An excellent short introduction to mysticism, featuring the very helpful lens (provided by Friedrich von Hügel) that shows mysticism as one of three elements of religion (along with speculation and tradition). It takes up (and takes a stand on) the nature of mystical "union with God" - a digression which does not harm the book's flow. Nor is its light dimmed by its Christian perspective. Well written and a good door in to the topic.
