With their home in tatters and Bea's illness worsening, hard decisions about the future of the homestead must be made. Meanwhile, Jed and Chris face down new challenges on the final leg of their journey home in book 5 of Yesterday's End.

In Michigan's upper peninsula, a mother and her two children quietly work on their family farm, unaware of the death and devastation that is soon to come.

In Las Vegas at a business conference, the family's father barely survives the first wave of horror - but his safety is anything but assured.

The #1 best-selling and most prolific post-apocalyptic author - with over 3.5 million books sold - Mike Kraus is back, writing with Paula Lester to bring you a tale of survival and courage in the face of overwhelming odds.

A massive storm bears down on Texas, unleashing tornadoes and hurricane force winds that level entire buildings, including a food processing plant that is unknowingly storing a large quantity of dimethlmercury - a devastingly dangerous neurotoxin.

As this toxin is swept into the atmosphere and spread across the country by the storm system, millions who are in its path die from exposure - but the worst is yet to come. Before the storms hit, the processing plant inadvertently shipped the mercury across the country, resulting in a contamination of processed foods unlike anything in history.

As the death toll rises astrononically across the country from both the toxic storms and poisoned food, any survivors are faced with a simple how can they possible survive?

This continues a good series. It is generally well writing with just a few editing issues (example "Kyle’s gone, be we aren’t"-should be , but we aren't). I learned long ago (from The Walking Dead and other shows) that if you have a problem person and you don't permanently deal with them, they will come back to bite you. So true of Kyle. I'm interested in the outcome of Bea's illness from a small exposure to dimethylmercury as the treatment may be significant to fixing this (??)(maybe). I look forward to book 6.

Devastated - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Yesterday's End Book 5 by Paula Lester and Mike Kraus, is the dramatically entitled Engulfed.
On the Waites' homestead Mom Bea, together with children Bax and Delia, plus her parents Mike and Jane, work tirelessly to fortify and protect their home, in the face of coming dangers, both Natural and human. What happens when Bea leaves to get medical help?

Dad Jed, his colleague Chris, plus Ernie and Evelyn have almost completed their incredible trek to reunite with their loved ones...but they're not quite out of danger yet.

This series just gets better with each progressive novel, so don't miss the chance to see where this breath-taking adventure will end up and grab your copy of Devastated right now!

Yesterday's End gets more intense!

Devastated, like all of the books in the Yesterday's End series, tells the ongoing saga of the Waite clan, separated across the country from one another when monster storms cause the release of massive amounts of dimethylmercury, which poisoned the air, water and soil of the US. Picking up right where book 4 left off, with Bea's parents arriving to find the homestead on fire and Bea in rapidly declining health. Devastated features the 2 most intense sequence in the series so far nd ends on just as much of a cliffhanger as the prior books in the series. This apocalypse just keeps getting better! 5/5 hard earned stars.
