Bonnie Wilkins has found a friend in a stray cat that she stumbled upon in a storm. No one seems to be missing it and it has become quite important to Bonnie as she tries to get through her troubles that Peter has made for her. Bonnie went into town and into a boutique and was offered a job when she told the owner of her problems and that she was in lots of debt because of her late husband's business disaster. On the first day Bonnie felt so frustrated of the hard work and wearing the wrong type of footwear, she had sore and blistered feet. When she gets home she finds her neighbour Jack in her yard on her deck leaving her a bottle of wine to say congratulations on finding a job. Bonnie is down in the dumps because she is making minimum wage and the job is too much for her. She was hoping to get a management position but she has had really no work experience at all. Bonnie invites Jack in for a drink to talk about her horrible day and she remembers the paper in Peter's office with all of the passwords on. She hands it to Jack to see if he can make any sense out of it. He turns the page over and sees something then right away he gets up, tells Bonnie not to repeat this conversation to anyone and leaves promptly. What did he see on this page? Is he involved somehow in the mess that Bonnie's husband Peter left for her? I can't wait for the next book to find out more of what is going on...

So we know that Pete has left Bonnie in a precarious situation with all her money being tied up, no one to turn to, having to take a job that pays minimum wage, which will not sustain her and living in their second house in Lake Placid. She has talked to her neighbor several time about maybe how she can get her money out of the property but has not made any progress. He has an ex-wife who really doesn't like Bonnie so she stays away from them when she is there. So tonight she finds that the ex is outta the house and the neighbor is coming over to talk. They are sitting at the table when she gets the paper that her husband has left her with instructions on what to do it anything happens to him. The neighbor takes the paper and is looking over the clues, passwords, apps when he turns the page over and seems to almost go into shock. He takes one look at it, apologizes to Bonnie and bolts. Wait, what does that mean? What does he recognize on the sheet of paper and what does it mean to Bonnie being able to have at least a part of her life back. So excited about book 4.

This series just keeps getting better and better! I am so hooked on what has happened to Bonnie after the untimely death of her husband. Every time she thought that she was getting closer to making her life complete there is another obstacle thrown into her path. She thought she had found a solution to how she could make money and took a job in a shop but after just a short time she knew that this was not the answer. Her feet hurt as well as her pride and self-worth. The tiny bit she was making didn’t even hardly cover food and essentials for herself and her cat. She was still trying to get answers as to why she could not sell her home in Albany. She knew she had to get answers and the only person to help her was her neighbor. When she got home, she was surprised yet pleased that Jack was standing on her porch. The story gets better and better with the author doing a amazing job of building up the suspense and keeping readers eager for more.

So far I'm really enjoying this compelling series. An ongoing story, each book is like about ten chapters of a regular novel, short enough to be read in a few hours. Bonnie continues to search for answers to her husband's financial mess, and a way forward for herself. He's left her a letter--"in case something happens to me"--and a list of sites for her to look at. For some reason she ignores this list and rather reaches out to his former business partner. Now staying at their huge country home, she attempts to put her home in the city up for sale. She accepts the offer of a sales job in a local craft store but her first day reveals just how clueless and out of shape she is. Having worked in retail myself, I had to smile at all her misconceptions. And she's still leaving her children in the dark; seems her husband's sudden death hasn't taught her anything. I'm looking forward to the next episode, seeing if she can untangle her financial affairs, but it won't be out for another month!
The plot thickens as the suspense builds. Things are going from bad to worse for Bonnie. With the issues building it makes one wonder just who was Peter. Was he living a double life and is Bonnie now in danger? Waiting anxiously for the next part to see what scared Jake so much that he abruptly got up and took off. Just what did he see on that back page of ‘passwords’ that Peter left for Bonnie. Whatever it was, it was enough to scare Jake off.
🤔OBSERVATIONS:
✒︎ Bonnie needs a job, one that pays enough to help her get out of the money trouble she inherited when Jack died. Problem is, Bonnie has no work experience. She accepts a minimum wage position which is hard on her in more ways than one.
✒︎ Sharon… oh Sharon. Just what is her problem? Is it just pride or something deeper?

