Being allowed to attend school in North America is a dream come true for the 18 year old Delilah, a Middle-Eastern beauty, who would have otherwise been consigned to a life in a household run by her authoritarian father.
As a coed at an exclusive East Coast women's college, she benefits from the good education and her newfound freedom, out from under her father's strict rule. She especially delights in dressing in Western clothes and showing off her well-developed body. Thus, it's not long before Delilah sheds her virginity, and dives into the verboten territory of sexual exploration.
It seems that we as humans have a taste for tales of a punitive nature. In the news such stories come across as nothing less than pure horror, however, by their popularity, there must be some sense of titillation. In “Diplomatic Immunity, Part 1” J.G. Leathers cocoons a tale of punishment in a weave of fantasy that allows him to push the details and severity to the absurd. The fantastical element allows the reader to exchange the horror of real suffering for a different kind of horror that cuts deeply into the erotic.
In this tale, 18yo Delilah begins to discover adult oriented hedonistic pleasures which angers and embarrasses her father and his religious leaders. He feels her “crimes” must be punished with an unwavering finality in the form of extensive, permanent bondage, isolation and complete removal of all control. And so, the reader learns, in standard J.G. Leathers’ masterful form, the intimate details of Delilah’s descent into utter captivity.
For those who indulge in other J.G. Leathers stories, this tale follows a familiar course. His stories are generally like boats that take you to a known (expected perhaps?) destination. The differences between his stories seems to exist (to stick with this simile) in the details of the boat. Perhaps it is a yacht - romantically tossed here and there upon waves. Well, then, this story would be nothing less than a container ship moving in a direct line with utter haste. There is no love interest. There is no conflict befuddling the oppressor as Delilah is ushered to her fate. There is only punishment.
So, for those of a particular deviancy and who acknowledge (even the possibility of) the deviancy’s existence, I utterly recommend this book as one of his best. There is a part 2 which I will likely not read because it slips out of my flavor of character makeup. I feel that part 1 is sufficiently concluded. (Although, I do have to wonder if Delilah plays any role in part 2. Message me if you know...)
After completion, I find myself engaged in a particularly philosophical contemplation regarding the nature of the extreme bondage fetish and from whence it originates.
