Doing something I rarely do and giving this 5 stars for the vibes. There are some things that don’t make sense and what I felt was a fairly random plot hole at the end, as well as this whole suspense thing barely being part of the plot. But I read it in a single afternoon and somehow fell in love with Logan (who truly is a butthole), so 5 stars and a definite reread.

This is book 1 in Winter's The Valeur Billionaires series and WOW, what a read. I will start this review with a bit of a warning that it sends in a bit of a cliffy but I will also say this was an amazing read! Of course, our main character is Logan as the title suggests and along with him is Sloane. I honestly feel I could write a lil book for a review, but I'll try to keep this short and sweet. This book is well written, and I enjoyed the dual point of view. I loved seeing the character growth in Logan especially and while the book focus' on Logan and Sloane's journey we're also introduced to Logans siblings who I'm excited to find out more about. Logan has a distinct personality which Winter's writes wonderfully and I love the sweet, steam, humor, suspense and more that's written into this book. The family dynamic was great, and I am so excited for more!

I want to start out by saying that I received this as an ARC & in exchange, I was to read fully and leave an honest review.

I actually really enjoyed this book. I love the grumpy sunshine trope and both Sloane and Logan were really likeable, even from the beginning. The only negative thing I have to say is that I think the sexual tension was a little rushed. Fantasizing over your boss that you've only seen in person once was a little far fetched IMO but the rest of the book I really loved.

I also really liked the little self promo with the apartment library. I thought it was such a cute idea.

I signed up for the epilogue but having trouble viewing it so hopefully I can figure it out soon!

Sloan is literally a firecracker—like, no filter, no apologies, and she knows exactly what she wants. I’m obsessed with her confidence. Then there’s Logan, the ultimate grumpy guy, but as you read more, you totally get why he’s like that, and it just makes you love him even more. The way these two come together? Chef’s kiss. The story does end in a preview for the next book in the series.

Logan is just the beginning of this new series, and I already know it's going to be another one of my favorites, which means adding a shelve to my "favorite series" collection.

The characters, the story, the humor, and, oh my, the heat! Karin really knows how to do it all.

I'll be reading Logan again and again, and I can't wait to see who's next!

This book was so easy to read. I finished it within 24 hours. Logan has a rough exterior but there’s so much more behind it. Sloane well she is such a great fmc she is hard headed and stubborn. They ended up seeming so perfect for each other. My only critique is I wish there was more of them just talking and getting to know each other, forming a bond. Overall it is a great book and wonderfully spicy.

This story features Logan Valeur the very grumpy and sometimes downright ignorant manager, brother Liam, Manager and the never there Lucas and the brilliant technical designer, Sloane Harris. Sloane wins an all expenses paid trip to London as employee of the year with free stay at the company apartment. Little does she know she is about to have company. Logan better known as “The Dark Lord” by those who work for him totally forgets about the contest and arrives at the apartment the next day. Logan and Sloan are like oil and vinegar but sometimes with a good shakeup they do mix. This story contains sizzling romance, betrayal, and more “hotter than hot extra spicy” moments balanced with Sloane’s quirky personality. I thoroughly enjoyed this first book about the Valerie Billionaires and can’t wait for which brother is next!.

I was lucky enough to be selected as an ARC reader for my honest review.

The book starts off very strong. I enjoyed the sexual tension from the get go. There were some laugh out loud moments that my husband would look awkwardly at me and I’d have to explain what was so funny. Sloane was a very likable character that I seemed to share many traits with and could relate. She was a spitfire and would tell Logan how it was and I loved that! Logan was a typical “grumpy boss” and “would never fall in love again”. He was very likable from the start and I felt he wasn’t very grumpy around Sloane from the start. The first half of the story was my favorite and I felt the ending was a little rushed. I did enjoy the book and would recommend it however for me it’s a one and done read with an HEA. I’m excited for the rest of the series as this ends on a semi cliff hanger.

Couldn't have enjoyed this more.

