wholesomeness.
I enjoyed this sequel and am excited for the next book. It is exactly as the author designed as explained in the afterward: a refreshing palate cleanser and a place to relax and rejuvenate.
I really loved reading this book. It's funny and entertaining. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book and series are definitely worth checking out.
I got nervous at the start of this book because I had no idea where they were going to go with it but after a while I saw there was some big things happening and I overall loved the ending. It wasn’t the same thing as the first book
This one had cute and funny instances, but felt disjointed and somehow empty. Getting also a bit tired of Arthur acting like a teen when he is not one. Might give a try later to book 3, but not interested right away. Onto my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!!
A reluctant 3 stars. Nothing wrong, nothing special.
The unremarkable forced romance from book 1 thankfully mostly disappears into the background but that isn't a positive, merely the lessening of a negative.
This series just continues to rock for me. It's comforting, cozy, but also has just enough vibes and goals that I can't wait to see where and what we do next. I only wish I could have a physical edition for my shelves! Please!!
2025 bk 43 - What an enjoyable world and series. It was good to see a sequel and the character development ensuing as Arthur continues to enjoy his "nice' world.
This one wasn’t as perfect as the first book but still kept me interested and I will definitely be continuing the series. It’s such a nice world and everyone is so supportive and helpful.
