Glamour & Gumballs de Lola Glass Serie Survival of the Mated libro 2
Argumento:

We're back at it again, season 2 of Survival because the Society hadn't learned their lesson the first time, haha. Seriously, maybe it's because I haven't seen a single episode of Survivor, but still, I think Lola is brilliant, coming up with a new strategy for couples every time. We met Rhett in Survival of the Mated Book 1, Lust and Lollipops, and now it's his turn. I was so ready for this book.
Rhett and Erin are very compatible. They both have strong and steady personalities. Erin could have let her past shape her negatively, but she was more reasonable than expected, plus she was able to work her crap out with very little fuss, it was refreshing. As for Rhett, he's calm and confident when faced with a challenge, but that doesn't mean he didn't have his possessive moments, which I really enjoyed.
Usually, when I'm reading a series where every book is a different couple, I usually like the first couple the best (especially if it's a Lola Glass book), but I have to say Erin and Rhett are giving Molly and Cameron (the couple in the first book) a run for their money. I will go as far as to say that I might even like Rhett a hair better than Cameron. Rhett is the grumpy silent type, and it works for him.
While this was the same game as the previous book, it didn't feel like the same story, heck, even the returning guys didn't feel the same. What got to me most was Rhett's past. It wasn't something I expected, but it made me have all the feels. Glamour and Gumballs was a fun read. I enjoyed seeing Erin and Rhett play their game; I wonder whose up next.
In *Glamour & Gumballs* by Lola Glass, reality TV takes a thrilling turn with “Survival of the Mated.” The protagonist must choose one of three alluring fae finalists to marry amid fierce competition, relentless storms, and unexpected twists.
When she forms a surprising alliance with Rhett, a fellow contestant equally dismayed by the show, their strategic partnership quickly evolves into a passionate romance that defies the game’s constraints. Their chemistry fuels the story, transforming the competition into a battle for their hearts and futures.
Glass masterfully blends high-stakes drama with steamy romance, delivering a captivating tale filled with suspense and emotional depth. Fans of the series will enjoy the return of beloved characters and the fresh twists that keep the narrative engaging. *Glamour & Gumballs* is a fun, romantic read that explores both the excitement of reality TV and deeper personal connections, making it a must-read for fans of passionate standalone romances.
Book 1 was cute but I didn't really love it. I thought I wouldn't like this one much either, but I devoured it! Once our FMC got over her situation and decided to take what she wanted, the story got spicy and fun! There was planning, there was perfect execution, there was communication, there was a big fae dick. What more can a girl ask for?
Another fantastically funny, page-turning read by Lola Glass; with drama, brilliant characters with steamy chemistry, developing friendships, teamwork, heaps of humor, surprises and spice💖. Set in a world where the fae are looking for a mate in a reality TV show (Survivor meets Batchelor, Fae style).
The second season of Survival of the Mated is unfortunately in the rain (mostly) and the 10 remaining contestants from the first season are back with 1 new one. Erin is not wanting to take part but agrees to when the guard Rhett arrives to take her to the island with some promises of a few changes (she can choose her own wardrobe for starters). But on arriving at the island they're both shocked to find he's the 12th contestant and Jordan will be her guard.
Rhett had his heart broken years ago and isn't interested in mating, he's happy to fade away. He's furious to find he's being made to take part but Christina, Cameron's mum (Lust & Lollipops), is on the council and doesn't want to lose him so won't take no. When the rain on the island doesn't let up and Erin's shivering, none of the other's want to risk getting close to her apart from in a group, after the last season, so it's Rhett she goes to for warmth as she refuses to do a group huddle.
"I'm going to shamelessly use you for warmth," I mumbled as I pressed my face to his gloriously bare chest. "Let's hope it gets me voted out." "I'll cross my fingers for you," I agreed.
Erin decides to bring a little chaos to the island, she's got nothing else to do with the men ignoring her, and starts working with Rhett as she knows he's not interested. But as they spend time together they find the game changing; their friendship becomes something new and more alliances are formed. Can Erin make it to the end with Rhett or will she have to choose someone else?
I really liked this one and loved Erin and Rhett (and his nickname for her) as well as some of the others on the island, particularly Kyle and Chris. I would strongly recommend this and look forward to the next in this series.

