Demon World Boba Shop #3

Demon World Boba Shop: Vol. 3

Rate this book
It's not just boba now. Together with his friends, Arthur’s at the frontier of the Demon World, building a brand-new town, one stone at a time.

After one particularly stubborn owl won an argument with the system, Arthur blazed a trail with the rest of his friends toward the frontiers of the demon world. All around him is a world untouched by demons. Now, he needs to tame the wilderness into the shape of a town. Luckily, he has help.

Whether it’s Mizu building wells or Milo forging tools, Arthur isn’t alone in his struggles. The days are long and the work is tough, but Arthur is happy to build the town of his dreams. Literally.

The third volume in a cozy, slice-of-life fantasy series, Demon World Boba Shop has been described as “a long, kind hug from someone who loves you without wanting anything from you whatsoever.” It’s a cozy, feel good story, perfect after a long day of work or with a warm (or cold) cup of tea.

Ohhhh man I thought RC Joshua pulled all the stops when he wrote the second book, but uncannily this book was even better! As our intrepid team of young people forge a new path, building a town out of nothing, but their own 2 hands and their skills in the Frontier Territory they come to. And Boba Tea is one of the foundations that the town of Coldbrook will be built on! The first foundation, of friends and comradery that are bound together by Tea and it's warming ability... The book has such a great ending that it could actually be the end of a perfect trilogy but luckily for the readers that want to see what else Demon World has to offer RC Joshua promises more books on the horizon!

Arthur and his friends work to develop a new frontier settlement. New challenges arise, friends are made, and meaningful celebrations are had.

Not as much of a cozy read as its predecessors, since Arthur and his friends now must learn to traverse through the trials and tribulations of frontier life. Things aren't as laid back as they once were which is a very natural progression in life.

Arthur is still learning about this world and takes on many new responsibilities in this book. He wrestles with the idea that he is important and loved, and that he is worthy of it all. Something I think a lot of readers, myself included, can relate to.

These Demon World Boba books are like a drug to me. Arthur's story continues in this third book, with him starting his life in this new town of which he is mayor. Like the other two books, things happen but are never stressful. There is a delightful sprinkling of fake game statistics amid all the life stories.

Knowing how stressful family can be I felt genuinely worried that Mizu's mom would be the first time I'd have to bow out of this series but like the rest of this book, she only wants the best for those she loves and only in the most loving way.

While the first book remains my favorite, I genuinely cannot recommend the series as a whole enough. I literally got excited when I got a notification on my phone that the third was out. I rushed the book I was reading so I could start it immediately.

These books are like Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing in book farm. I just love them.

Two halves make a whole.

This wonderful book is basically in two sections.

The first is getting the town settled and the community up and running. There are some interesting developments and discoveries and it all makes the town look like a nice place to live.

The second half is the wedding. Arthur blends, in his Arthur way, the best elements of his old world with those of his new world to give his settlement their first major celebration as a joined, united, community dedicated to the growth and happiness of all.

Looking forward to the next book! Cheers!

PS I have a question. Clearly it does not matter when two different types of demons marry and have families. This builds families, but not species. Ella, the bird, marries Minos the goat and they have Milo the bird who marries Rhodia the mouse. Families.

So how does things work with the water demons. Apparently there was a large number of them and they were at war with someone else. And they passed down a common heritage based on their history.

We don’t see this in any of the other demon types.

I am curious to see how how our Author moves on with the water demon heritage in later books.

Alright so I seem to be having trouble putting these books down as I read more of them. I got to about 50% through yesterday and realized, as I got ready to read before bed, that I was going to do the rest in a marathon sprint because I had to know what happened.

I liked book 1 and book 2. The expansion of scope in book 2 led to the premise for this book and I was all in on the premise.

This continues on being wholesome and heartwarming and about found family, but at the same time there is a capability for a bit more of a story driven plot. This combines to give plenty of scenes driving characters and relationships forward and letting everyone grow in a way the City wasn't giving them. It also sets up the future in ways that seem like they'll be a lot of fun.