Bonnie is reeling from the knowledge that she can't sell the house in Albany. She decides to ask Jack, her neighbor, for some information. When she arrives at his door, Jacks ex answers the door, so Bonnie can't ask her questions. She knows she has to come up with some way to make money. She puts her designer purses on the internet in hopes of getting some quick cash. Then she gets a chance at a job, but disappointed at the pay and the work she will have to do. When she gets home, Jack is at her doorstep and she invites him in. She tells him about her horrible day and how it's not really getting her out of debt. Then she remembers the sheet of information with password and she shows it to Jack. She is totally unprepared for his reaction. He hands her the paper, tells her to never show it or talk about it to anyone, then quickly leaves. What does this mean? What does the numbers mean?
After coming off a very emotional book (Home Front by Kristen Hannah) I wanted to read something “lite” I saw Memories on the Lake on Kindle Unlimited so I downloaded it and began reading. I had no idea it was a series until I got to the end at page 77 when I realized there are 6 “books.” Well I was invested after book 1 and since I’m laid up on the sofa with icky germs 😷🤒 I plowed through them all. 466 pages total.
I am counting all 6 as one book as each of them were only 77-81 pages long and the way each “book” ended there is no way you could classify it as a book. They truly ended in the middle of a chapter. It’s a very good story that kept my attention and all 6 are an easy read. I give the series a 3 because there wasn’t anything earth shattering that made my jaw drop and I didn’t cry. This would make for a good vacation read or quick airplane trip read. On to my next read…
It seems as though life is against Bonnie as everything she does to make money and save money is not working out for her. The suspense is slowly rising and the curious behaviour of Jack when he saw the note with the passwords is quite intriguing. I wonder if he is involved in Peter’s business dealings. I sure hope Bonnie has some luck in the next book because at the moment she certainly needs a lot of it and hopefully the universe will send some her way.

What just happened? Jake's uprupt leave from Bonnie's house had me questioning, what just happened?? The more Bonnie wants to know about Peter and their finances, the more reluctant others are to open up. What is she not being told about her late husband? What scared Jake upon reading the note Peter left for Bonnie's and why?? Talk about getting sucked in to the story!! This is awesome.

Could things get any worse? Bonnie's bank account was dwindling very quickly. She found a retail job at $15.00/hour and she hated it. As a last resort she showed Jack the letter she had found from Peter. He abruptly got up and before leaving said, " Do me a favor, DON"T tell anyone about this conversation....EVER!!!! No one can ever know." And he was gone. Get me to book #4.

A wonderful book full of suspense and mystery in all the right places. Poor Bonnie is struggling with the mess Pete has left her in. I haven't been able to put all the pieces together myself and have been guessing the whole way. Sage Parker weaves a compelling story and I am loving this one. An amazing series and I can't wait for the next book.

Being a widow that was left in less than an adequate financial position, I can identify with Bonnie. I was lucky to not have been blindsided by it and fortunately had life insurance and I could run our company and get in a better position. My heart reaches out to her and the position she’s been left in. I know it will not go well when her children find out and they will have their feelings hurt. I do hope Jack returns with some answers. Hurry, Book 4.
And the story continues Bonnie, this is lost case. I don’t understand how she could be so clueless. I’m not judging but…her going grocery shopping, wasn’t sure if I should scream, laugh or cry. Love her loving stray kitty, and ending is very twisted. I’m to next chapters, intriguing. Forgive me my ranting I still like story. It’s engaging.

After finding the letter from Peter, Bonnie goes on a journey of discovery. When she keeps receiving bad news about her finances she moves forward as best she is able. Getting a job is a very new thing and a rude awakening. The more bad news that keeps coming, the stronger she is getting. With help from friends, some she doesn't seem to want Bonnie is going to persevere at any cost.
I drop everything the minute I see a book released in this series and read it from cover to cover. My heart goes out to the recently widowed Bonnie who is trying to move forward, but is constantly facing obstacles and challenges. I love this series and others by Sage Parker.

Bonnie is realizing how bad her financial situation and she ends up getting a job. It’s quite the challenge for someone who never worried about money before. She’s grieving both her late husband and her former life. The end had quite the surprise. I can’t wait for the next book!

Bonnie is working at building herself back up but does come up with some roadblocks. I am really curious as to the logins and passwords that Peter left for her. Seeing her get a job and the struggles of having a job felt so relatable. I wonder why Jack ran at the end. I need to read the next book.