“What did you do Chaos?” “A woman doesn’t leave my bed until she’s forgotten her own name.” “I want you, Chaos. I need you. I’m not leaving you , no matter what.”
Another hit from Lola, she never disappoints. I was so excited when I got the ARC for this book. After reading the last book “Survival of the mated:Lust and Lollipops” I was so looking forward to Rhett’s story. I dropped everything I was reading and had to pick this up. It only took me a day to read it and I stayed up until very late because I couldn’t put it down. Lola’s characters have a way of grabbing you and sinking their claws into your heart. Her characters are always so relatable and you get so invested in them and their story. I love that she always makes the side characters part of the story and not just an afterthought. Rhett had my heart, he had his heart stomped on and had resigned himself to being alone. Erin had a personal battle with loss that she had to work through. I love that they grew together and overcame their bad experiences to forge a lasting relationship. I melt for nicknames Rhetti Spagetti and Chaos, oh I’m a puddle. One of my favorite things about Lola’s writing is the banter and the sass, it is always on point. I always laugh out loud when reading her books and the tension always keeps me on my toes. Not to mention the spice, you can always count on Lola for a hot steamy session, holy hell. I love that their experience on the island was different from Cam and Molly’s and that they had their own story. I can’t recommend this book enough. It should be on everyone’s TBR list. If you like strong FMC, grumpy MMC, lots of banter and sass, steamy spice and a feel good feeling at the end, this is the book for you.
We met Rhett in the previous book as the host and protector for the new Fae Survivor Show, where 12 male Fae vie for a woman to be chosen as their mate. All of the Fae are old and if they don’t find their mate, they may Fade. Rhett picks up the next woman for the show, Erin and she really doesn’t want to be part of it. Negotiations ensue and they go to the Island. However, there is a big change- Rhett is to become one of the males vying for Erin, because the leaders of the Society are Cam’s parents and since his own parents deaths, Rhett has been ‘their other son.’ Rhett is livid. Lol, just watching his reactions throughout the book is both painful and hilarious at the same time. So Jordan is now the protector and host. So the contestants are for the most part the same as the previous show: Kyle, Travis, Kaden, Chris, Ev, Julian, Jim, Reid, Harker, and Colt, besides Rhett. I really enjoyed the book as Kyle and Rhett are hilarious together. Omg. Kyle was absolutely outrageous in this book. I can’t wait to read Kyle’s story. Finding about Rhett & Erin’s pasts made me cry. I had the AC on once again, and I fell in love with Rhett in book 1. We get to see a bit more about Cam’s family in this book and Christina truly loves Rhett and it’s beautiful to see. This book was just awesome. In some ways, I loved it more than Cam’s book. I know, blasphemy. Lol. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Why are the human females kept virtual prisoners for four years? That seems excessive.
Lust & Lollipops Cameron: “My parents lead the Society. They were elected nearly a millennium ago,...”
Molly: I hadn’t been to a beach since I was ten or eleven. Before the war. Before I lost my parents. Before the fae.
Glamour & Gumballs Cameron’s mother, Christina, speaking to Erin: “I was human once, too.”
Let’s Review: Millennium - a period of 1,000 years. Before the fae - 13/14 years as Molly is now 24 “I was human once too” according to Christina. So if the fae weren’t known about until the war, how could a human like Christina have been mated to a fae for at least a millennium?
I think I mentioned lack of tension between the characters in the first book. This volume had plenty since Rhett was forced to participate with absolutely no desire for a mate.* Erin, the human female, was also there against her will. The weather is miserable with constant rain and low temperatures. Erin gloms onto Rhett for warmth. She feels he is her safest choice due to his lack of desire for a mate.
The forced proximity leads to them developing feelings for each other and Rhett finds himself wanting to win the game. His confession regarding the first female he had loved was enlightening. Erin also comes around and they manage to work together to HEA.
*Cameron’s mother is who finagled his way into the competition.
I was so excited to read this book! I read the first book and just fell in love with all the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed that all the characters returned in book 2. I loved the setting of these books and that it consisted of a game show. This book had a well-developed story line and consisted of many charismatic characters. I felt all their emotions. I loved the suspense in this book and not knowing who would get kicked off the show. It made this a real page turner, and I could not put it down. It had a fun side but also had a sweet romance that had me devouring this book.
