Seeing Our Sisters

Rate this book
For years, the stereotype has been that women are against each other. While this may be true in some cases, the love women have for and with each other can be one of the strongest. Seeing Our Sisters was born out of sisterhood, the desire to empower, a belief in the power of stories, and what we can do when we come together. This collection of ten stories, written by a collective of women whose experiences transcend borders—demographic, and the ones societal expectations try to impose—is a celebration of diverse voices and visions for what is possible. United by our friendship, our love of storytelling, and our insistence that a spectrum of perspectives and experiences—including those that may be marginalized or formerly unheard—must be shared, this anthology honours both the differences and connections that comprise who we are and how we exist in the world.
These stories are about relationships in its many manifestations as well as self-realization, leaving and finding homes in our lands, in each other, and in ourselves.

Creative, bold and original

The idea of these writers coming together for this project is amazing. They finally build an anthology that blends their diversity in geography and genre. Every writer serves her menu that satisfies the appetite of the reader. There's creativity and originality as they blend African languages and English to give a flow like never before. The writers are bold, sharp and fluid in their tales.

I immensely enjoyed reading the stories in this book and was pleasantly surprised that some authors had more than one story 🥳🥳🥳🥳. The stories are beautiful, breathtaking, heartbreaking yet still wholesome 🥺🥺. It's a rollercoaster of emotions and you are definitely in for an interesting ride with this read....... I absolutely loved how each story brought out the themes of friendship and sisterhood which is something I am a firm believer in. Every woman should experience such beautiful sisterhood and friendship in their lifetime.......10/10 would recommend!!!
