A lovely box set of nine novellas. At the moment I’ve only read one & am saving the rest for over the festive season
Betrothed by Christmas – Bronwen Evans Eleanor Tinsdale, the widowed Marchioness of Claremont, has resigned herself to a life of loneliness to protect her son from his overbearing guardian. But when her neighbour, the dashing Duke of Hampton, Ambrose Foxhill, seeks her help with his daughter, Eleanor’s world is turned upside down. As Christmas approaches, a sprig of mistletoe and two mischievous children conspire to bring Eleanor and Ambrose together. I loved it, he proposes a marriage of convenience but their children have other ideas, An absolute delight & left me with a smile on my face I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
What a great Anthology. Heather's story has Minnie and Frederick, who suddenly realises that Minnie isn't just a convenient choice but could be the love of his life. Minnie finds that sex can be glorious Elizabeth's Beatrice: a Baker in America and Noel a Soldier with lovely descriptions of her pastries. Bronwen has Eleanor and Ambrose: he has left his daughter regularily and hopes that he can build a more loving relationship and then Caroline's Guinevere and Adrian was a particular favourite. Adrian was a great honorable hero who starts to realise that he needs to help Gwen and her cat get back to her ill grandma. I liked that Gwen was her own person, though dealt a poor situation she was able to rise above it. I wasn't sure of Eliza's names of Ember and Dahl but the story was interesting. Barbara's fairy dog is delightful and for such a short tale it's packed with love, community and true friendship a bit of a cinderella vibe but so insightful. Often with Anthologies there's an excellent start that petters off towards the end but this one was pure gold all the way through.

I enjoyed the stories by Elizabeth Cole, Caroline Linden, Eliza Lloyd, and Lana Williams very much. A few of the rest were forgettable, but one, by a famous author, was unforgettable for the wrong reasons. Even a skilled editor, adept at correcting the many instances of incorrect words (closets v. closest, he v. her, etc.), bad grammar, and lapses, including modern English language, probably could not save the story. I’m still glad to have read stories by authors I had already admired, and to have found new authors to follow.
A wonderful group of Christmas stories. All different and all enjoyable. Some may become my very best favorites as my Aunt used to say. Put yourself in the holiday spirit and Enjoy.
This is quite a lovely collection of nine diverse novellas. Some include historical events and issues, a few deal with lost loves and second chances, while others speak of house parties, societal expectations and supernatural interventions. Snow appears in each tale. Sometimes it is a catalyst creating delays, trapping people together, a venue for play, or just a pretty view. You will find raw emotions, steamy encounters, hints of danger and a plethora of diverse and entertaining characters. Each story is well written, captivating and skillfully told, leaving you wanting more. This is the kind of collection that includes stories you will return to again and again. Loved it!
Once Tempted - Heather Boyd Minerva and Frederick Twenty-five year old Minerva lived with her brother Humphrey and ran his household quite efficiently. He was currently throwing a Christmas house party, and while he was carousing with his friends, she was doing all the work. Humphrey bet his good friend Frederick that he could bed the widowed and newly out of mourning Mrs. Franks first, thus setting off a flirting match. Meanwhile Minerva, who always favored Frederick, watched from the sidelines. When she drank too much punch, which her brother had secretly spiked, Frederick stepped in to rescue her reputation. She had always been off limits because she was his friend’s sister, but an homest chat and a few kisses changed that. This story has a few disparaging scenes, hot kisses, a steamy deflowering and a fierce and adorable kitten. Once Frederick’s eyes are opened, he becomes Minerva’s champion and provides the love and life she deserves, while putting Humphrey in his place. Quite delightful!
‘Tis the Season for Seduction - Elizabeth Cole Beatrice and Noel Nothing was the same for Noel after he returned from the war. He had been injured and ill, and had lost his taste for food and even stopped painting. When his doctor and family friend left him a box of chocolates, everything changed. He went to meet Beatrice, the creator of such delights and was smitten. She struggled to believe he cared, as her previous experiences were unpleasant. This story touches on slavery issues, the War of 1812, and loneliness. It is emotional, has heavy issues and sweet moments. Enjoyable and thought provoking. I really liked this story.