Let's start off with the fact that Rhett does not want a mate, and Erin does not want to play the game. I loved the spin off that it rained and stormed throughout the entire book. I enjoyed Erin's personality. Especially how all the guys were treating her throughout the book. She was a strong-willed character and really self-analyzed what she wanted throughout the game. It was so different than the first book and that kept it fresh and exciting. I love the struggles with the characters and their pasts.
All in All, I loved this book and series. I highly recommend this book to all. It was fun, lighthearted and romantic but also touched on emotions and had suspenseful moments.
I received this book free and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.
I don't have as much to say about this one as I did book one. I liked it, maybe more than book one, but it still wasn't awesome.
It was a relatively quick read, and moved fast plot wise. I just didn't like the plot and how little effort was truly put into developing it. I love Lola's story telling but man, this sort of plot definitely needed more meat to its bones, ya know? It just felt lacking in many areas, especially with how often things were condensed and glossed over just to move the story along.
So, it was fine. Not bad, not great, but goodish. I liked Rhett. I mostly liked Erin.
I didn't much care for the description of Rhett's ex having "caked on make-up" when Erin saw her in his illusion. Sure, the ex hurt Rhett and seemed a bit of a snob but why make it seem like her wearing a lot of make-up was a bad thing? If she wanted to cake it on and glam it up, then cool. It came across as an insulting descriptor imo and I felt it was uncalled for, really, because the ex's actions did plenty to make her look bad.
Otherwise, it was fine. I liked Kyle more in this one. I still hate the concept of forcefully sending these women to pick a mate and ultimately they don't truly have a choice in who to pick from until the final three candidates due to the rules. Which therefore makes it impossible to actually get to know any of the Fae men as they avoid the chick or else risk getting voted off and in return it just feeds and fortifies the FMCs insecurities and uncertainties about taking a mate for life.
Overall it didn't seem that well thought out, the Survival island game atleast, the plot itself with the Fae needing mates was fine.
Wow was this so much better than the first. I absolutely loved Erin and Rhett. Their dynamic was so sweet, and this was a true allies-to-friends-to-lovers story, which are so fun to read. Rhett was so steady and calm, he was honest about his own trauma but didn’t use it as an excuse to mistreat people. He was the perfect combo of growly grumpy and steady heartthrob. Erin was such a good FMC. I was nervous in the first couple chapters that she would be unnecessarily combative, but honestly given the plots of these books and their heavy lean towards misogyny, she had every right to growl and snarl at the guys. Plus she was so mistreated on the island. My heart ached for her literally being a prize, and not being treated like a person at all. Made me love Rhett (and Kyle) that much more. I loved how the MCs communicated well and talked about their traumas. There was very little miscommunication, which is a trope I tire of. Their romance had me giggling and sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for their next interaction. 4 ⭐️ for Rhett and Erin (and Kyle and Chris as great side characters!)
H: Rhett Rapture h: Erin 2nd book of this series and I actually liked it more than the 1st one. We have Erin who was told she is compatible 4 yrs ago. Rhett picked her up just like he did with Molly but w/out his knowledge he was chosen to be in the game. In this story it rained a lot like alot so she was wet constantly. Now they brought all the contestants back so they kind of got an idea of what to do and what not to do like getting close to Erin out of fear of being voted off. So while Erin was having her butt freezing none of the guys wanted to out himself by offering to keep her warm. Immediately everyone knows that Rhett didn't want to be there and doesn't want a mate. He fell in love with a human who broke his heart when she found out that he was a Fae. So knowing this Erin used his body heat to keep warm. She would sleep with him every time. Over time they both started having feelings toward each other. I love Rhett and Erin's personality better than Cam and Molly. I can't wait to read Kyle's story next.
Glamour & Gumballs brings a new female contestant to the Survival of the Mated game show. MFC Erin doesn’t want to be there but options are few. Her guard Fae MMC Rhett doesn’t either when they arrive on the island and he is told he is now going to be one of the contestants vying for Erin’s selection. Both their disgruntled attitude towards the competition soon begins to wane when they find themselves starting to feel the inklings of attraction for each other. Each has issues from their pasts to overcome besides the competition from the other Fae males which heightens the humor, intrigue, tension, and spice. Loved the writing, and adventure as the time on the Island starts to fly by and Rhett has to be the winner if Erin is going to be his. So the plan…add chaos to the equation! Enjoyed the story and looking forward to the next!.