This was a full on 5 star read for me. I couldn't put it down. The culminating events I wanted to finish before I was willing to sleep. That doesn't happen often for me.

Beautiful

I have absolutely devoured these books as they’ve come out. This series has been a warm hug from someone who loves you but who you haven’t interacted with very much. Someone whom you barely know but really looks at you and tells you they love you and then hugs you. It’s an indescribable sense of feel good. Found family and belonging are the words I would use to describe this series. I look forward to the future books! After finishing this book, I urge everyone to please read the author’s note. I cried.

Sorry for the rant, it’s almost 4am here so I am a little emotional anyway :)

Progress & Shenanigans

This book managed to include so many details and events in a very average amount of pages. While there was not as much tea making as the first two books the tea making that happened was definitely something special. I really enjoyed reading about how they build a whole town from the ground up and the earth things that Arthur continues to bring into this world. This book had some especially wild Arthur shenanigans that befuddled absolutely everyone as usual but they were very fun shenanigans. I can’t wait to watch this town continue to grow and to see what happens next!

Fluffy Fuzzy Adventure Continues

Just like the first two, we see Arthur grow even more into himself, and we get to watch the advent of a new Demon generation becoming as they build the new town. This is the fluffiest slice of life series I've found, and it's absolutely worth the read. And as a bonus, we readers may come away with life lessons for ourselves. As Arthur learns that he is enough as he is, those are bits of wisdom that some of us need to hear on occasion too. So get ready for some good feelings, both about the story and about yourself.

A fantastic volume for a fantastic series

I thoroughly enjoyed this comfy slice of life isekai series. I hope to continue reading more.

If you enjoyed the previous two volumes, I expect you'll enjoy this one. It picks up right after the last volume.

I hope the author continues the series.

a wholesome book

After reading the third book in the series I can say that the main disjointer stopping the book and the series from getting five stars is the concept of cozy.

The book is well written the character fun and lovely and the story is Intresting, however it is deciding not cozy.

It is however wholesome and that is fine to.

Still absolutely charming. Now we have a new town and pleasant problem solving in a new place. Less tea stuff going on (a shame), but otherwise still nice.

At this point I am straining under the heteronormativity of it all, but it does not quite reach Stepford Wives levels of creepiness, so I think I can bear it.

I don't often give books 5 stars. I think the author does exactly what they want to do perfectly. I can't wait for the next one.

I've also never tried boba, and every time I read these books I want some.

3.5 ⭐️ I cannot wait to see how the history books in their world try to describe Arthur and his do-gooder attitude, cluelessness, and basically being chosen by the gods (or as close as you can get in their world

Still sweet and enjoyable. This world of found family just wraps you in a hug. Having solid community with this group just feels right. I like the direction the series is going. There were a handful of errors that I noticed that could be easily fixed, it didn’t take away from the story overall.

This one has them starting up a new town. It's a new adventure and so much fun!
The only thing I wish we had more info on was timeline. How long has Arthur been in the demon world at this point?

I really don't have the right words to express how much I love this series, but I like it so much that I actually had to go and finish book 4 before I could pause to write this review on #3. It has all the joys and wonder of the fantasy genre but is still wonderfully low stress and cozy. I love fantasy, but I read as an escape and win my escape. It makes me sob my eyes out... It's not very effective. Thankfully, that's not a problem with this series. I really can't emphasize this enough, but despite the slice-of-life element, this book is not boring. There's always something going on, whether it's something funny, exciting, or a bit troublesome, it will certainly keep your attention and keep you happy. I also am so so happy that they're a good length, nothings worse than getting into a hook only for it to be over bc its only 125 pages, nope, these are end up being a little under 400 pages and I still devour them in less than a day. Anyone reading this review likely already knows it's a great series since it's the 3rd book, but still, I just have to say how much I love it.

Are you burned out, stressed, suffering insomnia? This series was made for you. These books gave me so much relief and escape from reality. Very comforting reads that I enjoyed so much! I tried to read as slowly as I could, dipping into it whenever I really needed it, but sadly I finally finished it. Thankfully the author's notes say he is going to add to the series. I will definitely be reading them!