Betrothed by Christmas - Bronwen Evans Eleanor Tinsdale, and Ambrose Foxhill, Duke of Hampton, Ambrose, the Duke of Hampton lived across the street from the widow Eleanor and her young son Harry. Before he died, Harry’s father appointed strict, demanding and controling Lord Redington to be his guardian causing Eleanor to live in fear of Lord Redington taking Harry away from her. Meanwhile Ambrose’s wife, whom he dearly loved, had left him for another man. Ambrose was devastated. To distract himself, each December Ambrose threw a wild multi-day bachelor party commencing around the date that his wife left. During this time, his daughter Lillian went to stay with Eleanor and Harry. Several things happened to make this year different. Ambrose finally received a divorce and thought about remarrying. Eleanor defied Lord Redington’s directive that she send Harry to him for the holidays, and Harry and Lillian decided that their two parents should marry each other. Even though she knew that her father was hosting a party, Lillian kept sending him requests that he join them for their outings. This put Ambrose and Eleanor together quite often. After a kiss beneath the mistletoe led to other things, Ambrose decided that a marriage of convenience with Eleanor would do nicely. Knowing that it would save Harry from Lord Redington’s influence, she accepted even though she wanted a love match. It took a near death experience for Ambrose to realize his feelings for Eleanor. There is a lot of emotion, self-doubt and soul searching in this story. The children are a delight and their role in getting the two adults together is paramount. There is one steamy scene followed by a show of force that is quite thrilling. The characters are strongly depicted and it is very easy for the reader to become invested in their lives. I loved that two good people who were married to selfish jerks got to have their happy ending … and the epilogue is just adorable.
Make My Wish Come True - Caroline Linden Gwen and Captain Adrian Fitzhugh Upon receiving a letter stating that her grandmother was very sick, Gwen requested a two week leave from her governess position to go visit her. She was fired, denied her wages and sent packing. It was quite a trip and when she got to an inn where she was to meet a coach for the last leg of her journey, it had already left. Now she was stranded in bad weather with little money, hungry and not sure where she was going to sleep until the next coach came the following afternoon. A gentleman sent tea and soup to her and when she thanked him she noticed his red military coat under his overcoat. It turned out he was heading the same way she was and he offered her a ride. And so the adventure began. Captain Adrian Fitzhugh was hurrying home to see his grandfather, who was reportedly at death’s door. However, the weather was not cooperating, vascillating between snow and sleet. They were forced to stop and ended up pretending to be a married couple while taking refuge and sleeping at the vicarage. Things got steamy and then the next day he dropped her off at her Gran’s house and continued on to his home to see his grandfather. He realized right away that he was missing something, but it took him several days before he could retrieve it. I really liked this story. Gwen and Aiden are adorable together and he just seems captivated by her. Their conversations and banter flow easily and there is an underlying comfort between them. There are a lot of sad things mentioned, yet neither of them stay bogged down. It is charming and leaves you with a smile.
Wicked Flames - Eliza Lloyd Ember and Trenton James, the Earl of Dahlingford Ember was a widow with three sons and a pristine reputation. She had been married for twelve years to a uninspiring man her father had picked for her. As a teenager, her love was Trenton James, now the Earl of Dahlingford…and a renown rake. He approached and propositioned her at the Pelham ball shortly after he released his most recent mistress. She rebuffed him. They next met at the Pelham’s Christmas house party where she received an unexpected Court Ordered Judgment citing unpaid bills. It became evident that the man of business, who had faithfully served her husband, had embezzled her fortune. Trenton came to the rescue and escorted her back to town where he took care of her business. She had promised him what she believed he wanted, a night in her bed, as a thank you. She had no idea that it would lead to such pleasure. This story has such a sad undercurrent. The past hurts and events that had shaped their lives had stolen so much joy from both of them. In order to cope, she focused on her children and he bedded every willing woman around. Yet underneath all of that, they pined for each other. I really enjoyed it, even if it is a bit heartbreaking. It is well written, steamy, has intriguing characters, a few surprises and a happy ending.
A Betrothal Before Christmas - Suzanne Madeiros Millicent (Millie) and Viscount Carlisle Millie’s father had told her that she could have a Season in London this spring, so when he called her into his study for a private chat, she expected him to discuss the Season with her. Instead he told her that there was no reason for a Season as he had already had an offer of marriage for her. She freaked out and left the study in dismay and anger. Seeking the advice of her best friend Sarah, Millie snuck out and began the walk to her friend’s house. It started to flurry and then began to snow harder. When she arrived, she was cold, wet and her teeth were chattering. Upon arrival, she discovered that Sarah and her mother were visiting relatives for Christmas. Only her brother Viscount Carlisle was home. The storm required her to stay the night, and she was thrilled to be spending time with the man of her dreams, although she had never told him that. One thing led to another and they were both in for a big surprise. This is a sweet story with a lovely twist at the end.
The Recluse and the Runaway - Barbara Monajem Nell and Sir Rupert This is a delightful combination of Cinderella and a love at first sight story. Overhearing her stepmother’s plot to accuse her of theft, Nell collected a few of her things and ran away. Sir Rupert, with the help of a newly rescued dog, found her exhausted and shivering, and brought back to his home where she filled in for the ailing cook, by assisting to prepare the Christmas dinner. With a little help from mistletoe, love was declared along with a marriage proposal and a promise of protection. When univinted guests disrupted the celebration, chaos ensued. The author does a great job of presenting the stepsisters and stepmother as villians, which only serves to showcase Nell’s kindness in the face of their nastiness. Rupert and the two maids are just adorable, and there is an unexpected revelation at the end. This is a quick and heartwarming tale.