I swear Karin gets funnier with every book. Her characters are a delight, and her storylines have everything you could want - unpredictability, lots of heat, love and laughter, and, of course, a few tears.

Looking forward to more of the Valeurs and the reveal of the family secret.

Logan is the first book in Winter's new series, The Valeur Billionaires. This contemporary, billionaire romance features Sloane Harris and Logan Valeur.

Sloane is an employee at Valeur-Tech. She is a brilliant employee who is recognized by her employer with an all expenses paid 3-week holiday in London at the company's flat. Having never left the US, she is very excited and can definitely use a break.

Logan is the company CEO. He is also known as The Dark Lord, the King of Darkness, the Rules of Anger, among others. He is 100% devoted to his father's company. He works incredibly hard and has zero tolerance for ineptitude. He walks around basically scowling, instilling fear in his employees. He has even been included in the list of The Fifty Most Powerful and Cruel CEOs in the World.

When Logan books a trip to London to meet with Aidan Wolfson, the owner of Wolfson Electronics, with the intention of finalizing a deal, he goes to the company flat. Arriving in the dead of night, he promptly heads to his bedroom only to find a woman in his bed. Thinking she's a prostitute arranged by his brother, he barks at her to get out of his apartment so he can get some much needed sleep. After Sloane explains who she is and why she is there, Logan contacts his brother Liam, the company VP, and much more approachable brother.

"The AI program that detects unusual patterns in the skin? Our breakthrough? That's all her. She's the mastermind behind it. She's the reason we need the Wolfson deal."

I sigh and gaze out over the cityscape before glancing behind me to see Sloane still in the kitchen, moving about. "She invented the system?"

"Yes. She's a genius, Logan. She's the future of the company. We can't afford to lose her. Logan you can't scare her. We haven't even finished writing the patent yet."

Liam tells Logan to move to a hotel but Sloane is horrified at the thought of displacing the CEO from his own apartment. They come to an agreement to coexist within the apartment. With Sloane out and about exploring the sights, and Logan in town for business, the two won't likely bump into each other... or will they?

The author incorporates forced proximity and fake dating into a boss/employee dynamic with a healthy dose of the grumpy/sunshine trope and has delivered a highly entertaining and captivating story. Logan is a complex character who has some self-worth issues and has not been lucky in love. He spends all his time working himself to the bone. Sloane is bright, beautiful and brilliant, with a splash of sass. I equally love how she babbles random facts when she's nervous, and that stands up for herself, and speaks her mind. I also appreciated the possessive, protective side of Logan that seeps through his rough exterior. At first glace, these two characters are vastly different, and yet they have amazing chemistry together.

There are assorted twists and turns along the way which help keep readers engaged, desperate to know what comes next. In other words, you won't get bored. Winter will keep you on your toes.

I was very excited to learn that Winter's next release in this series will be Lucas Valeur's story, an enemies-to-lovers, marriage of convenience. Count me in!

This story is laugh out loud funny! For you sensitive readers, it's OPEN DOOR so if that offends you, don't proceed.
Sloan is a romantic. Does she know real men aren't like the ones she reads about? Well DUH, but she still loves her book-boyfriends. She's just a very intelligent woman keeping her head down and doing her job.
In her office, all have heard tales of their boss, Logan Valuer, the Dark Lord, but she hopes they're all just stories. No one could be that mean. In the company meeting when she first sees him, she's left speechless by his handsomeness and the way his presence captivates the room. In the same meeting when they announce that she's won a trip with accommodations to London, she's overjoyed!
Logan only wants a few things in life, one being a competent employee. He's not as bad as his brother says, he just likes efficiency, hard work ethics and punctuality.
He needs to go on a trip to London to close a deal in person, to show the company's growth or the company is done for.
His family wants him to settle down, not that he's against it. His money and name draw women to him in droves but none he'd ever contemplate having a family with.
It's not until both of them get to London that they realize they're in the same apartment. The moment they find out is as embarrassing as it is hilarious.
Logan notices, among other things, how truly beautiful she is.
She's fantasized about him, very recently, and now he's here, with her, alone.
She's his employee. He's her boss. To act on anything else would be the mother of bad ideas and the company can't afford to lose her.
Their solution? To both stay in the apartment together. Yeah, that never causes a problem.
She may be a gentle soul but she gives him what for and he. .enjoys it. The longer they're together, the more they gravitate towards each other. Suddenly a fake relationship is needed to seal the deal but is what's between them really fake or can they pull it off so well they fool even themselves?
I truly enjoyed Sloane's character. The way she thinks and reacts is a hoot! Take my word for it, in the beginning you won't like Logan but he does show tremendous growth and Sloane is just what he needs.
I only gave it 4 1/2 stars because it ends in a cliffhanger/HFN.

