Cass takes the forefront in the most entertaining story of this run so far. Thompson's writing hits when it comes to humour, and even the more serious moments, whilst somewhat shallow, feel heavy enough for this. The plot isn't mindblowing, but it allows for a nice blend of action, humour, and heart. The core elements are probably only good when taken in isolation, however, as a complete piece, this just works.

Birds of Prey continues to be one of my favourite superhero books. Thrilling stories with a good dollop of humour and delightful artwork. What more could you want?

My only slight complaint is that sometimes whole issues can go past without some of the characters’ names being mentioned, which isn’t very new-reader-friendly.

This might have been my favourite volume of Birds of Prey so far. Two reasons the first arc stated Cassandra Cain as Dinah says:

"She's everyone's favourite."

Cass infiltrates a building believed to be holding Amazon prisoners. Cass has gone undercover but has she gone too deep? How long will the other BOP wait to get her out?

The second arc stars the Sisters Dinah and Sin showing their enemies that they are not to be messed with. While Barda and Cass help out Constantine transports a demon hunted by another demon.

I enjoyed both story arcs, lots of action and Kelly Thompson does some of my favourite action panels in comics. I loved them in Black Widow, Nightwing and here. A great BOP book. There are bonus materials of character designs and a variant covers gallery.

Easily the best material from the run so far, Kelly Thompson seems to finally know what to do with the cast. Everyone gets to shine in this volume, from Cass, Canary, Barda, and even Sin. I love the work on each of them, fighting as a unit but also as friends together against an evil organization called "the Ninth Day," who's using formulas to transform people.

The main plot is a fun undercover mission for Cassandra that goes haywire. She infiltrates the cult-like organization to investigate the kidnapping of Amazons, but she quickly loses contact with the team. This turns the mission into a desperate rescue attempt, where the Birds discover their foe is even more dangerous than they thought, having drugged and transformed Cassandra herself into a monstrous being. The last two issues focus on Sin and Canary's relationship/mission as well as Cass and Barda, who always have an amazing time together.

Overall, a great volume. A 4 out of 5.

this volume is better than the previous because it splits the team up and focuses on developing 1:1 relationships a bit more. the first three chapters center on cass infiltrating a wellness & beauty company that is...using amazons as ingredients? i actually really like this as a concept, it’s the exact type of weird i expect from a comic book. the last two chapters are about dinah and sin baiting the league of shadows, while cass and barda help out constantine w some bland magic thing. btw, it cracks me up that dinah has a moment in every volume where she says some therapy BS to any one team member and then they say thank you sooo so much. you’re such a great leader, dinah. even better than you think you are. HELP. it’s so psych-major-coded it’s just embarrassing, girl stop...please...i see right through you.

"Birds of Prey: Bird Undercover " continues the strong action packed story telling that this series is becoming known for. Although the book actually contains two story arcs the first one is longer and more far more memorable. Featuring Cassandra Cain undercover this story arc fully engages the reader in fast paced action while providing just the right amount of tension and suspense. Expect a a mélange of corporate misbehavior and science gone wrong themes, Barda's continuing Small Bat focused Anxieties, amazons and even more amazons and the worst rogue company since Cadmus.

This is my first “All-In” trade I’ve read. I enjoyed theAll-In Special and the All-In FCBD issue so I was sure I’d enjoy this and I wasn’t wrong. It is interesting how “solo” this trade is. Compared to the first two trades the stories here are focused a lot more on splitting the Birds of Prey into different situations where one or two are more focused on an “A” plot while the others are around a “B” plot. It’s not terrible and allows for some strong character moments from those who get the spotlight but does feel much less team-y than the previous trades at least from what I remember.
The first two-thirds is a fun espionage break-in of a villainous GOOP stand-in. The tension between allowing Cassandra Cain to go it alone and wait for her to require backup versus the rest of the Birds busting in was a great thing to focus the storyline on. It gives tension and reinforced how tight they all are while giving Cass a kick ass more standalone tale.
The final third is a tale where Dinah and Sin finally get some alone time. Except they don’t as they lure that sect of people out to get Sin as their next leader or whatever.I guess this is more a call-back or continuation of the pre-New 52 deal where Sin was more so the child the Birds of Prey took care of. It’s a great plot that sort of end caps the focus on the protective tendencies Dinah has for Sin because of the possible influence of Magaera over her. And it ties into the League of Assassins well too with them seemingly secretly pleased to see her pseudo-merging with Magaera and I’m eagerly looking forward to where this goes in the next set of stories. And the B plot is completely unrelated but involves Big Barda and Cassandra Cain Batgirl escorting a purposefully demon-possessed Constantine. It’s just good fun and has some light ties to Spirit World which is always a plus in my book. The artist here was less of my preference compared to the first story except in action shots where the paneling was absolutely stunning, fresh, and fun (props to the moment where Big Barda swings on the panels themselves to kick a golem in its teeth).