A Bride Before Christmas - Ella Boyd Margaret and Septimus (Son of the Duke of Somerset) This is a story filled with lavish plans in an attempt to outwit a villian. The Duke of Somerset wanted a piece of property owned by Margaret Sutton. When his plan to have his son Sextus marry her was thwarted, he offered up another one of his sons named Septimus, who happened to be in Canada on a mission for the Home Secretary. When Septimus returned earlier than expected, his oldest brother and his wife, along with another couple shuffled him off the a country estate where he was to meet his soon-to-be betrothed. Two things were happening simultaneously. Margaret and Septimus were getting better acquainted to see if they would suit, and the other two couples were working on getting them married before the Duke found a way to interfere. This is a cleverly told tale with steamy moments and a lot of thrilling machinations. It is fast-paced, entertaining and most enjoyable!
Snowbound with the Earl - Lana Williams Olivia and Hugh Allerton, the Earl of Darnworth Olivia’s mother was very ill and her father was distracted by his tinkering, leaving her to care for them both. On her way home from the village apothecary, she stumbled upon an unconscious man lying by the side of the road. She roused him enough to tell him that she would go for help, leaving her cloak to keep him warm. When she returned, he was gone and so was her only cloak. Hugh Allerton, the new Earl of Darnworth was riding to the Ballard’s country estate when his horse got spooked and threw him. His head hit a rock, rendering him unconscious. He was on the way to meet Lord Ballard, who had been a good friend of his now deceased uncle from whom he had inherited the Earldom. As Hugh never expected to become Earl, he was relying in Lord Ballard’s tutelage. The Ballards were throwing a Christmas house party, and having advised Hugh that he needed a well-connected wife to help him navigate his new role, they invited Lady Ellen Pitney, the daughter of the Earl of Stratton, for the sole purpose of meeting Hugh. Lord Ballard insisted that she was the lady he should marry. However, Hugh couldn’t stop thinking about the young woman who stopped to help him, and was astonished when Olivia, accompanied by her Aunt Ester, a good friend of Lady Ballard, arrived at the party. They spent a good deal of time together before Lady Ellen showed up, her family having been delayed by the significant snowfall. Lord Ballard pushed Hugh to offer for Lady Ellen’s hand, but Hugh wasn’t sure he could live with her haughtiness and constant need for attention…even if ahe was well-connected. I love that goodness and kindness prevailed over “shoulds” and egocentrism. Hugh’s vulnerability and strength of character make him a swoon-worthy catch, as does his unwillingness to capitulate to peer pressure. He trusted and followed his heart. Olivia is such a kind, generous, selfless and loving individual who is quite deserving of a happy ending. This is an endearing and uplifting story, with hot kisses and one steamy encounter.

This regency holiday romance anthology set includes delightfully charming and lovely stories by nine famous authors. The stories tell of second chance, enemies to lovers, a wounded hero, friends to lovers, and such lovely Christmas romance. I was very entertained and engaged with each of these beautifully written love stories. I enjoyed the Christmas love and romance. I highly recommend reading!
Collection of novellas centered around the Christmas holiday. See the review for individual stories below.
Once Tempted by Heather Boyd - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cute novella with a sweet love story. This was a story Frederick, who falls in love with the spinster sister of his best friend at a house party. The characters were well written, and the main characters were both lovable. There were no villains, just a love story with a happy ending and a little implied steam without actual details.
Tis the season for seduction by Elizabeth Cole - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This novella was about finding love after a lifetime of feeling unworthy, unattractive, and used. It made for a bitter heroine that I didn’t like as much the hero. The story contained real issues, like slavery and the effects it had on businesses. I did like the responsible way of educating people about inequality and its effects on others. Although she was a bitter heroine that looked for the negative, they were able to get the HEA because he was persistent and in love.
Betrothed by Christmas by Bronwen Evans - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sweet story about second chance love.
Make My With the help of their children, two widows fall in love when they least expect it and find a HEA. The characters were well developed and really likable. There was no villain just the fear of getting hurt from love as an obstacle that had to be conquered.
Make My Wish Come True by Caroline Linden - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sweet story with 2 lovable characters. Adrian and Gwen were made for each other. Their witty banter and open relationship helped build the foundation for an instant love story. The dialogue between them had me laughing along with them. My only regret is that it ended too abruptly. I would have enjoyed seeing where the life together took them.