I had the honor to read and review Logan by Karin Winters. This book had so many ups and downs that I couldn't escape it. I loved how Karin wrote Sloane at the start off Of the book. She was very much, very much a loner. She had a couple of friends, but she had been hurt. Still, at the same time, she's a genius. She is one of the hardest people to work in the company that she works for. Still, she has a naughty side and loves to read smut. Her ex-boyfriend was caught cheating on her with her friend from work, and now he's texting and calling and sending flowers, trying to win her back, and she's not going for it. But little does she know that her world is fixing to change because she's fixing to win a contest at her company that she works for three weeks paid Vacation in London at the company's Apartment.
The main male character. He is also the CEO of The company. His name is Logan Valeur, and he is a workaholic. He is also known by the names Sloane gives him: the dark lord, the king of darkness, and the ruler of anger. He doesn't believe in love. He's been hurt by a girl that he thought loved him, but he finds out she was just using his money. and starts to blackmail him. he ends up having to go to London for a business meeting but forgets that Sloane is at the apartment and gets in and finds her in his bed.
Sloane and Logan decided to have a little fun. But both say what happens in London will stay in London. When they return, both of them are fighting feelings, and she tries to go by what they promised.
I loved in the book that Karin writes a a personal dedication to Salone like Logan made her do it. It was just an excellent little touch, and it made me smile. this book
I recommend this to anyone looking for a romance with a very broody but workaholic billionaire who falls in love with one of his company's employees. The main female character is powerful and not weak.
I hope the author tells the story of each member of Logan's family because I would love to know what happens to his sister and brother and if they find love.

Logan by Karin Winters is a captivating romance that masterfully blends classic tropes like forced proximity, boss-employee dynamics, billionairel and fake dating into a story that keeps readers hooked from start to finish. The book introduces us to Logan, a billionaire with a secret, and Sloan, a sharp-tongued and fiercely intelligent woman who’s learned to mask her brilliance in a world that doesn’t always welcome it.

One of the standout elements of Logan is its playful banter, particularly during the scenes set in London. The chemistry between Logan and Sloan crackles with tension and wit, making their interactions a highlight of the book. Their relationship, built on a foundation of fake dating, feels both entertaining and authentic as it evolves.

Winters also explores the theme of intelligence—how it’s perceived and how it’s often masked, especially by women who fear standing out too much. Sloan’s struggle with this is relatable, and it adds a layer of depth to her character that many readers will appreciate.

The story takes several unexpected turns, keeping readers on their toes. is a surprising reveal that adds complexity to his character and his relationships. And just when you think you’ve got the plot figured out, the twist involving Johnny at the end will leave you reeling. Winters proves she’s not afraid to shake things up, and the result is a book that feels fresh and unpredictable.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning the dedication at the end of the book. It’s spoiler to reveal this but is so so good!

ALogan by Karin Winters is a smart, sexy, and surprising romance that delivers on all fronts. With well-crafted characters, sharp dialogue, and twists that keep you guessing, it’s a book that’s sure to leave a lasting impression.

Apparently brilliant software engineer Sloane is awarded a three week all expense paid vacation to London after a successful AI campaign. Awakened in the wee hours of her first morning after arriving, she finds herself faced to face with a very angry and jet lagged corporate boss with a reputation for being cold and cruel, and devastatingly handsome.

