From USA Today best-selling author Ellie Wade comes a sizzling enemies to lovers, forced proximity, only one-bed hockey romance.
Gunner Dreven, the star goalie of the NHL team The Cranes, is known as a beast both on and off the ice. He usually sports a scowl and isn’t one for conversation, though he’s no stranger to the occasional bar fight.
Penelope Stellars is as closed off as they come, with very little social life outside of work. She thrives on staying busy as the PR and social media manager for the Crane Hockey team.
The two are perfect enemies. Gunner can’t stand Penny and the way she always bosses him around. Penny hates how hard Gunner makes her job with his inability to control his temper.
The pair finds themselves stranded after they’re caught in a snowstorm and are forced to wait it out while sharing the last motel room available. Agreeing that a temporary truce is in order, they put their differences aside while they’re stuck together.
Only when they return to the real world, they find it hard to remember why they hated each other in the first place. Annoyance is replaced with a longing that’s hard to ignore. They discover that they are more alike than they realize.
Their undeniable chemistry doesn’t change the reasons they were single in the first place. Is it possible for two broken people to heal enough to make it, or is their relationship doomed for the inevitable heartbreak?
***This is book 3 in the Crane Hockey Series and can be read as a standalone.

ONE PUCKING WISH IS OUT!!! :-) So excited for you all to read this one. There is a bonus 5k holiday epilogue available (link in the bio of all my social media sites-- https://linktr.ee/authorelliewade). Happy Reading!
Ugh! So freaking cute! This may be the best one yet! It’s so hard to decide cause they’ve all been great! But wow! Gunner and Penny are so freaking cute! This book, like the others, has some serious hallmark vibes with very good spice and, while that’s not usually my thing, I’m here for it! 4.5 stars!
Damn, do I love a grumpy hockey man and a plus-size queen! Gunner “The Beast” Dreven is a goalie who lives up to his nickname—growly, broody, and the king of “leave me alone” energy. And Penelope? The no-nonsense PR boss lady who handles his messes with stilettos and sass. If you’re a hockey girl in your goalie era (aren’t we all?), you already know goalies are a different breed. Thank goodness for that.
When a snowstorm strands these two enemies in a one-bed motel, the grumpy energy collides with boss-lady brilliance, and sparks fly harder than a slapshot. The banter? Sharp. The chemistry? Off the charts. Gunner pining for Penny’s curves while trying to act unbothered? Delicious.
This story is a penalty box full of everything you want: heat, sass, and a goalie who finally realizes his perfect match has been bossing him around all along. Ellie, I’m hooked. Send me straight to the sin bin for loving this!
I loved this book. It's such a fun comfort read. There is no huge drama, after some of the darker reads, I need a nice fluffy book, and that was this. It had some drama, which I think is needed to hold the reader's attention, but it made sense and I didn't feel like it was just to move the plot along. It really explains why Gunner is very closed off to sharing his emotions. Both Gunner & Penny are prickly closed off people. The only thing I was a little confused about is when Penny says Gunner & her relationship is full of firsts, but I was under the impression she was in a serious relationship with Sean ( I think that was his name, the dude whose wedding they were attending). So that kind of confused me, but not enough to throw me completely off.
This is my favorite book in this series.
I've read over 200 books in the last 7 months, so I feel like I have pretty high standards in what I enjoy, my ratings will reflect that!
There is a fine line between love and hate, and these two sure know how to straddle that line. As the PR for the Cranes Hockey team, Penelope is never not busy trying to clean up images, and her most frequent flyer is Gunner. After a series of events, leave these two stranded in Canada after a snowstorm, forcing them to share not only a make shift room but also a bed, and things heat up. With nothing to do but each other, they enjoy a no strings attached trip, but when they come home, all bets are off.
The perfect combination of steam and heart, these two will make you fall in love. They are meant to be together, and it seems everyone knew but them. I love Penny and her straight-laced personality, but I love how Gunner pulls her out of it even more. He is all about her curves and getting her to let loose. It is a fantastic addition to the Cranes Hockey series.
Alone their broken - together whole I absolutely loved Penelope and Gunner’s story. They are two people both hurting from what happened in their pasts and both distancing themselves from others to avoid heartache. Not realising that they both have so much in common and can’t see it, but instead both disliking each other immensely. This is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity story that brought to the surface a lot of emotions that these characters had to confront. Great storyline and characters, with steamy scenes and a man that protects his woman no matter the cost. The narrators Savannah Thomas and Christian Leatherman were once again perfect for their roles of Penelope and Gunner which made for pleasurable listening. Both the ebook and audiobook are excellent. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
In book #3 of the Crane Series we learn more about Penelope, Penny and Gunner. Gunner "The Beast" who's the goalie of the Crane's Hockey Team. He is the oldest and grumpiest. Penny has the job of PR of the team.... AKA The Beasts babysitter!! Wouldn't you know the two get stranded, together.... alone. I love the banter, emotions and connection in this book. I wanted more with each page I read. I love Penny. The strong woman she is, strait laced appearing and all. I love even more that Gunner gets to see the real Penny!! This is a great story and I can't wait to read more about the Cranes. Tropes: 🏒 Enemies to Lovers 👩🦰 Plus sized FMC 🏒 Grumpy/ Sunshine 👩🦰 Forced Proximity 🏒 One Bed
A definite must read. Ellie Wade is an auto buy author of mine 💜. Thank you for the ARC
I loved this book. This is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity, one bed hockey romance with a plus size fmc. I was hooked from the first page. Penelope is the PR and Social Media manger for the Crane hockey team. Gunner is the star goalie for the Crane hockey team. They hate each other but they get stranded together during a snow storm. They are forced to wait it out together can call a temporary truce while they are stranded. Once they are back in the real world they will go back to hating each other or will they. I loved the banter. I loved the storyline. I loved when she found out he had never watched Friends. I love Penelopes friendship with Iris. I can’t wait for the next book.