Wicked Flames by Eliza Lloyd - ⭐️⭐️
This novella about second chance love didn't really reinforce the childhood love as much as it displayed a cat and mouse game. Initially, the H just seemed obsessed with sleeping with the h. He came across as callous and insincere. She came off as frigid and stubborn. Their history showed more hurt than love which made it hard to connect with the couple. I am glad they got their HEA, but she seemed resistant to the very end of the story.
A Betrothal for Christmas by Suzanna Medeiros - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sweet novella with lovable characters. The h was funny and endearing. The H seemed to be a gentleman that knew his heart. Fate brought them together in a way that neither expected, and they got their HEA. Explanations of his sister’s behavior could have been explained a little more because I didn’t really like her even though she wasn’t that prominent in the story. I thought the story was cute, and I liked it so much that I would have liked to see a little more into their future together.
The Recluse and the Runaway by Barbara Monajem - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This sweet novella was an interesting little twist on Cinderella with the evil stepmother. Of course, they got their HEA although it wasn't on page.
A Bride Before Christmas by Ella Quinn - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cute novella with a bit of steam. Interesting plot for an arranged betrothal. Margaret and Septimus were great together and both lovable characters. After planning to prevent any obstacles, they got their HEA, but the ending seemed so abrupt and I was left wanting more so I gave 4 stars instead of 5.
Snowbound with the Earl by Lana Williams - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
A cute twist on Cinderella. A woman finds the love she never thought she would at a house party. The story contained nice main characters, a small obstacle, and a HEA after perceived heartbreak. I didn’t feel the ending was complete, and i would have liked a resolution that showed the h would have a figure that didn’t revolve around taking care of her parents and their lives.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was an excellent anthology. There was only one story I did not love, but I still liked it. I would definitely recommend and am looking forward to reading more by these authors.
Once Tempted - This is a woman with a crush on her brother's best friend. I really liked both the H and h and it was a great story.
Tis the Season for Seduction - I enjoyed this story as it takes place in the United States after the war of 1812. The H is a veteran of that war and is brought back to life with the help of the wonderful chocolates that the h makes in her shop. A little insta-love and a great read.
Betrothed by Christmas - A widow who falls for a man she has known for years. Even though they have known each other for a long time, they are finally both ready to fall for each other. Another enjoyable read with both being single parents with children who are scheming to get them together.
Make My Wish Come True - A governess meets a veteran of the war on his way home. Both are trying to go to the same area to visit their sick relatives. They fall for each other one the way. This one had some funny conversations and good moments between the two main characters.
Wicked Flames - This was my least favorite although it was still good. I felt like the beginning there were so many characters I did not know and too many to keep track of. I liked how the h stayed true to herself, although she was mad at the H for something from years ago that was explained.. kind of??? A lot of this story was like that. Very high level on some things and a lot of the story alluded to instead of explained clearly. Not really my personal preference.
A delightful heartwarming collection of holiday stories.
Once Tempted by Heather Boyd Frederick must decide if he would rather compete with his friend for the attention of a particular widow or spend his time Minnie, his best friend’s sister (who should be off limits, right?). It is a surprise which he chooses.
‘Tis the Season for Seduction by Elizabeth Cole Noel doesn’t believe he will ever recuperate from his wounds from the War of 1812. Beatrice Holliday came to Philadelphia from England via Paris and has one of the most popular confectionaries in town. Chocolate, paint, and a game may lead to healing and love.
Betrothed by Christmas by Bronwen Evans Eleanor and Ambrose are both widowed with a young child. Eleanor does what she can to shield her son from his domineering guardian. When Ambrose asks for help with his daughter (a place to stay on occasion), a friendship blossoms between the two families. There is an attraction between Eleanor and Ambrose. The children see this, and decide to help their parents along with a plot and a sprig of mistletoe. Will they succeed? It’s fun to find out. Mistletoe, Christmas magic, family, and love.
Make My Wish Come True by Caroline Linden Gwen lost her position as governess when she requested time off to go to her ailing grandmother. She is stranded on the way in a crowded, rowdy inn. A kind gentlemen offered her assistance. Adrian, is just home from the war in Spain, and on his way to home to see his ailing grandfather. Their journey home affords them the chance to come to know each other. Will their friendship open the way to something more?
Wicked Flames by Eliza Lloyd Ember and Dahl had once been in love, but that was long ago. Dahl hopes to convince her to give him another, for at least a night.
A Betrothal for Christmas by Suzanna Medeiros Hoping for a season, Millie was distressed when her father told he had received an offer for her hand. She rushed to the home of her friend to seek advice. Her friend was not home. She became stranded with Sarah’s brother, Viscount Carlisle. Before the storm lifted, Millie would be pleasantly surprised.
The Recluse and the Runaway by Barbara Monajem Nell appears with a special dog on Rupert’s land. She planned on leaving as soon as possible to avoid being caught by her stepmother. Rupert is determined to help her. This is a Cinderella story with all the pieces including the evil stepfamily and a fairy god(mother)dog.