Stunned to find his brother has arranged for one of their software developers to stay in his London flat for the duration of his UK business visit, Logan’s exasperation quickly turns to attraction as he spends more time with the beautiful Sloane. Facing pressure from his father to marry and needing to appear a family man in a committed relationship, Logan decides to have Sloane pretend to be his fiancée to close an important deal. Lines quickly blur and the quiet engineer becomes something more to the ruthless industry leader. Can this fling become something real?

This book started out really well but began to take a turn for the truly absurd about 1/5 of the way through. Specifically, it was difficult to reconcile how a genius as Sloane is described can make so many colossally dunderheaded mistakes such as leaving a bar with a man she just met with no agreed upon destination until they’re away from the bar. Of course she’s somehow stunningly beautiful but completely unaware of it, and also “not like other women” because she’s so super intelligent and Logan’s never cared for anyone as much as her, you get the idea. There was plenty of steam which is why I gave it a solid three stars, but in terms of tenor and tone, it missed the mark, neither angsty nor lighthearted.

I was furnished an advance reader copy from the author and booksprout, and I’m sharing my honest impressions.

4.5 stars for Logan and Sloane's story.

Logan is the "scary" CEO for his family's company. He's grumpy, harsh and secretive.
Sloane works at Valeur as a programmer and is a genius top employee.

Sloane wins the top employee award and wins 3 weeks in London on an all expense paid trip from Valeur. Logan is chasing a business deal that Sloane was the lead programmer on and ends up in London as well. He goes to the family home in London which is where Sloane is, not knowing that is where she's staying. She decides they can stay in the same place since they won't see each other anyway--she's out sight-seeing all day and he will be working. But that's not what happens. He ends up needing Sloane to play his fake girlfriend for this client to help secure this deal and she agrees. He's so tightly closed up and she is able to open him up a little to where they both enjoy spending time together. Well, yes, they end up together but it was only supposed to be a one and done. Until he disagrees.

There are many twists to this story. It was funny, spicy, heartwarming and there is a mystery involved in this too because someone is out for the Valeur family. The story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger if you want to know who is out for this family. The couple though? Well, it implies the HEA (I didn't feel a solid closure for them yet--maybe that's just me).

I enjoyed the read and I am invested on finding out who is out for the family. I really enjoyed how this couple came together. Logan did have a huge turn-around in personality with Sloane and I did love that!

Sometimes all it takes is someone to really stop and look at you, to make it feel like they can see what's hiding behind your eyes, beyond the person you present for everyone to see.

Logan is well developed, a cranky disposition that makes me smile, and a dedication that reminds us all the importance of a work-life balance.

Sloane is naturally anxious, but extremely intelligent. She's not aggressive, but she's also not passive. Her first instinct might be to shy away, but as soon as she realizes it she stands up for herself. She doesn't care what anyone thinks about her, and it's one of my favorite things about her. She's not over-the-top.

The plot had some depth, the characters well developed, and it was more than just a surface read. I really enjoyed the topic you read at the end when Logan calls in his father and siblings to talk, after talking alone with his father not long before that.

This book is great for someone who likes workplace romance (although this takes place outside of the office they are still boss and employee), strong characters, a book with some depth, and a book that has a story that flows and doesn't drag on or go in the same circles. If you're not sold by the end of the first chapter (or really the first page!), then put it down and don't try to push through. If you do get sucked in on the first page, and can't put it down at the end of the chapter, then find someplace to curl up because you won't put the book down until it's over.

The first in a connected series. A light hearted, spicy story that ends in a cliff hanger. It follows the usual formula for the billionaire CEO trope and reads surprisingly similar to others I have read.

You know, spoiler alert, with the bossy MMC, Logan, saying he can't get involved with his employee, then believing he's unloveable, and, at the same time, having an ex who's blackmailing him with secrets only she knows about. All the while he lusts after his employee and, despite everything, still ends up railing said employee.

