The Friday Street Murder Mystery Team are back in A Murder Worth Dying For.
This entertaining murder mystery is a tale where a thief, a killer, a witness, a patsy, a deadly mistake, and a cover-up lay wrongly solved for twenty years.
Retired MI6 agents, eccentric twins, Cedric and Ambrose, along with Verity and Charlie, discover a secret notebook, a coded message, a cryptic witness statement, and a riddle etched into a dusty tennis court at Emmanuelle Boarding School for girls, in this high-stakes cosy mystery.
The murderer prays the last twenty years have swept away the incriminating clues in a case where lies, deceit, and facts have blended into one complex mystery.
The murderer has struck once, maybe twice, and possibly a third time. Can the team catch the killer before they strike again?
If you love your murder mysteries served up with great food and witty characters, A Murder Worth Dying For should be your next read.
“Amazing characters and storyline. Russell Cooper is my favourite mystery author. So cleverly written. A must read.”
I love the Friday Street Murder Mysteries! A Murder Worth Dying For is a great addition to the series. It has an intriguing mystery, great characters and high speed drama wrapped in a wonderful cozy feeling .
This series just keeps getting better. The characters are just that...characters that you laugh with and marvel at the twins knowledge. Ready for the next one.
It is necessary to make preparations before reading the Friday Street Murder Mystery books. First, and most important, is to be certain I am wearing my Depends. I am old. Sudden onsets of uncontrollable laughter have consequences these days. Secondly, it is important not to be in a quiet communal environment such as a doctor's waiting room or a church, for example. People tend to get annoyed when they hear unexpected outbursts. And finally, in my case, it is critical not to read in bed next to my sleeping husband as he tends to get quite grumpy when disturbed. And even when desperately trying to stifle myself, the bed seems to have a strange way of shaking him awake. Lesson learned. Right now I am terribly agitated having finished all 3 available installments and waiting most impatiently for the next, I can only say, please hurry...but...wait...that might not be the best to ask...these are well worth waiting for and genius takes its own time....
This is the third book in the Friday Street Murder Mystery series and found it to be the best one yet. Having read the first two, the characters are now familiar, which makes the story flow smoothly. There were times I was laughing out loud late at night while my husband tried to sleep. I highly recommend reading the first two books in the series before reading A Murder Worth Dying For to get the most out of the interaction of all the key characters. I can’t wait for the screenplay!
A Murder Worth Dying for is the best of Russell Cooper's books in my opinion. I love his characters, descriptions & his knowledge. I love all the new characters that appear with each new book, they are all so eccentric. Trying to solve all the clues keeps my brain active. I give the book 5 stars as I rarely sit & just read a book - I am nearly always doing something else at the same time!!
This book along with first two are amazing books. They would be an excellent choice for book clubs. They have no nasty word’s or explicit sex. They are just good, clean wholesome books that have you guessing till the very end. I could have read it on one sitting, but decided to not do that as the next installment is just getting started. It’s not required, but you are better off getting started with book one. Helps to introduce the characters. You will, love the books!
I love this series so much, I read them on Kindle Unlimited then turned around and bought them for my re-readable pile. The clever plotting and the zany characters are a treat, as is the humor and lovely writing style. I wish there were thirty more books in the series; I'd read them all in a row.
The Friday Street Murder mysteries are solid mysteries with clever twists and turns, but it is the fabulously developed witty characters that make them impossible to put down once you begin.
The usual wonderful characters, solving crime in their own inimitable way. I can't recommend this enough, it's got excitement, gets your brain working and includes food as an assistance to solving the plot. What more can you want!
Russell Cooper never fails to get me so involved that I read into the wee hours! This was no exception. I loved the difficulty faced by really smart people and that I was totally wrong on the ending! Great fun and I love all the characters!
Absolutely loved it, I think Russell Cooper is my new favourite author. Amazing plot and definitely the best one is the series. I think I’d like to live next door to Cedric and Ambrose
I like the writing, mystery and humor of the "Friday Street Murder Mysteries". The characters (and food) continue to develop and their relationships to each other. There are enough clues and red herrings to keep you paying attention. If you haven't read these, start with the first...you won't regret it.
I love reading about Charlie and Verify and all the gang solving mysteries! Cedric and Ambrose make me laugh. Never no who is the murderer is until the end.
2025 bk 117. The Friday Street minds are at it again. This time they are asked to find a murderer - from a 20 year old murder case. This one involves a little more cognitive skills as the clues are elusive, lost in memory, and downright intriguing. And darn it Russell Cooper - a book without the recipes for the lemon drizzle or other cakes. ....
So happy we get to be reunited with our friends at Friday Street. I always learn something new reading this series and feel like I’m catching up with some very cool friends. Please don’t stop writing this wonderful series Russell Cooper!
Really enjoying this series! Read all of them successively, I just couldn’t put them down. It would make the most entertaining tv series, all those quirky, eccentric characters are most delightful.
This has quickly become my favorite series! I want to live in the world of Ambrose and Cedric. It's their world and everyone rotates around them. They are laugh-out-loud funny and the supporting cast is hysterical at times too. This is all wrapped around a wonderful mystery.
A thoroughly enjoyable, detailed and well written book. Innocent girl murdered, person imprisoned wrongly and all the wacky brilliance of twin brothers makes a charming story!
Thus was my first read in this series and I quite enjoyed the story. Ambrose and Cedric are my new favorite factional characters. Well done, Mr. Cooper, for taking us on a journey unraveling a 20 year old murder case!
I must confess that I know Russell from a previous business-related life before he started writing & he was always a very funny man & witty raconteur. That said, he has no blackmail material on me (that I know of) so this is an unbiased review. Given the character of the author it comes as no surprise to find that his books are inventive, carefully crafted & witty. I’ve already read books 1 & 2 in the series and have to say they get better and better. I love the characters & their unique and engaging personalities and, of course their funny interactions. Obviously at the heart of the book is a cosy murder mystery & Russell had me guessing to the end as to ‘whodunnit’. Bring on book 4!
I love the Friday Street Murder Mysteries. The characters are crazily amazing. The murders always seem so complicated that you think there is no way they could be solved. I love the family that has been built between the characters and the books keep getting better . Please continue with this series, it always makes me smile and keeps me up so I can finish.. They are never gory . I tend to eat when I read these books as the food they consume is incredible.
I absolutely love this laugh out loud mystery series filled with Cold War spies, hysterical twin brothers, a retired police officer, and a young woman named Charlie who with her dog makes the whole mystery work.
I’m rounding this up to 5 because it was such a fun read. Maybe unbelievable but still fun. The “gang” just go their merry way breaking into places and threatening people and no one pays any attention to this bizarre bunch. I’m not sure how these funny weird people could ever have functioned as spies even in a fictional world.
I had no idea who the killer was or why, so that was good. Reason was a stretch.
I wasn’t sure at first about a murder involving a young girl. But as the story evolved, it became clear that this was going to be another challenge for Charlie and Verity plus the rest of the gang. I’m really enjoying Mr. Cooper’s books and look forward to reading many more.
Such an enjoyable few hours with these characters. Holds your interest without being graphic in details. I liked the plot and not sure I wanted it to end. Unusual characters and just plain fun distraction. Please write more.