Bride before Christmas by Ella Quinn The Duke of Somerset is at it again. He tries to arrange a marriage (for something that will benefit him) between Septimus (because Sextus foiled his plan) and Margaret Sutton. The Treavor family plots to foil the old man again. Once they meet, Septimus and Maragret find they might actually like to wed, but not according to the duke’s plan. Let the fun begin.
Snowbound with the Earl by Lana Williams When Olivia tried to rescue a man injured in a fall from his horse, she didn’t realize he was an Earl. Hugh is the new Earl of Darnworth, and is attending a house party to seek advice and instruction from a friend of his late uncle. He and Olivia are surprised and delighted to be at the same house party. Hugh may find the perfect wife at the party, just not the one he expected.
I voluntarily reviewed a special copy of this collection.
A lovely boxset of Christmas romances Once Tempted by Heather Boyd - After drinking too much punch which had been surreptitiously spiked with gin, only the fast action of her brother’s best friend stops Minerva from either embarrassing or ruining herself. Minerva may have meticulously organised her brother’s household and houseparty but as a spinster she cramps his style and that of his scandalous friends. Frederick Stonebeck on the other hand finds himself less concerned about a wager to bed a widow and more interested in spending time with a lady with curves. ‘Tis the Season for Seduction by Elizabeth Cole - An aristocratic lady estranged from her family and living and working in Philadelphia as a confectioner, forms a connection with an artist. The two help each other heal from the wounds of the past. Betrothed by Christmas by Bronwen Evans - Two lonely people find happiness at Christmas with help from their mischievous children and an accident that almost becomes a tragedy. Make My Wish Come True by Caroline Linden - Two strangers travelling home through winter snow to the bedsides of ailing relatives, get stranded and acquainted… Wicked Flames by Eliza Lloyd - Ember and Dahl hurt each other in their youth. Now he is an immoral rake and she a prudish widow. Will a houseparty and a downtown in Ember’s fortune change the status quo? Have to say this was my least favourite story. A Betrothal for Christmas by Suzanna Medeiros - A young lady hoping for as Season in London, is told that won’t be necessary as her father has received an offer for her hand in marriage. Distressed Millie hurries to the home of her best friend, only to get caught in a snowstorm and only just making it to safety. Her friend is unfortunately away and only her older brother remains…. The Recluse and the Runaway by Barbara Monajem - Runaway Nell is rescued from the weather conditions by Sir Rupert but she knows it is too dangerous to spend more than a few days in his home. She must continue to find safety with her father’s solicitor who will protect her from her stepmother’s lies. A Bride Before Christmas by Ella Quinn - A Duke who uses his children as pawns and the children who thwart his plans. Snowbound with the Earl by Lana Williams - An Earl who never expected to inherit needs to marry a lady with connections who can help him to navigate his new position. Instead he finds himself drawn to the kind but impoverished daughter of a Baron, who not only has no connections but due to caring for her ailing mother has not even enjoyed a season. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from Booksprout and one of the authors. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Prepare to find love in this world of historical romance opened up for our reading pleasure by these wonderful authors!

All nine stories are worth rereading, but my favorites are ones in which the female MC’s are burdened by plain appearances, poverty or tragedy. The MMC’s are quite varied from rakes to war heroes. As it turns out, Boyd’s story “Once Tempted” is my first choice. Minerva Chase’s tragedy is having Humphrey as a brother…a selfish dolt and unappreciative of his sister’s management of their home. He’s entertaining his friends with a house party at which he treats Minerva as a servant. His rake of a friend Frederick Stonebeck has taken notice of his off-limits sister. Read what happens when a wager goes awry. I did reread that story before this review. My second favorite was “Make My Wish Come True” by Linden. It’s the tale of a recently fired impoverished governess Guinevere Barrett with a sick grandmother and Captain Adrian Fitzhugh who has a sick grandfather. They cross paths at an inn and he offers her a ride to her destination. My third favorite is “Snowbound with the Earl” by Williams. Newly minted Hugh Allerton suffers a fall from his horse only to be found by Olivia Downing who finds him stranded in the snow. Read how they find one another at a house party and how a Christmas miracle finds them. The rest of the stories are all good and an excellent collection to read at this time of the year. I have received an ARC from Booksprout and I am leaving an unbiased review voluntarily.
Once Tempted – Heather Boyd Oh, the brother’s best friend and wallflower trope which wasn’t always my thing but is becoming one of my favorites. Why don’t these men understand that the sure thing is not the thing they want but the intelligent kind person is what they really want? Well, I don’t know but it makes for a great story. I thought Frederick and Minerva were such a cute couple that just needed to see each other.
