Bonnie is so frustrated with most of the people in her life since her husband was killed in an accident and the main reason is that they will not tell her the truths she knows they are intentionally withholding from her. But what are these things they are not telling her and why won’t they tell her. She is facing so many unknowns in dealing with financial problems that she had no clue about before Peter’s death.
And then there’s her new job, making less in a full week than she would blow on a trinket without even thinking about it before her husband died. How was she going to pay just the barest living expenses like this?
And her next door neighbor, who is divorced is having issues with his ex wife that are affecting her as she overhears too much between them when they are arguing. How will this affect her friendship with her neighbor, Jack?
Learning to live as a single individual rather than part of a couple is exceedingly challenging, yet also freeing in many ways. And then she gets hit with another blow that nearly knocks her feet out from under her. What’s next?.

Bonnie has taken a job downtown at a boutique and has recently found out that she earns a commission on selling pieces over $100. She had a ruff start but it is going much better. She earns enough to buy herself food to live on. Her neighbour Jack is becoming more friendly with her and Bonnie wouldn't be upset to start a relationship with him, or even be close friends. Bonnie has been trying to uncover the secrets that Peter has left for her in his passing. Peter left her a piece of paper in the den with passwords on and she has been trying to unscramble it. She has been laying awake at night with her brain going over all the details that have happened since Peter has died and she finally figured it out while unable to sleep, and goes to the study and on her computer and she was in complete shock that she found exactly what she was looking for. I am so intrigued by this cliff hanger and can't wait till the next book to see what happens next!.

Suspense Builds … and what an ending to a sleepless night

As the emotion and intrigue build, Bonnie’s struggles seem to have no end in sight. It’s hard not to feel the pain Bonnie has to be experiencing. Her perfect life with her perfect family and perfect love is no more, and she has to be wondering if it ever was. Bonnie hasn’t had the time needed to grieve Peter’s sudden death, she’s been too busy trying to fix the messes he left behind. Just what was Peter hiding…. or involved with? It seems as soon as she finds a clue another obstacle pops up. This ends in one big humdinger of a cliffhanger.

🤔OBSERVATIONS

✒︎ Bonnie seems to be drawing closer to Jack. I can’t help but wonder if Jack knows more thane lets on.

✒︎ Sleepless nights seem to yield results alongside surprises in the ‘clue’ department.

✒︎ And yes, I still have to wonder just how accidental Peter’s death really was… remember, it was a closed casket funeral.

Having read Sage Parker books before, I know each book builds on the story from the previous books. Each book is like a section of one book. I read the other three books, in this series, prior to reading this one and suggest you do the same.
Bonnie is a recent widow who finds her financial situation in ruins. The one bank account she has is suddenly frozen. She is penneyless!
She has found a job and realizes that working with the public can be trying. She handles the situations in an admirably calm mannor realizing she has to have this job to survive.
She also realizes that friendships are very important. Her next door neighbor is helping her cope. As the story progresses we will see what happens with that relationship.
As this book ends. Bonnie, after a long sleepless night, is making a discovery about the letter her husband left her. Will all her financial problems end, or will she find her husband is the real problem in his business financial mess?

Some surprises in store for Bonnie

Bonnie is settling into her job but the debt still owed was a lot. When her debit card won't go thru, Bonnie decides she needs information that only their attorney can answer. As she questions the attorney, she isn't getting any answers and he tells her that he can't tell her much. He tells her he is working to get everything straightened but due to the legal aspects, he can't tell her much. Then she gets an advance on her pay, so she can buy some food and gas. Then she starts researching the information on the paper her husband left her. She hits on the fact it had something to do with cryptocurrency. Now she has an idea about what the information and password are really for. As she enters the information into her computer, Bonnie wonders what she will find

After coming off a very emotional book (Home Front by Kristen Hannah) I wanted to read something “lite”
I saw Memories on the Lake on Kindle Unlimited so I downloaded it and began reading. I had no idea it was a series until I got to the end at page 77 when I realized there are 6 “books.” Well I was invested after book 1 and since I’m laid up on the sofa with icky germs 😷🤒 I plowed through them all.
466 pages total.

I am counting all 6 as one book as each of them were only 77-81 pages long and the way each “book” ended there is no way you could classify it as a book. They truly ended in the middle of a chapter. It’s a very good story that kept my attention and all 6 are an easy read. I give the series a 3 because there wasn’t anything earth shattering that made my jaw drop and I didn’t cry. This would make for a good vacation read or quick airplane trip read.
On to my next read…

Bonnie has been trying to figure out what exactly her husband Peter wanted her to know. Jack next door has been a great help but this is not his responsibility and Bonnie does not want to involve him anymore.
What is happening though is that Bonnie is starting to have feelings for her neighbor. They have spent time together for years with their kids growing up together and she feels something growing. She has always worried about him with who he was married to.
Can they develop feelings in a way that lets them start over and lets Bonnie grow stronger in the meantime.
Anxious for next installment.

This is book four in the Lake Placid series by Sage Parker. Every time I start a book in the series, I know I will not be putting it down until the end. This time the cliff hanger was one that took my breath away and left me in awe of the turn in the path Bonnie has been following trying to figure out what did her husband do to make such a huge mess of their finances.
I highly recommend this series to everyone. Memories on the Lake will keep you guessing and wondering what is going to happen in the next book!.

Bonnie is going through so much and it seems as if there is no end in sight. What has Peter done and why would he leave such a mess for Bonnie to deal with? I get that he probably thought he could get them out of debt, but now that he is gone, Bonnie is getting the negative effects from the outcome. Can Jack help? Will Bonnie find the answers she needs to get out of the bad situation her late husband caused? How do the numbers Peter left for Bonnie fit in? So many questions and yet no answers. Intriguing in so many ways....

As Bonnie tries to navigate the constant hurdles in her way to solving the mystery of her husband’s business some luck comes her way by way of a job. It is a positive step to help Bonnie stand on her own two feet. She is still trying to figure out what her husband Peter was trying to convey to her. Can she finally solve the riddle he left and find out exactly what happened with Peter’s business and why are his associates so elusive. Cannot wait for the next instalment in this thrilling series.

Memories on the Lake is book #4 in the Lake Placid series by Sage Parker.

The story continues with Bonnie adjusting to her new reality. I started with book 3 so I don’t know what Bonnie was like at the start, but I’m happy to see the progress she’s making attitude-wise, though she still has a way to go in the financial department. I’m interested in what she is finding out about her husband’s note and definitely can’t wait for the next book after how this one ended!

Bonnie is working to rebuild her life, even getting a job. A sales job is an eye opening experience for her. She is also trying to solve the clues Peter has left for her. Every time she thinks she is getting ahead something comes up to push her back down. Bonnie is a survivor and is getting stronger each day. This is such a feel good story as you grow with Bonnie and cannot help but root for her to win out in the end.

The story continues and is moving along in an interesting way. This is a really great story with lots of things happening that will hold your attention. But poor Bonnie's financial situation is still a struggle. So many questions and not enough answers to all the mysteries of Pete. I am loving the suspense of it all.

Why did Jack disappear after looking at the note that Bonnie’s husband left her? What does all that mean? She decided she had enough and is going to start looking into it herself. Unfortunately it is confusing and she is starting at the very beginning. I received a free book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This series has been a page turner from the beginning. It’s still a mystery about what exactly her husband has been doing all the years to put her in the position that’s she’s in now. I don’t really know who all is involved so it’s definitely been a guessing game for me from the start. So far it’s been a great series and I can’t wait to read the rest.