The FMC, Sloane, gets put in a temporary forced proximity situation with boss, Logan, away from the work place where their attraction blooms. Back in their usual routine their relationship stops, that is until it bubbles over again, and they get caught in a compromising situation which changes everything for both MCs. Throw in a couple of jealous exes, a damming video, and a mysterious saboteur and you have this book.

It's a very character driven story, peppered with plenty of shots of spice. As usual for Winters, the writing is engaging and concise, the characters real and relatable, the workplace a place you've visited in many of these novels.

If you're a regular for the billionaire trope you'll find comfort in the familiarities here. If this is your first trip then you've come to the right place.

Giving four stars but worth 4.5.

“Logan looks like he belongs in the pages of a dark romance—the ones I hesitate to read because they sound too intimidating.”

Sloane is the MVP at the company she works for, and Logan is the gorgeous, yet grumpy CEO. She wins the award for MVP and earns a stay in London at the corporate apartment. It just so happens that at the same exact time, Logan arrives to close the deal for the software she invented. She’s slightly terrified of him, even if he does make her pulse race. He’s completely indifferent to her, or so it seems. She offers the solution to them both staying in the apartment by suggesting she take the second bedroom and stay out of his way. It’s not at all surprising that they both will find that impossible.

Logan is moody, hostile, and his volatile nature is the complete opposite of Sloane’s quiet, nearly shy, and reserved personality. They’re fire and ice, but her fire is melting his ice quite nicely. Their characters are perfectly matched. The tropes of grumpy/sunshine, close proximity, office romance make Logan an enjoyable read in what promises to be a great series about the Valeur family. Bonus: Lucas’s book is coming soon, and I am so looking forward to his story!

What a compelling, complex and steamy book this is. From reading the first page to closing the book at the end you become engrossed and compelled to keep reading. Sloane is happy in her job after leaving her ex and previous job she feels settled. Little does she know her whole life is about to be upturned. Winning a trip to London and accommodation at the companies apartment when she's never left the states before is a dream come true. Or is it. Logan knows how everyone talks about him, but he doesn't care what others think all he's concerned about is his families company. As CEO he has a responsibility to protect the company at all cost. When his trip to London ends up with an employee staying in his apartment. To say he's unhappy is an understatement. Can they work together to win a contract he's trying to gain. Or will The Dark Lord as his employees call him (among other things) fire Sloane on the spot. The chemistry and passion between these two is unmistakable. But can they overcome the hurdles and secrets or will it all prove to much. I loved this story so much both main characters have their own insecurities and doubts, but together bring out the other side of their personality. Karin builds the story perfectly and yet still leaves you with a cliff hanger lat the end. What a perfect story and I can't wait for this next book in this new series

Logan has a reputation for being ice cold and is feared by those who work for him. Sloane is one of his employees who only sees him for the first time after working for him for a year, and she is instantly captivated. By chance they end up sharing Logan’s apartment in London and he takes the decision to ask her to pretend to be his girlfriend in order to close an important business deal. As they get to know each other, they realise that there is more than just a physical attraction between them but have agreed that what happens in London stays in London. The author brings to life two complex characters who have past trauma and vulnerabilities and anxieties to contend with but who open up to each other as their relationship develops. Their banter is witty and sizzling and the heat level between them is off the charts. This is way above the standard fake relationship story, and the drama and angst added along the way make this a book you won’t be able to put down. Recommended for readers who love brilliant dialogue, strong characters, twists and turns and very steamy scenes.

Sloan and Logan

Sloane was easy to like. She’s brilliant, intelligent, educated and she gets along with everyone. She broke up with her boyfriend because he was cheating so her standards are high and she stands up for herself. She’s very likable. Logan was difficult to like, mainly because being so unlikeable was a deliberate choice on his part. He doesn’t even try to be civil and seems to wallow in being a jerk. So these two are so dissimilar and yet, they fall in love and have their HEA. It wasn’t an easy HEA for either of them and there wasn’t a 3rd act breakup in this book so yay to the author for not using that tiresome plot device. It just took a lot of work for it to happen. Dual POV. No cheating. A little OW drama but she’s a bit superficial so it’s obvious it won’t go anywhere. A good bit of steam in the smex. No cliffhanger but there’s an ongoing mystery that wasn’t resolved in this book and it looks like it’ll continue in the next book with Logan’s bro, Lucas. Can’t wait.