Betrothed by Christmas – Bronwen Evans Bronwen pulled me at with this story. I was having to wipe my eyes quite a bit and I loved it because this story is so sweet. The kids in this story were so cute – they wanted a complete family. Ambrose and Eleanor were onto the kids but made it fun. There is a tiny bit of angst and thank goodness it was quickly put to bed.
Make My Wish Come True – Caroline Linden Cute, cute, cute. Aww, what can I say, Adrian and Gwen were so sweet and lovely people. Their story was such a satisfying read for a short story. I would have loved more.
A Betrothal for Christmas – Suzanna Medeiros There is a little secret in this story. I wish this story was longer also as I loved both Carlisle and Millie. Love shows up where you least expect it. Fun story.
Eleanor Tinsdale, the Marchioness of Claremont, was widowed some years ago leaving her with a son, Harry. She does not grieve her husband was he was cold and dull. Her big worry is that her late husband appointed Lord Redington, an odious man, to train Harry as he wishes. For several Christmases Harry had to spend with the man and not be able to enjoy a fun time with his mother. He also has the authority to decide which man she can or cannot marry if she chooses to do so.
Ambrose Foxhill, the Duke of Hampton, lives across from Eleanor. He has a daughter, Lillian, close in age to Harry. The man’s wife ran off with her lover shortly after Lillian was born. He was crushed at the action of his wife and has a party just for single men each year. He then asks Eleanor to keep Lillian for a few days. This year, the children decide that they want to match up their parents. Thus begins their endeavor.
This is a clever and steamy book. There are some scary events and some worrisome ones as well. The story is well-written and I enjoyed it very much.

I read this collection specifically for Caroline Linden’s entry, so my review will focus on that novella, titled Make My Wish Come True. I almost always enjoy this author’s writing. She rarely lets me down, and on some occasions (e.g. her previous novella I Heart the Earl) she absolutely dazzles. This is one of my favorite things I’ve read of hers in recent years. It contains Linden’s usual strengths: smooth and errorless prose, interesting characters that get fleshed out quickly, and relationships that develop at a believable pace. That last one is especially impressive here in the context of a novella. Often authors will employ the technique of giving novella characters some type of previous relationship, since there’s so little time to make them fall in love. But Linden hands us two characters that have never before met, and in the space of 24 hours she convinces us they’ve formed a bond with lasting potential. There’s one scene that feels a smidge too sudden—but even that one doesn’t feel completely unearned, because there’s an explanation as to why the characters’ emotional barriers are lowered at that moment. If you’re looking for an enjoyable way to spend an hour, offering wit and charm wrapped up in a wintry package, I highly recommend Make My Wish Come True.
I have a soft spot for Christmas-themed HR's and I love a good anthology. As in every anthology, there are a few entries here that didn't work for me, but also a few outstanding novellas that make this collection worth checking out. My faves: *Tis the Season–so glad to read something by Elizabeth Cole again! I got into her books several years back and then somehow she fell off my radar. This is sweet and steamy, with a curvy MFC who loves to cook and a sexy wounded warrior who knows just how to turn up the temperature between them. I give this one the full 5 stars, level 3 steam *Make My Wish Come True–Caroline Linden is another author I've enjoyed in the past but haven't read too recently; glad she was part of this anthology. This is insta-lusty, which is generally not my jam, but these MC's are so likable and have such great chemistry I was rooting for their HEA. 4.25 stars, level 2-3 steam. *Once Tempted–Heather Boyd. Charming and enjoyable. 4 stars, level 2 steam.
I read an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my honest, voluntary review. Thanks to the authors, publisher, and Booksprout for this opportunity.
Minerva Chase is enamoured with her brother’s friend, Frederick Stonebeck, until she overhears him and her brother make a wager about bedding a widow. Minerva’s brother is a bit of an arse, but thankfully Frederick isn’t and eventually realizes what a good person Minerva is. This is a wonderful story about seeing a person’s true character.
’TIS THE SEASON FOR SEDUCTION by ELIZABETH COLE
Beatrice Holliday is an English lady who was disowned by her parents for being in trade. She studied in France before opening a successful sweets shop in the US. She avoids people as much as possible until Noel Forrest, a wounded vet, worms his way into her life. He credits Bea with renewing his desire to eat after tasting and falling in love with her chocolate confections. The reader is taken on a journey as the two challenge each other and develop a relationship as they experiment.
BETROTHED BY CHRISTMAS by BRONWEN EVANS
Eleanor Tinsdale, the widowed Marchioness of Claremont, is lonely as she tries to raise her son and keep him away from his not so pleasant appointed guardian. Her neighbor, Ambrose Foxhill, the Duke of Hampton, is soured on love as he raises his daughter after his wife ran away. After 6 years, he has finally been granted a divorce and is now considering remarrying in order to get an heir. This is a nice story about two children who know what’s good for their parents as they scheme to bring them together in the hope of creating one big happy family.