I found the second volume of this series a little disappointing, so I'm glad to see it back on top for the third. Cass Cain goes undercover at a pharmaceutical company to rescue some Amazons, and then everyone splits up to solve an assassin/demon problem.

Both plotlines blend what makes the Birds so great - character moments, team dynamic, and some big ass-kicking set pieces. Big Barda remains a standout character, while Sin's inclusion continues to delight me, since she deserved to come back into the spotlight after so long away.

Artwise, this is the best the book's looked since Leonardo Romero left. Sami Basri handles the first four issues while Juann Cabal takes the last two, so everything's bright and detailed, and the fight scenes are choreographed to the gods. No more two or three artists per issue either, which is a plus.

Great stuff, BoP's hitting its groove.

Very cool story as the super ladies go undercover to rescue kidnapped Amazons being experimented on at a culty tech company, come to each other’s rescues, bash bad guy brains out, and struggle with their (sometimes surprisingly tangible) inner demons.

This is an such an odd series to me because I love (nearly) every moment of it, but the second I put it down it's like "welp okay onto the next thing." It's delightfully fun but has no substance or staying power.

I loved the Cass focus here, and her parts are really what shined for me

There are two stories in this collection. In the first, the Birds team up with a pair of Amazons to rescue some of their sisters captured by an evil Wellness corporation. There's a lot of fighting, but also some angst among the team as those on backup have to decide how to respond when things don't go as well as planned. This provides some contrast between the characters, as they cope to varying degrees, and brings across the tension that would form part of such missions in real life. True, the villains' scheme is not the most original for comics, but the way it's handled here keeps it entertaining, and the bad guys get some characterisation as they disagree among themselves about how to respond to the heroes.

The second story is shorter, and even so, is really two stories in one as the team splits up to deal with separate threats. There's more action than anything else, although, again, the characterisation of the various team members is good. It's also clear that we're building up to something bigger for one of the team, probably in the next volume, although how well that will play out is anyone's guess. And there are no extraneous characters this time, as there were in the previous volume.

Honestly, it may be that I preferred this largely because the art has improved - or at least come closer to matching my tastes, since that's likely subjective. There's nothing groundbreaking here, just standard superheroics with plenty of action scenes, but it's doing a good job of it, so I'll nudge it up to four stars.

Still loving this group of women - the dialogue and quips are superb! The plot in Bird Undercover is something of a letdown, though, seemingly plucked off the shelf from any other DC comic run. A mysterious corporation has kidnapped [insert powerful superhero here], so the Birds of Prey decided to infiltrate the company to see what's up. Again, predictably, the villainous corporate folks are stealing the hero's powers and creating super-serums.

Cue: lots of punching, some close escapes, and one of our Birds getting jabbed with the super-serum. It's a fun and fine, but lacks the imagination of the previous runs. You know where Bird Undercover is going to finish from scene one.

The two-parter at the conclusion of the volume is a bit better, seeing the Birds help out Constantine. Some clever magic stuff, but still, the end result is mostly: punch the bad away. Come for the dialogue, art, and group dynamic, just don't get excited about anything new and surprising.

3.5 stars as even though I still enjoyed reading this, the change of main artist felt like a negative for me. Don’t get me wrong, the art for the Bird Undercover story was still good. But as good as Sami Basri is I miss the team of Leonardo Romero and Jordie Bellaire. (Even more so when the Divide and Conquer story comes along and the art changes again… I’m sorry but Juann Cabal’s style did not work for me personally)

The story however was enjoyable, particularly because of becoming more of a Cassandra Cain fan (in part due to Kelly Thompson’s inclusion of her in this run) so having her be a more prominent role in this volume was fun to follow and once again, I love the friendship between her and Barda (another character who is quickly becoming a favourite of mine because of this run).

The only other thing I’ll say is Constantine may as well just join up with the main team now… he appears often enough at this point.

I look forward to seeing what the next volume brings.

Thompson does it again with female-centric comics that are concise and action-packed. The use of in media res is perfect as it builds on already established plot points that the reader has a great connection to and knowledge of. It keeps the story moving amongst the volumes while also providing context as to what mission is currently being worked on.

I really love this run of Birds of Prey and the faux conclusion with a hinted set up is so enticing for me. I can't wait for the next volume to come out. 5/5

Batgirl takes center stage as she goes undercover at a Goop-like company that is experimenting on Amazons. Then the cult after Sin comes after her while Barda and Batgirl help out Constantine. This was my favorite arc yet. Feels like Thompson really has a handle on the characters now.

After a shaky start, BoP is back to full ass kickery...

With Batgirl undercover, the team sits on their hands and worries about the 'small bat'. This version of the Bird of Prey is loaded for bear and is ready to clean the clocks of anybody who gets in their way. Those stolen Amazons will be back in no time. Might even be time for Barda to explode another punching bag.

---
This is a STRONG team book and with a stable art team (at least for now?) the stories can keep them grooving along. Hopefully there's more to come.
====
Bonus: Batgirl and Barda remain to two strongest anchors in this team
Bonus Bonus: No more 'artist for an issue' stories? Thank you!
