Memories on the Lake, Book 2, continues the story of Bonnie as she adjusts to life without her husband. She finds a cryptic letter in Peter's office and is unsure who she can trust. She is determined to find a way to take care of herself without burdening her kids. I can't wait for the next installment and hope she and Jack develop a love connection.

No Time for a Sob Fest... answers have to be out there, but where?

Bonnie has a lot of searching to do. First she has to look within to see if she’s missing something … something or someone that has answers. What was Mike hiding? He and Peter were not only business partners for years but friends too. Why is Mike so illusive? Why did he not show up at Peter’s funeral or at least send a condolence card or phone call? Something’s not right, things are not adding up. Did Mike betray Peter? It’s obvious to Bonnie he’s hiding something. Now she finds out lawyers are involved and Mike and Peter’s business relationship, as well as their friendship, ended eight months ago. What happened?

Bonnie needs answers and people who would know are being closed mouth. She has to devise a plan without being obvious. Peter left her a paper of codes that looked like hieroglyphics to her, but they were important, so important that he told her not to share, show or talk about them to anyone … no one! So it was time to walk thru the back door, where no one would be looking or notice. But you know how plans go… they are made to be broken. In this case they are shattered, at least for now. Bonnie learns more bad news, very bad. What little financial security she thought she had just went out the window.

Bonnie has decided to go to the lake house at Lake Placid to have some time for herself after Peter's death. The neighbour Jack Barlow has become a part of Bonnie's plan to find out what happened between Mike and Peter and where exactly all of Peter's money has gone to.. Bonnie decided to go on a hike to clear her head and ends up lost when Jack was out for a run and saw her make a wrong turn that would have her end up in the mountains on the way out of town. Bonnie hears footsteps and her heart starts to race and she is so afraid that someone is after her. Jack walks her back to their properties and she is so much more at ease now. She is still researching Peter's business and what has gone so wrong. Bonnie gets a phone call from Peter's attorney and she is so excited to tell him that she has decided to sell the house in Albany when he then tells her that it isn't possible to do that! What is the reason for that? I can't wait for the next book to find out why...

So Bonnie is trying to figure out where her life is right now. Money wise it looks really grim and even when she thinks she knows what is going on she is just finding out that she doesn't. Peter always took care of everything and even now she is discovering that there is no life insurance and that so many cards and accounts are maxed out. How is she ever going to be able to pay all the money back.
Luckily her neighbor at the house in Lake Placid has offered to help and even though she never got along with his wife he is now divorced and so maybe they can be friends. But, when she goes over to take him a thank you gift his ex is there and so maybe not.
Bonnie decides that the only thing she can do is to sell the mail house because it is paid off and she will take that money to pay off her debts.
But as the saying goes The Road to HELL is paved with good intentions, and it seems like she is really in HELL right now.
Can't wait for book three to see where she is going to go now.

Irritating

I have to be so careful when reviewing a book I don't like on Amazon. They consider it hate mail if I say I don't like a character and refuse to print it. Let's say the main character is acting less than intelligent. Your husband died unexpectedly. You find out his businesses have been closed for six months and he owes thousands of dollars in debts. You won't tell your grown children because they may think less of their father! You run off to your lake house. You don't think about what you have been living on for that six months. You go to sell the house and the lawyer tells you that you can never sell the house. The book ends. Do I even care any more? No. That is the first thing I would have checked when I found out my husband pretended to go to work for six months! Does she deserve to live on the streets? Yes. When you refuse to ask for help when you are in dire straits you need serious mental help.

in the second book, we find bonnie at the lake house on Lake Placid and she has found a letter from her dead husband, Peter. When she reads it she realizes that Peter knew things were bad but he still loved her. What surprises her that the second sheet has a list of sites with login information. Bonnie has no idea what it means or what to do with the information. She hopes that she might pry some information out of her neighbor who is in finances. But first she has to solve her short term money problems, so she decides to put the house in Albany up for sale, that should give her a nest egg for now. As she makes plans to put the house up for sale with a realtor friend, another shoe drops. Her husbands lawyers lets her know that she can not sell the house in Albany. Now what is she going to do?

After coming off a very emotional book (Home Front by Kristen Hannah) I wanted to read something “lite”
I saw Memories on the Lake on Kindle Unlimited so I downloaded it and began reading. I had no idea it was a series until I got to the end at page 77 when I realized there are 6 “books.” Well I was invested after book 1 and since I’m laid up on the sofa with icky germs 😷🤒 I plowed through them all.
466 pages total.