Part of the Survival of the Mated series okay here we go again I declare Lola is trying to drive us crazy …she is winning by the way …okay fine I was a little crazy prior to starting any of her books now I just don’t know any more 😊 We met Rhett in Survival of the Mated, but I like Erin with him they are compatible. Erin could have had a totally different past, but she has the ability to work issues out pretty easy much like Rhett he is usual calm, confident when faced with challenges but he a possessive something to say the least although I must say he is a grumpy most days. I think the thing is neither of them want to be there for the games nor do they want to participate in any way, but it is funny that very attitude is the attraction that draws them to one another but boy the banter between the two of them is entertaining but also intriguing as to where it is headed, are they mates, and will it end in happiness?
Glamour & Gumballs, the second book in Lola Glass's series Survival of the Mated, brings the heat and intensity up a notch with Erin and Rhett's rougher, more intense dynamic. While the story echoes the first book another magical competition filled with chaos and romance. This story feels edgier and more raw.
Erin, a fierce and stubborn heroine, finds herself competing on a mystical island, where fae contenders fight for her heart. Unlike Molly from book one, Erin isn't afraid to push back, and her fiery attitude makes her stand out. Rhett, her main love interest, is equally tough, and their chemistry is less about taking it slow and more about fiery tension from the start.
The magical competition is still central, filled with action and unpredictable twists, but what really shines is the electric dynamic between Erin and Rhett. Their rough, no-holds-barred interactions give the romance a different edge from the previous book, making it feel fresh yet familiar.
However, like the first book, the ending felt a bit rushed, leaving some plot points underdeveloped. Despite this, Glamour & Gumballs stands out with its grittier, more intense energy. If you enjoyed the first book but crave a rougher, more passionate romance, Erin and Rhett's story will definitely satisfy.
3.5 ⭐️ Rhett and Erin's story is a nice contrast to the previous book. Erin knew that she was going to end up on "Survivor of the mated" and is adamant that she is going to make it as uncomfortable for everyone as possible. The method to her madness is understandable; she wants to put the guys under pressure to see how they react after a traumatic abusive childhood. Meanwhile, watching her cause chaos, is Rhett who also does not want to be there and planned to let himself fade after one previously failed relationship. I am so here for Kyle at this point, calling Rhett out and getting him to actually fight for her. I thought that the dynamic between Erin and Rhett was interesting. She really prodded him to do what his instincts told him to do. Part of me feels like she could have communicated that better instead of letting him flounder but there is something to be said for letting him grow without being pushed. This was a fun, light read.