Favorite Quote: “ Maybe coffee is an acquired taste, but everyone loves Friends.”
~This is book 3 of the Crane Hockey Series written by Ellie Wade and let’s just say she sure did a good job. We have Gunner “the beast” who is the goalie of the Crane’s Hockey team! He is the oldest from his team and is also known to have a temper. Oh, yea he is also single but has his eye on his PA… Penelope is the PA of the Crane’s Hockey team, she is a strong woman. The best part is that she is a plus size main character. Anyways I enjoyed how the love and hate relationship became more between them. It was a great read to end the summer.
Audiobook: I was entertained by book three in this series. Enemies-to-lovers has always been my most favorite trope and this story did not disappoint. I liked Gunner and Penelope as both of them were scarred from their childhoods, and yet both worked to overcome their difficult pasts. I enjoyed the occasional incidences of humor. There were some steamy scenes. I thought Savannah Thomas' and Christian Leatherman's narrations were entertaining, and their performances added to my enjoyment of the story. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
I love listening to audiobooks. I love hockey romances. I love great narrators. One Pucking Wish fits all the things I love. Ellie Wade wrote a hockey romance book full of steamy scenes and sexy and sweet characters. She then found the perfect narrators to bring the story and characters to life. I enjoyed hearing every word of this story as I worked, drove, went for a walk, or cleaned the house.
The plot centers around Penny and Gunner, who are stranded together, leading to developing chemistry between them. Though the book contains few surprises, it follows Penny and Gunner as they navigate their feelings and ultimately allow their hearts to heal.
I am absolutely loving this series! As a hockey family, I love reading hockey romances and as someone married to a goalie, I loved Gunner's story! Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite genres and this one was fantastic! Gunner and Penelope had fantastic chemistry that leapt off the pages. Penny's best friend, Iris, was a star as well! This story was full of hate, love, and schmexy times! It was hot, sensual, and I enjoyed every single minute of it. I am so glad that Ellie extended the series because I NEED more! (5 stars)
This series is just so easy to read. It's such a cozy read, even the angsty backgrounds of the characters just doesn't seem high stakes. Gunner and Penny have all the chemistry. I wish the relationship was built a little more. Gunner seemed to go from absolute hatred to lusty-liking with absolutely no reasoning.
I'm not mad about it at all. I just wanted it to be longer to be honest. Gunner and Penny were perfect. They were so similar while also being different enough that it didn't feel like one person dating themself.
There is a line with love and hate. As the PR for the cranes hickey team Penelope is in charge of cleaning up all the messes the boys make. After the most recent event with Gunner they are left stranded in Canada during a blizzard with a one bed situation. With nothing to do they make an arrangement that ends when they get home. This is the perfect combo of spicy and heat .
You will love these characters and want more from them.
Definitely loved this one! This would’ve been a five star rating for me had the grocery store seen not felt so abrupt . Everything was going fine until the grocery store incident which didn’t seem to have much of a buildup. Everything else about the story was super great, but I’m definitely ready for something a little bit different because each of these stories seems to end in an engagement or wedding. Definitely recommend the series overall.
Love a grumpy MMC and I surprising loved that the FMC was a little grumpy too. I love a good enemies to lovers. Loved the story line, especially about getting snowed in with only one bed, doesn’t get much better than that! Loved that Penny wasn’t a stick figure and I love that gunner always reassured her that he didn’t need her to be and made her feel more confident. Overall just really loved this book.
Another great book from Ellie! This pulled me back into my Hockey romance era. It’s been a bit since I’ve read the one bed/ forced proximity troupe so this was great. I’m excited to keep reading this series!
I thought the book was cute, like a hallmark rom com type of thing. Boy and girl have troubled paths find each other . Idk what the more was but I just didn’t get it from this book. Also super upset on how the book lacked spice. I guess I just expected more spice
I really loved Gunner and Penny's story. It's really so hard not to give any spoilers with this one.. I will say it has some good spice, and the storyline is truly chef's kiss. Now to read "one pucking destiny"
I literally enjoyed the whole series so far I read six books within four days because they are a nonstop read they’re fun. They’re funny they’re the spice is awesome is clean spice a very good pallet cleanser.