I am counting all 6 as one book as each of them were only 77-81 pages long and the way each “book” ended there is no way you could classify it as a book. They truly ended in the middle of a chapter. It’s a very good story that kept my attention and all 6 are an easy read. I give the series a 3 because there wasn’t anything earth shattering that made my jaw drop and I didn’t cry. This would make for a good vacation read or quick airplane trip read.
On to my next read…

Losing her husband Pete was the worst thing Bonnie could imagine happening in her life. But as she digs deeper into her husband’s company and finds a lot of things that just did not connect. Bonnie knew she had to keep looking until she got her answers.
She was hoping that his business partners could fill in the blanks she was finding. But that was not what was not getting her any closer to the truth.
Thinking that selling their home she would be able to pay all the debt until she heard the words that she was not able to sell the home.
This cliffhanger made my mouth drop open in shock! I can not wait for the next book!.

Peter sure left Bonnie with a mess in her hands. Knowing Sage, this story is going to give the reader so many intriguing obstacles to dish through before the good parts are revealed. Who can Bonnie truly trust to help her sort things out? Could she put her trust in Jack? Will Peter's lawyer help Bonnie comb through all the mess? What role does Mike play into Peter's financial woes and was Peter's death truly an accident? I can not wait to see what Sage has in store for us with book three. I have a feeling that I am going to learn a lot of financial lingo with this mystery!!! Love it!.

As Bonnie attempts to move forward with her life following the untimely death of her husband she finds more obstacles in her way but also more mysteries. Peter has left Bonnie a letter but unfortunately it does not explain what he was up to and how Bonnie’s current predicament can be rectified. Every one she speaks to is not forthcoming answers to her many questions which is only frustrating her even more. Bonnie decides to sell her house only to be told it cannot be done. I cannot wait to delve more in to this mystery and hopefully find out the truth about Peter’s businesses.

The continuation of a very well written, compelling story. Each of these books is very short; I read this one in several hours.
Bonnie is discovering more about her husband's business affairs that have somehow gone awry, but each thing she finds out leads to more bewilderment. While I feel a lot of sympathy for her being left totally in the dark, yet it's disappointing that she does exactly the same thing to her children. Convinced that she can handle this herself, she lies to her daughter about the situation, not wanting to worry her children with the harsh truth.
I'm eager to see just what path the writer will follow in this story!

With all the turmoil going on with Peters business, Bonnie needed a break.. So , she packed up for their vacation home in Lake Placid.
As she is going through Peters office at Lake Placid, a letter slips from his desk addressed to her. It didn't make a lot of sense, and he ends it with telling her NOT to share the information with ANYONE. And a list of logins.
She calls Mike(Peters old partner), to try to eek out some answers. He informs her that the partnership was dissolved 8 months ago and hangs up on her.

WHAT IS GOING ON????

Memories on the Lake, Book Two, finds Bonnie reading Peter’s letter and trying to figure out the attachment to it. She tries to figure out what happened to the business but Peter’s business partner will only speak to her through an attorney and her neighbor, Jack, ignores her request for what Peter has shared with him. Charles, Peter’s attorney only provides more bad news. The book has a cliffhanger.

As Bonnie starts searching for answers, she finds a letter from Peter addressed to her. This letter has sites and login information. Bonnie is overwhelmed with grief and trying to do her best to dig out from this avalanche of bad news that just seems to keep coming. I really love that her strong will and character is starting to show through. Bonnie is having to come through her grief quickly and I admire her greatly with how she is handling everything.

Fantastic story!

An absolutely fantastic book in the Memories on the Lake Series. Just as Bonnie thinks that she is starting to turn her life around after the death of her husband, there is another whammy that knocks her for a loop. With the cliff hanger ending, the wait to read Book 3 will be long. I love this series!

I cannot imagine being so unknowing of my husband’s activity that I would be in Bonnie’s position following his death. Of course, I worked with my husband for 32 years so I knew all about his business. I have a hard time believing he was a good guy if he could lie so effectively. I’m willing to withhold judgement for a few more installments. The author manages to keep me involved in Bonnie’s story and wondering what she is going to find. I don’t think her children are going to be happy being kept in the dark. Fingers drumming waiting for Book 3.