MAKE MY WISH COME TRUE by CAROLINE LINDEN
I loved this story of Guinevere Barrett and Captain Adrian Fitzhugh. Gwen was sacked from her governess position for wanting to go see her grandmother who was in poor health but no matter the challenges, she remained positive. Adrian’s grandfather was dying this he was rushing home to the same village as Gwen since. Fate brings these two together for an adventure.
WICKED FLAMES by ELIZA LLOYD
I didn’t like this 2nd chance romance as I did not find the characters likeable. Lord Dahlingford has had many lovers, never lasting longer than a year with any of them. Ember Boothe is an old friend, who Dahlingford once thought he would marry and is now a widow with 3 children. I felt that this story did not flow smoothly and that certain elements were just randomly thrown in.
A BETROTHAL FOR CHRISTMAS by SUZANNA MEDEIROS
Millicent Tyndale had a little hissy fit when she found out that she wouldn’t be getting a season and ended up getting caught in a snowstorm as she tried escaping to her neighbour’s house. Her friend was not home but her brother, Viscount Carlisle, who Millie has a crush on, is. He ensures that Millie is taken care of and the two spend some time talking as the reader figures out how things are long before Millie does.
THE RECLUSE AND THE RUNAWAY by BARBARA MONAJEM
This is an enjoyable variation of Cinderella that doesn’t involve a prince saving the day. Sir Rupert is a kind gentleman who happens across a soaked and freezing Nell. He takes her home as an act of kindness and that is where all the fun begins.
A BRIDE BEFORE CHRISTMAS by ELLA QUINN
Miss Margaret Sutton and Lord Septimus Trevor decide to wed after meeting each other for the 1st time. This story is mostly about keeping Septimus’s father in the dark. The story is ok, but the ARC has a lot of little editing issues that annoyed me; hopefully these will be resolved before the final release.
SNOWBOUND WITH THE EARL by LANA WILLIAMS
Hugh Allerton, the Earl of Darnworth, has just inherited and is seeking a wife who experienced in polite society. Olivia Downing is 22 with little hope of finding a husband since she dedicates all of her time caring for her ailing mother and elderly father in a small village. Lucky for Olivia, her aunt arrives and whisks her away to a house party where fate steps in to provide a better future for Olivia.

I've only read one book in this collection and it was such a heartfelt story!

I definitely enjoyed this book from beginning to the end..
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest voluntary review and this is purely based upon my own personal opinion and that of no one else.
Well written group of 9 stories. Each by some amazing storytelling authors, some new to me and some who have been around and loved by everyone . The characters are all remarkable, yet complex with lots of multidimensional personalities. Once tempted by Heather Boyd is a novella about Minnie and her brother's friend, Frederick. At a house party, Frederick and her brother make a wager to see who gets to bed the merry widow first. She overhears and lets Frederick know how she feels. He saves her from a spiked punch and then she finds and helps a small kitten. He starts to see her as a woman and not her brother's sister. Feelings grow and they get their happily ever after. All the other stories also have so much to offer the reader. Loved them all and so hard to put down this book. Would recommend to everyone.

I am meeting some new friends with authors from other countries writing fun Christmas Regency romances full of holiday cheer and romance. I have read Betrothed by Christmas by Bronwen Evans and loved that it featured, not a blushing virgin, but a widow and a divorced duke. Eleanor knows all about being wed to an older man chosen by her father and she is not in favor of another loveless marriage. The book does a good job or showing how powerless women were in the 1800s and if Eleanor has any hope of being able to control her son's future, she needs to be protected by a powerful man. Ambrose was burned by loving his first wife who ran off and when he proposes a "marriage of convenience" to Eleanor he does not want love. Their cute kids have other ideas and work behind their backs to match them up. There is one steamy love scene and lots of nice romance amidst lots of Christmas activities and joy. I have high hopes for the other novellas in this anthology too.
I have only read one novel in this anthology, however, I am familiar with all the other authors and they are wonderful writers of romance.
Betrothed by Christmas is a delightfully sweet romance as the mischievous offspring of Lady Eleanor and Ambrose, the Duke of Hampton plot to bring their parents together. Ambrose and Eleanor have had their share of heartache and pain and choose to handle their difficulties differently. They do have one thing in common, though: they put their children before their own happiness. Thus, when Lillian and Harry create the perfect opportunity for a kiss under the mistletoe, their parents are surprised at the extent of the attraction between them. Before they can fully commit to one another there are some issues that have to be sorted out and much to the children's delight, Christmas Day brings them the desires of their hearts. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
A charming anthology of short stories of Christmas romance. 9 stories in total, each with its own plot, not tied together. I had my favorite and my least favorite, but all were enjoyable and an easy read. A couple of the authors are new to me and it's always a pleasure to try out a new style and discover a new author to follow.