So I fell in love with Cam and Molly for the first book and I’m so happy to be able to read the second one so soon after. We get to see Rhett and Erin’s story!
I was so eager to see what the author had in store for Rhett. Seeing as he wasn’t too thrilled to be casted in the 2nd season of Survival. We see this in the cameo from the first book. Of course my nosey self just had to learn more and know more. This second book is a little intense, as in the main characters themselves have series baggage to unload. We see some of the returning fae from the first book try to win our main girl Erin’s heart. Knowing how much Christina and Charlie care for Rhett I knew they wouldn’t just let him fade. I’m so happy he found his happy ending. Fated mates is my jam so it made my heart happy when they were happy.

Glamour and Gumballs was fantastic! I absolutely loved Erin and Rhett's story. Erin is the new contestant on a show she doesn't want to be on, and Rhett was her guard who was not looking for a mate. He knows what's it like to give your heart to someone to have them crush it. However, Christina the Leader of Society throws a twist that Rhett never saw coming and Erin is determined to cause Chaos. I don't want to give anything away that happened on the island so I will just suggest you read this story because it does not disappoint. This story was full of games in the best ways, it was funny, steamy, sweet, beautiful and ends with a HEA. I'm definitely looking forward to Kyle's book. I hope it includes a scene with his sister Kenna somewhere in his story, since finding her a mate was a part of the deal he made with Erin and Rhett.
Glamour & Gumballs was an exceptional sequel in the Survival of the Mated series. It feels different enough from book one to keep things interesting. While the general layout of "Season Two" is the same, Erin and Rhett are in a different situation than Cameron and Molly were. There was also some more social scheming between the males in this book because most of them had already been through a season together and learned from it.
They still don't really mention details about the challenges in this book. It's very much about the experience of the human female and her relationships with the fae males. Erin was a character ready to make things difficult for those around her. She'd advocate for herself and not shy away from confrontation.
I'm looking forward to even more changes in the third book. It's meant to center around Kyle but also take place several seasons down the road.
While I enjoyed this book, I did find it very similar in many ways to the first book almost like a control C control V situation from the first to second book in the way that the survivor tasks were basically the same in the same order and not described just kind of a summary of "then this happened" and the couple goes on their date together. I haven't seen survivor in many years so maybe some seasons are like that where not much happens, or similar things happen (?) I don't know I guess I felt more could have been done with the tasks and rewards some of that could have been changed up.
I would still recommend the book to others it was a cute, quick read with a happy ending.
Come on, I thought this was gonna be a super long series. And now I find out Kyle's book is the last! 😭why?? It's so fun to read!
But alas, love Rhetti spaghetti, liked that he's not a total grump. And Erin was a blast to read, fun, confident, and just awesome.
But Christina is just one of the best characters even if she's just in a couple of chapters, her letters are the best with all the p.s.' although I was missing some.
Are we even gonna get a book about Kyle's sister?
Also all that smut and none of them do it when they are both flying? Or mental glamour, it was obvious she had the same powers as him, such a lost opportunity.
I really was hoping for a book from Julian, he seemed interesting. Oh well.
It took me two days to read this book. Not because it was a long book cuz it's actually pretty short. It took me that long because I kept stopping just so I could stretch it out because I didn't want it to end. And then to find out that the next book is the last really made me sad because I enjoyed the series so much. But I am happy that Kyle will finally get his mate. As much as I enjoyed the first book I think I love this one even more. Because of the fact that Rhett had so little time left and was so against taking a mate it made his an Erin's story that more intense. I was hoping the series would continue I wanted Chris to find his mate since he did so much to help.

I haven't read a book by Lola that I haven't loved and this series is no different.
Rhett is a surly surprise contestant on the survival competition and fights hard to continue feeling nothing. But Erin quickly gets past his emotional walls and then the real game begins.
Rhett has resigned himself to fading so is furious at being forced to compete and even more so at being forced to feel again. Whilst Erin is a small package of feminine fury at having her choices taken from her.
Another thoroughly enjoyable, instantly enthralling story. As you've come to expect a light touch, fascinating world building, likeable characters and so much heat. Can't wait for Kyle's story.

I really really enjoy this series. This book is very similar to the first in the series - girl who is compatible to be a fae mate is subject to a Survivor style game show to choose a guy instead of the bachelor and is very overwhelmed by the game dynamic and stranded on an island with a bunch of these guys after being secluded for so long, and connects with one guy in an effort to make sure someone she at least likes makes it to the end. Rhett and Erin have a lot of chemistry. Rhett is your fantasy possessive alpha and Erin is sassy to the extreme. I really enjoyed their story and how they are there for each other. Lots of fun, laughter, and spice!

He would rather fade than find a Mate but for the first time in years, he’d found a weakness within himself and it was her his Chaos.
All the other Fae never thought Rhett was in the game, he didn’t want a mate and he never wanted to be in the games but appearances can be deceptive and before they could blink, he was in it to win.
Another great addition to the series, a little more serious than the last one but no less enjoyable and definitely well worth a read!
I cannot wait for Kyle to finally find his mate in the next of the series!.

I LOVE this series! Glamour and Gumballs is an unputdownable, fun, feel-good read and the tension and banter between our MCs had me devouring every page! Both Rhett and Erin are highly resentful of the circumstances they are forced into and their initial strategy for playing the game is quickly upset by the undeniable chemistry between them. I loved how they both grow to trust in their own and each other’s feelings, strengthening the bond between them and overcoming the pain of their pasts. An intense, angsty read with some absolutely scorching scenes, Glamour and Gumballs will definitely be a favourite re-read!

Rhett and Erin are the main characters in this book two of Survival of the Mated book. You will meet up with the other competitors and follow along with the game as if there was not a break so be sure to read the first one. I found their tale really well written and full of hope as the two find each other and realize that there might be a future for them after all. Don’t miss out on this magical, passionate, ever-scheming game that holds so many lives in the balance. "This is my honest review of an advanced reader copy."