This was an ARC read. This review has spoilers.

This was a captivating, page turning, hot and sexy book that I couldn't put down. I really enjoyed the storyline, the tension, the characters, and the hot scenes are hot.

Sloane is beautifully pictured as the light to Logan's dark. It was beautiful to watch as Logan broke through his darkness to realize he is lovable. From enemies to lovers, their relationship builds and grows through the book. There is a lot of tension building, but a good amount of humor as well. I could picture these characters in my mind.

The hanging pieces tie together nicely at the end. One of my favorite parts was the scene where Logan and his dad are talking and his dad encourages Logan to pursue Sloane. His dad opened up and shared some strong emotions, especially in regards to how he feels he failed Logan's mom.

This book does end on a cliffhanger, which had me yelling at the end. I can't wait for the next book.

Great start to this series.

Sloane has her dream job working at Valeur Tech when she wins an opportunity of a lifetime, a free trip to London. After a messy breakup a year before she swore off men so when Logan Valeur unexpectedly walks into the same apartment she is staying in, she is surprised by how much he gets under her skin and how much she wants him to stick around.
When he asks her to be his fake girlfriend to help with his business deal she doesn’t expect to enjoy spending time with him.

Logan is the CEO of the company Sloan works for and comes across extremely intimidating to all employees. Sloan finds herself winning a best employee contest and a vacation to London. However, mistakes are made and both Logan and Sloan find themselves staying at the company apartment at the same time. At the advice of his brother, Logan offers to leave and stay at a hotel. However Sloan refuses and says they can share as they both wouldn't really be there at the same time any between her vacation plans and his work schedule. However, they do find themselves together and that they have chemistry. Not wanting to risk her job, or the reputation of the company, they both fight their feelings.. until they can't. What happens next takes them on an adventure to find out if what they have could be a lasting relationship.

He is the imposing CEO of the family company. She is brilliant engineer who works for the company. They accidentally find themselves both staying in company owned accommodations at the same time and figure out how to get along. They have strong chemistry that keeps drawing them to each other despite knowing the risks. The character development is good for both mains. His family and family dynamic is definitely more explored as it is part of the plot. You see their strengths and vulnerabilities. It was well written and while the plot had some curves, it stayed pretty much on point to them figuring out their relationship. There was some language and descriptors that didn't flow naturally or came off as not "normal American vernacular" but overall it was an enjoyable read.

Oh I loved this book so much! It is so nice that it is about a woman who works as a software developer and is very successful at it. Love the woman empowering!

I love the grumpy billionaire/sunshine trope, so nice to see Logan melt for this woman. as an experienced reader of smutty romances, I can already see where the story is going and I kicked my feet and giggled at the plot twists. I fell in love with Logan so fast and so hard. Beneath the hard shell is an insecure and gentle sensitive man that you do have to love.

I really liked the story, the plot twists, the pace, the writing style, the characters, the spice! I loved it all. I had not read anything by Karin Winters before but I am definitely going to read her other books as well as the others in this series! I can't wait!

Fantastic book

I really enjoyed this book. At first, I did not like Logan because he was so cold hearted. Sloane is a smart, funny, and romantic at heart woman. I love how smart she is. She also realistic and didnt have the best ex boyfriend.

This is a bit of a close proximity romance when Sloane is awarded an all expense paid trip to London staying at the corporate apartment while Logan needs to go to London to close a deal. Oh the fun and steam starts there!

But reality sets in and they are back to work. Can Logan admit his feelings for Sloane? And will Sloane admit she also has feelings for Logan? Can they fight through their insecurities and secrets to get their HEA? Will their exes be successful in keeping them apart?

There is a force that is trying to bring down the family. Who is it and why? I can't wait to read the next book to find out more!