Between the stories we have a couple of house parties, second chances, love at first sight, lots of snow and a couple of Cinderellas.
For me Ella Quinn, Caroline Linden, Barbara Monajem, and Browen Evans especially hit the mark with heartwarming holiday stories. One author gave up a convoluted mess with unlikable characters. The rest were enjoyable stories with thoughtful plots making classic holiday romances. My recommendation is this presentation is a delightful way to enjoy Regency romance and the Christmas season.

I normally don’t read or watch Christmas love stories, but I’m glad I read ’TIS THE SEASON FOR SEDUCTION by Elizabeth Cole and THE RECLUSE AND THE RUNAWAY by Barbara Monajem. In ‘Tis the Season for Seduction two very strong willed people make assumptions about others actions. I don’t do spoilers, so you are going to have to figure the assumptions yourself. What I will tell you, is that without communication, people can never grow and really learn how to love. In The Recluse and the Runaway, we see how easy it is to destroy someone’s self worth over time. Can love and the magic of Christmas heal what has been broken? Both stories had fascinating characters and good story lines. I hope you enjoy both of these stories as much as I did! Now I’m going to read the rest of the stories! This anthology of short stories was enjoyable and just the thing I needed for some fun reading. I have just a couple left to read still, but have been enjoying one or two most days for the past week or so as quick reads. As short stories, they don't have as much character and plot development, and of course, as an anthology of authors some are more developed than others. All together though, they are a sweet collection especially as we head into the holiday season. I think the Cinderella -type was one of my favorites for the relaxed nature of the lord. I was sent this opportunity by Elizabeth Cole and loved hers as well...I love everything she writes in this era. This was a nice sampler of other authors I wasn't aware of and enjoyed.

Once Tempted is about a house party where Minerva’s brother and his best friend Frederick make a scandalous bed about a window and Frederick is sidetracked saving a drunk Minerva. Frederick falls for Minerva almost instantly when she tells him how her brother wants to exile her as unpaid housekeeper to another estate.
A Betrothed by Christmas between widow Eleanor and her divorced neighbor Ambrose and their matchmaking young children Harry and Lillian. But Harry’s soulless guardian may have something to say it. The children were a riot.
Make My Wish Come True is about an army captain Adrian who comes to the aid of governess Gwen who was sacked without pay for asking for time off and her stolen barn cat. They end up stuck together during a storm and their relationship becomes something more. Even though the story was short I would have liked an epilogue.
Bronwen Evans' Betrothed by Christmas is a delightful holiday romance that warms the heart. The children's matchmaking scheme is both endearing and humorous. I particularly enjoyed the scene where the daughter created a call to her father and ended up leaving them both alone after he arrived. The author's skillful portrayal of the characters' blossoming love story had my heart warming. The Duke and Eleanor's slow-burn romance is beautifully developed, with each character's inner struggles and hopes for love shining through.
While the novella could have benefited from a bit more depth in the secondary characters, the central romance is captivating. Betrothed by Christmas is a perfect read for curling up with a cup of hot cocoa and losing yourself in a heartwarming tale of love and second chances.
This was a lovely story about two lonely people, Lady Eleanor Tinsdale and Ambrose, Duke of Hampton. Eleanor was a widow, who hadn’t had a happy marriage but she did have a son Harry, that she adored. Ambrose thought he had an ideal marriage until his wife left him. They lived near each other and once a year, Ambrose left his daughter, Lilian with Eleanor for a few days. I enjoyed the way that they both realised how they felt about each other but was unsure of the other’s feelings. They also didn’t account for Harry and Lilian scheming! I found this to be an engaging read which was passionate at times. I was given a copy of this story and I have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own. However, I have preordered my own copy of this anthology and I look forward to reading the other stories.
“Betrothed by Christmas” by Bronwen Evans Christmas Wishes & Wagers !! I loved this story. Yes, I loved my time in this story. If you read the description and thought you might like this story, then I am pretty sure you will love this story, too. There is a spicy scene, and if you don’t care for them, do what I do, skim right on by, because you really don’t want to miss this story. It really is a great Christmas story. One of the stories in Snowflakes and Scandals anthology. Happy Reading! !
I pre-ordered this as all but one of the authors are well-known to me. My favorite stories were Heather Boyd's Once Tempted, Betrothed by Christmas by Bronwen Evans, and Caroline Linden's Make My Wish Come True (always interested to read what is made of a penniless governess). I was not drawn into Wicked Flames - my only DNF; I may retry at a later date. As this was not an ARC, I was surprised to see so many typos in a couple of the stories; I hope the authors take another look before publishing as a standalone.
